I got a Biscuit,chicken fried steak with potato and my son got a breakfast Burrito and it was all dry.and the Biscuit was dry and when I asked if I can get something else I wanted sour dough bread I was given White bread. But at leat I was Hydrated. Because the coffee was Like a gallon of water, just with a little bit of coffee ground swirled in here and there. Great food and service. Owner is on premises most of the time, is friendly and makes sure everything is running smoothly. I love going to this restaurant. They serve classic Americana breakfast for the most part. Great portions and flavor. Everything is always fresh and hot. Prices are reasonable. One star for the friendliness of the staff and because other people's food looked decent. Mine however was disgusting so that's where the remaining stars came off. I got a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. It was awful. Grilled bread with ice cold turkey. Ice cold, out of the fridge. I couldn't stomach it. It was a bit slimy also. It was like packages lunch meat rather than fresh turkey. I was with some new friends and didn't want to complain or hold up anyone else's eating but my sandwich should not have been served this way. The huevos rancheros are the best ever! That being said, the yolks need to be runny. Runny yolks 11 out of 10, not runny, they'll redo them. I really want to try the chicken fried steak and eggs but the huevos are just too addictive. I get it with 2 Pico de gallos and 1 habenero salsas. Honestly the best with the rice and beans as a perfect complement. The wait staff is great, cheesy decor, which is fine since it's a breakfast diner... My daughter loves the pancakes. I went for brunch and the wait wasn't bad---they said 15 minutes which I could tell was a very, very gross underestimate. The wait ended up being 30 minutes (still fine by me). What upset me the most about this place was the exceptionally slow service and the awful food. I had to flag down my waitress many times. The food is what bummed me the most and ultimately made me decide to not give it a second try. The food was very average and some of it had a boxed flavor to me. OJ isn't freshly squeezed either. I think they charge $3-4 for it? For non freshly squeezed!? Get outta here! I got a side of their biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was dense and the gravy literally tasted like it came from the box. I ordered the "crab" and shrimp Benedict. Worst decision ever. It sounded amazing on the menu, but I would have appreciated them mentioning it's imitation crab. Maybe it's my fault for not checking, but if you're writing crab, I'm thinking you're giving me REAL CRAB! Am I suppose to now go to every restaurant and say "hello! Is this crab real? As in it's been crawling on the ocean floor and has a very hard shell? Is this crab of the crustacean variety? Or is it that fake stuff made from fish?" I would like to give 3 stars for service and ambience, however the OUTSTANDING sandwich and fries I had here puts me at 4 stars. I came in around 11 am and was told I could sit where I liked. I chose a table near the back wall (in front of the restrooms I quickly found out) because there was a loud group on the other side of the restaurant. I guess I'm odd but I like to eat in peace. I almost immediately regretted my choice because my table was right under the music speaker. And this morning they were blaring 105.5 FM (I think). It was so loud and really annoying! I asked the server if she could please turn down the music. She came back after a good while and said that "was as low as she could turn it" without turning it off. (I heard no difference in volume.) I ordered a Grilled Turney sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was excellent! The green chiles were outstanding. Very flavorful. The steak fries were super good. Service was meh. Lots of people standing around in the kitchen while the same server did most of everything else. Regardless, I'll be back for sure. More things to try! read more

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in town. Their food is consistently delicious, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the menu and prices are great and best part is it's usually not super busy on the weekends. Places like Peet's and Allison's may have a slightly nicer ambiance but you're also waiting nearly an hour for a table on a Saturday or Sunday. This is definitely a more blue collar option than a place like Cafe Nuevo so assuming you don't care about the artistic qualities of the restaurant you'd be better off going to Galloping Hen. My favorites are the chorizo and eggs (seriously my favorite chorizo in town, it's SO GOOD), popular buckaroo and the country eggs benedict. read more

Visiting from out of town for a wedding and had the misfortune of coming here. I get that it's Covid-19 but I work in a restaurant also so know the regulations. It took 10 minutes for them to take our drink order and it took another 10 minutes to get them. They finally took our order after 25 minutes. After another 30 minutes the food finally arrived. Half the food was wrong. Only half the toast came, wrong potatoes on plates, plus so much other mishaps. This is definitely a place I would never come back to. They kept on and on about Covid restrictions but still had salt and pepper shakers and ketchup bottles on the table! I also waited 15 minutes for my tab and another 10 minutes to get my change! Thru the years we have frequented this place. The last 2 times we were here it was very average, but we gave it one more chance. The place was not busy, and sill got up to get our own coffee twice. Food was cold, it had to have set in the window at least 10 minutes. I had avocado tst, the others had eggs Benedict (one egg came out like a hard boiled the other had an omelette. The food was very average and as I mentioned before, cold. We ate the food because we didn't want to wait any longer. Server brought our check and we waited 20 minutes and Finally took the check up to the desk to pay it. Then on the way back grabbed a coffee pot to refill our coffees. This was my third time ordering food from the Galloping hen my first two times where pleasant my food was made to my specifications, tasted great, and prices where fair, however this time I called my order in which was there bacon, onion, tomato, spinach,& cheese omelette for $11.99. I did ask to make a couple of changes no onions add sausage, once I recieved the bill it came to almost $18 and so rather than just charging for extra sausage they decided to charge for all the other items in the omelette as well and just not adding the bacon at all. read more
