Walking here, I passed the "sad McDonald's" at which I had a poor experience a few years ago. From what I could see, it was still pretty empty in there. Maybe everybody is coming here? The guy behind the counter was probably more efficient than the entire staff at previously mentioned "sad place" seamlessly going between taking orders, preparing orders, and serving orders. And what delicious options they are! My Hungry Man breakfast sandwich (which I had place on a bagel instead of the roll options - no problem) was HEAVY. I'm talking "shot put heavy." It was loaded with all the things: bacon, eggs, cheese, and home fries, and double-wrapped to keep it warm. Our other meal, the blueberry pancakes with bacon and eggs, was equally fresh and hot. And if you're in a hurry, there is a full wall of coolers with grab-and-go types of options. It was pretty obvious which customers were regulars vs. tourists. The regulars came in, BOOM with the order, and the tourists (like us) spent a couple of minutes taking in all the meal options, of which there are a LOT. And you get substantially more compared to what you might get at PMSP (previously mentioned sad place), which I had to walk by on my way back to my nearby hotel, wielding my shot-put-heavy still warm breakfast sandwich. read more

I found this business on Yelp. I was staying at a hotel around the corner so I popped in for a takeaway breakfast. It's your typical New York deli. Clean and open. I agree with the previous posters; the menu prices on Yelp are nowhere near the actual prices. What I ordered was 50% higher in reality than what is on Yelp. Ok, I love American breakfast so I have high expectations. The bacon was terrible--gristly and limp, and the home fries were soft and a little soggy. The eggs don't taste like natural eggs. On the positive side the pancakes in my order were good. The people were nice. They were dressed in clean uniforms. But I won't go back. I'm sure some people love it but it wasn't for me. read more

One of my favorite things about New York is the amount of quality deli's in any given area. Being able to pop in, get a good sandwich and some soup is what it's all about- I live a simple life. Anyway, on a recent trip to New York City, I was lucky enough to be staying near the Garden Café. It's open 24hrs so I could get my bagel fix any time I wanted. Why are these bagels so freaking good? The shop was small, but wasn't cramped. Had a few tables and chairs for you to sit. A big no loitering sign which tells you to make sure you're done eating within 20 minutes or they'll call the cops- I heart NYC. My first visit I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with bacon. The chicken salad was amazing. The bacon was delicious. The bread was stale. Again, it was probably 2am when I ordered this so who knows how long it had been in that cooler. I let it slide purely out of hunger and ate the good pieces. Plus, the taste of the chicken made up for it. My second trip was for breakfast- a sesame bagel with sausage, egg, cheese. Now this is what I'm talking about! Everything about this breakfast sandwich was perfect. If this sandwich and I went to high school I'd write, "don't ever change" in its yearbook because I loved everything about it. Gooey cheese, a perfectly toasted bagel, and the tasty piece of sausage. I could have this every day. The guys at the counter were always nice. The service was quick and the prices were reasonable, or could even be described as cheap. My breakfast sandwich ran about $4 which is really pretty standard if you ask me and you get a really good meal. Definitely made me a fan of this place and would go back any time I visit NYC again. read more

Hidden little gem here that I found looking for a roll of paper towels this morning! From the outside it seems like a regular liquor store but once inside ... Great little deli ,very clean and well stocked. Behind the counter is a flattop where they make breakfast to order and other lunch/dinner items ... Couldn't believe how fresh and appealing the items in the case were.. Definitely a lot of care and pride of business exists here. Had the pancakes... Very light and fluffy comparable to any higher end breakfast joint IMO , sausage which was average but very fresh tasting and grilled to order as well. Also had a breakfast croisssant with the same sausage and freshly scrambled eggs on a light and flaky croissant... Perfect! Glad I stumbled onto this great little spot! read more

I live in this neighborhood, so I go to this deli a lot. It used to be warm and inviting but now the staff has changed, and it feels like a convenience market. I recently ordered delivery: a breakfast sandwich and added a hashbrown for my boyfriend while I ordered a veggie omelet. Both orders had a funny taste to them...like maybe the grill hasn't been cleaned in awhile? Or maybe there was raw meat next to the eggs? Or maybe someone dropped our orders and then brushed them off before wrapping them up. Whatever the "extra" flavor, I can still taste it, and it isn't pleasant. I'll still come here for small convenience items, but I will not be trying my chances again with that grill. AND they forgot my hashbrown we paid $1.50 extra for. +Thanks for the delivery fee $1.99. On a recent trip to NY, I stayed at the Eventi Hotel on 30th and 6th Ave. There were multiple bodegas in the area with a similar special; breakfast sandwich for $2.99 with a free coffee. I decided to check out Garden Deli because it had more customers than the other two when I walked by. When I cruised in, you could tell the people were regulars. Service was friendly and the dudes behind the counter were busting their asses to get the food prepared. New Yorkers are always in such a hurry. I opted for the two eggs with cheese and bacon on a bagel. It was freaking delicious. Properly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and slightly under-toasted bagel. What more can you ask for? They carry all Boar's Head brand meats, which seemed to be the norm in NY, but not always the case in CA. What else can I say, it's a bodega in NY. But with cheap prices and good service, I would definitely return. read more

Ok so they had great pressed juices here. I loved it, but the service was lacking a little. It took a little bit to get our custom made juices but I'm not complaining. This place had some pretty good healthy options. I don't know why I'm so surprised about the fresh pressed juices here but I am. I am an official fan of this salad bar. It costs $5.95 ($6.48 with tax) to get a salad with 6 ingredients (one can be a meat). This is definitely a better deal than the fancier places nearby, especially since all the ingredients are included in that deal (avocado, a whole chopped egg, artichoke, etc.) However, the selection is not huge, so for example, today there were only 2 meat choices: grilled or breaded chicken. After being asked to repeat my order 5 times between 2 different guys, and waiting 15-20 min, I got something completely wrong and inedible. I ordered a spinach wrap with egg, muenster cheese, spinach tomato, mayo, salt and pepper. I got a spinach wrap with an omelette that had spinach and red peppers in it, american cheese, no mayo, no tomato, no salt and pepper. I only get a 30 min lunch break so I couldn't go back to return it. Plus I was charged $2 more than my usual spot. This isnt the first time they messed my order up too. I was in the Garden Deli last Thursday evening and bought a pack of cigarettes. I was charged $15. I went in there the following evening (at about 6:30 pm) and was charged $16. I asked why the price is higher and he said "the price went up". I was curious so the next day I went in and asked the price of cigarettes and was told $15. I started a new job a few months ago and was introduced to this place by my coworkers. I finally had to take some time to give them a review. Every morning they make me a custom breakfast of my choice using fresh veggies and egg. On occasion I go for lunch and I usually get a sandwich, but they have other things like panini, juices, etc. Today, I asked if they had any guacamole. They treated me like a VIP and made me some using fresh avocado, onions, cilantro, tomato, and jalapeño. My coworkers went there after me and they got freshly made fajitas.
