The Jalapeño Popper Burger was very delicious, it was not what I expected! The jalapeños are actually shredded and mixed in with the melted gooey cheese.It has a mild zip to it and the fresh made buns were nice and soft. I would definitely recommend this burger! read more

What a lucky find!!! Cute interior with plenty of tables well spaced but, the food....so good! My husband had the black and blue burger, amazing! I had Sara's Burger topped with a fried green tomato and delicious applewood bacon, really, where do you find a burger like that??? It was fantastic, all set on a homemade bun. Delicious food and cute 50's diner themed restaurant. My husband and I had a burger and sandwich for lunch, respectively, and both were delicious. My burger had a fried green tomato, bacon and cheese and was served on a tasty homemade bun. Jeff had a pulled pork special. We also got fantastic Thai chili sauce on the side to eat with our fries and it was so tasty! We would love to come back for dessert - they have a peanut butter bomb and a sea salt caramel brownie, both of which sound amazing! Update: We went back later that day to get a peanut butter bomb and it was so delicious. Peanut butter pie filling inside a graham cracker crust with caramel drizzle and whipped cream. Found this place on Yelp and I was excited to try their jalapeño popper burger. I ordered it and it was sooo good. The rest of the table ordered the fried green tomatoes, Reuben rolls, side salad, and onion straws. Everything we had all tasted great. They also had a good craft draft beer selection. Probably ten different beers that I've never heard of so I did try one and it was good. My only problem was that my burger was too big to eat in one sitting. The service was good and the server was very attentive. It wasn't too busy though the parking lot seemed full when we left after dinner. Staff was incredibly nice. Food was tasty. We had the grilled cheese with tomato basil soup and blackened flounder sandwich- both were great as were the homemade waffle potato chips and sweet potato fries. Definitely worth trying out. As they say, don't pass GAS. read more

So glad I gave GAS another chance. I had heard such great things about it so many times and to not have given it a fair shot the first time, I had to go back and try again. With only a dozen four top tables inside, GAS can get busy pretty quickly. But the staff is so laid back and keeps the people flowing that even when there is a small wait, it's not really that bad. I was lucky to be have Lindy (the owner) as my server this visit; she makes everyone feel special and definitely adds to the ambience. This time I passed on the deviled eggs, which she was happy to hear as she was running low. I decided on the Kickin' Crunch burger special with fries. The burger was cooked just the way I wanted it and it was so filling. I easily could have eaten that with no fries and been just fine for the rest of the day. With layers of jalapenos, potato chips and stuffed with cheese, I was surprised I ate every bite. From what I was able to glean, this is a regular appearance on their specials board and I would highly recommend it if you like to kick it up a notch. We don't make it down to St. Aug very often these days, but my husband can't wait for the day I want to go back. He's been day-dreaming about this place for a while. read more

Since I'm a food brat, I insisted we take a detour to St Augustine and get real food, not highway junk. This place caught my eye and totally delivered. We ordered the Black & blue burger, the hot rod chicken sandwich & my daughter had a grilled cheese. My sandwich was insanely huge and sooooo gooood. They use all homemade fresh buns and gave me a side of blue cheese béchamel sauce. Whaaat. The beer selection is huge and I was amazed at their knowledge of each craft brew and excitement to tell me about them. I tried 2 local craft beers and loved them. Lastly the wait staff was so nice it was uncanny. My only complaint was the sweet potato fries are sprinkled with sugar, not salt. But that's a personal preference thing. read more

Great place! It's a very small hole-in-the-wall type place. You'd miss it if you didn't know it was there. There isn't much parking at this place, but we got lucky with there being one spot left on the side. It was hopping on a Saturday afternoon, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. The service was great and very attentive. I had the jalapeno popper burger, which are two patties stuffed with cheese and jalepno and panko breaded and then deep fried. It was delicious and HUGE! I don't have the highest tolerance for spiciness, so I had a little trouble with the jalapeno, but overall it was great! The fries were also delicious as well as the homemade potato chips. I also recommend the rueban spring rolls. My boyfriend had the venison burger, which was their daily special. He scarfed it down faster than I have ever seen someone eat such a giant burger. He said it was the best burger he has ever had. We also had a couple of craft beers. They have a fairly large selection of them, which is nice and our serve was able to point us in the right direction. We were so stuffed after our appetizer, beer and burgers that we didn't have enough room for dessert, which I was very sad about because they looked sooo good and I have heard great things. Thanks fellow yelpers for a fun, friendly, and tasty find. The restaurant was 50s retro chic with bright red booths and gas inspired memorabilia. I can't say enough positive things about the friendly service, from recommendations to refills to checking in just enough, all with a smile. And they knew the way to my heart...Diet Dr. Pepper on tap! I opted for the Easy Squeezy Grilled Cheesy, with cheddar and provolone with french fries. I needed some good comfort food that day! My husband got the fresh fish sandwich with homemade chips (definitely go for the malt vinegar). Both were great on homemade bread! He also loved the complimentary deviled eggs. They had bacon, so fellow veggies beware. We were stuffed and no room for dessert, but hopefully next time when we are in town. They looked really delicious! People have been talking about this place for MONTHS and I finally made it there. The food is DELICIOUS! If you are looking for a good burger go here! Sooo good! I'm always looking for a good burger. They also have an EXCELLENT Mac and Cheese dish with Penne noodles. So good and cheesy! I was even able to take the leftovers home and add my own noodles for a 2nd serving. They also had a really good Tomato Basil Soup. It has a little bit of a kick to it and was a little rich but it was also really good. I'd go back again! YUM! It was the best food I've had in a while. I had the Veggie Brown (with blackened tofu and pickled vegetables. The tofu was marinated in mojo. It is the best tofu dished I've ever had besides a dish in #Thugkitchen. We also had a jalapeño popper burger, Poe boy sandwich (off the menu because they ran out of fresh catch), and their special burger with BBQ sauce. If you are scared or not sure about this place you need to stop by and eat. Everything is local too. Our waitress was freakin awesome, down to earth, and knew her beer and menu parring! Unfortunately, Gas joins the list of, "Restaurants I was SUPER STOKED about going to, only to be incredibly let down." A large group of my family dined at GAS and the sulky silence was incredibly awkward as everyone bit into their meal and no one remarked that they liked their food....I had picked the restaurant....great... Because I didn't want to pay $14 for the Jalapeno Burger, I tried the more affordable Cuban Burger. The description sounded amazing! However, the burger was having a major identity crisis. I LOVE Burgers and I LOVE Cuban sandwiches. Together however....It was just a confusing marriage of flavors that did not gel well. The burger was edible and good enough to finish (once I added more mustard) but I would not recommend it to anyone else. My uncle ordered the same thing and felt similarly. The saving grace to GAS was the amazing service and the outstanding Reuben Spring Rolls!!! They really were delectable stuffed with cornbeef, sauerkraut and cheese. The outer fried batter was wonderfully crispy and chewy! Everyone LOVED them! The Coconut Pie was "okay" but not sweet enough. I did appreciate the toasted brulee topping however. I *would* give GAS another try in the future. The Reuben Spring Rolls were incredible and *SO* many positive reviews means *SOMETHING* at GAS must be good. My grouper sandwich had ample fish and was perfectly blackened without the spices being overpowering. Bonus, the lemon caper sauce could actually be tasted and I wish I had a side bowl of it. Not only was it delicious with its deep and earthy flavors, but there was a lot of it. Way too much for one moderately hungry human being. We came in with a group of about 25 and they were able to accommodate us in a timely manner.
