They have state-of-the-art equipment, kind and welcoming staff, and just a good all around feeling. Everyone from the assistants to the schedulers are top notch. I always have a great experience here and feel treated as if I was family. They are very good about overall cleanliness; the assistant Gabriel was diligent about disinfecting between patients which is very much appreciated. Dr. Lim was very kind and took the time to answer any questions that I had and was very thorough in going over the retinal scan. TL;DR - 100% am going back, and I've already recommended this place to friends and family I had gone to a couple other optometrists before, but I felt like my eyes were strained wearing the prescription I was last given. Maybe my eyes were getting worse, but I wasn't sure. I decided to try out Silicon Valley Eyecare, since it was a lot closer. The difference was mind blowing! Front Desk was super nice. I wanted to make an appointment before the year was over in December, and they understood and tried their best to fit me in. Gabriel was an easy going tech. I had blinked a couple of times during the initial tests and calibration, and he was very nice about it. The tests seem much more thorough, there were more tests than at other places, and Gabriel was focused on getting an accurate reading. Afterwards, I was passed to Dr. Azinda Morrow, who was so nice and thoughtful. She was curious about the last two prescriptions I was given, and decided to run a few more blind tests (no pun intended) and asked how often I wore glasses, when I would usually wear them, etc. She arrived at the conclusion that the "straining prescription" was closer to what the machine results were, but that my eyes did not like it at all. She instead saw that my eyes enjoyed the much older prescriptions, and recommended I go with them, especially since I don't wear glasses all the time. If you didn't catch that, she was specifically prodding for my habits and lifestyle, resulting in such a personalized diagnosis. I naturally had a ton of questions, and she was patient to answer all of them. And by patient, I don't mean in a "forced smile but hey I got another appointment to get to" way, but in a "ask all the dumb eye care questions you might have, and I'll try my best to answer it, and confirm that you understand it" way. After I was confident I really understood my eye health and prescription, I was passed to Izzy, who was my associate in charge of selling the frames and lens. I figured I needed to do the sales dance and resist any upselling, but she was not pushy in the slightest. She explained my insurance benefits both at the store and outside the store, and let me browse the frames at my own leisure with no upsell pressure at all. When I didn't find a frame to my liking, she understood and was happy to let me go. I ended up finding a frame from a boutique brand I liked, and they asked me for my pupillary distance measurement and said to go to my optometrist for it. I called in expecting I needed to make an appointment and pay some dumb fee for this. I was, yet again, proven wrong - front desk just said to stop in anytime. I stopped by, a tech quickly got my measurement, and I was out in 5 minutes. read more

Silicon Valley Eyecare has been my primary optometry office since 2021 when I contracted a painful eye ulcer due to mishandled contacts (my fault). I desperately found this office due to my previous optometry office being closed on Saturdays. I haven't left since. I had two doctors that handled my case and each were extremely personable, knowledgeable, and checked in with me every week until my precarious ulcer was healing and out of the red zone. The front office is efficient and friendly. It shows the front office workers, assistants, and doctors have a great relationship and effective system figured out. This is also where I complete my annual eye exams. In 2024, I had 2 glasses made (one progressive clear lens glasses. One progressive lens sunglasses). The optician that helped me was awesome. Jordan Sanchez was amazingly attentive to make sure my glasses fit just right, and he was so generous to give me extra wipes and a hard case when he saw my current hard case was struggling and bent up. Jordan also fixed another pair of sunglasses, which a screw was lost. He essentially manufactured a completely new replacement screw, and my glasses were put back together. Great craftsmanship and customer service. Parking can be tricky when going at a busy hour as the parking lot is shared by multiple businesses. All in all, this office has been very good to me, and it'll be my primary optometry office for a long time. read more

First off, they didn't tell me there's a $55 cancellation fee for appointments until it was too late. Jorge went above and beyond to procure the frames, promising to follow up with the company and to give me updates on the status, even after his day off. I had a great experience doing my Annual Eye Exam with Silicon Valley Eyecare. I set my new patient appointment through phone very easily and was able to secure an appointment for the next day itself. They have all the latest machinery and clearly explain you through the process. The main point to note is they are following rigorous cleaning protocols which was very good to see. They disinfect the machines after every single person. This made me feel comfortable to be at silicon valley Eyecare even amidst the rising Covid cases again. The doctor I saw was really great! Her name is Deborah McBride. She spent quite a good amount of time going over all the results with me, addressed any concerns I had patiently. I would definitely recommend her! PS: My rating doesn't consider their eyewear selection or prices since I didn't have time to look around after my appointment. read more

I had been coming here for the past 25 years and have had excellent care by my earlier doctors, Dr. Zimmerman and Dr. Calmere. However, I've been disappointed with my latest care with Dr. Alexander as she doesn't seem to possess the level of patience and professionalism I had come to expect from optometrists I've seen here. I felt like she did not listen to what I felt worked better for my eyes while doing the contact lens fitting, and we never found the right contacts for me... but rather finalized with a prescription she thought would work best. I was most disappointed during my latest appointment when she just suddenly lost her temper when I told her that a pair of earlier contacts we tried worked much better, but I could not find the exact prescription and she could not match the contacts to the past prescriptions we tried. This would not normally be a problem with most optometrists as we could simply back tract. I'm at a lose as to why she just blew up. After that incident I thought it best to find a new optometrist. I certainly miss the old SVEC I knew. read more

My doctor is excellent beyond measure, however, the front office staff needs to be trained on customer service. They often confirm the appointment six to eight weeks out from assigned date/time, which is absurd because a lot can happen until then. They're also unbothered to contact the optometrist when a medication needs to be urgently refilled. If you have the fortitude & patience, then the office is great. read more

After a decade of excellent care, things have become scary and tragic. My December appointment was cancelled without my being notified, so I wasted a 20 mile trip for nothing and rescheduled for February 1st. Last week, I got a rude phone message stating they no longer accepted my insurance and told me I, "should use another insurance plan" which I don't know a single person with multiple health insurance plans. It gets worse. I called them yesterday to cancel the appointment because I cannot afford to pay out of pocket. Even though I cancelled my Feb 1 appointment and today is the 29th, they sent me a text message just now which reads, "Darren, you are overdue for your eye health/vision exam. Please call/text for an appointment. Silicon Valley Eyecare." It's clear this office no longer cares about their patients, has no control over their scheduling and cannot use their computers. It never used to be this way. The doctors were never greedy and given I have good insurance which has paid their bills without question for a decade, it's clear they have become greedy, unreasonable and unprofessional. It's unfortunate they have skilled doctors and excellent new equipment, but have lost all ethics and professionalism. This office only wants to serve patients who're wealthy. Their glasses service had aways been overpriced but they had great service and were excellent at finding frames which actually fit my head so I'd always pay extra. Now the entire office is overpriced and out of the reach of most insured patients. I am basing my feedback on the following parameters: i) Pricing, ii) Professionalism, and iii) Competence. Had visited this place a few days back for an eye check-up and this place, i can say, a good example of the decline in ethics and values in corporate America today. The process of eye check up has been made unnecessarily long and complex - just to fleece money from people. For the eye exam, i was charged (i was informed upfront, so i have to credit them for it) $250. This same exam, one is able to get at 1/3rd the price in the Bay Area. My Doctor was Dr. Mcbride. Further, one is put in a pressure scenario - in the middle of the eye exam - where the patient is made to visit the optician and the optician, like a car salesman, shows you the expensive options for glasses. The glasses you do not need but they WANT to sell. If it were to them, they could keep adding some crazy feature and sell you a pair of glasses for $10,000. I was told the mandatory lenses i need are around some $400 plus. *Mandatory lenses* - i was told. Now the basic lenses elsewhere, i have been able to find at $30. Yes, $30. So, that's roughly 13 times what these people charged. Finally, the icing on the cake. The above points were only making me indignant, with this coming point, i am just furious. When my glasses were finally ready, the measurement on the lenses is not correct. When i tried the glasses, my vision was not clear. So after paying an arm and a leg (and sitting through an overstretched testing) if you still end up with a wrong pair of lenses, how enraged would you feel? I really am so upset with these white collared people fleecing gullible patients that i feel we unnecessarily hold bank robbers in contempt. I am not going here for a refund even, this is how disappointed i feel about going here. P.S.: If you do not trust what i am writing, do visit the Yelp reviews that are in the not recommended section at the bottom. It is in light color at the bottom, click on it and see. I'm still waiting for my glasses 26 days after my appointment. I was told they would be done in around 2 weeks. I went in to pick them up and they weren't ready. I was assured they would be in the next week. Nope. Not ready and apparently the lab made a mistake and had to redo them. I was not called or informed of the delay. I came in yesterday and was assured they would have them by today. I called today and no dice. I'm extremely upset and most likely won't go here again with my family. My parents also go there and I will be letting them know of my poor service. I liked the place better when it was a tanning salon. Update: They called me to tell me their lab screwed up again. Dreading that me not being able to read small print meant I was getting "older" and was in need of granny glasses lol I was able to get an appointment the same week. The staff was very friendly and professional. All covid protocol procedures were followed. Dr. J McBride was extremely nice and answered all my questions and concerns. I needed reading glasses. I came looking for a pair of nonprescription sunglasses to use up my eye insurance allowance and found SVE through the VSP website. They were super helpful the moment I walked in. I explained what I was looking for an they had me browse while they entered my information into the system. I found a pair I wanted, and Raquel help me price it out and determine my co-pay all quickly and easily. She even help me look at how the glasses look too. We were appalled at the service we received today from this place. We have been going here for approximately 20 years and have been buying 6 pairs of glasses annually for most of that period. We LOVE our longtime doctor here and have no plans of changing her. However, I think the owners of this place should look at the people they hire and at the service they provide. If they don't, it costs them money directly from their pockets. We had called 2 weeks ahead and thought we made an appointment to look at frames for 10am today in anticipation of our upcoming doctor appointments. Showed up today a few minutes early and found out that they don't "keep" optician appointments. We were told that the "finicky" optician was refusing (yes, REFUSING) to let us in unless we were committing to buy glasses/frames today. This was a requirement that was repeated at least a handful times this morning. Turns out that the finicky optician was plain out rude. After 1+ hour of wait past our "appointment" time, I could hear her repeatedly ask the 2 other opticians and the receptionist whether they got a commitment from me about buying on the spot (it shouldn't matter, but for context, my insurance kicks in again January 1 after we bought our 6 pairs of glasses from them last January). As I was waiting my 1+ hour, she was trying to rush in a newly-arrived customer that was either her friend or she was impressed because he arrived in a Tesla Y and opened its wing doors. Remember, no appointments, right? When he heard my complaint about her trying to get him to jump in ahead, he quickly retreated to his car. If the optician's requirement of buying no-matter-what is a new store policy, it should be stated and open for all to see. Knowing the doctor, I really doubt that it is actually true in which case they should train, reprimand, suspend or fire an employee with this attitude and such low caliber. I got all the names involved but I am choosing not to use them here -- with the attitude that I witnessed from this employee, there should not be a need for names. It should be that apparent!!! I will use the offender's name when speaking to the doctor soon. By the way, the 2 other opticians as well as the receptionist there today were perfectly fine, they just seemed intimidated by their team lead. By my rough simple estimate of 1 customer only, this employee (assuming that she behaves like this with only us -- which is impossible for me to believe) is directly costing this business, at least, $5,000 EACH YEAR in revenue by us buying the glasses elsewhere. That is a pretty expensive employee to keep around, only counting 1 customer! read more

In the past couple of years I've gotten a call prior to every appointment telling me I have to reschedule for one reason or another. This time around, I got a call telling me I had to reschedule. I called two days prior to my appointment, and received a confirmation email from them the day before that my appointment was set. I show up to my appointment and they tell me I'm not scheduled for an appointment. How do I not have an appointment when I called and confirmed with a live person AND received an email the day before telling me I was confirmed? I tried to give them several chances, but I'm done with this place!! P.S. - Their service WAS great in the past and that's why I would drive my family 25 minutes to come here. NO MORE!!! read more

I called them to make an appointment, their front desk was extremely impatient and hung up my call in a minute, I didn't even finish my words. She has been keeping asking her questions. My first impression one year ago was skeptical. However, second time around, I felt much more accommodated, even given COVID. Booked myself and my husband back-to-back appointments and they were friendly in allowing our 3-year-old to join as we were obliged to--they even gave him some toys to keep him occupied. Quick, clean service. Social distance was kept when possible. (I assume everything was wiped down before usage). They gave us a good a deal on contact lens and they were not pushy. We were also lucky to have the Retinal Screening promo--which was free for this spring. Overall good experience and I'm glad I came back. read more

I first came to this office in the early 2k. It was fine except for charging an additional 40-60 for optimap out of pocket. Years later, I have been passed on from doctor to doctor without prior notice, nor explanation. I currently have worked with 3. There's a reason why I'm not a kaiser patient; I don't want to be passed on from doc to doc. I had an appt last week and waited at least 30 min to be seen. The doc and I could not agree on a prescription that would work for me. He couldn't comprehend that my current prescription was no longer assisting my vision and told me that my view was of course subjective and his is objective. Okay let's talk while I'm driving day or night and can't read signs... Lastly, I called the day after to cancel an order and I still haven't been reimbursed so I called today and they said my account was on hold... I don't know what's going on over there--too many patients and too many employees without exact knowledge of who does what. read more

I see Dr. Alexander. She is very thorough, explaining everything and asking if I have any questions. While she doesn't waste time, she will take time to talk if that's what you'd like. I have to agree to an extent on the office staff. They seem to be automatons just going through the motions and trying to get you out the door. That said, for the most part they are not rude. In fact, I've had glasses repaired a couple times, replaced another time, and they've not given me any flack. Definitely recommended. read more
