My husband and I stopped in here for lunch after a run in the park because we remembered Pinkerton's is closed on Monday but had a hankering for some bbq. For a fast casual bbq concept, you really can't get any better than this. The restaurant is clean and the service is friendly, but most importantly the bbq is solid and comes out quick. I ordered a brisket sandwich and side of cole slaw, and my husband ordered a three meat plate (brisket, pulled pork and St. Louis ribs) and sides of cole slaw and grilled vegetables. I cringed when he asked for the grilled vegetables expecting some reheated mushy frozen vegetables like you might expect at other places, but I was pleasantly surprised because the vegetables were obviously fresh, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Similarly, the coleslaw was also fresh and tasty and not the mushy-watery-sauce-kind you get at a lot of bbq places. Most importantly, the meat was solid. The ribs were probably the tastiest, but the brisket and and pork were also delicious. Also, they have beer on tap and I saw they also serve wine. Here in Texas visiting family and was told this place was the best. I have tried brisket before and a lot while in Texas and I wasn't really in the mood for it since I haven't ever liked it but I said ok. Hands down the brisket ever it literally melts in your mouth and the dark crusty trim holy cow! Amazing!! The ribs are perfect and I also really loved the macaroni and cheese. Also, our wait was maybe 5 min to the register and 15 min to our table after that. I had the east coast/west coast plate and it was really good. The pork rib was the best pork rib I have ever had. The brisket was good but not life changing. Amazing!! Ignore the bad reviews and go here if you need some true Texas joy in your life. The food was perfect. Moist brisket and just the right about of smoke. I didn't even need the BBQ sauce (apple cider), but I recommend giving it a try if you want another depth of flavor. Venison sausage was great and the ribs, doubt very me started. Waited in line for about 10min, but that goes to show how many people also believe this is some great stuff. Service was great and food was served hot and with a smile. This BBQ is good but it's not as good as one would expect after waiting in line to order for 45 mins and then waiting an additional 45 mins to get your food...they really need to get a better system going. We asked some friends where the best BBQ was in the Houston area and they said Gatlins. So that's where we went. It did not disappoint. Had ribs and brisket. My favorite was the ribs. Along with that you got two sides. Very large servings...could not finish what was on my plate. The service was excellent! Everyone was very friendly and I didn't have to wait long for my food. I drove 20 minutes on my lunch break to try their turkey but it was not ready when I got there (11:15). I got a chopped beef potatoe instead. I just had one of the best experiences with BBQ. The new location is wonderful, very clean and the service amazing. I was so impressed with the options, as I ordered they asked if I wanted lean or mixed. My wife hated the old location because of the fatty experience, this will change her mind. Had dinner here last night. Usually come about once every other week. It is always a treat. Usually go with the spare ribs, brisket or pulled pork. Decided to get the smoked wings this time. Just with everything else I've eaten here, they were on point. The wings were cooked perfectly and the house sauce beats anything you can get at a traditional wing joint. went to this place after seeing it listed as one of the top ten bbq joints in Houston.went labor day 2020 stood in line 40 min.First and definately last time i will make that mistake!I talked with one lady that drove from League City! She was definately disapointed as well.So what was wrong with it? To start with,every thing was cold! I got brisket and a 1/4 pound of sausuge.The Brisket was fair at best,Sausuge under cooked and waaay to salty.The sides i got were an absoulute joke.Macaroni was totaly under cooked,chewy and swiming in water.Kraft instant is better than this!Potatoe salad had no taste at all and was just plain nasty! The staff was not helpfull at all bordering on rude.I asked for two pieces of bread and got nothing! I was in Houston on business and, being from New York, I wanted authentic BBQ. Gatlin's fit the bill and then some! I got the brisket plate with mac and cheese and smoked corn. It was probably the best brisket I have ever had. My friend got the pulled pork plate and said that it was phenomenal. As much as the food was fantastic...the service was better! I read hundreds of reviews before posting to give Gatlins a fair review. Most of the unfortunate reviews are over bad customer service, which justifies my 2 stars. Gatlin's BBQ is delicious! I had been several times from 2018-2019 and the food was fantastic every time and I was with work friends. TODAY, I drove my family of 5 20 miles to support this local business just to have a horrible experience. As usual, the food was great but the staff had AWFUL attitudes. As described in several reviews, ZERO friendly interaction with customers, their body language suggests that we were not worthy to be there and we were an inconvenience. THE YOUNG LADY WITH THE RED BRAIDS was extra snotty. My name was called, she asked me if I needed utensils, I said yes, I'm dining in ( I don't normally bring my own utensils), she rolled her eyes and snapped at me for needing utensils and gave me 3. She really huffed and puffed when I asked for 1 more being 4 of us eating. It is very sad to dig deep in our pockets at a time like this just to support a local business to be treated like trash. Passed by this place many times ! Never stopped, but this evening I wanted something different! Been to Demeris BBQ...subpar, Thomas BBQ...pretty good but not enough meat on potato. So I walk into GATLINS BBQ...Very nice atmosphere, lots of people eating...good sign! I order my food to go, Turkey BBQ with butter and green chives and BBQ sauce, also a pulled Chicken sandwich with green beans and potato salad. Wow! My Chicken sandwich was excellent! PLENTY of Chicken on it and the FLAVOR WAS DEVINE!! The BBQ SAUCE was to DIE FOR!! Just right!! The Turkey Potato was AWESOME!! LOTS of meat and the taste was SCRUMPTIOUS to say the least! The green beans had a LIVELY and SPICY taste to them but not too hot...just right! The potato salad was great, the right amount of yellow mustard! We will definitely be BACK!!
