writing to file a formal complaint regarding my experience at your Torrance store location today. I originally visited the Long Beach store on 4th St. looking for Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition. The staff there informed me they were out of stock but confirmed that the Torrance location had 5 copies available. Based on this information, I drove 20 minutes to the Torrance store. Upon arrival, I spoke with a gentleman named John. When I asked for the game, he told me they did not have it. When I explained that the Long Beach store had specifically seen 5 copies in their system, he dismissively told me they didn't have any. He was very rude throughout the interaction. Processed an online return and had the option to take the return in store. GameStop sent me an email with specific instructions and with a return date by February 1, 2026 to my nearest GameStop . The lady helping process my return at this store simply told me she couldn't process my return because the stores policy is 7 days and I had past that time. She didn't try to honor her companies policy that I was following because it didn't align with her store? She gave me no solutions even after I told her the about GameStop email instructions. Heard a radio ad Asking Customers to go to Gamestop and sell their used PlayStation. I had a brand new PS4 and three games I could give them for free. I called this Torrance store ahead of time and asked if I could bring it over. Of course they said yes. Upon arrival I could tell the guy working behind the counter was a clown. I walked in with the PS4 and he told me to get in line. As he helped other people he was rude and condescending. Once it was finally my turn he tells me he can't look at the unit right now he's too busy. Why did you have me wait in line? Anyway you earned yourself a one star review for being somebody that thinks you're super important when you're just not, you acted like a clown. Buyers Beware! I was misled into purchasing a pro rewards membership by one of the salesman here. He had assured me that I would be able to use my pro rewards points for PSN gift cards for context - I now only buy my games online via the PlayStation network, very rarely do I purchase physical game discs. Upon checking the GameStop online store, I discovered that these reward points can only be used for GameStop products, third-party gift cards are ineligible for points redemption. GameStop has a long history of misleading sales practices and straight up predatory pricing, so I can't say I'm surprised. But this is the first time I have been straight up lied to by an associate here hence why I felt the need to write this review. Also, GameStop no longer purchases new games back from you, they will only give you the used game price. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but it was another frustrating discovery of mine that I was not able to sell my new copy of madden NFL 23 that I have not opened. I've had decent experiences at other GameStop locations, not sure what is up with the management of this location. They also never pick up the phone, I tested it this morning by calling their line while I was in the store but I never heard the phone ring. 1 Positive from my visit today - one of the controllers contained within my PS5 bundle had a malfunctioning trackpad. The sales associate was able to replace the controller for free for me, even though I did not purchase the warranty. Personally, I feel like this is bare minimum in customer service, if I purchase a machine and it doesn't work right when I open it out of the box, I believe that should fall on the vendor to right that situation. read more

Horrible customer service! We called to inquire about a game and Cindy (or Sydney) picked up the call and said "yes" that they have the game and hung up. We didn't even get a chance to ask more. We kept calling and nothing. She finally picked up and said "yes, I think you called us multiple times". We only spoke to her one time since they decided not to pick up their phone after that. Then, when we we were about to ask for the pricing she just hung up again. I can only imagine the service they provide in store. We are never going back to this store. I would rather drive a little bit more than to deal with rude employees. read more

It depends on who is at the shop on what day. Sometimes they have great customer service and other times not good. I notice they usually have better customer service in the evening shift and if you go to this store I'd recommend going at that time. Also, I wish they had a little more stock. It seems like they're always low on games and never seem to have a lot of diverse inventory for the Switch. read more

DO NOT BUY from Gamestop: So the readers and hopefully the Gamestop people know this review is legit, my account #3880224287666 My order number: 1100000044474732 Ordered an iPhone 12 Pro Max on Feb 3rd. Before I ordered I called customer service and asked if I could get more details (other than the feature details that are basically just pasted from Apples site) such as a few photos of the actual phone, battery life etc. NOPE. Gamestop is simply unable or unwilling to do that. Red flag #1. I ordered it anyway. On Feb 8th (5 days after Iordered) I checked shipping status. Still has NOT SHIPPED. I called customer service. SORRY sir. I'll call someone else to deal with this. Red flag #2. I asked the customer service rep who she was going to contact and could I speak with them. NOPE. She offered to refund shipping charges. I suggested they keep the shipping charges and over-nite my phone. NOPE. Red flag #3. Finally the phone gets shipped. The shipping info indicated arrival by Feb 10th. NOPE. Signature was required and delivery estimate was sometime before 8PM. So I waited at home ALL DAY for a package that never showed up (hey GameSTONK, maybe change mail carrier). Finally arrived on Feb 11th. A full day longer than Gamestops already generous shipping estimate of 3-7 days. I take my iPhone to Verizon. Verizon installs their SIM and my new iPhone rejects it. The WRONG phone was sent or it was still LOCKED. Red flags #4 AND #5. I call customer service....again. Totally useless, won't let me speak with a supervisor, no other ideas or suggestions to remedy the situation, etc I even called a local Gamestop store to see if they had a tech that could unlock the phone or help out. NOPE. So now I have to repackage it myself, ship it back, wait for the incompetent wherehouse to receive it (remember, they couldn't even ship it on time the first go around) and then hopefully get a refund. This will most likely take another 5-8 business days. And I still don't have a phone to run my business. You'd think that with all the money this place was GIFTED the past 18 months (thanks to WallStreetBets) that they could muster up a simple transaction like this one. NOPE. There's a closer Gamestop to my house but I honestly don't mind driving all the way over here for one of the sales associate, James!!! I brought in around 30 games I wanted to sell and he quickly went through them all while making conversation. He made me feel very welcome and always had a smile on his face. I also asked him a few questions regarding where I can sell my JP games and he gave me a bunch of different stores around the area that he knew would accept them! Thank you! I came by another time after work with just the intention to say hello and look at the new switch games. It was 5 minutes before closing and I saw that they were taking preorders for Pokemon US/UM so I asked if I should come by another time because I knew they had to close the store soon. James insisted it was fine and let us stay way past their closing time (Sorry!!). I came by again the other day in order to preorder Splatoon and a different sales associate rung me up. It was a completely different experience and I didn't feel as welcome. It just seemed like he was trying to get rid of me when I wasn't even there for more than 10 minutes. I had to run in here for a gift card for my nephew for Christmas. It's a very convenient location, next to Pinkberry on Hawthorne and Torrance BLVD. I had great customer service there, despite my phone ringing and messaging like crazy, (thanks Mary C.) as I was trying to check out. This review is only for this particular store and salesperson, and only for the lack of forethought on the part of the salesperson. Pretty bummed about this experience today. My 6 year old went in with his Grandma today (because they were in the neighborhood for something else) and picked up a Used Wii Sports Resort game. He's never played this before, and he had no idea it required the additional Wii Motion Plus accessory in order to even work. I mean, come on...the little guy is only 6, and you can't expect Grandma to know anything different. The specific lettering on the case is about a 3mm font. Well...the salesman J****, didn't mention anything either... Aren't the employees supposed to know their games and what is needed to make them work? At least have the forethought to say "Hey, I want to make sure you know this requires an additional piece, or it won't work...at all." Maybe we already own it, maybe we don't...but at least take the chance and ask, what could it hurt? OK so what should I expect? It's GameStop...right? It's not like they'd train the employees to know to ask anything like that...right? It's not one of the old school mom & pop shops where the employees have a sense of pride in their company and want to make the customers happy, and have return business. Nah, it's about the benjamins...at least that's what it seems like. All that aside...it was just completely heartbreaking to see the little guy soooo sad that he wasn't able to play this game, which he'd been anxiously waiting for all day. And tomorow is school...so no Wii games for the rest of the week now. This sucks more for him, than anyone else, and that's something that turns me off to doing business with this particular store. I came here with my grandma to help her return a few video games she'd purchased for my grandpa. It was the day after Christmas, so it was extremely packed. The line went all the way to the back of the store and then snaked to the other wall. The employees did a great job of managing the line and making sure they assisted everyone who needed trades or to find new games while they waited in line. My grandma returned three games and a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription. I was surprised that they let her return the $15 subscription without a hassle! All three employees working were incredibly friendly and helpful. I have to take off one star for charging twice as much as Target for two of the games we bought at GameStop, though. Back at it again. I've succumbed to my nostalgia of Pokemon. Go, Pikachu - wipe the sorrows of graduation and permanent job searching off my soul! The staff is very helpful and pleasant here. I definitely got a kick out of their humor when long lines and late hours can provide a comedic situation. It's all about perspective, isn't it? This location doesn't have many of the pre-owned / new games I want, so I'll usually drive to Galleria. Still, it's worthwhile to check and call them if you live nearby. No biggie. The prices are a bit of a drawback for me - for both games and devices. My most recent purchase was the pre-owned Nintendo 3DS XL: it was over $150 here without the year warranty. Through Nintendo, however, I found and purchased a refurbished 3DS XL with 2-year warranty, charger, manual and AR cards for $115. It's definitely best to explore all your options! Manager always rushes and acts condescending. I never get called for preorders and they never seem to answer the phone. Always expect a fake sounding worker who'll berate you with questions. One of the bigger stores I've visited. Has a nice selection of new and used titles for all platforms. The staff was very friendly and chatty (genuine not forced). One of the only gamestops in the area that actually bends over backwards for their customers. The manager, Alex, goes out of his way anytime I am in there. The other employees there also bust their asses to keep customers happy while staying cool about slippery situations that could happen during busy hours. This post is mainly for the salesclerk. It was 10 am when the store opened. Asked the salesclerk for a Red nintendo 3ds and she said she didnt have one in red. She said she only had a black new 3ds XL. We asked do you have a used regular3ds to compare but she was determined to sell us the black 3ds XL mind you we wanted a Red one. She went in the back to see if she had a used regular 3ds and came out with a black 3ds XL new for $199 and proceeded to check is out. We stood there in awe because we weren't ready to purchase the game yet. We asked her we wanted to see the regular 3Ds to compare it. What pissed me off next was when the phone rang and she walked off and answered it. Im a paying customer, the least she could have done was gave me the courtesy of excusing herself politely. Of all the gamestop I have been to each offers to check another gamestop for stock. This saleswoman didnt even offer to check if there was another RED 3ds in stock anywhere and settled on selling me a black one that I didnt ask for. Please save your time and money and do not do go to this gamestop. I had to call another gamestop and the kind lady name Angel at the PCH one in harbor city was really helpful. I came into Gamestop 2 months ago in April to pre-order the Last of Us. A woman was selling the game making it seem to be an amazing game. So i pre order it from her and she asks Xbox or Ps3. I say Xbox because that is the only console I own. I come to find out last week (2 months later) that the game doesn't even exist for Xbox. SO i call today to find out what I can do. Another woman answers and puts me on hold for 6 minutes. Then comes back to tell me that I have to drive back down to the store and they will put the money back on my card. Why would they sell a game that does not exist on a console? Why would they have me do all the work for their mistake? I believe this Gamestop definitely needs to hire some new employees because they seem to have a very slow staff. I highly suggest going to Target or Bestbuy before ever coming here. The games are more expensive and they do not give you full price back. They also are lazy and not informed of all knowledge of video games when that is all they sell there. read more

Gamestop is game stop nothing new to see here they're are the only living standing game store in the south bay area. How can you contend with places like this who take over any small stores that do the same business, you can't and that's why they exist and small stores don't. Been a long time customer of Game Stop and have always been impressed by the commitment this bard appeared to have for gamers. That's why it pains me deeply to write this review. That being said this is more of an overall review of Game Stop inc as a whole than of this one location. I will never shop in any from with Game Stop or any of its subsidiaries ever again. And I hope you don't either I recent purchased an Xbox One stereo headset, Aug 31st to be exact, at this location at the advice of one of the staff members. I was very pleased with my purchase until it decided to die on me for no apparent reason. I wasn't happy when it died but was optimistic that since I bought it at a store that claims to support the gaming community, I would be taken care of. Why wouldn't I considering that every purchase I've made for games and consoles has been with Game Stop... Including a new controller just yesterday. Words cannot describe my utter disappointment when I was told that they only offer 30 day return on what is clearly a defective product. Today is what... 11 days beyond what I would call a very short defective product return policy. If I'm just going to be a number then I'll go to a giant retailer who won't blink an eye at a broken 70 dollar headset. This GameStop is hands down the BEST GameStop around the South Bay Area. Forget other locations like Carson, Forget Sepulveda those guys won't even bother helping you out. if you have to make a call to ask for something this is the place to call. if you any questions this is the place to ask. They are more attentive to their customers (thank you Denise I believe her name was) for instance, Pokémon 20th anniversary have you going to a GameStop to acquire these Pokémon cards with a code in it to download that mythical Pokémon for the current months theme. So you go in there and asked them for it (it's free) what Carson and Sepulveda will tell you is that they don't have the cards period BUT Hawthorne location will tell you that they don't have the cards but will gladly print you out the code instead. See the difference? They're also better stock than the other mentioned location and a much friendlier and knowledgeable staff aswell. Thanks Hawthorne location! read more
