On sunday afternoon at 4:30 I come to the house and I see a big wet spot where the house meets the ground, with water seemingly seeping out from under the house. Worried that it could be the stuff of nightmares (the dreaded underground leak), I call around to multiple places including one owned by a personal friend of mine and nobody could get back to me let alone get out to me. I call gateway, and Nick picks up his phone and is literally at my house in under 20 minutes. He checks the meter and does some other things and we conclude it's not an underground leak but something else having to do with the hose faucet. (An easy home depot type fix) I tried to pay him for coming out on a Sunday evening, and he refuses to take any money insisting he didn't actually do anything and just that I should call him if I have a problem where he actually has to work. This man was clearly competent and knew what he was doing, but there are plenty of those out there. The key for a home contractor is that hes honest and won't take you for a ride. Combine that with quick response and you pretty much have an all time winner, And that is Nick. I called Nick this past Saturday morning because my sink got stopped up on both sides. He was at my house within an hour. I originally thought my disposal needed to be replaced but he took a look and said my pipes were clogged. He also found a pipe had been repaired incorrectly and fixed it! I was more than impressed by Nick and his son. His price was competetive. He went above and beyond what I expected. As he was working, I mentioned my kitchen sink drains slow and would he be able to snake it. I fully expected to pay a little more for the extra task. Not only did I not pay more, his price ended up being less than his estimate which he could have easily charged me the full estimate. But this review isn't only about the savings. Must read!!!!!!! We had a clogged pipe that we couldn't fix! It was such an inconvenience to our guest. We couldn't use the sink the showers the bathtub. It was a real nightmare. Gateway Rooter did a TERRIFIC job with our repair. We have an old bath where the knob came off, which prevented us from turning on/off the hot water. We got five quotes, and Gateway Rooter was very reasonable and most importantly, efficient. Nick went out right away and searched at 5 different stores for the part (not many places make parts for our old-style bath, which a lot of plumbers told us). Nick was reliable, honest, and communicated well, explaining the issue clearly and what our options were. He was reasonable with his assessment, while other companies told us we had to knock out a wall and install brand new pipes or just plain didn't know how to solve the issue. I had an unbelievably good experience with this company. I help our my Auntie Jane down in LA and I called Gateway Rooter to remove and replace an old drip pipe that went all the way to the roof. First, they had the best estimate. Them, before doing the job, we were given a free camera inspection. During the job the plumbers notice how the exterior siding was cracked behind the old pipe and water was getting between the walls. Not only did Gateway discover the problem, they filled the crack and repaired the problem before installing a new pipe, saving Auntie further costs down the road. When they were finished they took the old pipe and cleaned their mess and I wasn't charged extra for the repair they made to the siding. I needed to have a side sewer line repaired. Daniel of Gateway rooter plumbing came out to review the job and make the estimate. He seemed like a competent, straight-shooting guy and he didn't try to up-sell me. This was encouraging, but the fact that their bid came in the lowest of the four made it an easy decision. The two men who did the work, John and Steve did an excellent job. They took good care of the surrounding plants and property, which was especially impressive given how difficult and cramped the work site was. They even moved and re-planted a 3" diameter tree!
