Interesting phone call. A few small items unfortunately fell down dryer vent shoot and can be heard rattling around the motor. I called this place based on the high reviews to see if someone could come out and remove the pieces and confirm that the dryer motor is not damaged. Young woman stated "honestly it's probably not worth the service charge to come out and take the dryer apart just to remove some pieces so she regretful declined the service call." Thank you, so my dryer remains inoperable. This isn't an unheard of repair since there are several you tube videos about it, however, I preferred not to deal with the gas line and mechanics of taking the dryer apart myself. Yes, simple repair, but if I'm willing to pay the expense, what's the problem? Thanks again. 4/7/2015: this is in response to a email sent to me: the thing is when I had the problem, this place had no time to assist me so NOW don't worry about the professional person I found to do the job: I don't care if he's from this country; fell from the sky; or a dinosaur gave birth to him; that repair person was professional on the phone, came out and resolved my issue promptly. I texted Myrna one early morning about an issue I was having with the water/ice dispenser on my refrigerator. Within 15minutes she replied with an assessment about what could be wrong. She said she had seen this problem before and suggested I buy a replacement part. She was even willing to find the part for me online where I could buy it the cheapest. I informed her that I was fairly handy and I will get the part and replace it myself. A few days later she texted me to check how things were going and if I needed any further help. Myrna and Jose came over to check out my washing machine which was leaking. They looked under the machine and ran a full cycle, came to the conclusion it was a problem with the drain pipe based on the water source and water gurgling sounds during cycle. I will follow up with a plumber. They charged only $50 for the diagnostic visit which is a very fair price. Myrna was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. We bought a 20" used stove from Gardena Appliances. Jose and Myrna came to deliver the stove next day. When they found our gas outlet does not fit, they went to get a new gas pipe right away with no extra charge. We are really thankful for their professional attitude and pride on what they do. Why is it the appliances in ones house seem to want to work fine until the holidays? It's as if they dread having put in overtime so they go kersplat and stop working. That is what happened with the oven. Joyful, joyful we don't adore thee so we're not going to work...ha! What to do who to call? No not Ghostbusters (we don't have poltergeists that I'm aware of), but Gardena appliances. I scheduled the appointment for Saturday and told them the manufacturer of the stove that needed repair. When Gardena Appliances determined that the igniter that should have fit my GE stove did not fit, they drove immediately to get a local parts store to get one that would fit. When they found that the necessary part was out of stock at this location was out, they raced to Long Beach before the 12:00 P.M. closing time to get the right part. When it was installed, the oven lit right up. We were in business for Thanksgiving dinner. Besides being dependable and efficient, they are very friendly. read more

They were nothing but nice, and offered to deliver the fridge to my place (about 3 miles away) for free! The one star is for their poor customer service. They seem to have great knowledge about appliances, however, I rather spend my money at a place that is able to run a business with kindness and respect for customers. I used Gardena appliances a few years ago when my stove went out. The owners came out, gave me a quote and fixed it for a reasonable price. It was a pleasant and easy experience so when my refrigerator stopped cooling I thought I'd use their services again. I called around to several appliance places in the neighborhood and their $40 charge was around $20-$30 cheaper than the other places. Since I had a pleasant experience when they fixed our oven, it was an easy choice. To set up this appointment, we had gone back and forth via text and I had waited an extra day until she had an opening because I wanted to support this small business. Myrna and I agreed on a time via text. When she had not showed up 20 minutes later than the agreed upon time, I gave her a text just checking in to see what time she could come. Her ETA was a bit later than we had planned so I texted her back letting her know it was a bit too late for us and we had to go with another company. My simple text that read "No, that's okay. That's too late. We will have to go with someone else. Thank you" was met with a very rude and aggressive phone call from Myrna. If there was a call or text simply explaining why they were running late or an apology for being late, I would have been fine with that and called them for another service. However, Myrna's response was very inappropriate, aggressive, and very rude. I don't know about you, but as a customer, I do not want to be called and aggressively yelled at and questioned for going with another company. Even after I explained that I do not discredit their great work on the oven and that I simply just texted saying we'd have to go with someone else for the refrigerator repair, there was no apology or change in tone. If she had just called to explain or apologize that she was late I would have been fine with that and waited or used their services another time. Or even if she had not responded to my last text with an angry phone call, I wouldn't be writing this review. After this experience, I know that I will spend the extra $20 or so to go with a company that treats their customers with respect and kindness. During this pandemic I know everyone is struggling, however, I will take my money and go elsewhere. read more

My supposedly "New" fridge stopped working so I called a Sears repairman to come look at it. The Sears repairman attempted to sell me expensive service packages without having even looked at my fridge. A complete sham. While the Sears repairman was still at my home I quickly looked online in search of other alternative refrigerator repair services and found Gardena Appliances here on Yelp. Based on their good rating and recommendations, I called them and explained the situation. They came within 15min of my phone call, looked at my fridge and within minutes diagnosed the problem and gave me an honest estimate. In a short period of time my fridge was working properly again. 4 months later my fridge began having cooling problems again so I called Gardena Appliances to come look at my fridge again. I then learned that the current problem was something other than what was originally fixed beforehand. I couldn't believe that they did not want to charge me a dime for their time and service. I hope that my fridge will continue to work without any further issues but in the event that something does happen, I know exactly who I will call. I couldn't recommend Gardena Appliances enough. I RAAAAARELY go on Yelp to write reviews. I only write them if my experience was heavenly good or hellish bad. This one was good, real good. Tenants were complaining about period, weird, loud noises coming from a 9 y.o. Whirlpool refrigerator. Consulted Yelp and found Gardena Appliances. Reviews looked awesome, so I called to schedule a diagnostic. Myrna was very courteous, informative, and professional during our phone conversation. I was already getting a good feeling. She ended up a little late for our appointment, but notified me ahead of time, which is totally fine with me. She was very honest and no upsale at all. The refrigerator apparently is in Jekyll & Hyde-mode, as it performed perfectly fine during the diagnostic. She said to contact her next time it makes noises and she'll be out immediately. Jose & Myrna did not disappoint. They quickly diagnosed the problem, provided us with the cost of repair and informed us that they needed to get the part. A couple hours later, they contacted us indicating that they obtained the part and could make the repairs on the same day! I would give these people no stars. My dryer stoped producing heat. We made an appt with them and they were over an hour and 15 mins late. No phone calls or text from them. I had to text them to ask if they were coming. Upon arrival, I saw how dirty their shoes were and ask them to put on booties (I provided) since my appliances were on the second floor with carpet. Not even apologetic about being late, they refused to put the booties on and told us that they have 3 other customers waiting as if that's the customers fault and left. Not only did they show up extremely late with an atrocious attitude, the rude woman proceeded to tell me she can fall on her job wearing those booties and that she could sue us. Sounds like they've fallen before and sued their customers. The rude woman had the audacity to tell me that she is being accommodating, as if they are the only people who can fix a dryer. Unless you don't care about your carpet and your time isn't worth anything, this is the place for you. I would rather have a broken dryer than let these people come into my home! read more

Super nice folks, lots of fridges. They MOVE fridges quickly, so if you don't see what you want, try again in a couple of days. The first time I went there on a Saturday afternoon, almost all their fridges were already sold! I went again the next weekend, and they had a bunch more. No sales pressure at all. Nice clean store. They refurbish/repair fridges for sale right there & she said they get fridges 15 at a time. They also do repairs at your home too. Check out their YELP ratings, these are nice people you can trust. They came out to my house to diagnose & fix my old fridge, but said it would not be a good investment to fix it. No charge for the visit, and Marta explained what was wrong. Again, no sales pressure. Since they get new fridges in so often, I'm going to check back in with their store & see what I might want to buy. They have a wide selection of sizes & styles, from regular old freezer on top to those new fancy french door fridges with LED lighting. UPDATE May 2017: After 15 years of good use, my laundry washing machine broke. So I called Marta who was super-helpful, really more than helpful, but part to fix it is not available. I met Myrna the owner and asked about buying a used washer. Surprisingly she asked what was wrong with my machine. She then suggested that I could save money by fixing my existing machine. We had a major power surge in our neighborhood in North Redondo Beach on November 25, 2012. It took us a day to figure out we had more problems than just getting our power back on. So on that Monday, we started making calls to find an appliance person to come out and determine what was wrong with our washer and dryer. Myrna and Jose came out that day around 6 pm and spent time pulling apart the electronics for the washer/dryer and giving us their philosophy of business - do the cheapest stuff first, be honest, don't overcharge. Wow. They took the electronics to their shop and gave us the bad news the next day - it would cost too much to fix; they sent pictures to my phone as well as pictures of a used washer dryer they had for sale. Over the next few days we got in touch with our insurance company and it became clear that we should replace with a new washer and dryer, so I got back in contact with Myrna and told her we'd need back the parts as well as some sort of write up as to the problem and their estimate to fix it. They not only got that ready quickly, they didn't overcharge us for the house call and diagnosis. It was incredibly reasonable. Oh, and they gave us good advice on how to check and replace our thermostat which also had been fried in the surge - this, after we had the guy from Mike Diamond plumbing out who tried to OVERsell us a new thermostat to the tune of $672 (we bought a thermostat online from amazon for less than $32 and replaced it ourselves). I would say our chat with Myrna saved us about $640 right there. I would definitely work with them again if we have that need and I can confidently give them a great recommendation for honesty and knowledge and being just human, not overly "corporate". Our five year-old Whirlpool freezer stopped blowing cold air on a Friday afternoon. I called Gardena Appliances based on the stellar reviews and spoke with Myrna, who was every bit as friendly and courteous as people have stated. It was close to 6pm and she was on another job, but she graciously agreed to come to my place right afterwards to check on my freezer. Myrna and Jose showed up around 7pm and gave me a free estimate on my freezer, which needed a new valve connecting the freon to the motor. Myrna said she'd come back on Saturday after she tracked down the part. The next day, Myrna called and said she couldn't locate the part anywhere in the South Bay, so she drove all the way to her supplier in East LA to get it. She and Jose came over on Saturday afternoon and fixed my freezer within 30 mins. She gave me a great price for the work and was a real pleasure to deal with. So glad we called them! We have had to have our refrigerator fixed twice (different problems) and both times, Myrna and Jose came out right away and fixed the issues. The first time was actually in the evening and they stayed late until fixing the problem - even heading back to their shop and picking up the part needed and coming back within the hour to make sure we had a functioning fridge!
