We had a good takeout dinner from Garson. We ordered a few items: -Chicken berg: The chicken was good, and we paid the upgrade fee to get cranberry and almond rice added, which was a great move--I loved the rice. -Lamb kebob: The lamb was perhaps a little tougher than I would have liked, but it tasted good. We had white rice and dill rice with this entree (no upcharge), and I liked both. -Extra bread: I paid for two orders of extra bread ($2 each) because I feel like you always need more bread for hummus, and they sent a giant paper bag of bread--we couldn't finish it, but it tasted good. read more

I've been here lots of times over the last 2 decades and not sure why I've never written a review. I'd say this is the top Persian restaurant in the city, or at least one of them. Their meats are always cooked so well, rice is cooked to perfection, and bread is piping hot. The servers are so gracious and kind. Huge space with plenty of parking. We need more hole in the spot that replaces like this, it's in a very unconspicuous part of the street, very upscale feel as soon as you enter the place luxury furniture everywhere, it's very classy, very intimate, you can easily do 5 stars because of the quality of the food, the environment. The three stars are for the very outstanding service , atmosphere and the Yadi's Favorite which was one of there very tasty chicken dishes. And I'm so glad my cousin let me taste it because the dish that I ordered , the combination shrimp and ribeye with dill rice was extremely bland and underwhelming. I treated a friend, who had never been there, to Garson. He was blown away by the Lamb Shish Kabob as I was with the Fish Kabob. Neither one of us could finish the plates and were happy to take some home. Of course, the service and atmosphere were of the Garson tradition. 4 minutes ago New Its mother's day,I have a reservation at 6pm, the restaurant is surprisingly not crowded despite the event. The manager (we didnt know it was him at the time) told us to go sit wherever, didnt walk us to a table or anything. We wait 20 minutes for them to bring our drinks, they said they would be back with the menu. We wait 5 min and still did not get the menu, a party of five enter and immediately get their drinks and menu. This upsets me because we were waiting for so long and didnt get attention,so we go to find the manager who is playing cards in the other room. I try to explain whats going on and he just starts walking away like he doesnt care, saying he will take care of it but like he didnt even know what was going on because he didnt wait to let me finish, so we left and went to Caspian. Every time we come to Garson we enjoy our time. We love Persian food, and their Fecenjan is to die for! What is not to love about a delicious pieces of chicken dipped in a luscious and rich amazing pomegranate sauce?! We are obsessed with it, we have also tried their other dishes and it was all very good. We love the bread and a bonus point...it's made in house! We came for dinner on a Friday evening. There was plenty of parking in their lot. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant and dining area itself were very clean. I thought the menus were nicely designed as well. All of the servers were very attentive and came by frequently to refill water. There was lots of complimentary bread as well. The bread itself wasn't the best, but I appreciated that they kept bringing more. I ordered the boneless chicken and beef koubideh with doogh. Prices and portion sizes were very reasonable. However I thought the tomatoes on the side tasted a bit too sour. The beef was cooked well, but I thought it tasted a little too salty. The chicken needed more seasoning. Overall, this is an okay place if you want affordable Persian food. But there are probably better spots to try in the area. read more

I came today to Garson and I have to say this is one the best Persian food I've ever had. I'm going start mentioning the HUMMUS you have no idea how good this tastes!! I got it with beef ribeye kabob on top and I can't explain the taste of the meat. So delicious and soft. I had the Garson special, it comes with beef and chicken . Again the meat it's so soft I don't think I had any meat like this before I'll give it 100000/10. My friend got the chicken laforet, flavor was 10/10!! If you're into seafood and meat this is a must try! Even when it comes with jalapeño sauce it's not crazy spicy or anything . So flavory . we ended up having their tea and I'm glad we did it because we were so full that this really helped us to feel better after . You're paying for quality food and good portions. The vibe in the restaurant with the nice music ( nothing loud) in the background made us feel so comfortable. If the capital of Nevada was Garson City, I'd never go to Nevada. That's how much I like this restaurant. One of my worst experiences in Houston. We showed up to have some delicious Persian kebabs (never been before), and I was wearing my usual muscle shirt and Barbie her usual sexy outfit, and we were told to leave or to sit in the spare room (empty, cold, by the door) separate from the dining room (nice, warm, lots of people), because my muscle shirt "isn't proper attire". Meanwhile there was people smoking in the doorway, a old smelly guy with his old man bare feet up on a chair drinking tea and reading, and 2 people vaping as well. This isn't a fine dining place, it's just a little locally owned place with decent prices which shouldn't be so judgy and prehistoric - I hate to see what would happen if they put this place in Montrose or Midtown. Those kinds of double standards are disgusting but when you consider it's a $10 Kabob place and not fancy restaurant, and that we've even in a lot of fancy restaurants (and lots of Persian places, cheap and expensive) around the country, and that I'm Persian (lol), and literally never been told to leave or change outfits even once, anywhere, you can see why it would rub me the wrong way. Besides, I didn't have any other shirts with me that day, we'd come from the gym and I only had a dirty similar shirt or the clean one I was wearing. I wanted to try all the Persian places, but I'm skipping this one and telling all my friends to do the same after the nastiness and prejudice and hypocrisy. Nearby Darband is probably the best Persian in the country anyway, so we generally tend to stick with that or the equally excellent Bijan just down the road. read more

Wow, this place is amazing. They serve fresh pita with some herbs and cheese. That is really good. I recommend getting the hummus. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I went to Garson after some time with visiting family who were craving Persian food. After being warmly greeted and welcomed we were seated. Feta cheese, fresh fragrant herbs (especially delicious basil!) and freshly made bread with sesame seeds were soon brought to the table. For appetizers we ordered crispy rice 'tahdig' asking that they split it half and half with a combo of gheymeh and ghormeh sabzi stews. I was extremely delighted to taste saffron in the gheymeh stew that was generously served over the tahdig. Saffron is never detectable in dishes in restaurants!!! It's always homemade versions of Iranian dishes where cooks will be this generous with the worlds most expensive spice! I was also surprised to see meat on the tahdig which other Persian restaurants have always omitted from this appetizer order. We also ordered humus, salad shirazi and kashk e bademjan (eggplant appetizer) all which were delicious. For the main course we ordered kebab kubideh with dill rice and jujeh kebab with the bone and a side salad. The kebab was extremely juicy and reminded more of the tenderness/flavor of kebab I recall eating in Iran but for whatever reason I haven't encountered (until now) in Persian restaurants in the states. The jujeh dish also had two additional pieces of chicken breast which I also haven't noticed other Persian restaurants include for this specific order. In short, food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was perfect for a Saturday evening with family. Garson is spacious so even when tables fill, it's still easy to hear the people at your table, lol which hasn't always been the case at other restaurants. Lastly, the decor is also something worth mentioning. Lovely Persian art as you enter and a traditional Persian mural on one of the back walls. The recent change in ownership has shown to be meticulous in perfecting the dining experience and has taken persian cuisine to another level. Highly recommend this lovely Persian restaurant with friendly & attentive staff, cozy atmosphere and exquisite food! There was a party of over 40 people going on. Noise level was too high. I had heard good things about Garson for years but never had the chance to try them, so this was my first try. Straight to the point: The food was good, but the business practices were quite upsetting. We were fasting the last day of Ramadan so as I sat down, I asked for a glass of water since I would need it to break my fast in a few minutes. The lady came back with Ozarka water bottles for all of us. I thought wow that's very nice of them. Then she brought out some dates for us to break our fast. I thought man these are some really nice people. Then the check came. They charged us for the water bottles and dates, none of which we asked for! When we asked her why she did that, she said that because of COVID-19 they don't serve tap water. I have been eating at restaurants as soon as they've been opened during the pandemic, and I've never heard of this. But, for the sake of argument, let's say that's a legitimate reason. You should have told me! When I asked for water I expected a normal glass of water like every single restaurant in Houston serves. So for 2 Sultani's and 1 mixed Koobideh, we paid nearly $80 after tax and tip. And, yes, in spite of this terrible service, I tipped them fairly. But, all in all, it was simply highway robbery. I won't be going back and I'll be giving my negative review to the people who recommended this place and pretty much anyone else. read more

This is a regular establishment in our favorites rotation. Everything we've tried has been absolutely delicious. The bread is perfectly tender and crispy. We ALWAYS order chicken laforet. It will not disappoint. It's one of those dishes that you can't stop eating even when you're full. We also had the 'favorite chicken dish' which was also great. The service is also very attentive except after you pay the check. We were still conversing but our waters were no longer refilled. The desserts were okay. Had a terrible experience never going back. I usually go without any issue in my normal clothes, but that one day I went wearing my work clothes on, and the manager was absolutely horrible! She added a fee for the cheese, another fee for the parsley and beets and another alcohol fee, and gratuity fee that they never ever added before. I spoke to the manager and asked about these ridiculous fees and she was so rude and talking back , I felt so disrespected. If she had a problem with my work clothes she should of at least speak nicely about it, it would of been way better than the way she approached it. read more

Poor service and dry food. We came here on Sunday evening, the place was empty so we got seated right away. Our server came very quickly and was pretty nice at the beginning - so we got a couple of drinks, salmon kabob and chicken kabob. That was the last time we saw our server because he got distracted by a different table who happened to be 2 girls. Our food was brought to us by a different waitress, and chicken kabob was missing a side which was supposed to be tabouli. Apparently our distracted waiter forgot to tell us that they run out of tabouli earlier that day. Anyhow, salmon kabob was good but the chicken was very dry, as if it was left on the grill for way too long. After about 30 min of trying to get attention of our waiter he finally got us our check. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, there are many Arabic restaurants in that same area with better service and food. read more

I have been going to garson for the past 16 years and NOTHING comes close. It is hands down the best Persian restaurant in the country and we've tried a lot of Persian restaurants around the country. The staff and servers always make it feel like your right and home and they know what you want and usually get. I highly recommend the beef Kobiedeh as well as Yadis favorite. The decor and feel of the restaurant is very inviting and cultural and gives you a little taste of home. A lot of the staff speak the language.
