You can tell he genuinely cares--not just about your teeth, but about your overall comfort and experience. What really stood out to me is that he doesn't push unnecessary treatments. He focuses on what's truly best for you, not what's most expensive or easiest to do. I had been to multiple dentists before, and they all told me I needed to remove my tooth. He took the time to assess everything properly and actually saved it. He didn't just fix my tooth--he healed it. I was kindly greeted by the front desk staff who questioned me about my concerns and reasons for my visits. I communicated that I was there for a second opinion on a black stain in front of one of my tooth. Shortly thereafter, this same front desk staff insisted I needed a "FULL-SET of TEETH X-Ray" in order for the dentist to fully assess the issues I was coming in for... again (black stain on front of one of my tooth) After persistent pressure from this same front desk staff. I eventually retrieved and was able to provided them a set of full teeth x-rays from MyChart. I informed her I just got them done from another dentist less than a month ago and am not comfortable getting another set of x-rays as my insurance might not cover another one so soon. Despite all this , this same front desk staff insisted that she will give me a "Complimentary FULL-TEETH X-Rays and that she will not charge me for them. So I agreed, with the terms of what we discussed. However, after the dentist looked at my teeth / full set of x-rays his front staff pressured me to get. The Dentist found (other issues that needed to be fixed) which is fine , the dentist is entitled to his opinion about what he believes he needs to work on etc.. The dentist seemed really kind and caring from my short interaction with him. And seemed to have a genuine interest in helping.. So on my way out, I was directed to speak with their office manager to discuss my treatment plans , insurance and cost etc. after getting all the information I let the staff know I'll figure out my work schedule and payment for the treatment the dentist recommended and will call them when I have some time off and schedule my appt. After doing the math and figuring out that my insurance won't be able to cover all the treatments the dentist recommended.. I had kindly reached out and texted Bedford Dental if they can send me copies of these "complimentary" teeth x-rays so I can figure out which tooth specially is most important for me that I want the dentist to work on. And they immediately replied with "Hi April, we're happy to provide you with copies of your x-rays and photos. Since we had waived the fee for them, there's a small $75 fee to release the images for personal use or transfer. Once payment is received, we'll email them right over to you." -(October 15, 2025 10:58am) Ofcourse, I didn't pay them anything as the front desk staff insisted they were "complimentary". Then I get another message from them on 10/27/25 "Hello April, this is Bedford Dental Group. You have a balance of $131.00 due. Your insurance has paid this claim and this is your portion.Please use this secure link to pay" (Mind you I haven't gotten any actual work done on any of the tooth the dentist recommended he needed to work on since they refused to provide me copies of the x-rays so I can actually review and decide which tooth I want done first) To make long story short.. I called to get clarity on what exactly I was being charged for. And a woman name Erin answered and claimed it was for the "FULL-SET of TEETH x-rays and the dentist examining and my front tooth" Erin claimed they had tried and billed my insurance for the FULL-SET of X-Rays but my insurance refused to pay the full amount and now they want me to pay the difference. I asked is this for the same "complimentary x-rays your staff pressured me to get so the dentist can look at one of my front tooth with a black stain"? then after "remembering" the promises they told me of not being charged. This woman claimed she would "waive the fees" and send me a email copy for the fees waiver. Today is now 10/29/25 and still no confirmation email from them nor was I provided with a copy of the complimentary teeth X-RAYs (the same X-Rays they billed my insurance for) they refused to provide me with copies but had no issues billing my insurance and now tried to have me pay the bill me when their request wasn't paid. Maybe if this place has staff that embody the caring and genuine service I experienced when interacting with the dentist .. I might consider coming back to bring my business. But after all this , it's a hard pass for me. This is not the type of experience I want to have going to any dental office. Please learn to treat others like how you would want others to treat you, love ones and your family! With respect, honesty, courtesy and professionalism.

I woke up with swollen lips and 2 cuts on my lips. This review is my experience, what I believe to be true as well as my opinion. I can't in good conscience not share this, because I don't want anyone else to go through this. Not only Juan carelessly cut my lips in 2 spots with a dental tool, but he was extremely shady and negligent about it as he did everything he could to HIDE the fact that he cut my lips and even completely GASLIT me about it as if nothing had happened! This is why I'm writing this review as he puts patients' safety at risk by not disinfecting the wounds that he negligently has caused. Juan pretended as if nothing happened which means he did NOT disinfect the open wounds at all and let me walk out of the office NOT knowing I had open wounds on my lips. He put my health and well being at risk - in addition to causing scars. This is what happened. Juan asked me if he could proceed with doing something that I obviously wanted the dentist to do. I politely declined and made clear I wanted the doctor to do it. He then asked me a second time insisting he could do it. This showed he does not care about a patient's comfort level. Patients shouldn't have to repeat what their comfort level is. While he was working in my mouth, I felt a really hard pinch on my lips with the tool that had a top that looks like the top of the scissors. I said ouch as it hurt and made it clear that my lips hurt. Juan's response was: "What happened?" Then WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING he took some gauze and put it on my lips and immediately inside my mouth - making it seem as if it was for the dental work he was doing - although that's not where the dental work was. For a second I thought it was for my lips and that it was bleeding, but because he didn't say anything - I thought he couldn't possibly not tell me if my lip was bleeding. His manipulative gesture of putting the gauze inside my mouth immediately after putting on my lip worked, because I thought it's related to the dental work although the dental work was on the top area. I realized I had scars on my lips about 2 hours later after I left their office in the same exact spot that Juan pinched my lip with a tool. By that time not only I had open wounds with dried blood on them, I was concerned how it was exposed to bacteria. Perhaps if Juan had not been so incredibly negligent and shady to try his best to cover up the fact that he cut my lip in 2 spots, and that my lip was bleeding and he had actually cared to be honest about his mistake and disinfected the open wounds and put some antibacterial ointment on it - I wouldn't be left with a swollen lip and 2 scars including one scar with raw skin and part of my lip skin taken out. While he was working inside my mouth he asked: "Am I torturing you?" I said no. I even told him he was gentle. Then he said: "Then I'm doing something wrong." Even though we joked about other things, this one while he is inside my mouth with tools was questionable. Then shortly after he cut my lips and intentionally covered it up. Also, during the work I felt something sharp on the side of my gum. This was the second time this happened. I even moved a bit, because it was uncomfortable. You would think he would stop and make sure you're ok. He did not. In fact he proceeded to pressing the item even harder into my gum to finish his work. It's one thing for Juan to cut a patient's lips carelessly. It's another thing to do his best to cover it up and not bother to tell the patient, hide it by putting some gauze on it - while making it seem as if it was for inside your mouth and somehow related to the work even though he was not even working in that area at all, and then negligently NOT disinfect it and let the patient walk away with open wounds without bothering to tell them so they can at least walk out of the office knowing they have open wounds on their lips. Although Dr. Ben was professional and apologized, there is a reason that Juan thinks he can do all this at this office and get away with it. Again, Dr. Ben and Mehrnaz are amazing. But the fact is I walked out with open wounds and scars on my lips not knowing what had happened due to Juan gaslighting me and doing his best to cover up his negligence - only to find out 2 hours later what had happened and now waking up to swollen lips and scars. I felt comfortable with Dr. Ben. I believe he is honest, caring and professional. I also believe he knows his craft and he is a safe and trustworthy dentist. However, I would not trust Juan or his work one bit.

I'm glad I found them, moving to LA meant finding new doctors all over again... that process is just too much work. But once you're lucky enough to get settled in with a good office, you're golden! (I still can't find a good Primary Doctor, and had a nightmare experience with UCLA Health, that's a different story!) Dr. Vafa is extremely warm and caring. I once asked for Botox for TMJ. I told him I have someone who injects to help relax the muscle to help with clenching and my bite shifting to one side, but my injector wasn't available. This was when I first met Dr Vafa. Dr Vafa educated me on the dangers of getting too much Botox in the jaw as the first line of defense (bandaid) for a much larger issue. He said he'd do it, only one time, but that he won't do it again. I already knew that I needed to address the bigger issue (and we are doing that now, I delayed it for 10+ years). Dr. Vafa also shared best practices for me to do at home to help my muscle tension... and he asked me to commit to it, in order to help. This shows me he cares and doesn't care about taking my money, he'd rather educate me so I make the right decisions for my body, treat the real root problem, and not ruin my muscles just to "put a bandaid" on symptoms. The person who cleans my teeth, forgot her name, she's actually super gentle, I make sure I tell her. I asked her to not use the machine to clean, it was painful and my mouth is sensitive, and she respected my fear of pain and manually cleaned to accommodate. I really appreciated that. The only downside I have is that I need to pay for parking. I hate paying for parking... they share a free (or cheap) parking lot option with me but... I really don't want to walk. I tried to park in the street once, I got a ticket once for misreading the signs. I guess $12 parking is better than a ticket. This is LA. And yes!! I obviously like these guys enough to pay for parking, and drive to Beverly Hills... I truly believe that paying for parking two or three times a year for cleaning and treatment is worth it, since they do a great job. Again, it's hard to find a good dental office and dentist. The doctor has good bedside manners. I usually have a thousand questions, he educates me, answers my questions, he never makes me feel rushed.
