Sunshine roll (includes eel on top)
    Laura C.

Prices seemed a pinch high (in retrospect I should have gotten the all you can eat for $38 for dinner but it was just shy of 3:30pm and I didn't know how much I'd be eating because I didn't know what to expect size wise for the rolls). The server was not as proactive as I would have liked but I believe the young man may have been new (for example after seating us and taking our drink orders he asked us if we were dining in or taking out). The sushi chefs were fast. The robot waiter was... reliable and musical lol. The food was good. The miso soup tasted particularly good and I enjoyed my sunshine roll. This roll included unagi and it was really good quality fresh eel. The tempura shrimp in crystal roll however was made with a thick and very crunch batter-- not the light and crisp tempura I'm used to. My husband enjoyed his ramen. He said the noodles were a bit thicker and chewier than he was used to, and the broth definitely made ginger a star note, but he enjoyed it. The ambiance is nice. It's a clean restaurant with soft music playing and a nice atmosphere. They even have some large toys in the waiting area for kids to enjoy which I thought was especially thoughtful of the owners. Overall, I'd like to return and try the different offerings of nigiri on the AYCE plan. I also noticed they had some interesting rolls-- for example, some included honey mustard! I would echo a previous review that the food here might taste better than many sushi places in Reno (can't say if it would beat my favorite spot without trying more fish, but the freshness and quality of their unagi was a strong indicator that this place might be able to put up a good fight against my favorite spot in Reno).

This photos is a pic of how good the food was.

Wife and I had a really hard time finding a local sushi spot that was as good as some in Reno/Carson and Sakura may beat them all. We've been here a total of 4 times and each time has been amazing. Both regular sushi and cooked sushi roles had good proportions and tasted fantastic. PLUS they have freaking ramen. We had the black garlic ramen which was just as good as a local spot we used to go to in Reno. This is now our go to place for Ramen and Sushi. Empty plate pics meaning full bellies lol

So happy this place has been providing the best environment and hospitality. The food is def top notch to say the least! Thank you guys!

An excellent example of creative cuisine. The nigiri is formed with authentic technique and properly seasoned rice, and several of the innovative sushi rolls feature flavor combinations that really awaken the palate--such as the perfect balance of cucumber, tempura, tuna paste, tamago, chili sauce, salmon skin, and mayo. I would confidently say that this restaurant tastes better than most Japanese restaurants in the U.S., and it is also very reasonably priced.

Food was just delicious. I got there an hour before their lunch ended and the restaurant was empty. The price was right. Service was very fast. See pictures.

    Black Garlic Ramen!

The braised pork belly is so tasty and tender. Tastes like originally from Japan. The bento has lumpia!!!! Who does that? Ja-Pinoy at its best!

I dined in for AYCE sushi last week while in the Minden/Gardnerville area. I sat at the bar, sushi chefs switched not once, but three times during my lunch. They were great with getting my food out. The bar seating was a little awkward, I felt it was too low and has a hard time conversing with the sushi chefs making my food. I didn't mind that there was only another couple dining, but no one picked up my empty plates or refilled my drink at all. I'd give less stars based solely on that one factor alone, but the sushi chefs made up for the front of the houses lack of service. Prices are a tad bit pricier than our local sushi joints for ayce lunch. They also offer a poke bar with a variety of toppings. If I didn't have time to kill, I would have tried a bowl. I'm not sure if it's their rice, but I left completely bloated. I'd be willing to try a poke bowl. I may just stick to my regular sushi spots for ayce.

Amazing service, Great owners, Food is OFF THE CHARTS and they are super professional. Way fresher than the competitors around here, not to mention it's only $28 for all you can eat lunch and $34 all you can eat dinner. This place genuinely feels like a Michelin restaurant and it's really clean. The vibes are amazing in here and just great people. I would highly recommend the Summer time!

    Very happy after eating this

8/29/26 OMG 2 yrs…read moresince I have been and it was for a yelp event. We just don't make it down to Carson that much. I was hanging with my cousins and we wanted sushi and I recommended this spot of course. They hadn't been since New Ownership. We came in about 6 PM and was seated immediately. Sarah was our server and was Excellent. I believe she is one of the Owners. Correct me if I'm wrong!?! We ordered some Saki and Beer to start and order of Jalapeños Poppers and Mussels . They were delicious. Then we ordered a bunch of different stuff that I for the life of me can't remember the names of them all . (Pics with no descriptions) Sorry ! Everything we got was delicious and my cousins really enjoyed it as well. It was cool too that they had an outdoor seating area of just a few tables, which was really nice. Will have to come back soon so Delicious ! Enjoy !!!!

It was my first visit and all the amazing yelp reviews. Definitely suede my decision to pick this place over all the other options in Carson. First, parking is easy and the location is cute. Interior is clean and smelled good, and the wait staff were quick to greet us and seat us. Appetizers and drinks came quickly as well, and we were checked on frequently, although not too frequently. OK, the Sushi... So freaking good! I was amazed at how each roll truly feels individual, they are not using a premade base roll and putting a random fish and sauce combination on top of it and renaming it. The amount of fish in each bite was generous, flavor combinations were amazing, and I truly felt like this was a different sushi experience from any other that I have had recently. I will absolutely be making a trip back down just for this restaurant!

I wasn't feeling well and Chris G has been trying to get me to try this place but I'm not a poke girl. I guess I always knew.... My husband would have taken it back for a refund but he was on his way to a bbq. I should have followed my gut and just told him no. Super frustrating since that was supposed to be my dinner. If you don't have a decent avocado then say you unfortunately are out but who thinks this is ok to serve to a paying customer! And this wasn't cheap.

These did not disappoint! Properly cooked. NOT chewy/rubbery. Slight kick to them. I ate a few orders! Lol. I also had the Donald duck, Cajun salmon, Okie dokie and the Geisha. The Cajun salmon surprised me with the flavor. I wish I could have ate more but I was so full at the end. Donald duck was the normal you'd expect at any sushi place. The Jalapeños on the Geisha were tempura style and so good. The Okie dokie was a little off. Some bites were over powered with cream while other bites did not have any cream cheese. I use the juice from the mussels to pour over my rolls and enhanced the flavors even more. Coming back here again

I wanted to like this place, as my wife, mother and law and I were staying at a local hotel and…read moredon't have many options for cooking. Unfortunately it ended up being one of the more disappointing all-you-can-eat sushi experiences I've ever had. We were seated around 6:15 p.m. and got our drinks fairly quickly. I asked for water with lemon but received plain water in a stainless steel tumbler. The cup looked nice enough, although it left a metallic taste. We placed our appetizer and sushi order around 6:20 p.m. Miso soup arrived about five minutes later. It was light and tasty with tofu, green onions, and seaweed, though it could have used a little more seasoning. The first appetizers came out around 6:40 p.m. The yakiton was filled mostly with krab salad and had a slightly cold center. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the crispy exterior I was expecting. The popcorn shrimp was completely coated in sweet chili sauce, which softened any crunch it might have had, and it had a slightly fishy aftertaste. The pot stickers were fully cooked and generously filled with a decent flavor, but they were pale and not crisp at all. Things went downhill from there. My wife ordered a Guapo Roll wrapped in soy paper but never received it. We were eventually told the kitchen was backed up and that it would be put on the "next ticket." By that point, the experience had already become frustrating. Several appetizers simply never arrived with the rest of the food. When we asked about them, the staff couldn't explain why. They finally showed up around 7:00 p.m., but they weren't worth the wait. The egg roll wrappers were visiblly undercooked, with raw funny wrapper, and tasted like something you'd cook from a frozen food isle. The fried oysters were gummy and had the texture of biting into uncooked dough with a fishy center. The fried scallops were bland, fishy, and lacked any crispness. Overall, nearly every fried item seemed undercooked or improperly fried. One thing I also noticed was how many rolls rely on the same ingredients. It felt like almost every specialty roll contained either krab mix or salmon, making the menu seem less varied than it first appears. Hope you like krab salad and salmon thirty different ways! The bright spot was the nigiri. The fish tasted fresh, the rice was well prepared, and both the eel and Cajun tuna were enjoyable. I wish I had just gotten a bunch of that. I also thought the Big Man Roll and Macho Roll were solid choices and would probably order those again. Unfortunately, they weren't enough to save the overall experience. For $117 for three people and two sodas, I expected much better food quality, consistency, and service. Final rating: 2 out of 5 stars. The two stars are earned almost entirely by the nigiri. Between the missing orders, inconsistent service, and underwhelming fried food, I don't see myself returning.
