Yeah the experience was that good. Ok, so here we go. I went to the off the off the 405 Concert Series but dined here first. As soon as I entered, I informed the hosts that I wanted to dine al fresco but apparently outside sitting was not open. Damn shame too, the setting sun painted the Brentwood area with a hue that was best appreciated without walls. One of the hosts took me to the dining room and sat me in the very chair I would have chosen for myself. I sat with my back behind the action and the opportunity to view the wonder of the outside from a place of comfort that felt like I was spoiled by opportunity, view, comfort and the earthly magic of nature summering. One of the pictures I caught had As an aside, I have identified as a foodie for a while now, close to two decades so I know what a meal can do when it is enhanced by envirionment that is majestic and enveloping. But this visit was special because it took me back to the basics of fine dining: a subliime three course menu that made living great one moutful at a time. The first course was a melon Gazapacho. I finished it to the last drop. I took a picture of the empty bowl because in a small yet comical way it reminded me of an inverted UFO-- take me to the chef that made this I will make him/her/them etc. my leader. The melon taste was a summer flavor chilled to be good. I cannot help, if I added some liquor to this chilled soup would I make a concotion worthy of praise or lament. The best dish of the meal came in the middle. The sirloin, with yukon gold potato mash, pepers, chimichurri sauce and maybe other itmes that I did not picture. Earlier in the meal, before the soup, so really before the meal, I asked my server Aweer (who will I spot in a minute or so) if there were dinner rolls to serve with the meal. She said of course and soon after mysellf and my dining neighbors had a roll. Did I bring rolls to the land? Perhaps my Superhero name will be breadlegs. But I note this moment because I took all the pieces of my plate the steak (divine in every sense of the word) the potato mash, the sauce that was not thick like I have seen most of the time, but rather had an olive oil consistency yet still green and mossy (in a good way!), wonderful grilled onions and made a sandwch, a small one like a slider. And folks this is where the combination of all the ingredients together made the sum greater than the whole. I never really understood what that meant till now. To those who would call me a boar for making a sandwich out steak plate, I say that apparently an Earl first did it. So blame past royalty for my current crudness. I wanted to love the dessert more than I did. The chocolate cherry three branch was sweet and fun to enjoy. The actual cake was good but it had this jelly like substance at the top that felt weird to the plate. Like the consistency,was like a jelly. It killed it for me. But the non jelly parts were delicious and the branch was not touch the sap of the cherry blossom dessert. For a bit of grace to Aweer, one of my dining neighbors spilled their tequila based drink. They were apologetic. They explained that it just fell of their hand. Aweer came (not sure if I am spelling her name right) and she cleared their mess. She then assured them that "we are all humans" thus we are prone to mistakes by heavenly design. She forgot to bring me my drink in a prompt way. I reminded her to not worry "we are all humans" after all. She was an expert service. She deserves praise. Hope I delivered.

We randomly stopped by Churros Calientes on a Sunday night of a long weekend after dinner. We…read morehonestly hadn't heard much about this place and just happened to find it on our route home, but we're so glad we did because it was SO good. It's a really small spot with only a handful of tables and definitely has that cute mom and pop feel. Even though it was pretty late, the place was still vibing and it seemed like they had a good amount of regulars coming in. Everyone working there was also super super nice and welcoming. We got the Original Basket with a side of Nutella and loved it. The churros came out fresh and hot and the Nutella on the side was amazing. We're big chocolate people so obviously we loved that combo. We ate them so fast I didn't get a picture of them! We also heard their Italian coffees are really good and not overly sweet or milky, which sounds exactly like something we would like. If it wasn't so late we definitely would have ordered one, but it was a little too late for caffeine at that point. Overall such a good random find and we loved the whole vibe of this place. The churros were amazing, everyone was so nice and it just felt like a great little neighborhood spot. We'll definitely be back and next time we're trying the coffee too!
