Stopped by for a late lunch with my better half a couple of weeks ago. We sat indoors as it was a warm day, and were seated immediately. They brought us soft and tasty house bread, which we enjoyed with olive oil and vinegar while we perused the menu. We settled on sharing a large bowl of clam chowder, bruschetta pears, and baked brie. The chowder was creamy and filling, and I enjoyed it with immensely. My wife loved the bruschetta pears, and we both happily dug into the baked brie, which was served with a tangy blackberry chipotle sauce - delish! Service was friendly and efficient. Bathrooms were clean. Parking was easy. They also have a bar and large event space in the back. Total bill was a bit over $70 before tip. Happy to return. read more

Garré Cafe is the lunch spot you need when you're winetasting in the Livermore area! My boo had the Cobb Salad without chicken. Perfectly dressed, she was very happy. I had the Salmon Sandwich, and it was delicious. A nice flavorful piece of fish on ciabatta bread. I got it with a side of Caesar salad. There were a lot of options for sides, including your choice of regular or sweet potato french fries. Of course they have a good selection of their wines to choose from to accompany your meal. Note, the sparkling wine is slightly sweet. Many like their sparkling that way. It tasted good but we like ours are a little more dry. The 2017 Cabernet Franc was kind of average. Decent flavors but not much complexity. Lots of seating indoors and out. We were fortunate to be there on a July day that wasn't too hot, so it was great to sit outside. One thing I appreciate about Garre Café is that not all wineries have an on-site restaurant. The food is decent and convenient if you're already there for wine tasting. The outdoor patio is the star. It's always pretty, peaceful, and a great place to sit back and enjoy the Livermore wine country views. Good for large groups, private events, wedding, families, girls gathering, day date. Haven't visited at night so can't speak it it's a good date night spot. I came here with a large group, and we were seated in the back room. The table was set nicely with a tablecloth and water cups, which was a good touch. We were given a limited menu instead of the regular one, maybe because we were a large party, but it was disappointing since some people couldn't order their usual favorites. I ordered the grilled cheese with pesto and fries, but unfortunately, my order was forgotten. Everyone else at the table already had their food, so I was the last one served, and my friends waited until my plate came out. When it finally did, the sandwich wasn't fully grilled, and the cheese wasn't even melted. The pesto was tasty, though, and the fries were fine. It came with a side of marinara sauce but it was ice cold. I ended up taking the sandwich to-go and tossed it in the air fryer and it grilled nicely. One positive was that they allowed separate checks for our group of 15, which made things easier. However, we had also given instructions in advance that the guest of honor should not be given a check and that their meal should go on our tab. Unfortunately, the server handed them a check anyway, which was disappointing since that detail was an important part of our reservation request. We kicked things off with calamari and meatballs--both hit the table hot and flavorful (definitely recommend starting with those). But the star of the night? The short ribs. Tender, fall-apart delicious with this sweet-and-spicy glaze that had me practically licking the plate. And then came the 2018 Merlot... wow. Hands down the BEST Merlot I've ever had. Smooth, bold, and honestly worth the trip alone. It is a vineyard afterall. Cozy vibes, great service, and food + wine, and ambiance that makes you want to come back again and again. It was our first visit to Garre in a number of years, and they have built a large event facility in which the restaurant is now located. It is a nice atmosphere, more upscale than the original winery restaurant. Their primary focus now is likely large special events. Service was friendly and attentive and the wine by the glass was fine. We enjoyed the panko breaded calamari and green bean appetizer, but the seafood pasta lacked any hint of seasoning and the penne pasta was very overcooked. At least the dish did include a good amount of seafood. We think Garre would be better for a casual pizza and wine outdoor lunch than expecting a quality upscale dinner experience. Their outdoor seating area would be nice for lunch when weather permits. read more

I visited Garré Tasting room on a busy Saturday. The group I was with had outside seating and our server was friendly and accommodating. I love their sparkling and my server told me of their NV Rosé Sparkling that was just as good as the regular sparkling. Their October Tasting Menu consisted of five wines, that included one white and the remaining reds. * 2023 Chardonnay was crisp, and flavorful *2017 Primitivo had a fruity aroma, tannic aftertaste, and tartness *2017 Syrah was smooth and no tannic aftertaste *2018 Touriga was spicy All the wines were enjoyable and I'm not a much of red wine drinker but their reds were balanced and clean, in my opinion. Attended an 18th bday Cotillion at Garre Event Center, Winery n Cafe last month. The food n wine at the event was pretty darn good considering the amount of guests they were feeding which led us to think that the restaurant must be just as good so here we are in May the following month to try it. Yes I would concur the food is pretty good, and if you get the right server you're in perfect hands. The fried olives as an appetizer yummy. Their bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar delicious. Garre Salad was large so we shared it. We ordered the seafood pasta which the sauce was a little too thin for me as I'm use to it being thicker so my bread can sweep up some of the sauce. It was fine. Dessert was bread pudding. It was good but could've been warm. Overall was a great experience. Wine I must say was really great and price was so good we ordered a bottle instead of a glass. We're going back to wine taste, have lunch and maybe even try their Bocce Ball if they still have it. read more

Went to have lunch today at their cafe. Really nice place for lunch. Plenty of inside and outside seating. Also, looks like this place stays pretty busy. Good variety of lunch selections. All of the food looked good from what I saw. I started with a small Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad. Nice size salad and tasted good with the Honey Balsamic Dressing versus the Raspberry Champagne Vinaigrette dressing. The other salad that we ordered was a small Beet Salad. Again very tasty and nice serving size. Our waiter brought some delicious fresh baked bread. Our main courses we had their Margarita Pizza (nice size - well made - great tasting crust), Chicken Alfredo (I didn't try it but it looked good and again nice serving size). I had their Blackened Salmon Sandwich that was served on Gilled Chibatta (well made sandwich) served with Fries. The only reason I gave this 4 Stars is the waiter we had could have been better. I used to be a server years ago. Wasn't on his A Game. Forgot things (I know it happens but admit to it don't try and play it off) and pay attention to your tables especially when it isn't slammed. Food service very rushed. So rushed everything we ordered could not be enjoyed. Apps should be first, then after at least 10 minutes the entrees. Ours were served simultaneously. Fried olives were not very good. Arancini was probably the best dish we had. Eggplant parm was not edible. Raw inside, burnt oily outside on top of a cold bed of pasta. The diner who ordered it took one bite and returned it. (And didn't order anything else). Beef short ribs were also disappointing. Overcooked, in some weird sauce. Neither diner eat much of it. Seafood pasta was ok. It was a Saturday evening, not too crowded. I have been many times for lunch (years ago) and enjoyed it. read more

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our date. The location in a winery and on a hill drew us there after wine tasting. We ate inside and enjoyed the decor and friendly service. We wanted to try something different so my husband suggested this restaurant. We had reservations for 7pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night, so we were concerned. The menu had a good selection of starters and entrees. We ordered cocktails, a martini and old fashion. My husband ordered the Maytag salad and Nonna's pasta with meatballs and I ordered the wild salmon. Our waiter brought focaccia bread and there was olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles on the table. It took quite a while to get our cocktails. My husband had his salad and he enjoyed it. We finally got our cocktails right before our dinner was served. My salmon was cooked perfectly. It was on top of a crispy potato cake and served with fresh green beans and some onion strings on top. It was delicious. My husband's pasta came without the meatballs. Sadly they were out of meatballs and the server was unaware at the time of our ordering. All in all, a good meal. My husband had a glass of red wine and it was comped since there were no meatballs. Our service was good and our drinks were excellent. Nice ambiance and even a nice outdoor dining area. I'm not sure why more people weren't there. Our only recommendation would be to bring our cocktails out first. read more

Mediocre food but great outside lunch spot! Came here during lunchtime on a weekday and got seated immediately after making same day reservation. They have various salads, burgers and your typical American food. I decided to go with a seafood pasta and thought it was ok. The pasta red sauce was on the watery side and wouldn't stick to the pasta. So when I tried to eat the pasta it tasted bland with no tomato sauce. The place was pretty packed when we went on a weekday. There was a good flow of people coming in and out around 12:30. One plus was that the outside seating was nice and comfy and had the perfect amount of shade for the tables! read more

We came for dinner on a Saturday with a party of 4. The wait staff was ambivalent at best, closer to surly. My dish of lobster and shrimp ravioli was abjectly mediocre. There was no flavor of lobster, a single rubbery shrimp in the center of the plate, and a side of plain white toast. When I finally managed to get the attention of the waiter (who never came by to ask how we were doing, or whether we were enjoying the meal) and asked whether I could get some of the focaccia from the menu, I was informed that "we're out." Since this was supposed to be part of my dish, it would have been nice to be told in advance. I ate a single ravioli. No acknowledgment of was ever made of my obvious disappointment. Enjoyed a weekend afternoon lunch and drinks with some friends at this quaint cafe at top the Garré winery. Place is smallish and gets busy so recommend making a reservation. Our party had some dietary restrictions and they were able to accommodate. We enjoyed the beet salad and salmon. We also had the charcuterie board, but admittedly it was a bit "weak" on the quality of the items for the price. Tried some bubbly as well, which was delicious. I do give them kiddos as they heard we were celebrating a bday and provide a tasty dessert gratis. Staff were friendly and attentive. We love this beautiful winery and it's the only one that has a restaurant . The Italian food is so good and the wine too. We have been to many events hosted here and they never disappoint ! We had lunch today and all three dishes were OUTSTANDING!! I had the chicken Marsala which was so good but make sure you have bread to soak up the amazing sauce. We also had the carbonara and the salmon. We paired it with the rose which was very refreshing. The food came out hot and the Service was also outstanding. I highly recommend for lunch or dinner. We live nearby and had passed by the sign frequently so decided to stop by and try out the cafe. We arrived around 3:45 PM and stood there while wait staff passed around us as if we were invisible. It felt very rude and unwelcoming. It's not like they didn't see us, they literally walked around us, never making eye contact or saying anything. Finally someone walked up and asked if we were looking for a table, said they closed at 4 PM so the last seating was at 3:30. I understand that we arrived too late for service but it was the whole awkward and uninviting feeling. We will DEFINITELY not be going back. read more

It was a beautiful Monday morning and my friend and I decided to stop in at Garre for a quick lunch. We sat outside the patio area which was lovely. The servers were attentive and friendly. The food was great can't complain we had the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup which was perfect cheesy sandwich and yummy tasty soup. 5/5 The ravioli was great with artichoke. 5/5 The sauce was perfectly tangy and slightly sweet and it was just a perfect meal. Last week, I had the displeasure of visiting this establishment with my mother and grandmother. I am severely allergic to gluten and dairy, which I informed the waitress. They have many gluten-free options, one of which is the gnocchi, labelled gluten-free for all to see. When the food came out, my gnocchi had little pieces of what I assumed was gnocchi that had fallen off. I had not had gnocchi before. When my mother saw me eat it, she told me it was spaghetti pieces, which would be crazy, right? There is no way that there were tiny pieces of gluten-filled spaghetti in GLUTEN FREE gnocchi, right? Haha, that would be crazy. I am still sick to this day, just felt well enough today to write a Yelp review, so no other gluten-sensitive people are deceived as I was. I am pretty sure the way the spaghetti got into the gnocchi is because they reused the pasta water; you could kill someone with that, you know? Like actually. Why would I drive to Napa or Sonoma to go to a winery when there are so many others so much closer in the Valley? Because it really isn't that much further, and considering the great quality vino and beautiful grounds, this is among one of the best wineries tucked away in Livermore! Had a business lunch here last month and we started in the restaurant by sampling a delicious summer menu that included a variety of salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and desserts. We decided to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the beautiful day and vineyard grounds. There's plenty of parking outside their venue. There is a tasting rooms with secondary parking as well if you are not eating in the restaurant. There's plenty of outdoor seating on their grounds for breath taking photos. My co-worker had the jambalaya and thought it lacked flavor & was too watery. The bread they serve is yummy. Waiter never brought my water but he was nice. I discovered a gem right in the middle of the Livermore wine country. I was looking for lunch options after wine tasting and didn't really want to go to the downtown. Found this cafe and made a lunch reservation. I did try for a wine tasting reservation too but they were totally booked out- on a Friday. So, keep that in mind. The view is beautiful while sitting outdoors. The indoors looked pretty inviting too, but it was such a gorgeous afternoon that we decided to sit outside. There is plexi glass partitioning, so it does protect you from the wind and the view of the green rolling hills (especially at this time of the year) was just another bonus. Now about the food, we were running short on time and already had been to a wine tasting so decided to skip the drinks and went straight to the lunch menu. Their dessert menu looked very tempting, especially as the table across from us got a beautiful creme brûlée. Will try it on our next visit. 1. Florentine Ravioli (vegetarian) 4/5- the ravioli looked very fresh and the vodka sauce had the perfect balance of taste. I especially loved the fried artichokes that topped off the pasta. 2. Very interesting and pleasant experience. Enjoyed hospitality and some of their full-body wines served. Tasting room does not serve food, although you can bring it from the café. Would highly recommend spending some peaceful time outside watching the hummingbirds with your favorite glass of breathing wine. We've been loyal customers of this vineyard restaurant for the past 5-6 years, always looking forward to a great wine experience, but this visit was very disappointing, ruined our celebration!! Our group of eight ordered 4 bottles of wine and had only been there for an hour when the manager abruptly handed us the check without checking if we were ready. He claimed another party had reserved the table, despite plenty of tables available, and he made no effort to offer alternatives or politely inform us beforehand. His attitude was very dismissive, and his apology lacked any sincerity. While our waitress was very courteous, the manager's poor hospitality left worst impression of the cafe and the staff there. We only had drinks and apps but the food coming out looked good ..the pizza in particular which is made in their pizza oven ...the property is very nice ...surrounded by open land and vines ...unfortunately we didn't get a chance to have wine..went on a whim kinda early ...had the charcuterie...basically your average board with cheese,nuts,etc. Our server did disappear for at least 15 minutes ...think he took a break from what we overheard ...nevertheless we will swing by there next time we are tasting out that way read more

I came here recently for a work lunch. Sitting on the patio was delightful, but I thought the food was pretty mediocre. First of all, the patio is the highlight! It's spacious and there are plenty of umbrellas if you want to stay in the shade on a hot Livermore day. It was a great setting for a mid-day break. I wasn't super impressed with the food. I ordered the salmon sandwich. The piece of salmon was pretty small, but otherwise the sandwich was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the aioli and arugula. The side Caesar salad was slimy - it seemed like it had been made ahead of time and wasn't super fresh. Oh well - that's what I get for not ordering fries! The sandwich wasn't huge, but still cost $17. :/ Finally, the service wasn't great. Although our waitress was super friendly, our table's meals didn't come out at the same time. Half our group waited an extra 10 minutes for their food. It also took a while to receive our bill. Heads up, they don't do separate checks! Overall, a nice patio in Livermore. The server was really bad (Laryssa)so we called to see if we could have a table at 3:30 we arrived 10 minutes later, and we sat outside of the restaurant of course, she needed to take the orders, and she was in a hurry (never asked for dessert or other glass of wine or dessert ) soon the food arrived the bees started to bother us and we ask to the server if we can move inside of the restaurant she says yes but she never helps us to move our staff WTF, my question is "why you take walk-ins at 3:30 if you close at 4 this is STUPID, about the food I ordered seafood pasta, and I believe that Pasta Pomodoro makes better pasta than you, about ambiance the restaurant was almost empty...definitely we don't come back read more

I'm surprised at the high reviews. First visit with my girlfriends and it was an eipc fail in my book. Such a nice drive to this restaurant - driving through the winery side of the city away from the hustle and bustle. As soon as I saw the outside, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful exterior, anticipating it would an unforgettable experience. The menu had a decent selection of appetizers, salads, and main dishes. I ordered the TRI TIPS sandwich. The sandwich was bland; no taste and the steak itself was hard/chewy. What made this worse was the mold on the bread. I pointed it out to our server and she immediately took the plate away and asked if I wanted something else. This was a work lunch and because their service was slow, having to wait for another dish was not an option for me. She said that the chef would come to "resolve" my order. We waited.....and waited.....the chef finally came after we paid the bill. He said the bread was from Costco and that they would follow up with them. No apology. Their overall service needs a lot of work. The food is subpar- so disappointing. Don't waste your money or time. read more
