We kicked things off with calamari and meatballs--both hit the table hot and flavorful (definitely recommend starting with those). But the star of the night? The short ribs. Tender, fall-apart delicious with this sweet-and-spicy glaze that had me practically licking the plate. And then came the 2018 Merlot... wow. Hands down the BEST Merlot I've ever had. Smooth, bold, and honestly worth the trip alone. It is a vineyard afterall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy vibes, great service, and food + wine, and ambiance that makes you want to come back again and again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in Livermore, don't miss it!

I visited Garré Tasting room on a busy Saturday. The group I was with had outside seating and our server was friendly and accommodating. I love their sparkling and my server told me of their NV Rosé Sparkling that was just as good as the regular sparkling. Their October Tasting Menu consisted of five wines, that included one white and the remaining reds. * 2023 Chardonnay was crisp, and flavorful *2017 Primitivo had a fruity aroma, tannic aftertaste, and tartness *2017 Syrah was smooth and no tannic aftertaste *2018 Touriga was spicy All the wines were enjoyable and I'm not a much of red wine drinker but their reds were balanced and clean, in my opinion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor setting was accommodating to our large group, with shade and nice decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Attended an 18th bday Cotillion at Garre Event Center, Winery n Cafe last month. The food n wine at the event was pretty darn good considering the amount of guests they were feeding which led us to think that the restaurant must be just as good so here we are in May the following month to try it. Yes I would concur the food is pretty good, and if you get the right server you're in perfect hands. The fried olives as an appetizer yummy. Their bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar delicious. Garre Salad was large so we shared it. We ordered the seafood pasta which the sauce was a little too thin for me as I'm use to it being thicker so my bread can sweep up some of the sauce. It was fine. Dessert was bread pudding. It was good but could've been warm. Overall was a great experience. Wine I must say was really great and price was so good we ordered a bottle instead of a glass. We're going back to wine taste, have lunch and maybe even try their Bocce Ball if they still have it.

Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad

Went to have lunch today at their cafe. Really nice place for lunch. Plenty of inside and outside seating. Also, looks like this place stays pretty busy. Good variety of lunch selections. All of the food looked good from what I saw. I started with a small Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad. Nice size salad and tasted good with the Honey Balsamic Dressing versus the Raspberry Champagne Vinaigrette dressing. The other salad that we ordered was a small Beet Salad. Again very tasty and nice serving size. Our waiter brought some delicious fresh baked bread. Our main courses we had their Margarita Pizza (nice size - well made - great tasting crust), Chicken Alfredo (I didn't try it but it looked good and again nice serving size). I had their Blackened Salmon Sandwich that was served on Gilled Chibatta (well made sandwich) served with Fries. The only reason I gave this 4 Stars is the waiter we had could have been better. I used to be a server years ago. Wasn't on his A Game. Forgot things (I know it happens but admit to it don't try and play it off) and pay attention to your tables especially when it isn't slammed. Again nice place - I will go back again.

We wanted to try something different so my husband suggested this restaurant. We had reservations for 7pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night, so we were concerned. The menu had a good selection of starters and entrees. We ordered cocktails, a martini and old fashion. My husband ordered the Maytag salad and Nonna's pasta with meatballs and I ordered the wild salmon. Our waiter brought focaccia bread and there was olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles on the table. It took quite a while to get our cocktails. My husband had his salad and he enjoyed it. We finally got our cocktails right before our dinner was served. My salmon was cooked perfectly. It was on top of a crispy potato cake and served with fresh green beans and some onion strings on top. It was delicious. My husband's pasta came without the meatballs. Sadly they were out of meatballs and the server was unaware at the time of our ordering. All in all, a good meal. My husband had a glass of red wine and it was comped since there were no meatballs. Our service was good and our drinks were excellent. Nice ambiance and even a nice outdoor dining area. I'm not sure why more people weren't there. Our only recommendation would be to bring our cocktails out first.

Mediocre food but great outside lunch spot! Came here during lunchtime on a weekday and got seated immediately after making same day reservation. They have various salads, burgers and your typical American food. I decided to go with a seafood pasta and thought it was ok. The pasta red sauce was on the watery side and wouldn't stick to the pasta. So when I tried to eat the pasta it tasted bland with no tomato sauce. The place was pretty packed when we went on a weekday. There was a good flow of people coming in and out around 12:30. One plus was that the outside seating was nice and comfy and had the perfect amount of shade for the tables!

Not only did she make some excellent recommendations (which were all smashing hits!) my wife and I both agreed that both her energy and personality were so refreshing and frankly becoming more the exception than the norm in the service industry. We had excellent interactions with her throughout the night and she really helped make our date night experience there a pleasant and memorable one. We sat outdoors on a beautiful day--the atmosphere was lovely with great vibes, and we even caught some World Cup soccer on the large TV while we dined. It felt casual yet upscale, perfect for unwinding. We started with glasses of wine--my wife loved her Aperol Spritz, and I enjoyed a crisp Pinot Grigio. For our appetizer, we ordered the zucchini florets (fiori di zucca) stuffed with ricotta cheese and served in a marinara sauce. They were delicious and a fantastic way to begin the meal. For our mains, we both went with salads: the Salmon salad for me and the Caesar salad for her. Both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we wanted--light but satisfying. We enjoyed every bite of everything we ordered. The service was excellent and attentive, which really elevated the experience. Big thanks to the team for making us feel welcome and taking such good care of us.We'll definitely be back to Locanda Wine Bar. Highly recommend for a nice date lunch, happy hour, or casual dinner with good wine and Italian-inspired plates in a charming downtown Livermore setting.

As our organizer mentioned, they were fully booked that night so do reserve early. Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. Parking is ample, with a short walk, in this Nob Hill Foods shopping center.

Parking in the area is not bad; you'll have a small walk since this is in the downtown area, but there was a parking lot across the street. The bread was really good with the olive oil and vinegar, and turned out to be the best part of the meal. We were tempted to get a refill, but the menu said that they charged for bread refills so we declined. Nevertheless, they still refilled our bread and didn't charge us for it (maybe they forgot?). I tried their risotto con pollo and short rib papardelle. The risotto was alright, not the best I've had and portions were small. The short rib papardelle was way too salty. Also, it felt really sketchy when they handed us the bill with the total amount and tip already hand written in on the customer receipt by the waiter. Besides this, I would say skip their mediocre and pricey food.

The vodka sauce was the only thing that was worth getting again. They brought out complementary focaccia which was fresh but had no salt what so ever. The ambiance was alright.

Once inside, it feels less like a restaurant and more like you have been invited over to a friend's dining room. It is warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. The service hits that perfect balance. It is friendly, attentive, and never overbearing. You feel taken care of without it being a production. The food really delivers. The special, chicken thighs stuffed with smoked ham, was standout and memorable. The margarita pizza is exactly what you want it to be. It is simple, well executed, and perfect for sharing. Do not let the "small" size fool you. It is easily enough for two, maybe even three if you are catching up over drinks. Portions across the board are generous. The fish entrees are especially impressive. The salmon alone felt like it had to be close to half a pound. All of this comes at prices that feel more than fair for the quality and quantity you are getting. This is definitely a spot worth returning to. We arrived around 7:45 PM, with closing at 8:30 PM. The server outside did not seem happy to see us, and once inside there was no greeting or anyone to seat us. I had to go back and ask for a table. Throughout the evening, the owner or hostess also made us feel like our late arrival was an inconvenience. The one bright spot was our server. He was welcoming, never rushed us, and even surprised our daughter with a complimentary birthday dessert after learning we were celebrating. That thoughtful gesture was the highlight of the evening. The food was just average. The capellini was especially disappointing, as it was bland and lacked flavor. Overall, nothing we ordered really stood out. Between the average food and the unwelcoming atmosphere, this is not a place we would return to, despite the excellent service from our server

We started with the oysters and the Korean melon and cucumber salad. The oyster was light and fresh, and I've never had it paired with a salsa like that before. It didn't really feel like a cohesive bite with the oyster. The melon and cucumber salad had a nice sesame dressing that balanced out the sweet and crunchy bites. I'd skip both of these next time. For our mains we split the radiatori pasta and the steak. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce tasted more like butternut squash instead of sweet corn and tomatoes. It was still good but not quite what we were expecting. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and the mashed potatoes and herb butter were the ideal pairings. For our sweet treat, we split the milk and honey, which was a vanilla ice cream topped with honeycomb. This was SOOO good and maybe the best part of dinner. Overall, service was attentive and friendly, the outdoor patio was really nice in the cool summer breeze, and food was pretty good.
