Did a good job on the roof inspection. However, their minimum work quote was unreasonable and the inspector unresponsive. I was also overcharged for the inspection. Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of dealing with this company in the past. Do not assume this veteran-owned company demands their employees show any sign of respect. The lack of it runs up to the owner. I lost count of their code violations, which they flat-out refused to correct. It is no surprise that the BBB has revoked their accreditation and they have pending disciplinary actions at the state licensing board for code violations and hiring non-licensed employees. I highly suggest visiting the state licensing boards website to confirm that the license is currently inactive and not able to contract at this time before contacting them. read more

Garner Roofing did roof inspection and some minor roof repairs for my house. Not a very organized company, lady on the phone struggled to understand that I want to do roof inspection, but eventually I was able to reach someone else and finally schedule their visit. I have almost no complaints about quality of service so far (except that the promised repair photos never made it my inbox). The main reason for one star review is that the cost of repairs turned out to be inflated about 3x of the normal cost for such work. I never write reviews, but my experience with Garner has been so poor that I feel compelled to share my experiences. At first, I contacted Garner for a roof inspection. No real issues there as we got a detailed roof inspection within the time frame we requested. So far so good. The real issues came later, as I was attempting multiple times to get a hold of our inspector regarding some additional questions regarding the report and ideally get a proposal for some additional work to be done. Those outreach attempts went unresponsive. I then escalated to the managing director, who was quick to take my call and assure me all questions would be answered + a proposal would be delivered. All sounds good and previous issues would be put to rest. It's been six weeks, and I have never received any sort of proposal for further work. Instead, the sellers of my house who did contact Garner for cleaning debris from the gutters and valleys, also expressed multiple issues with working with them. Garner also wrongly sent me a change order form (which I never signed or requested) and is continuously chasing me for payment, despite that I personally never asked them for additional work. The sellers were adamant that they had paid. When I then called Garner to get an understanding of what happened, the individual whom I spoke with could not even confirm if the work had been done in the first place. So now we have a situation where it would appear Garner is attempting to double charge different parties for work that nobody can confirm if it has been completed or not. Needless to say, Garner has not only left a horrible taste in my mouth and the sellers of the house, but also both the listing and buyer side agents, who are quite prominent in Sacramento. They will be advising all of their clients proactively to steer clear of Garner for good reason. read more

This outfit is unprofessional at best. I called and made an appointment for a new roof estimate last week. The best they could do is make me wait an entire workweek until Friday between 4 and 5 P.M. This despite the fact I told Anna Wong that a large Oak tree had fallen on my roof and pierced the plywood. Friday between 4 and 5 P.M came and went. No call, no show, no nothing. I sent an e-mail to Garner Roofing and no call come Monday either. At 1:30 P.M Monday I called Garner Roofing. I suspect Anna Wong answered. I told Anna what HAD NOT occurred. Her reply to me was, "I sent an e-mail to him and I am awaiting a reply." I have no idea who "him" is and am done waiting for "him" to get back to Anna Wong so I can get an estimate on my roof. TIME is important to companies and people alike. I find it utterly astounding that this Company touts that they are composed of military veterans. ANY military veteran knows that communication is paramount. In fact military veterans are trained to show up for any non-military engagement 15 minutes earlier. Instead we have crickets and some woman who is too damn lazy to get of her butt and figure out why, "him" did not call or show up. Garner Roofing wasted a week of my time with their utter incompetence in the most basic of tasks. Why anybody would risk spending 30K plus knowing what I just described defeats me. Garner was originally contracted to "tune up" our tile roof. We were advised by them and one other roofer that our roof was in great shape. Then we were told why not put up solar for which we could write off the portion of the roof which would be covered by solar panels on our taxes to offset the solar cost. They put this savings at $11,463 which included both solar install and roof repairs. The total savings is stipulated in the contract. We only agreed to the solar due to the promised savings. There is no mention of "talk to your tax advisor" or similar language in the contract. After a substantial portion of the solar was installed, we were told we needed a new roof, that the solar would have to come down in order to install the new roof. How far we traveled from wanting to get our roof tuned up! We agreed to the new roof with serious reservations. In all we paid $57,243.53 but expected a return of $11,463 to offset the cost. Then we did our taxes and told by our tax advisor that we could take a deduction for the solar installation but not take a deduction for the portion of the roof covered by the solar panels as advised by Garner leaving us with $4,227 less than stipulated in the contract. We complained to Garner who told us our tax advisor was wrong & we should seek a different accountant. So we went to two different CPA's and were told the same thing. Both CPAs stated they would not sign onto our taxes if we attempted the deduction. We also asked for their CPA to contact our accountant. That never happened and were never provided with the name of a CPA who would allow the deduction. We were out $4,227. Garner would not make good, insisting we were wrong. We sued in small claims and awarded the full $4,227 on 6/22/2020, Garner did not show up for court later claiming they had not been served. They had been served by a professional process server and it was recorded by the court. They later said they wanted to appeal and had a hearing date set. No papers were filed for the appeal by Garner and again failed to appear on the date they asked for. Garner had the court set a third date to have the judgement set aside. Once again, they filed nothing and failed to appear. They filed a fourth date, this time filing the paperwork to have the judgement set aside. They did show for this date, the judge denied their appeal. Meanwhile, the State Contractor's board and their bond company were notified of all court proceedings. The bond company has thus far not paid telling us they have multiple claims against their bond and they are "investigating" all claims. Their bond is evidently insufficient to cover all of the claims against it. The State Contractor board gave them ninety days to satisfy the judgement. They did not do so despite written notifications to Garner that their license would be suspended. We looked on the State Contractor's board's website on 2/22/2021, the date when The State Contractor's Board said they would suspend their license and their site indicated the license was suspended per the screenshot. In a phone call with Garner on 2/22/2021, they told us the State's website was incorrect and they had an active license! They also offered a payment which was significantly less than what the court had already awarded, we declined. We also contacted the State Contractor's Board to verify the license was in fact suspended. We received confirmation that it is in fact suspended. UPDATE: Today, Monday 3/1/2021, finally received a check for the full amount owed. Why a business would allow their license to be suspended for a week is beyond me. If this was my business, I would have hand delivered the check before letting my license be suspended. read more

We had to find a roof repair company after the January storms, as several shingles at the crest of our roof blew off, exposing the plywood. Despite not being in the market for a new roof due to the financial burden, we called over ten companies, but they all insisted on selling us a new roof instead of repairing it. We then started meeting with different roofers who gave us conflicting information, and some even tried to upsell us on unnecessary projects like a new sidewalk and siding. Fortunately, we heard an ad for Garner Roofing on the 98 Rock radio station, which we decided to try since we've had success with their recommendations in the past. Jason from Garner arrived on time, was polite and informative, and quoted us a price for a repair, which impressed us since most other companies refused to do so. He also offered us the option of a new roof and solar without any pressure. We asked for a quote for a new roof, and Michael took over, who was also fantastic to work with. Michael didn't give us the cheapest quote, but he was honest about the problems that other roofers tried to hide. He also explained how a small solar system would essentially pay for itself in tax credits. We were so impressed that we signed with Garner at the estimate and made the deposit. They made us feel comfortable, unrushed, and in charge, creating a relationship with us. Garner Roofing will now be our go-to roofing company for all our needs. read more

Garner offered me a $25 gift card if I would leave a 5-star review--they can't pay me enough to lie about how poor their customer service is. Bottom line, if you want to hire a company that cares about its work and providing good customer service don't hire Garner. Garner had a completely different attitude between getting me to sign a contract (very helpful and pleasant) vs once the work began (disinterested at best). It's nearly impossible to contact them--it's a one-way street, Garner contacts you when they want something but it's nearly impossible for you to contact them. Their emails come from a "no reply" account; their phone calls and texts come from some other company and can't be returned, messages left at Garner's office aren't returned. Garner's bad customer service was highlighted when (1) they blew out the power in part of my house and didn't want to fix the problem that day (it was a Friday and the workers were ready for their weekend) and (2) Garner was demanding full payment before the work was complete and prior to the city approving the work. When Garner blew out the power, I asked the crew to contact the office to get someone to take care of the problem. The project supervisor doesn't speak English and while one worker told him I wanted them to call the office, the "translator" worker shook his head telling the supervisor "no." I called Garner's office and left a message, Garner didn't respond. I tried to email Garner, but they don't have a useable email address; same with Garner's text messages. Garner finally sent someone on Friday afternoon, so part of my house was without power for 3 days. Also, Garner demanded full payment before the work was complete. I kept telling Garner that the work isn't complete until the city ok's/signs its final inspection. Garner told me (more than once) that the city's permit to do the work meant the work was done complete and to code. A permit to do the work doesn't mean the work was done per the building code, the city's signed/approved final inspection report is needed. A good contractor should have zero hesitancy to have their work inspected; Garner's pushiness for payment without a final inspection is a major red flag. Garner also claimed the work was complete without the downspouts being installed. Garner sent a worker out to look at their work and he told me everything looked fine. I had to keep from laughing when I asked him "do you see any downspouts?" There were also other small problems with Garner's work. The workers broke some things in the front yard. I didn't really care that things were broken, it bothered me that the workers said nothing about it (I left the broken pieces where the workers saw them and moved them the next day). Garner also did a sloppy job cleaning up. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still finding nails in the yard and driveway. I'm giving Garner 1 star, but only because the city did approve its work and 0 stars isn't available. If you're looking for a company that's interested in it's customer service and takes pride in its work, avoid Garner. Hey Garner, since you offered me $25 to lie and give a 5-star review, maybe you should pay me $5 for an honest 1-star review. read more

Where to start this home upgrade was long over due and I was nervous of picking a place to do my roof, I called got a quote asked many questions that they answered happily, and assured me that all of my needs will be met and fulfilled first day on the job. Roofers were on time they cleaned up after their messes. Every day they were friendly to my dogs. Crew was very professional, and each day working with the crew was great and easy. We have a pesky leak in our roof. We had a local handyman come over to get to the bottom of it after having Garner Roofing fail to locate it despite charing us for a "service". We noticed a leak in our patio area below our roof, there was water getting past the rain gutter but we could not tell where the leak was coming from. We were concerned about damage to the house so we called in the roofing professionals at Garner. The owner or manager came out and walked on our roof. He couldn't locate a leak but suggested a roof service and if we still leaked that, we could address further repairs. Despite our roof being serviced less the season before, we had Garner proceed with their treatment. When the time came to do the treatment, they were in and out about 70 minutes from arrival to departure. We could barely notice that anything had been done. Shortly after, during the first rain, we noticed the leak was still dropping water onto the patio. We called Garner Roofing to have it looked at but they didn't have an open appointment. I called again but didn't tell them who I was and they did have an open appointment, when they found out it was to look at something that had previously been serviced by them under warranty, I was informed that I would need to schedule with a DIFFERENT department. I left a message for that department and didn't get a callback. I tried twice more to get them to look at it before calling in a local handyman. Come to find out there was simply an old nail going through the roof letting water pass through, It was right next to the area where Garner worked on my roof for well over $1000. A regular handyman with some attention to detail located a large rusty nail allowing water to pass through and cause damage to our house. If the leak was coming from elsewhere, I could understand somewhat being that the leak was outside their area of expertise. In the end, we find out that the leak was something that they should have easily found and that we specifically called them about yet couldn't get them to help with makes me feel like they are less than professional, not paying close attention to detail, and not willing to stand behind their work. I hate to write a post like this, but I wanted to let you know what happened to us. I wouldn't have called a handyman if they had come back and found the issue with our roof. read more

He was easy to talk to and reachable via text or calls during the entire process (and there were many, as I was traveling during most of the process) I will recommend Garner Roofing (aka Infinite Energy) but you have to be patient as I learned that they work with outside vendors and your project will most likely be pushed out and or rescheduled. Roof was installed. But many of the tiles eventually buckled by the recurring trips up there by the garner team to fix mistakes. The gutters have standing water. Which you can see their fix by cutting holes and letting the water run on the lower roof. Any damaged tiles that occurred they tried to hide by spray painting black. Multiple calls (I counted over 43 separate calls) and garner either doesn't answer or say "we got you, we won't leave you hanging, we'll take care of it" and never call back or schedule anything. This battle has been going on since May and it's almost Halloween. They do have a California state license board investigation in process. The CSLB did try to call them prior to the investigation but they never answered prompting the investigation. read more

We thought Ricardo and his team fixed our roof which happened on 7/10/2024. Then on the first heavey rain of 11/22/2024 we got leaks in both our guest room (celing and side walls) and family room (Adjacent with Guest room). My husband checked the 1st floor gutter which was overflowing and found the downspot was filled with lots of Moss and Dirt that previous team shoved through which blocked the water flow and was not cleaned properly (my Husband Cleaned it). Also the 2nd floor gutter was overflowing too so I called and also left a message for Jason and he came the following day and found and put a temporary patch so we would not run into any issue until the permenant fix. on 12/23/2024 Richie came in and replaced the temporary patch with the permenant solution. This company does a lot of advertising but probably aren't the best company to go with. They try to sell you additional services with your estimate. The estimate was several hundred dollars (about 1/3 more) than another company Yelp recommended. They do have faster response and service time though. Biggest upsale is trying to sell you unnecessary and expensive gutter cleaning -- easy BS call because not only can I do that, but the gutter hardly has anything in it from me looking because there are no trees on that side of the house! They also try to get you to join their club which is useless $ for my roof. Also after giving an estimate, they never followed up with any emails to move forward or pricing so I couldn't look into it anyways. You can dodge the initial fee if you say other companies giving free estimates which I have got without even asking for it to be free. read more

Fernando came by to inspect a possible leak and perform an inspection of my light concrete tile roof. My roof is 40 years old and had developed a small leak. Fernando located several cracked tiles that may have contributed to the leak. THEN he proceeded to remove and replace those tiles with spares that I had on hand. This was completely outside of his scope. It rained the following day, and it appears that Fernando has at least slowed the leak. Professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Loved working with Garner roofing! I was able to set up an appointment easily. Scott is super friendly and very, very helpful. My roof was over 25 years old and badly damaged from past storms. He recommended I contact my homeowners insurance to start a claim. I previously had two other quotes and neither contractor recommended this. I was able to get money from my insurance and put it toward the cost of a new roof. Within 2 weeks of Scott's initial visit, I have a new roof and new HVAC. Garner also contracts with Infinite Energy that did my HVAC. Dennis and his team were great from Infinite and was able to save me some money by not having to re-do duct work. Scott helped walk me through financing with Y-Grene also! Could not have gotten a new roof and new HVAC without it. Garner Roofing has always done a good job on my roof repairs until now. In August, I hired them to fix a roof leak and to add gutter guards. I signed a contract online and paid a down payment. After the job was done, the workers told me what I owed and without seeing a bill, I paid it. After numerous requests of wanting a bill, I finally received one and realized that they had never deducted my down payment. I asked them for the extra money back and after numerous phone calls and emails that went nowhere, my wife drove up to their office and they promised they would send out a refund check as soon as the owner signed it. Come to find out, the estimator underestimated the job and is no longer with the company, which could be the reason that we have not received our money back. In the meantime, being 83 years old and not able to go up on ladders and taking Garner Roofing's word for it that the gutters were installed correctly, when my sons looked at their work on the gutters, they were horrified by what they saw. The estimator told me that they were going to pull up the tile and install the gutters underneath. Instead, they did not pull up the tiles, they just shoved the gutters under the tile which created a lot of holes, open gaps and bending of the gutters. It was the worst, most sloppy job I have ever seen. It is now toward the end of November, and we still have not received our overpayment check, however, Garner Roofing did come out three times to try and fix the installation problems of the gutter guards, but they still look unprofessional. For a company that is supposed to be professional, they were not. They took advantage of me, being a senior, and I think they are not refunding my money because they underestimated the job, which is no fault of mine. I will never use Garner Roofing again. Unfortunately I had a mixed experience with this company. The final install team was incredibly efficient, professional and a delight to work with. Shout out to Austin B. who did a great job! However, all of the front office experiences I had left much to be desired. It took 2 1/2 weeks, and 2 unreturned voicemails, to finally speak to someone who is able to confirm that the company would accept my bid after the team came out to do an estimate. From there I was given a scheduled date for the install of my gutters, but on the day of the install the team arrived over an hour and a half after the estimated arrival time. When I called to confirm that they would indeed still be coming to my home to install the gutters, the man on the phones reported "I'm not sure, we may need to reschedule." He told me that the install manager would call me in the next hour or so to update me, but I never received a call. Meanwhile, my work day had started and I felt a bit stressed trying to coordinate with the front office while also prioritizing my work in the healthcare field. Especially considering I'd gotten up plenty early to receive the install team, and had coordinated patient appointments so it wouldn't conflict with their arrival window (including some grace time built in; I would not been upset if they had been a bit late). Ultimately, the install team did arrive and did a fantastic job. They kept my property neat and tidy, informed me of all the next steps, and made sure to touch base with me before leaving to ensure everything was up to par. I really appreciate their hard work! Hoping this feedback allows for improvements on the front end as I'm sure this is an incredible business with a lot of promising opportunity. read more

I reached out to Garner for a roof installation, initially impressed with their mail promotions. Michael conducted the inspection and did a great job. However, things began to go downhill once Austin got involved. He provided a quote that included a summer discount, 0% financing, and I also had a coupon for free gutters with the purchase of a new roof. He assured me that he could make it happen and I was super impressed with everything thus far. However, when it came time to sign the paperwork, Austin suddenly informed me that they could only install the back gutters, not the front, which was not what I was promised and honesty didn't make any sense. As I asked for clarification, Austin grew agitated, offering excuses and becoming defensive. Austin asked me what my other quotes were and when I told him Garner was the lowest bidder by a couple grand, he said: "Well go with the other guys if you think you can get a better deal." This response was unprofessional and inappropriate, especially given that he had started retracting what was promised, knowing he had the lowest bid. I called the manager to express my frustration/confusion, and she seemed just as confused as to why both gutters couldn't be installed as originally agreed. Austin later called to apologize, assuring me they would honor the original deal, even throwing in some downspouts to make up for it. We buried the hatchet and he came back to finalize the paperwork and do a credit check. However, the next day I received a text from him stating they could no longer accept my coupon for BOTH gutters now because I had the summer discount and 0% financing offer. This was once again frustrating. I hadn't asked for the 0% financing or the summer discount--both were automatically given to me when going over the quote. This was now the second time Austin had to backtrack on our agreements. I reached out to the manager again, and she reiterated that I couldn't get both gutters but asked how I felt for paying for just one. It felt like I was back to square one and negotiating to get both gutters that I was initially promised! I requested to speak with the owner, Rich, left two messages and never received a call back. I've been trying to get this roof installed by Garner for over a month, and they have twice taken back things we agreed on, I underwent a hard credit check, and now Austin and the owner have ghosted me and I still don't have a roof. They say they're veteran owned but I guess this is how they treat their fellow vets. I'm extremely disappointed. It's also worth noting that they offer a $25 Amazon gift card for 5-star reviews, which explains their high ratings despite the sub-par service. UPDATE: After receiving the owners response to this review, I called several times throughout the past 2 days and no one is picking up or returning my voicemail. I guess you don't take the reviews seriously. If they can't follow CA's basic laws or even pick up a phone, they don't deserve anyone's business. Check out their BBB profile stating they got their accreditation revoked and have a lawsuit. Our roof is absolutely beautiful!! I don't remember the names of everyone who worked on it, but they all did a fantastic job. The gentleman that came out to quote us was friendly, very knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. Before we made our decision, we had questions and our calls were always returned in a timely manner. We decided to go with Garner. They were not the cheapest, but I've learned over time that you get what you pay for. And, they are Veteran owned and we are a Veteran family. The workers and front office staff all worked together. Our project stayed on time. One of our gutters was broke during the process, but they replaced it and painted it. Oh yeah, they leave the job site spotless every day. They went around the house with a magnet every day to pickup nails and staples. We are very satisfied with Garner. Our roof is beautiful.
