A second diagnosis showed the compressor was fine but the relay was the problem. Spent $16 on the relay and the refrigerator is good as new. I rarely review on yelp but I MUST review this business. I would give them 10 stars but I am limited to 5. This is by far the BEST customer service I have ever received. This is a husband and wife team that work beautifully. At the end of October 2020 early November 2020 my Frigidaire double door fridge stopped cooling and my stuff started going bad, had water all over the place. I called JC Appliance on Hawthorne Blvd, Lawndale and Jesus came out. Used my own brow dryer because he found that the vent inside my fridge portion was frozen. He thawed it and told me that was it. Charged me $70 and left. Well, of course, the next day we were back at square one. I called, I texted, I even drove to his business and this joker was completely unresponsive. So I went to yelp to look for an appliance repair man. And found this GEM!! Texted Myrna and explained what was wrong. Sent her my address via text and next morning she was at my door as promised. It was a $200 fix!!! I was looking at replacing my fridge for new one worth over $1500. In the midst of a pandemic!! Jose and Myrna are honest, hardworking and they do not see you as a one-time sale but as a customer for life. While they were here I explained my oven was not heating properly. They replaced the thermometer for $200. Thus saving me over $1000 as I was looking into replacing that as well. At the end of April 2021 we had a power surge and due to Edison's negligence I lost my dryer and my oven again. You know who I called?! Myrna and Jose to the rescue!! They came out as promised. Tried repairing the dryer and it did not work. The system was fried beyond repair. So was my oven. They were honest and did not try to sell me into spending money unnecessarily. I appreciated that so much as I recently became unemployed and cannot afford to spend unnecessarily. I am so happy with their work that I have referred friends and familia. I texted her immediately when my mom's 1 year old washer and dryer stopped working. She was so honest that she encouraged me to call the manufacturer as it might be under warranty. We were ready to pay for the repairs because we thought it was too old. Sure enough. It was out of warranty by 2 months but due to the pandemic they agreed to repair them. This is a cool place to get used or refurbished applances. I went to this store many times looking for a fridge but the best ones were always sold by the time I got there. Eventually I got tired of looking and bought a fridge at Sears but this place has really good prices and some good quality items. Some fridges are better than others but If you check back on the daliy, you will definitely find the fridge of your dreams! There was some kinda leak in my freezer that caused some weird ice block build up. Called Gardena appliances and made an appointment to have them check it out. Myrna and Jose immediately knew what the problem was soon as they looked at it. They said this is a problem with most French door refrigerators. (They do about 6-7 of these kinds of repairs every week.) They gave me a quote and were done in less than an hour. Myrna was so cool - she even checked out my other refrigerator as well as my washer AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. My ice cream had gone really soft one day so I knew that my freezer was on the fritz. I called Myrna after looking at the amount of positive reviews and the close proximity to my address (North Torrance). She answered and gave me a thorough breakdown of what the issue could be and how thawed ice cream can be a bad tell tale sign. She mentioned she could be there the next day! She came on time with her husband Jose and they were able to diagnose the problem real quick....Now this is where they totally won me over!... She proceeded to advise me that LG would be able to send me a replacement compressor for FREE! She mentioned that she would just need to file a formal claim and mentioned that she could do that for me! When LG took longer to ship the part (due to Covid) she continued to stay in touch with me and kept following up with them. They only charged to replace the bad compressor. I purchased and pre owned refrigerator from this family owned business. I happen to drive by the store and stop in at first I was a little hesitant but the process was smooth and easy. The fridge was in great condition and at a very affordable price. They delivered that same day within a few hours it was set up and ready to go. A few weeks later the temp was acting up a bit. I called and they came to my house free of charge to check it and repair it. After that the fridge worked perfectly for almost 3 years. The other night I accidentally left the freezer door partially open and it messed up the fridge. I called and they came to my home free of charge since I'm a returning client to check the fridge. It turned out there was a part damaged. They changed the part, showed me the damaged part they replaced and left the fridge working again. Sept 25, 2017 To Ms Mryna R. Who left me a smart remark regarding my Yelp to your business. I stated the facts and the rude unprofessional behavior and lack there of service. I'm not one of the consumers who would not pay for a simple service call whether you could fix the machine or not. However, that was how I was treated. I've been in customer service for over 21 years and I think I'm sure I know how true customer service centric employees work. Myrna and her husband are just wonderful! Not only are they very professional but they are passionate about what they do and have a genuine love for helping people. I found them through a Yelp search. When I search for repairs I always look for local repairmen and Gardena is not too far from me. I called Myrna and she was a little tied up assisting other clients so she had to call me back. We actually communicated via text which was convenient for me. I let her know that my fridge wouldn't stay cold, told her the make and we arranged a time for her and her husband to come out. They came the very next day. As they were In route she gave me an estimate of what the cost would be. (Which I felt was fairly priced) They arrived and we immediately felt comfortable with them. Her husband went right to work and she explained what the issue was in full detail. (I enjoyed our conversation and her willingness to answer all of my questions). They had to run out to get a part but overall the work took about an hour to complete. After they were done, Myrna gave us tips on how to maintain a fridge. She also told us that she would check in on us periodically. She texted me the next day to see how things were going. I also reached out to her again for additional questions and she responded almost immediately. I can see the motherly instinct or compassion in her in just knowing that we are okay and maintaining proper health conditions for my young family and I truly appreciate that. Over a year ago, I called for a service repair on my Maytag washer. Myrna asked me questions and gave me a diagnosis over the phone which saved me a trip charge. I appreciated the honesty and kept their phone number for future use. I called a few weeks ago when my Whirlpool fridge was not working. Got a decent used HE top load washer and dryer from them about 1 month ago. Works well, and they told me the warnings of a top load HE washer, not stuffing to high etc.. How people usually break them. Stuff that would generally be in the owners manual that no one ever reads(except me) and stuff sales associates at retail outlets don't tell you either. My dryer was not drying the clothes. Called Myrna around 4pm and told her about the issue. She said she will stop by at 6pm ( I would've have her stop by earlier, but had to take my son to his karate and be back home around 6pm). Myrna text me asking me if I was home and told her I was. Myrna and her husband showed up about 10 mins later, showed them the dryer. Her husband pulled out the dryer and took the back apart and found out that it was the thermostat. While the dryer was out, he swept out the lint and replaced the new thermostat. Overall, it took him about 15 minutes. I'm very happy with overall service. She came over the same day, showed me what the problem was and unfortunately not fixable. I appreciate her honesty tremendously as she suggest getting a new machine then buying parts that will cost me a lot of money with minimal value. My fridge broke down after only 5 years. I live on the top floor of a three-story apartment and the thought of having too once again carry up a new fridge and carry the old one DOWN AGAIN was definitely weighing on my mind.
