This was our first coming here and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic!. We had The Carson City roll, Captain Crunch, Godzilla roll, Protein roll and the Crown Royal. We have found a new Sushi place!!

Very rice forward, scant fish sushi. Rip off for $50! We've had the poke next door and it's better

It was pretty good. The pieces are a little big but it's plenty. Service could be a little nicer. :)

Just one plate of the many nigiri plates I got with the ayce! 5 stars! Hamachi, escolar, seared salmon (the best) and unagi.

Whoaaaa, great nigiri sushi. Probably the best I have ever had at an ayce sushi restaurant! The pieces were small and perfect fish to rice ratio. I ordered quite a bit and because the size was so good I could eat more and I appreciated it. The only other item I ordered was the chicken karrage. It was made to order so it was still crispy and hot! It was only two pieces so left room to order more which is nice! The menu here is almost all included on the ayce and offers a lot of choices. They have a sushi bar so you can sit there as well as the tables. When we arrived we were the only ones there at lunch time so the services was super quick. As the restaurant started to get busy the single server was not as attentive and I felt rushed by him since I was the only one in our party of 4 that ordered the ayce. I could have eaten more for sure, but felt cut off, maybe because the others at my table were done eating... Must mention how clean this restaurant was as well! Everything was spotless including the restrooms. Will def return and highly recommend!

Have been looking for a great sushi spot and may have finally found it. We usually aren't ayce fans but decided to go for it since it was our 1st time there. Our favorites were Carson City roll. Ganbaru roll and favorite by far was the CR7. All of the fish tasted really fresh and the restaurant was very clean.

My family & I tried this place out & were pleasantly surprised. The menu had some rolls we hadn't tried along with our regulars. Everything was very tasty & fresh. The rolls were the perfect size for us. Our daughters ordered the salmon platter & the tempura shrimp platter. Both of those were good also. The salmon platter was exceptional! We all had the tempura bananas for dessert which were yummy too. The waitresses we had were very friendly & kept our drinks full. The sushi chefs forgot a couple of the rolls we had ordered, but that's the only thing I can say that wasn't great (but even with that, they made the rolls as soon as we mentioned a couple were forgotten & apologized). The restaurant itself is very bright, clean & inviting. We will definitely be back!

Always good! Always amazing service! This is our go to sushi place now in all of Carson city.

Plant walls. Not the kind that needs watering though.

This place will shoot up to number one really fast! Freshest fish! And they have Escolar! Friendly staff. AYCE includes appetizers and dessert. Reasonable as the quality was super! We were actually headed to In n out. Then we saw this place and made a bee line. They've not been open for long but get yourself down here! They know what they are doing! Say hello to William and Luis, nice guys and made all our treats to perfection.

Excellent food quality!!! Surprises!!!! The karage chicken fantastically moist! Really mussels in a spoon too! Very friendly service! While its not fancy seating when really good suschi is goal!! This is the place!

Good sushi for a good price. I had the AYCE. It was good. Service was quick. Good presentation. 4 stars instead of 5 because the qual egg shooter was terrible and had no qual egg. Some of the sushi rolls had a lot of rice and very little filling. Otherwise everything was on point.

Look--when it comes to sushi, I'm loyal. I know what I like, I have my spot, and I don't sway. But word on the street was that this new sushi in Carson was worth checking out. So, of course, curiosity won--and wow, am I glad it did! This place is legit. In a region packed with sushi heavyweights, this spot holds its own--and dare I say, might've knocked a few giants off their thrones. First off, the rolls are slightly smaller with less rice than most places--which might sound like a negative, but it's actually genius. You don't get stuffed too fast, which means you can sample MORE. More rolls = more joy = winning at life. The ambiance? Fun, energetic, but not overwhelming. The service? Michelin star-level plate ninjas. Empty plate? Gone in 60 seconds. Water low? Already refilled before you noticed. And the rolls? They came out fast. Like, "did they read our minds?" fast. Every single one we ordered was spot-on, beautifully made, and landed on our table in under five minutes. I don't know what kind of sushi magic this is--but I am here for it. If you're in the area and looking to expand your sushi horizons without straying too far from the classics, this place is 100% worth it. I'll still be loyal to my usual spot...I just have two now ;) But Carson's got a new contender that might just steal your sushi heart.

The upside down shrimp and tuna were pretty tasty and Ceviche roll was also good. Skip the albacore.
    Shira M.

Its ok. I liked the ceviche roll. The albacore was not fresh at all. But the rest was ok. We were one of 2 tables and the server seemed miserable and not very attentive.

A new sushi place in Carson City The Food was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. Ganbaru is in the shopping center where the In-N-Out is in Carson City and a little strip mall. Fantastic food outstanding service all you can eat sushi. Everything was so tasty that when it comes to sushi how do you stop? Seriously ! you have to at some point so when you're in Carson City or you live in Carson City, come check out the sushi at Ganbaru! You won't be disappointed!

Restaurant review - oishi sushi in Carson City NV…read more It's evacuation time! At the time of this writing the Hawk fire is going on and a group of us evacuees wanted some sushi in Carson City. Keep in mind, we were HUNGRY, as it had been a really hectic busy couple of days. Two options presented themselves, both in the same parking area, and Oishi was one of them. However, I had questions, So I called. Do they have soy wrap, since my wife doesn't eat nori? Yes. And, are they ADA compliant, as my wife has a ACL tear and is in a wheelchair? They said yes. And so we told our friends to head to Oishi and we would meet them there. Found out quickly the restaurant was baaaarely ADA compliant. It was Very, very narrow, and hard to navigate with a wheel chair. If there are people sitting in tables, everyone has to get up and move in order to get the chair around. So, just a little awkward, before we even get to the table. Which we finally get to. We ordered drinks at 5:40. Drained my tea at 6pm....and didn't get a refill till 6:17. A Buddy ordered cold sake at 5:40 as well.... but never got it. He Asked again at 6:17, and finally got it at 6:26. We turned in our food order slip at 5:50pm. First food to arrive was Miso soup at 6:05. Honestly one of the better miso soups I've had from places like this. Perfectly salted and seasoned. Green onion and a little kombu as well. I dig it. Bunch of apps got to the table at 6:21. First was Tempura tofu. Crispy crunchy hot tofu cube served with sweet chili sauce. Good stuff, though the tofu itself wasn't marinaded or anything. Still, not bad. Yakiton, stuffed with crab salad and sweet sauce on top. Big size, satisfying. Like a giant crab salad egg roll. Potsickers. Crispy crunchy edges but tender filling.... really nice. Crab ball was pretty great too! Like a giant crab salad meatball with toppings, and really crispy. Bunch of rolls got to the table at 6:30. Most were pretty great. However, my wife's Special rolls with soy paper still had not come out by 6:45. So I asked about them. They asked "ok, you know it's a dollar extra per roll right?" Told them yes.... didn't care....my wife couldn't eat nori. Five minutes later she got her soy paper rolls, at 6:50. Both of which she reported enjoying a lot. However, at 6:50 the table still hadn't gotten the nigiri. It was officially an hour after it had been ordered at this point and we were hungry! And then five minutes later, we got some of the nigiri, at 6:55. Got the rest around 7:05. Honestly? Kinda worth the wait. Nigiri had really thick pieces on top of well seasoned rice with sesame seeds on it. Some awkward cuts of fish present, torn edges and such, but we went late in the day so it's expected. Most was Very satisfying. Seared tuna and pepper tuna were two of my favorites, but the eel was very good as well. Everything was Served on wooden boats too, Honestly kinda fun. And the staff? Really nice. Little older lady, huge smile, really funny and friendly. Dessert was served at 7:20pm. While everyone was eating I asked their opinions. Well my friends who had been imbibing the "all you can drink hot sake with all you can eat" said they loved it. I, one of the only non drinkers there, also really liked the food, though the wait was a little bothersome. But honestly, our friends had a really good time, we all left full, all of what we got was pretty good, and I was left feeling that I'd like to go back. Though I might wait until my wife is out of the wheelchair before I do so, and hopefully there isn't a evacuation going on. 4 out of 5 stars.

These did not disappoint! Properly cooked. NOT chewy/rubbery. Slight kick to them. I ate a few orders! Lol. I also had the Donald duck, Cajun salmon, Okie dokie and the Geisha. The Cajun salmon surprised me with the flavor. I wish I could have ate more but I was so full at the end. Donald duck was the normal you'd expect at any sushi place. The Jalapeños on the Geisha were tempura style and so good. The Okie dokie was a little off. Some bites were over powered with cream while other bites did not have any cream cheese. I use the juice from the mussels to pour over my rolls and enhanced the flavors even more. Coming back here again

Unfortunately it ended up being one of the more disappointing all-you-can-eat sushi experiences I've ever had. We were seated around 6:15 p.m. and got our drinks fairly quickly. I asked for water with lemon but received plain water in a stainless steel tumbler. The cup looked nice enough, although it left a metallic taste. We placed our appetizer and sushi order around 6:20 p.m. Miso soup arrived about five minutes later. It was light and tasty with tofu, green onions, and seaweed, though it could have used a little more seasoning. The first appetizers came out around 6:40 p.m. The yakiton was filled mostly with krab salad and had a slightly cold center. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the crispy exterior I was expecting. The popcorn shrimp was completely coated in sweet chili sauce, which softened any crunch it might have had, and it had a slightly fishy aftertaste. The pot stickers were fully cooked and generously filled with a decent flavor, but they were pale and not crisp at all. Things went downhill from there. My wife ordered a Guapo Roll wrapped in soy paper but never received it. We were eventually told the kitchen was backed up and that it would be put on the "next ticket." By that point, the experience had already become frustrating. Several appetizers simply never arrived with the rest of the food. When we asked about them, the staff couldn't explain why. They finally showed up around 7:00 p.m., but they weren't worth the wait. The egg roll wrappers were visiblly undercooked, with raw funny wrapper, and tasted like something you'd cook from a frozen food isle. The fried oysters were gummy and had the texture of biting into uncooked dough with a fishy center. The fried scallops were bland, fishy, and lacked any crispness. Overall, nearly every fried item seemed undercooked or improperly fried. One thing I also noticed was how many rolls rely on the same ingredients. It felt like almost every specialty roll contained either krab mix or salmon, making the menu seem less varied than it first appears. Hope you like krab salad and salmon thirty different ways! The bright spot was the nigiri. The fish tasted fresh, the rice was well prepared, and both the eel and Cajun tuna were enjoyable. I wish I had just gotten a bunch of that. I also thought the Big Man Roll and Macho Roll were solid choices and would probably order those again. Unfortunately, they weren't enough to save the overall experience. For $117 for three people and two sodas, I expected much better food quality, consistency, and service. Final rating: 2 out of 5 stars. The two stars are earned almost entirely by the nigiri. Between the missing orders, inconsistent service, and underwhelming fried food, I don't see myself returning.

You'll find more of the non-traditional rolls and appetizers here. The hot sauce is really flowing here. One thing we had here I never saw in any sushi place was this Jalapeno Popper roll. A jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese battered and deep fried and sliced like a roll. Not really want I expected in a sushi place , but I guess it works here. Other more traditional offerings were available, though with that abundance of hot sauce. The dining ambiance is not what I called fine dining, but more a working class vibe ... especially listening to the swearing and cussing from a nearby table.
