The prices and sizes are great but quality is pretty lacking. At the very least, it fell way below my expectations after reading other reviews. The pizza dough is good and the toppings are good but the sauce is extremely bland and more sweet than salty, (if you absolutely require a sweet sauce at least put enough salt to balance it). The sausage topping was also not great and I picked it off. Jalapeño poppers were bland and not even slightly hot, no clue how they managed that but at least my insides are probably thankful. Why serve them with sour cream? All in all, I'm not sure we'll reorder because the pizza just wasn't tasty enough to satisfy a craving. If we do, it'll be in like a year to see if they've fixed their sauce. read more

I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. This has to be the worse food ever. $65.00 later the pizza is terrible, since when is a cheese pizza spicy? The subs are huge (the bread only) inside was practically empty. You also have no clue and should not be making "Italian subs". Also, the appetizer plate was so over done almost burnt. Ugh. So, it seems as though this place has changed ownership. I got my usual chicken vodka Pizza and pepperoni mushroom pizza last night and they were entirely different and not nearly as good as they were under the previous ownership. It was like night and day. I sensed something was up from the second I walked in the door. I live right down the street and Gaya has become my go-to. They will customize your order... so if you read nothing else in this review TELL THEM THE WAY YOU LIKE IT. I'll use chicken Parmesan sub as an example: Initially I didn't think the food was great, because it was light on sauce. I saw in the yelp reviews & online that they tell people to order it the way they like & they'll do their best to make it as such. I now ask for extra marinara on the chicken parm and it's absolutely perfect. Best in the area for sure. The food itself as a base is REALLY good, but they may not initially make it your way (I ask for extra garlic on garlic knots, I also swap sauces to marinara for broccoli bites). So just ask, because they do a great job. TLDR: Great food & They'll customize your order the way you like it, but you have to comment / ask for it. read more

This is hands down the best pizza in the Somerville area. Every other pizza place is either salty as an old dog or indigestion on dough. Gaya has never provided a dinner that has been short of perfect. The only negative thing about this place is it is closed on Saturdays. I was ordering from here consistently for a few months. NEVER AGAIN. The service and the quality of the food got considerably worse ever single time. One night I waited an hour and twenty minutes for one pizza. This place is a 3 minute drive from my house. 10-12 mins away on a day with heavy traffic. I chalked that up to them maybe having a bad day and gave them another chance. Boy was I wrong. Ordered for delivery the following Friday and this time I waited TWO HOURS for a single pizza. No exaggeration, it took an hour and 58 minutes from the time I called until the driver arrived from a place that is a 3 minute drive from my house. If you're busy its understandable, but at least let the customer know up front. I worked at pizza places in the past and have been ordering take-out for almost 20 years, i can honestly say i have never had an experience this bad. After waiting an hour and twenty minutes I had to call multiple times to see where the delivery guy was. The incompetent person who answers the phone just keeps telling me "he's two minutes away, any minute any minute". Every time he said that another 20 minutes would pass and no sign of him. The guy was clearly just lying through his teeth, i could tell. I said forget it I just want my money back and all i got was "no no no he's on his way 2 minutes". As if that was frustrating enough, here comes the best part. THE COMPLETE DOPE OF A DELIVERY DRIVER FINALLY ARRIVES AFTER 2 HOURS AND TAKES MY PIZZA OUT OF HIS TRUNK AND HES NOT EVEN USING A HOT BAG!!! MIND YOU.... ITS THE MIDDLE OF WINTER IN BOSTON, PROBABLY 20 DEGREES TOPS. I used to work as a delivery driver, but even if you didn't its just common sense that you don't put a hot item into an freezing cold trunk in the middle of winter, even with an insulated bag it would still be cold. After two hours of waiting i was handed a stiff, ice cold pizza that I had to reheat in my own oven and eventually just threw away. Asked to speak to the owner and was told he'd call back.... never did. I called the next day and finally got the owner who is a complete asshole. Tried to explain what happened and he just kept talking over me and basically saying the problem was my fault somehow?? Okay....He kept asking me why I didn't give the pizza back? I said i tried, i pre-paid on my card and asked for my money back multiple times before the food cane and was told no! Then i was told the owner would call me back which you never did. He hung up on me and then called back 10 minutes later trying to apologize and said he'd give me a free pizza next time i order, no apology or offer to give me my money back. I said I'm all set, why would I ever order from you again. He finally reluctantly agreed refund my money. Week went by, no refund. At this point i didn't even care about the refund, I just wanted to call back to tell the owner what a lying piece of shit he is how awful his customer service skills are. He picked up and said "oh i think i sent someone by your house and nobody was there". I said no.... no ya didnt. You're just a liar nobody ever came here. Why would someone come to my house if i paid using my debit card? Why not just refund my card? Eventually he sent a driver to my house to refund the money. At that point I honestly didnt even want it, it was just the principal of the situation. I cannot comprehend the level of stupidity it takes to yell at a regular customer who orders from you frequently when the entire thing was your fault just amazes me. Just a nightmare experience. Fast delivery- ordered from grub hub and it came 15 minutes earlier than expected. The crust in the pizza is nice and crispy but that's about where the positives end. Ordered hamburger and was given meatball. It tasted sour so we tried to pull it off but since it was under the cheese all the cheese and other toppings came with it. Also ordered poutine and it's criminal to call it as such. Fries were hard on the inside and pale so probably under cooked but were slick and mushy on the outside because it was packed in an unvented container. A drizzle of gravy and what looks like melted shredded cheese that is tasteless accompanied the sad fries. Neither item was worth suffering through. I'm new to the area. I just had my first pizza from Gaya and it was truely amazing! The style of pizza from Gaya is not hard to define, it's not authentic italian, not chicago nor NYC style. But one thing is very clear: it's really delicious! Fresh and generous toppings, thin and crispy doughs, and just right amout of sources beneath. I am regretful to take so long to find Gaya :) Plus: their delivery is not so bad. Went here for the first time tonight and got a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. I got to say I was pretty impressed. The crust was great and the pizza was very fresh. The next time I get a pizza which will probably be very soon I will get it from here. The place was also clean and the guy who I interacted with this very nice. Place Had a nice smell to it as well. If I was going to say anything about the pizza and be somewhat critical, they could've possibly cooked it for maybe another 1 to 2 minutes. I grew up in NJ and by all means consider myself a massive snob when it comes to pizza. For the greater Camberville area, this is very good pizza. Sauce isn't overly sweet, cheese ratio was on point and quality roni on top. My only gripe, and this is a bit more of a personal preference, is the dough is a bit thick and has cornmeal all over it. The cornmeal thing I'll never get. Just use flour to keep the pizza from sticking! I digress. Anyway, ordered at 605pm on a Friday night, had delicious hot pizza at my door in about an hour. No complaints about. Also, a 20 inch pizza for $18? Pretty good deal. Glad to have this place around, it'll be my new go to for pizza after having tried quite a few other disappointments in the area. I was staying at a hotel in Cambridge so I ordered delivery from Gaya. I got a pepperoni calzone and garlic twists. The calzone was ok, there wasn't much cheese or pepperoni inside it so it wasn't perfect but it didn't necessarily taste bad. Coming from NY I was really hoping the garlic twists were like garlic knots but they weren't, they were very thin kind of chewy circles that were a little crispy on the bottom.
