We decided to give this exclusive hotel's restaurant another shot for breakfast this year after perusing the annual gingerbread house competition outside its entrance. Since it is somewhat of a splurge, I am pleased to say that we had a delightful experience this time around. We were greeted warmly and immediately seated in their roomy and comfortable dining room. Our young waitress was friendly and attentive, as were everyone that served us. I went with the standard breakfast combo. For $12, it included two eggs, four pieces of perfectly prepared applewood bacon that was absolutely delicious, pan fried red fingerling potatoes and toast. My wife also really enjoyed her avocado toast which was beautifully plated. It ran $17. One very special extra was their housemade raspberry and orange jams, along with real butter. Our regular coffees were better than average and were faithfully refilled but, at $2.75, I must sound the beverage gouging alarm. Niceties such as raw sugar and fresh creme were generously supplied however. Unlike many places, coffee was more that an afterthought. The manager made regular rounds hobnobbing with guests, and checked on us twice. I'd say that the place is certainly well-managed, although the sanitation score was a surprisingly low 93 on this visit. Lunch and dinner are also served. It has been a while but we have enjoyed dinner on a prior visit. Overall, we were very happy with most everything. I am pleased to upgrade my prior three star rating to four. I decided to come here after church last Sunday. They were close since I was in the Ballantyne area. I did not expect to have the best chicken and waffles in my life here! The service was awesome I had a really eccentric server that made my experience really fun. And I remember him loving my Amazon straw bag that I had left on the table. But the service was great and I will definitely come back after church again sometime. I had the chicken and waffles and the deviled eggs and I don't remember the cocktail I ordered. I went there for the first time on Sunday with a large group. The service was really well handled with our group everyone was taken care of with drinks, appetizers and our orders. Everyone really liked the drink selections they had very creative craft cocktails. All meals arrived and the portions were substantial well appointed and tasted great per our group. I had the Açaí Granola Bowl with fresh fruits and craved a side of bacon! Others order the chicken and waffles, grilled octopus, veggie hash and lamb burger. I was pleasantly greeted by Olivia and her hospitality through my entire experience was unmatched! A friend took me to The Gallery Restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We were there three hours over the lunch hour, and it was delightful. The food was delicious, the restaurant was comfortable and located in the middle of the beautiful Ballantyne Hotel, and the service was top notch. Kenneth was our server, and he was prompt, personable and patient. We were so impressed with him that before we left, we asked to see the manager. She stopped by the table and was pleasantly surprised that we took the opportunity to praise a worker. My friend ordered shrimp and grits and said they were some of the best she had ever had. Y chicken sandwich was delicious and not the typical. I subbed onion rings for the fries and the generous serving was well seasoned and fried to perfection. We were then provided a lovely dessert to help celebrate my birthday. It was a perfect ending to a lovely lunch. read more

Food is below average for this caliber of restaurant. Wife and I had filet and it wasn't seasoned at all and the reduction was bland. Brussels sprouts were undercooked. Fries were the best thing. Daughter and the kids burger and liked it. Caesar salad was okay but cheese pieces were too large. Cocktails and wine were decent and the best thing of the whole meal. Service was good and prompt. The Gallery Restaurant is located on the right most wing of the Ballantyne Westin Resort on the 1st floor. They have a restaurant and bar, with a separate bar menu if you want to order smaller plates. The kitchen closes at 10pm so make sure you get there in time! The burgers here are gigantic and delicious. Like every other restaurant in Charlotte, there is a rule that you cannot cook anything under 144 degrees (medium well), but they are still flavorful and juicy. They serve it with a generous side of onion rings or sweet potato fries. This restaurant has a bar and restaurant, and the food and drinks are priced reasonably compared to the Westin in downtown. I ordered a small plate $10 worth of scallops which was a mere 2 scallops with a delicious side of pea shoot salad and candied watermelon. I washed it down with North Carolina blueberry port. If you're hungry, the highest value small plate are the fish tacos. If you want variety you can get a 5 course or 7 course meal that starts at $69. They offer whiskey tastings and have a good variety of top shelf alcohols including a slew of top shelf whiskeys. The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable about everything. I would definitely return if I stayed here again. Just a couple tips about the regular menu: - Duck was excellent, moist, and tasty. - Porkchop was very dry and lacked flavor, it needed sauce. - The Fillet was surprisingly good considering this place isn't a steakhouse. - They have fried mac n cheese tots. - The fries are great! When staying at the Ballantyne (for work) I usually eat dinner at the restaurant and love that they remember me by name and even know my favorite meals. I usually stick with something light like salmon but sometimes I'll indulge after a long day and get the lamb. Its not always on special but they've actually set it aside for me when they know I'm in town. The always give almond cookies but I'm usually too full. The prices are actually pretty reasonable for a luxury hotel restaurant. It will continue to be my go to when in town! read more

This is a 3.5 star experience. The menu is limited and expensive. $50 for a filet??? The wine menu is amazing, and the service was just as amazing. The atmosphere is very nice. My husband got the pork dish and said it was out of this world. Best piece of pork he's ever had. He also loved this broccoli salad they served before the meal. I got the chicken - I thought it was basic. We were a party of 10 and it took a bit of time for our meals to come out. If the restaurant is at a limited capacity than pre COVID, I couldn't imagine our food taking any longer. read more

Located inside the Ballantyne Hotel, my expectations for this restaurant (were not) met in terms of cleanliness and service. A Friday afternoon 1:00 lunch with girlfriends was a little disappointing. I was seated with a food menu, but not spoken to for the first 15 minutes. I was not given a drink menu. After asking for the drink menu, it was another 15 min when the drink showed up at our table. I think the busboy actually took our order at some point. After we asked for a manager, she came over but there was no legitimate reason for the lack of service. It was not crowded at all and some of the staff wasn't even familiar with their table numbering. I'm my opinion, the restaurant just didn't seem to offer what you would expect inside of The Ballantyne Hotel. read more

We decided last minute to go here for breakfast (brunch since it was Saturday). There was a little bit of a wait to be greeted upon arrival as it was a very busy morning but nothing unbearable. I chose to have a mimosa despite the earlier hour and I was not disappointed. I selected the chorizo skillet and my husband had the chicken and waffles. They were both very good. We were both amazed at the flavor in the chicken. Past experiences have shown that when a "hotel restaurant" serves chicken, it has ZERO flavor. We went Gallery/Ballantyne Hotel for Valentines Day (weekend after). We started off with drinks in the Whiskey Bar and then moved to dining room when it was time for our reservation. We got pork chop and the red snapper and they were both excellent. We got the spicy mac and cheese and brussel sprouts for sides. All delish. This is a pretty good restaurant. I've been here a few times now, usually for brunch. I enjoy their menu. My recent visit wasn't one of my best. I got the tostada and ordered the egg over hard. When it came out, the egg still had a runny yolk which I can't eat. I was just going to not eat it, but my aunt told me to say something. When I told the waiter, he came back and took the when saying he needed to prove to the kitchen that it wasn't cooked right. That was a little off putting as I would expect them to just bring out a new egg without questioning. They ended up bringing me out an entirely new meal which was very accommodating so I can't fault them too much. If you're in the area, this is a pretty good place to stop. Also note that they have Gingerbread Lane right outside around Christmas! read more

The food is the best of the best. you can order a classic cocktail and the wait staff and bartender execute it perfectly. My cocktail of choice this evening was a gin gimlet. One of my favorites in Charlotte! My husband and I love coming here to eat or grab drinks. We typically sit on the bar side of Gallery. It's a little more laid back, and they still offer the full menu! They constantly add new menu items or update some of the regular items with season ingredients. I wish I could tell the "one dish" to order, but everything here is absolutely amazing!! The soups and salads are delicious! And I strongly suggest you check out the Gallery Cut!! This changes weekly, but is typically a different red meat option. As for the bar, they have a wide selection of spirits. This is a bourbon bar though, so you will be able to find bourbons here that you may not see at other restaurants. This is really one of our favorite restaurants her favorite in charlotte. I had a so so experience. I took my food to go. Ordering over the phone was fine. Food was ready when I arrived to pick it up. I paid by card.. And it legitimately took the longest. While i had a great view of the Ciel Gallery artwork and the lovely decor, I was very uncomfortable because I was underdressed and people (customers and staff) gave me some odd looks. On to the food. When things are prepared as to go, you typically don't get the same presentation as dining in with plating, etc. But i was expecting something halfway presentable. The French toast was thrown in the box. Flavors of the nutella and strawberries.. The strawberries were my favorite, very delectable. I couldn't decide if the nutella was a good or bad pairing.. I changed my mind after each bite. I think perhaps a lemon curd along with the strawberries would have balanced out the flavor better. For $12 +tax, it was a bit underwhelming. However, I may dine-in next time to give it another chance. read more

I went to the Gallery Restaurant during the Charlotte Restaurant Week. This is an event where several restaurants in the Charlotte area participate to promote their cuisines by creating special menus for a set price. I am assuming the dishes on the menu may not be their regular dishes. I would rate the service 5 starts and the food 3.5 starts. From a service perspective we have a great experience. Our server was very attentive and cordial; same goes for the other people working the floor. Now let's go to the food. We ordered the Wagyu Beef Tartare which was rich in flavors and tasteful, the Baked Oysters were not great. The oysters were missing the right combinatIons of flavors. The Entree were Grilled Pork Steak and Maple Leaf Duck Breast. The pork was good, good flavors, good combination of ingredients. However it was just a big piece of pork. My wife could not finish it. We were expecting slices or smaller ppl even ces of pork. Overall the Maple Duck dish was good. The Duck itself was delicious and well cooked. The skin was crispy. The other ingredients such as the sweet potato and the radish were good complements. The salami on the other hand was not needed. The salami was too dry and fried. The Miso & Mocha dessert was really good, each individual piece was delicious but I believe the dessert was all over the place. Too many things. Overall good food, excellent service. read more

One of my favorite restaurants. This place is not super crowded and their dining area is spacious and decorated with cool paintings. This time, we sat at the bar area as they open later than dining area. For appetizers, ordered pork duo and beef tartare. It was cooked well for crispy skin and tender meat. Beef tartare was good as well. For main dishes, 8oz filet was perfectly cooked for medium. It was so tender and juicy. The sea scallop was good too. At some restaurants, they make it too salty but this was good. For a side dish, asparagus was good too. Overall it was a great dinner. read more

Beautiful location and fabulous decor! Stopped by for brunch with a party of 7. I would recommend calling in to make a reservation prior to coming since it's quite small and you wouldn't have to wait too long for a table. I wish we sat on the patio, it's a gorgeous view outside! I ordered the Salmon Frittata and it was delicious! The saltiness of the smoked salmon balanced well with the egg. I did not love the potatoes it came with. It's a huge slice of potato, which I feel made it harder to eat but maybe that's just me. GET THE ALMOND CHIA PUDDING! It was sooo yummy and the presentation is beautiful. I tried the Corn Soup and the lump crab in it is huge and was so satisfying to eat. They gave us a ton of muffins and bread as starters with a variety of jams and butter.
