Definitely the bang for your buck! We had a huge order of 9 plates from Gateway, and it all came out to just about $60. I would like to call out that this place is Cash Only, so be prepared for that. There is a nearby liquor store that has an ATM machine for a $3 charge. The staff worked really hard to get our food ready. I appreciate that they were able to make it all in just 20 minutes. Since my work has relocated to Daly City and it's conveniently close to us, I ordered some with my friends. When I first heard of Gateway through IG, I knew I had to try it if I was ever in the Daly City area and it did not disappoint! At $5.50-7.50ish for their silogs, it really felt like I was getting my bang for my buck with the portion sizes and my filipino breakfast cravings were fulfilled. One thing to note is it is CASH ONLY. I came on a Saturday morning close to when they opened and while there wasn't a long line, there were a couple of other folks in front of us as well as people who had phoned their order in. One thing I wish I did before coming was reading the reviews because I would have opted to call ahead to save some time waiting so that's something I would do in the future. Despite that, I felt like the food was made in a reasonable time at about 10-15 mins. I got the HK style pork chop silog with a side of longanisa and I was satisfied. The pork chop was massive and pretty crispy. The flavor was okay and I found it fine to eat as is or with a bit of vinegar but my siblings felt theirs needed a bit more flavor so maybe a tad bit of salt would have done the trick. Personally, I could have done with a little less of the fried garlic for the rice but luckily it was on top so it was easy to either scoop out or avoid the pieces I didn't want to eat. The star of my meal was the longanisa though and I'm so glad I got it as a side. Pro tip: ask for the mini cups to get vinegar on the side to eat with your food. The staff was super friendly and I love that this is a family-run business. Despite being busy, they acknowledged us when we walked in and we're able to make the food in a reasonable amount of time. While this probably isn't the best silog I've ever had, I'd say the portion and prices can't be beat and Gateway is a solid option if you're in the area and want a cheap Filipino style breakfast. read more

When I first starting coming here, the HK style pork chop used to cost $4.25 - yes, you heard that right! 2 large pieces of pork chops with rice, egg and pineapple for less than $5. Now, it costs $5.50 which is still an absolute steal. I can't finish the entire meal so this can really be 2 meals. Order the soup on the side for $1.50 and you'll have the perfect Sunday lunch meal.
