The guy behind the counter, Sean, is obnoxious. My husband came in And decided to buy a used copy of an older Mortal Kombat game. Sean finally stops talking to the person in front of us and it is our time to check out. He looks at my husband like he is crazy and asks why my husband is buying this old game when the new version just came out. My husband politely says he should play through it before he gets the next one. Instead of checking us out Sean decides to try to embarrass my husband into wanting to buy the new game, saying the older game basically sucks, there's no story to it, it's not an exciting game, and if he wants to play Mortal Kombat the new one is really the only way to go. He even goes so far as to making a stand there and wait while unlocks A drawer and gets out a copy of the new one for my husband to buy. My husband has not given any indication that he has changed his mind and wants to buy this new game. My husband again has to say no, I don't want to buy that copy, this is what I'm trying to buy. Sean again tells him that he's making a mistake and that the game has no storyline and it isn't very fun. It's a good thing my husband has more patience than I do because I would have told Sean that at this point I didn't want to buy either of the games. This guy doesn't understand the difference between up selling and turning off customers completely. He better get a hold of it or else find a new job because we definitely wouldn't want to go back into his store again. read more

Best Game Stop employees EVER. Just spoke to Bryan/Brian few minutes ago regarding an error on their advertisement. And he took care of the issue IMMEDIATELY. That's TRUE customer service right there. Also, just an FYI, every time I go there the employees are always helpful and always happy to help. Like, literally HAPPY. I always see them smiling. My family has been coming to this location for about 3 years. So far, the staff has been helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and overall, very friendly. My two young boys tend to ask a lot of questions about the games, they ask the employees to search other location for games that they want (if this location doesn't have it.), and I have been in a few times by myself to ask about gaming systems and games that I think my kids would like. The staff has always been helpful with no hint of irritation. They take the time to explain things in a non-condescending way. read more

If there was 0 stars i would've clicked it. I had an incident where i was not told that the promotion for the ps4 with the game destiny has ended and when i bought it they were like sorry we can refund you your money back. But i asked them if they could give me another game or if i could get a discount but the assistant manager came and was literally the rudest person i spoke to accusing me for being rude. I tried talking to the manager but according to what that assistant manger said that he was on a conference call that was 3-4 hours long. Indirectly she is telling me to f*** off. Friendly, knowledgeable staff that provides great service. I would like to add a rebuttal to Shannon's review of the store smelling like comic-con and being patronized by "pimple faced teenaged boys and 40 year old virgins." My response is simple... WHAT DID YOU EXPECT!? I would love to get into your mind and figure out what you thought you were gonna walk into. Now, now, we are all entitled to our own opinions. However, I couldn't just stand here and let defenseless video game connoisseurs made fun of without their knowing (most are currently playing video games of course, rock on). Judging from her pictures, I firmly believe that this is one of those situations where the pot just called the kettle black. This place is a traditional GameStop with a centrally located spot in central San Diego. I have had a very pleasant experience with everyone who works there with the exception of a representative named bill.(with a beard) He was very condescending, rude, not knowledgable, and overall ruined even the great experiences I've had there on multiple occasions. I work in a close by retail electronic store and speak to many people and because of Bill I have warned anyone who may visit the store. After a mishap at the Chula Vista store and then a frustrating call to the Upland store and an even more frustrating call to corporate and holding for 38 min they fixed everything in a matter of minutes!! I just came in the store for my PickUP@Store. I had the confirmation email ready to show and guess what? The latina lady there said she sold my order to someone else? I DROVE 40 MINS out of my way to pick up MY ORDER and they sold it to someone else. So how does PickUP@Store suppose to work? "Great News! Your item is ready for PickUp@Store at the Mission Valley Ctr GameStop!" I don't think my order was ready to pick up. So do I get a discount, some reward points, no! Instead she said "Oh, you can pick it up here.... (a store 40 mins away!)" Oh gee thanks, I'll drive 40 mins to get here and then another 40 mins to the next gamestop that might or might not have it since this PickUP@Store seems shoddy at best. Way to treat a Powerup Pro rewards members 4 years running with such aweful customer service. Not having my preorder of Diablo 3 Collectors months ago was bad enough but this just made me snap. read more
