WORST PRODUCT DROPS First, they didn't honor the sign/policy they had outside, limiting to 1 big item instead of 2 per person of each item, although me and some other people waited hours for them to open and, for what absolutely nothing, wasted my day wasted my time. Second, they make you have a pro membership, so really they are just trying to take every dollar they can from you and again for absolutely nothing, 1 item not 2 items like their sign said and like Gamestops policy mentions. WHY EVEN HAVE THE SIGN??? Third, as I've mentioned, an absolutely horrid product drop. The worst GameStop I've ever been, I remember during Covid I tried to call in to check on an item, and the employee was really rude over the phone, yes today I decided to give this place another chance because it was the closest one to where I live. I brought an item in for r&r with a receipt as proof of purchase, the employee straight up refused to give me any money back, he stated that the box was not sealed and damaged, I told him nothing on the receipt policy said I can't return it if the item was defected, so he tried to flip it by saying he needed to ask his manager, he went to the back and came back shaking his head, he said nothing he can do if the item has already been opened, of course it had been opened, if I didn't open it, how would I know if I wanted to keep it or not, what kind of a policy is this? Nothing on the fine print indicated it. But this manager didn't even come out to explain, but he/she let an amateur who couldn't even make decisions like he was never been trained, he even said I should bring it back to the original GameStop store and return it there. What the heck? So this GameStop location is exclusively making their own rules, refused service to customers, I mean I can see all the bad reviews and now I experienced myself. I never seen a store that can't refund a customer and telling them to back to where they bought the item which also a GameStop, it's like I was forced to buy an item I didn't want anymore, but since I bought it from some crook at a third world country sweatshop, the rule would be you break it you buy it, I am just wow, this location shouldn't stay opened if they're going to operate like this. Came in to exchange a headset I had purchased the day prior as I went to test it out & it unfortunately didn't function properly. While I was standing in line for what felt like forever. The dwe3b employee (mexican with heavy build & glasses I believe, can't remember well from how annoyed I was) was talking to a customer about the weather, magic card packs and the packaging + some other pre orders. I understand having a quick convo with a customer but this guy was flat out talking away while I was standing there waiting for help. When he eventually acknowledged me he asked "did you have a question?" which I replied "this headset didn't work" aka I need an exchange. His rude reply was simply "they didn't work..." with a derogatory demeanor. Luckily another co worker came in just as he was finally finishing up with the other person and she was very helpful. Unfortunately she asked him for his opinion on a new headset I was thinking about picking out instead of the set I originally purchased where he gave a good reply to but then spoke over me when I went to explain the issue I had with the set I had purchased. Overall the 3 stars are mainly for the helpful co worker who had me out the door asap but this guy needs a wake up call as I'm sure he thinks too highly of himself. Arrived March 28th to pick up a pre order for Pokemon journey together I made back in January. As I get up to the counter an employee named Kiel rung me up for my pre order and claimed in order to fulfill this pre order I had to subscribe to be a pro member. Seeing as how the store had the product I didn't want to be denied and eventually gave in and paid $25 for the yearly membership. I thought it was odd and so I called back to the same store and asked if that was policy for preorders. Whoever was on the line doubled down and said "for this preorder it's required". I then called 3 other local GameStops who also had the same release of journey together cards. All three said that is an absurd idea and is not required. One store was nice enough to take a picture of my receipt and sent it to his manager to review. I think it's absolutely absurd to hold product that's payed for, hostage. So I've been to quite a few GameStop locations before. There isn't a significant amount if difference that I have been able to gather in the realm of product. They offer relatively competitive rates and credits for trade-ins. Like almost any business that has a trade-in policy I hear people complain that they do t get what their stuff is worth and you'd be better selling it on your own. The same can be applied to GameStop. By all means... If you have the time and energy go ahead and do it yourself. If you're like me and would rather spend your time enjoying life go ahead and drop by GameStop to trade in your used games. Now into this particular visit. It was late and raining out so in typical San Diego fashion I expected them to be slow.... I was wrong. There were two employees working when I arrived. I did a quick browse but pretty much knew what I was looking for. I knew it was in stock because I called in advance and a friendly employee checked for me. For me I am not a typically video game player. I find a few games I really like and play them endlessly. I don't learn any of the cool kid lingo so the world thinks I'm a geek and the geeks think I'm a loser. It's all good though, I'm good with my spot on this rock. When I come here its a breathe of fresh air to be treated nicely by the employees. They are clearly advanced players so answering my silly questions I'm sure is rather boring for them. Yet they do so with a friendly smile. The only thing that almost dinged them a star was the wait time. There were two lines that had formed for the two cash registers. The guy running my line had to take his break right as I was up. I was a little irritated but the other employee acknowledged me right away and said he'd be right with me. What I noticed was that although it was a little frustrating to those in line, when the clerk was assisting you he gave you his undivided attention. I liked that level of service. This GameStop is one of the most convenient to my house so I imagine ill be back soon! read more

I really like this gamestop. the ONLY reason i'm giving it a three star is because of one of the staff that work there. i believe his name is Marco? my mom and i went to this gamestop location recently to buy a birthday present for my brother. As we finished looking around, we walked up to the register to purchase the items. Marco was very rude with how he spoke to me and my mom. my mom was trying to ask him a question in spanish and he kept cutting her off saying "huh? what was that? i can't understand you". my mom eventually stopped asking him the question and after some awkward silence, he says "i'm kidding. i do speak spanish". i get joking around with customers but when you drag it on for as long as he did, it's no longer a joke. not to mention before i even went up to pay for my things, he was nowhere to be seen, one of the other staff members (who is a complete angel. she helped my mom and i with picking out a present for my brother) completely alone with no help as the store began to get busy. when he finished ringing up my mom and i, he went to the back room again and left the poor girl alone to deal with a line of people. When going to this location, i recommend asking for help from the girl with curly hair. she is awesome! read more

Small, intimate Gamestop. Go on a Monday or Tuesday because there's a Wingstop next door and you'll get 5 boneless wings for checking in. Don't go on Saturday night, the geeks come out at night(including me lol), and it gets busy. Good selection of games, standard prices. If you look hard enough you can find hidden gems for just a few bucks(Starhawk, $8). The staff are all very knowledgeable gamers and don't try to sell you on games too hard. And their game demos actually work! Which is great if you go there with a kid. read more

One star, because I can't give a zero without warning you all about this location. First of all, I went in for a trade in during the CoD:AW bonus trade in weekend. The clerk told me that it was already over and that it was only on Saturday. I deal with it, and trade in my stuff anyway. So I go about my day and I get a call back from them. Apparently the transaction didn't go through and they asked me to return before closing time to redo the transaction. So I have to make time out of my day to make up for their mistake! So I'm there waiting for them to get their shit together and skimming through my emails on my phone when I happen to check the CoD trade in special and it just so happens that they were wrong about the offer being over. It actually wasn't! Anyways, it turns out my trade in DID go through and They called me back for absolutely nothing. The manager couldn't undo the transaction to honor their promotion and asks for my number to appear as though she cares, to give me a call after she talks to her boss and I haven't heard jack shit since then. It's been 2 weeks. AVOID THIS LOCATION unless you're just going to buy something. The customer service sucks really hard. read more

Gamestop, the best middle-man shop for gamers! This location is in city heights and does not get very busy. The selection is good, and you can always reserve a game that is not at that store and might be at another location. Customer service is ok compared to other locations I have been too. They are usually staffed with just 1 or 2 employees so you pretty much won't get any questions answered until you get to the counter. Checkout times vary, it can be quick and simple, or take longer than normal. Like I said, the 1-2 employee being staffed at anytime is a bit of a drawback. Overall, I find this Gamestop a descent place to get games. I would like to see the place managed a bit better so that there is customer service on the actual store floor rather than behind the counter (or at least more often if they do so). But in the end, it's still a great place to buy/trade games. read more

There was a big Hispanic girl on the phone the whole time behind the register not acknowledging anyone she was not professional at all ! First, I hardly ever go to this location because I don't live in the area anymore. Mission Valley has a much nicer customer service that never gives me a hard time. Here is the story; I wanted to trade in my son's PS4 controller from a system that I bought used and purchased a 1 year warranty with it. I never have an issue at this location before; until one of the caucasian guy with the beard, whose name is Brandon didn't know how the replacement warranty should be honored. He said, I should've brought in the whole system, when I already had to replace this controller this past summer and didn't need the entire PS4 system. Apparently, he had to ask the scared, Caucasian guy with glasses; how does the warranty work for replacements. I told him and the other co-worker to hurry up, so, that they could go home and we could get this exchange done. The guy with the glasses, said to Brandon his co-worker, "You know what, let me help you out so, we can get her out of here!" Afterwards, the guy with glasses threatened to call Security and he said this in front of my 12 year-old son. They obviously, didn't see that they were near closing time when we arrived and took it as an insult or as other caucasians like him would assume as Anger. How can a person with no "thick skin" and then have the audacity to tell me to "breath" simply deal with other people and not know how to appropriately talk with someone who isn't threatening them? Great example, and good customer service does go a long way. Oh well, I guess, making threats to others and working at a store and not knowing the warranty on used systems isn't his specialty.
