I enjoyed everything I had here! My friend and I shared the arancini balls and they were absolutely delicious. I had the crawfish pasta dish that was actually an appetizer choice and it filled me up well. Last night we started out trying to eat at Hofbrauhaus in Grandview, but an almost 2 hour wait brought us to Gallos. We were driving by and decided to check it out. WOW are we glad we did. I'm a first impression kind of gal and I liked the first impression I got from Gallos Kitchen and Bar. We walked into a lively restaurant and bar. The host was friendly and let us know he'd find us when our table was ready, so we headed to bar. I was served a delicious Moscow Mule and we settled into our seats at the bar. We ended up sitting next to some really nice people who gave us the scoop on what their favorite dishes were, but basically they said you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. They were right. My husband got the Lamb Chop and I got Jambalaya. Both were outstanding. Although, when I got a taste of my husband's dish, I wanted to switch plates and I've never eaten lamb in my life--it was THAT delicious. It was like eating the most flavorful, tender piece of filet. Plus they served mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus that was wonderful, as well. Oh, I almost forgot what we got before our entree---We got the crab cakes to start that were also SO SO good. The bread and butter are out of control delicious, as well. My mouth is watering thinking about it. They give you a nice big triangle of really salty, sweet butter with their soft bread. To ended this meal, we took our bar mates suggestion and tried the Jeni's goat cheese and cherry ice cream and a cup of coffee. First time. Chief Tommy was great. People and atmosphere were awesome. I ate there with wife and four young kids. The Chief came three times to check on us and sent out signature pasta for us to try. Risotto was amazing and gumbo gets better with every bite. read more

My wife and I stopped here on a whim and what a happy accident it was. The outside isn't much to look at, but the inside had a nice casual atmosphere and the food was amazing. We had fried oysters for our appetizer and crawfish etoufee for the main course. It was a little more than I wanted to spend that night but I am so happy that I did. Went last night. Food was delicious! For apps, we had the calamari, which was lightly breaded and had THEE best olive salad on top. I've never had that on my calamari and reallllly enjoyed it. Entrees we had the special Seafood Creole. It had mussels, walleye, large scallops, tossed in a creole tomato sauce, and served with rice. Also had the Chicken Etoufee. It was classic and delicious too! Our waitress was Eden and she very attentive, and super nice! Live music also. It was a nice dining experience that I would recommend to anyone! read more

Gallos is one of the best restaurants in Columbus. An amazing combination of seafood and Cajun. The creole is fabulous and gigantic. Wings are some of the best I've ever had. Come hungry! Had a side salad (disappointed that they had run out of gumbo). Crawfish etouffee with scallops as an entree and blueberry lemon creme brulee for dessert. All solid and service was fine. Went here for dinner with two friends. The food was excellent. The walleye is now one of my favorite dishes. Unfortunately the waitress was terrible. She was not friendly, ignored us, the "special" menus weren't printed up (an hour after opening time) and our checks were messed up. I would definitely give it a try again because the food was so good, but if I have another waitress experience like that I'll go someplace where the food AND service are good! read more

This place was pretty good overall but not as great as what I had expected (based on my research/online reviews). We had calamari, chicken étouffée, and pasta russo. Fried calamari itself was good but I didn't like the way how it was prepared. It came with the olive salad and to me it was a weird combination that downgraded the taste. Chicken étouffée was delicious but the gravy was a bit too heavy on the salty side. I like the taste of the chicken a lot though. Pasta Russo was good too but seemed to be a mediocre dish overall. However, their noodle was one of the chewiest that I've ever had. Very interesting. Oh and I completely forgot to mention that their appetizer bread was totally a nom with the butter that came with! Worth a visit if you have a crave for Cajun Italian food. read more

We were looking for the perfect Sazerac and Yelp recommended Mr Gallo's place. What we found was a Cajun delight. A personal visit from Mr Gallo to check in on us made this a most enjoyable evening. Our first Sazerac was a little too light in absinthe for my partner's taste. One word to a staff member and an extra shot of absinthe satisfied my partner. We split our dishes and shared fried oysters, a full serving of gumbo, a mufaleta, and a small plate Caesar salad with anchovies. All were carefully prepared, but the fried oysters were exceptional, light, fresh, and flavorful. The menu caters to Italian and Creole. I believe they have the Creole down pretty well. I will definitely be returning to try the Etouffee and po boys. The Italian side will have to wait. read more

First time with friends, Fat Tuesday in the bar, and Today in the dining room, Need to branch out though. Ordered Seafood Creole twice, and apps at the bar. Service is fantastic. Thanks AJ, Cristian, Jaime, and Peter ; all great! Only complaint is count on the Oyster app is irregular. They say one pound, but has varied from 12-16oz. Should have ordered walleye and craw dad sauce today, but stuck with what I knew. I love Cippinno, bouillabaisse, Fra Diavlo, Zuppa de Pesce,and have had the best of each, but the Creole here is the best of the best! The crowd certainly mixed. We went here for my parent's anniversary, just to do something casual but special. I arrived a little early but the table was all ready for us. It was relatively empty when I first got there but it filled up quickly. I would make a reservation for a weekend night especially for later dinner times. The diet pepsi i had was a little flat and weird tasting but maybe that is just the fact that diet coke is so much better. My sister had a glass of wine (Riesling) that she said was delicious. The bread and butter was nice before dinner and the calamari was good. I especially liked the olive tapenade on top. Also the marinara on the bottom is a good call. I like more rings in my calamari, helps me forget that I'm eating squid. The entrees were good. Very large. I had the Jambalaya, spicy but not overwhelmingly so, and I took half of it home (excellent cold the next day). My mom had the walleye and she said it was excellent (she also had leftovers). I couldn't tell you what my dad ordered, maybe the chicken etouffee, but it was all gone at the end of dinner. I think he liked it. My sister also had etouffee but with seafood and she said it was very good. All in all, we had a good experience. I could see us going back. The atmosphere is very casual and it was starting to get loud. Also apparently there is live music sometimes which I don't enjoy being surprised with so I would check the schedule before you go. Fun atmosphere, interesting menu, decent bar selection. Parking can be tricky even with a large lot adjacent to the restaurant. But that goes to show you how popular it is! Appetizer portions were plentiful enough to be a meal in and of itself. Seafood is always fresh (I see the delivery truck on my daily walks with my dog!). This place is cozy, bordering on crowded. Arguably the best restaurant in Columbus. I'm fairly well traveled and this ranks in the top 10 restaurants I've ever been to. Tommy, the owner, greets every single table at some point during the meal and asks how everything tastes. I've never heard anyone utter a negative word. It's such an interesting mix of Italian and Cajun. My favorites are the pan seared walleye with the crawfish "crack sauce" and the grass fed filet mignon. I have heard great reviews of this establishment from many of my friends, so when some ladies from the company I work with suggested meeting up there last night for dinner drinks, I was excited to finally get to try this place out. To my delight, my friends were all correct...Gallo's left a great impression on this gal! For a Thursday night, I could not believe how busy this restaurant was. Tucked away off of Riverside Drive in Upper Arlington, if it weren't for my handy dandy GPS, I would have never known it was there. The parking lot was full and the street was lined up with vehicles on both sides. Luckily, a car pulled out in the lot just as I pulled in, so I was grateful for that. The restaurant's atmosphere was lively and spirited, but not obnoxiously so. We had made reservations and were seated in the back of the restaurant. The drinks were delicious and well-made! I decided on trying out the Seafood Creole and was not disappointed. The rice was perfect prepared and had a wonderful taste to it. I'm not typically a huge fan of scallops, but I literally ate every bite of the generous portions given in this spicy, mouth-watering dish. The oysters and fish were perfectly cooked and brought just the right amount of variety of taste to this dish. I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Gallo that night and he was truly a great guy. The service was on point and very friendly. I would highly recommend anyone trying this place out at least once when in the area. I know I will be coming back for more! read more

My husband and I were in town for business, and we dropped in on Thursday evening March 2nd around 6. We were greeted by a very rude and most unpleasant hostess. We opted to take a center table as we were told everything was already reserved. After seated it took us a few minutes to shake off the chilly reception. Once our waiter Jason showed up things soared. Jason truly saved the day. He was one of the best waiters we have ever had. We enjoyed the restaurant and food very much. The low lighting and candles on each table made for a very relaxing atmosphere. Jason made sure to check in frequently between courses, and made a great recommendation of coconut creme brulee for dessert. If we return I would make every attempt to make a reservation to avoid being treated like a second class citizen because I didn't have a reservation. read more

We went at 7pm on a Friday night, but even though the restaurant was hopping there wasn't a terribly long wait for a table (10min.). We ordered the wings & fried oysters for apps & they came out piping hot! The chicken étouffée was flavorful & perfectly done, chicken was moist & gravy sauce was not too thick or floury. Make sure to save room for dessert, the creme brulea is phenomenal, better than what we had in France. Two thumbs up, definitely coming back soon. read more

We stopped by to have dinner as our last meal in Columbus before leaving and I was beyond impressed! I had the Pasta Russo and I will be dreaming of that until I'm back in town. This was the best bolognese sauce I have ever had. You can tell the chef and cooks out a lot of love in the food. My husband had the meatball sandwich. The meatballs also were some of the best I have ever tasted! My kids both split some shrimp and fries along with some my pasta. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and tasted very southern fried. I was here about 2 months ago and everything was excellent. We got duck wings as an app and they were really incredible-one of the best appetizers I've ever had. I had a small portion of pasta Russo and my boyfriend had a special mushroom pasta. My pasta was great my boyfriend said his was the best pasta he's ever had! The chef is inventive without going overboard-which I feel like sometimes in columbus you get dishes that sound creative and amazing and but don't really deliver. The best food and service we've had in a long time. We ordered the shrimp po boy, seafood creole and the Calamari as an appetizer the food was fresh and flavorful. We met the owner and her son and they were super nice and even gave our son a free desert for his birthday!!! Loved it! Out of towners found this gem through Yelp (4.5 stars, 100+ reviews). Called first, and it was a good thing. Made reservations for 8p (first available on a Saturday when I called around 5p). Seated promptly at 8, had an enjoyable server who gave great entree advice, and enjoyed a fantastic meal. I recommend this place for those who are willing to try the seafood (pricy but good) and are planning on sitting in the bar section. I came here for a 2 year anniversary and was disappointed by the dining section which was really shabby, especially for the high priced menu they offer. The chairs and tables looked like they belonged in a cheap bar and the décor was cheesy. The bar section on the other hand looked nice and modern, and was totally full by 6pm on a weekday night. Next time I come it will be for happy hour and I will be sitting at the bar. I got the chicken etouffee which wasn't that tasty and didn't come with enough rice. My boyfriend got the house pasta with cremini mushrooms. Neither of us found the pasta sauce that flavorful although the mushrooms were really meaty and delicious. I ate at the Gallo's bar on Bethel Rd. for Mardi Gras a few years ago and I got the Jambalaya which was hands down the best I've ever had and I've been craving it ever since. I'm assuming Gallo's Kitchen has the same recipe so if this assumption is true I highly recommend it! Overall I was expecting better due to the high ratings on Yelp. read more
