Shrimp and grits, complimentary pastry basket
    Mona M.

Enjoyed a delicious brunch with my girlfriends. We were a group of 10, seated. Off to the side so that we could chat and laugh together. Myrtle was our server. She was friendly and funny. I ordered the crab cakes Benedict but I don't care for poached eggs so I subbed with grits and had fresh fruit as a side. The two crab cakes were served over fried green tomatoes. There was visible claw meat and not too much breading. The grits were lovely. Good enough to just order a side. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. The friend next to me gored the açaí bowl, the one across enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the friend on my other side enjoyed the meatless sausage and the carrot and ginger juice. The strawberry lemonade was a hit

I've been here for brunch before many years ago, and decided to go back and give it a try for lunch. Overall, I enjoyed my chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich could of used a little more aioli and been a little less crispy. The sandwich was slightly overcooked and lacked any spice. I'll definitely go back here though.

This was my second time eating at the restaurant vs ordering room service (2024 was my first time) we enjoyed both dinner and brunch here and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. For dinner we asked for the bar menu because we weren't really in the mood for anything on the regular restaurant menu and they had no problem providing us with the separate menu. Dinner was also served with fresh bread along with a trio of butter(paprika, cheddar jalapeño and regular) and breakfast you get a basket of pastries like croissants, muffins, and little fruit filled pastries. The drinks were strong and delicious and our servers were fantastic. The chicken sandwich at dinner was delicious but I think I woild have enjoyed it more had I added like lettuce and tomato to it(my problem not theirs) and the wagu burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. The French fries were delicious and the kids all loved them. One of our littles didn't want a full meal just French fries and berries and they were both a nice serving. Breakfast was delicious but I do wish for $18 the French toast would come with something like a side of fruit or something but I get it. All in all we love coming here and will be back again for our yearly stay!

Bucatini Pasta: eggplant, fig, pomegranate seed, goat cheese, walnut cream

We tried their dinner and brunch! Both meals were SO good. For dinner they serve you a trio of butters to pair with fresh bread. They are all really good! One is packed with herbs, another is coated in a paprika, and the third is their house butter. For an appetizer we got the roasted cauliflower served over tahini tzatziki, and topped with toasted pistachios. I opted for the bucatini pasta for my entree and it ended up having super unique sweet flavor that was delicious. Ingredients included roasted eggplant, goat cheese, walnut cream, figs, and pomegranate seed. What a combo right? It works! My husband got the Joyce Chicken Roulade. It had a glazed chestnut puree, poultry sauce, artichoke and truffle. Very flavorful! I highly recommend. I got a cocktail and my husband got a beer. My drink was delicious. They serve you a lemon/lime to add to your water after you sit down, which was a nice touch. The next morning we came back for breakfast. I got a glass of champagne and one of their fun juice combinations. I choose the Pineapple, Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Juice. It was good and I felt healthy. For breakfast I got the chorizo hash which was out of this world! I would get it again. The tortilla on top was so good. My husband got focaccia tuna sandwich. The focaccia bread was insanely tender and delicious. The tuna also had good texture and flavor. I wish you could opt to get it served warm as that would level up the flavor. I would also like to just make it a melt by adding cheese. I can't wait to be back in the area as I would absolutely go for brunch again and I will rebook here for dinner anytime I stay at the hotel too. The highlight of our visit was for sure the amazing food, but the ambiance is right behind it. The rooms are decked out in art, tall booths, large tables, gorgeous seating, and an epic bar.

Great staff. Great menu. Great management. I ate here about 6x on my 3 day visit. Breakfast staff was excellent and very friendly. I relaxed and worked all day and they made sure all my needs were met the whole day. Dinner staff was great also. Menu is great and the bar menu has some hidden gems also. Been coming here for brunch as they have a nice selection of contemporary breakfast. Today's service was slow, but my breakfast food was what I would have expected in terms of taste and quality. This place has easy parking at the back of Ballantyne hotel.

This restaurant is located in the Ballantyne Hotel. Upscale restaurant but you can get away with casual dress. Prices are for sure upscale. It was my birthday weekend and we stayed at the hotel so we were able to charge our food to our room. Delicious meal but I was a little disappointed by my 'on the house' bday treat. It was a slice of red velvet cake that was rather small and nothing to rave over. I appreciated it for sure but probably would have rather ordered a dessert off the menu. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and the art work is outstanding. Intimate setting, great for a special occasion, date night. Service was great.

Ambiance: upscale restaurant with full bar. The area was separated between more-for-dining (tables, brighter, closer to kitchen) and more-for-drink (sofas, high tables, dimmed lights, closer to bar). Not full on a weekend dinner, but recommend to make reservations if possible. The food tasted great except it was a bit too salty for a few of them. Truffle fries - which I did not take photo - worth ordering as side to share. The in-house made ice cream was impressive. Reason for not five stars: - the wait between appetizer and entree was too long. The server was keen on cleaning up the table so there was like 20 minutes empty table from when server collected all appetizer plates to we got entrees. - entree price a bit too high given the portion.

This is a really good restaurant for being in a hotel. They are known for their old fashioned and even have two whiskeys (makers mark and woodford) they are specially made for them. The lamb loin I had for dinner was delicious. And if I would have only gone for dinner this would have been a five star review. Unfortunately, when I went for lunch, the shrimp and grits were just ok.

While her original visit left more than be desired management invited us to give them a second try and I'm so glad we did. We had an amazing time from start to finish. The staff was amazing and I was astounded by their dedication to their craft. The best part was the food. We started with the chefs board which had an array of cheeses and spreads. The most memorable was the whipped feta. OMG. The Ambiance was the only thing I feel could use some tuning as there's not enough sound deadening to make the music out? It sounds like a heart beat and makes it hard to make out conversations. Major shout out to Leigh for taking care of us all night and making it a memorable night. I can definitely say that this one is just as amazing! I've always been a big fan of their board and bottle deal and my favorite wine at Postino's is their Perfekt wine. It's perfect! If it's your first time here, you definitely have to try the bruschetta because it's the best I've had. You'll get to choose four different types among your board. My favorite bruschettas are the prosciutto and fig, the smoked salmon, the burrata, and the apple and brie. I also recommend the skewers. They are always cooked to perfection. If you're not the biggest wine aficionado, they also have cocktails and beers (and of course water, soda, mocktails). I believe they still do a special for beer pitchers and they have a good draft list.

Now Food ‼ So, if this is your first time and you want to keep it light, I highly recommend the cob salad! This is the best salad because of the homemade croutons! The serving is pretty large and the dressings our house made and every single one of them are great. My favorite would be the Thai dressing, if I had to pick. I've also tried the burger and it is extremely HUGE and flavorful. You may not be able to eat it all in one setting. I've also had the blackened salmon with the pasta and it was perfectly cooked. I get mine at medium rare. TIMING~ The servants come out pretty fast. By the time you've had your first drink the food is already coming out. This is my honest review as I have been coming here for the past decade and I've never had an issue. You will be pleased. This is also the perfect spot for a first date, business meeting, anniversary and also a birthday.. P.S. Another reason why I am drawn to this particular location, is that 131 Main has maintained a clean place to eat. My number one pet peeve is a messy bathroom. Seating Staff was very nice and took us to our seats in a booth right away. It was already very busy at 5p on a Friday, with great weather. I've been to many of the Noble restaurants around Charlotte but this was my first time at a Roosters and found it to be a great experience overall. Our server was Melissa, a true professional, personable, knowledgable and available for questions and guidance on the menu. Susan had the NC shrimp, I had the Trout we shared the Okra appetizer and Anson Mill Grits and Carolina Gold Rice as our sides. It was very LOUD, that's the only down side to our experience. The bar area is VERY large so it was livley on a Friday evening. We were there to see String Cheese Incident at the Amp. The food quality was top tier! Everything was just delicious, well presented, nice size portions and maybe just a little on the pricey side but expected for the location and access to the AMP. Parking can be a challenge, the close in lots are all pay using an App but I found the Boyle Garage a block away was FREE. Melissa said there is a 'private dining room' that can be reserved in the back of the main dining room. However at times when it's not reserved you can request seating there where it's much quieter! They have very nice covered patio and live music on Wed evenings. I will be returning for certain and will ALWAYS ask for Melissa!

Our server stuck to his order of march: drinks, appetizers, mains desserts. It was mostly a non-alcohol dinner, so the drinks were an odd mix of soda water and colored drinks with flags. Can't tell you about wine list or other prices. Order taking took awhile and we got through it. My son and I each had the Steak Frites ($39.70). Nice portions. Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Wife liked the chicken and the accompanying spaghetti with capers was very good. She took home a portion good for lunch the next day. One Pappardelle Bolognese ($29.35) well enjoyed by granddaughter. One California Chicken Sandwich ($20.70). Daughter-in-law ate half of it. Not a big eater. I did not like the finished meal plates snapped up one at a time. We were talking and it took awhile. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Burton's has a lot going for it, so will be worth your time, effort and money.
