    Cheesesteak Grilled Cheese on rye
    Mel J.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on new year's eve day and decided to try since many restaurants were closed. We ordered via kiosk and got buzzed when our orders were ready. The restaurant was quite busy for lunch but we managed to get a booth. - cheesesteak on rye: the bread was toasted and super crispy. The cheesesteak was too salty for me but the steak itself was tender. - young american on sourdough: the sourdough was perfectly toasted and crunchy. The tomato, bacon & cheese were simple yet delicious combo. The tomato was fresh, the bacons were crispy, and the cheese was delicious.

We were walking around Washington DC and happened across the GCDC Grilled Cheese Bar - and we are glad we stumbled upon it! You can either order with staff or by tablet. There are a lot of options and you can create your own unique grilled cheese (this is what I did). The food came out quick and it was a hit for the whole family!

I can't believe there aren't any of these where I'm from (Minnesota)! Such classic comfort food with so many creatively delicious twists. I was immediately asked if I needed help and I got a good laugh by asking if they could make mine into quarters because I wanted to try multiple but had no one to split with as a solo traveler. I ended up going with the jalapeño popper and threw bacon in it for good measure. It was super good! Also - they have their own lemonade which really hit the spot in a warm DC day spent walking under the National Mall sun!

I was so excited to see there was an entire restaurant devoted to different types of grilled cheese in the area. They of course also have tomato soup, because you can't have grilled cheese without tomato soup, that would be a travesty! It's counter service, order at the counter or with some screens at the front of the place and then they text you or call out the number to pick it up. It's a somewhat little space, so caution if you're there at a busy time. The food is amazing though and so worth it. I got the tomato soup (of course) and the Mediterranean grilled cheese substituting in the fake chicken, because well why not? It was amazing. In fact it was so good, that we had some folks in our party that came in a day later than the others and we came back for a second visit (I had the green goddess grilled cheese that time and of course, tomato soup!). Highly recommend checking this place out!

Amazing service. Handstand one of the best places we've eaten in DC. They accommodate allergies like celiac, to the highest degree. Atmosphere vibes temperature of the place music everything was 10/10

My brother and I deliberated over a spot to get a quick lunch at while taking in the sights in DC. Eventually, we landed on GCDC, largely in part due to the clever name. The ordering system is simple and patrons place their own orders with a tablet set up. After landing on our selections, we found a seat in the upper level area. The lighting was kind of dark but it was cozy and we were able to chit chat as we ate. I ordered the pizza melt grilled cheese with a side of mac and cheese. The grilled cheese was delicious. It had a perfect pizza taste without being overwhelmingly saucy. The mac and cheese, however, would have benefited from a bit more cheese sauce.

Chose to try this place out before a comedy show at Dar Hall. Went during dinner hour on a a Saturday. There were a few tables outfront, walking inside there are a couple tablets to place your order or you can place your order with a staff member. The vibe was fun!!! They had a bar area, and some booth seating and some high chair seating at the front that lined with the wall with the countertop seating! They had a selection of music playing that made me feel like I took a Time Machine back to mid 2000s to 2010s and it was loud and fun!!! The staff member who placed my order was very nice and helpful! Ordered a couple of burgers and blueberry mint limeades! The wait for the food wasn't long at all, I mean the place also wasn't super busy which was nice for a Saturday @ 6PM! To start off, the Blueberry Mint Limeade was top tier!!! Just the way the flavors fused together it was a really good beverage to order. Now for the burgers, the gyro burger had a taste of the name in every bite, you had the taste of the feta, the red onion the tomato and burger, it had it all, on a couple slices of super toasty Texas Toast! The Truffle Bacon Burger was definitely the Winner here for me, I tried it, something caramelized onions, aioli and some bacon nonetheless a burger to top all those ingredients... you have yourself a flavor packed burger!!! Definitely liked the twist on the "burger" with that Texas Toast!!! All in all an amazing dine-in experience. Also the bathroom was nice and clean! Will have to come back and try other items on menu! Definitely worth a try! Thanks for you business! P.S. I would go back strictly for that Blueberry Mint Limeade LOL!

We stopped in to this little DC gem for lunch and fell in love with it!! Great take on the lived classic, grilled cheese!! I had the Green Goddess, a wonderful combination with mozzarella, goat cheese, pesto, avocado, and I added chicken. Very good!! My husband has the Fig & Ham, and my son the Cuban with pulled pork. All loved the food!! The employees were friendly and helpful. I recommend you try this one out if you are in the area!

It's a must visit place when you are in DC if you want quick delicious lunch. So many different versions of a grilled cheese and of course some fantastic tomato soup to go with it. I met with the owner a couple of times when we happen to be in there And just overall a great experience while there. Will definitely hit it again when I'm there next year.

I ordered ahead of time since their website said there was a 25-30min wait for pick up. The store doesn't have a lot of seating but people were quickly leaving so it wasn't difficult to find a place to sit. Southwest grilled cheese: I don't even like chorizo but this changed my opinion! I would def order again Truffle: soooo buttery, fresh mushrooms, and definitely cheesy. Tomato soup is my comfort food and it lived up to my expectation. It came out hot and paired excellent with the grilled cheese. It was hard to choose what to get since their menu has so many options but we like that! I can't wait to come back to try other menu items.

Such a delicious place! Stopped in for lunch. The workers were quick and very nice. it's so cool and fun inside the restaurant as well. I got the pizza grilled cheese with no meat. It tasted just like an actual pizza no joke! Hot cheese, tangy sauce and the herbs were so good. And the crust was crispy but not too crispy. I usually only eat half of a grilled cheese because it's too rich and cheesy for me but here, I could eat multiple of them! Come here so so so good! Would come again definitely!

I love this place. If you're in DC you need to stop here for lunch. My husband had the Cuban grilled cheese and I had the gluten free Mack n cheese with chicken and bacon. OMG, it was so delicious. The service was great and the atmosphere was really cool. The pricing was good also, this was our first meal under $50.

Maybe they were all reserved? Not sure. We were greeted by the staffs and shown to the table. Smooth and fast. All the menu looked tempting so had hard time choosing which one to go with. Went with meatloaf and miso salmon. Meatloaf was really good! Flavorful with tender/juicy meat combined with onions, bell peppers etc. Miso salmon was also good! Okra and broccoli were adding more taste to the dish itself. No complaints at all! The prices were on the higher side though. Menu says each are $28. However, there was mandatory service charge of 20% and tax was calculated after the service charge, which end up being approximately $40 per menu item we got - miso salmon and meatloaf. Wish the menu price would just include service charges so prices would not be misleading with all the charges after. Not sure if this is because of World Cup 2026, but too bad they had to hit their customers with extra fees after enjoying the meals which could have ended happily rather than leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

The ribeye and New York strip were very good. The butchers steak I got for my son and he didn't really like it, it was lacking flavor. If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. The pimento cheese is good with them but it becomes a little too decadent. Overall I'm happy we made the decision to come here, we will be back soon.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.
