A fusion of Italian, American and Asian is this gem of a bistro. There's street parking as well as a small lot in the back of the restaurant. The waitress (not sure if also the owner) who served us was pleasant and very hospitable during our entire dining experience. She made us feel welcomed as soon as we walked in, didn't judge us when we ordered a bunch of dishes and she even brought extra napkins during the middle of our dining -- now that's service. 1. House Garden Salad (4/5) Pretty standard salad of mixed greens topped with freshly sliced mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and crunchy croutons. Have a choice of Italian or Cesar dressing. 2. Chicken Farfalle Pasta (4/5) Bow-tie-shaped Italian pasta that is sautéed with chicken breast and sun dried tomatoes in creamy marsala sauce. The noodles were al dente while the sauce was creamy and cheesy. Wish there was more chicken and tomatoes though. 3. Deviled Eggs (5/5) Perfect hard-boiled eggs that are halved and the yolks mashed and mixed with mayo to create creaminess goodness. It is seasoned with paprika, but not too much ... just enough to give it flavor without burning your mouth. Each order comes with 6 halves 4. Beef Rib Soup (5/5) A hearty broth of beef soup that's light, savory and rich in flavor without being too salty. The beef was tender. 5. Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya (4/5) I'm a fan of cajun flavors, so ordered this soul-comforting dish. The rice was super fluffy, the chicken was slightly over-cooked, but the shrimp and andouille sausage were cooked to perfection. The sausage had the double smoked rich flavor that I oh so enjoy while the shrimp was fresh and was coated well in the cajun seasoning. Minus 1 star mainly because I felt the seasoning was not quite there ... it missing something like the extra fiery-ness - maybe more pepper or some herbally basil? I would get it again though. 6. New Zealand Lamb Chops (5/5) The lamb chops were cooked well; fairly tender and juicy. The chimichurri sauce added flavor and balanced the gaminess out. It's served with a side of mashed potatoes and carrots. 7. Linguini with Meatballs (5/5) I personally did not try this dish so I cannot write much about it. However, per my brother, he stated that it was "a good spaghetti, but what [he] really cared for was mainly the meatballs." It was a very nice experience dining here. Will come back when in the area or when the family is having a hard time agreeing/choosing between eating Asian or American food. Overall, I'd give them a 4.5/5.

This place has no reason to be so delicious. The ambience is classy without being too pretentious, so you don't have to feel like you're out of place wearing sweats here. Me and my partner have dined a few times and it's always been consistent. Food is good and service from the waitress is amazing! One of my favorite dishes here is definitely the duck breast. It's tender, juicy, and paired with the creamiest mash potatoes that's does not need gravy. It's that good. Still returning!

For a casual night out w good portion sizes, you can't go wrong with Sage Bistro. The menu is fairly small, so the restaurant knows what it's good at, and doesn't mess with anything they don't pretend to know. You'll most likely have the pleasure of Wanda being your server, who is amazing and greeted A TON of regulars who walked in for dinner on a Saturday. With that many people coming back to dine again and again, you just know it's good. What we thought were 5/5 dishes: seared salmon, seared sea scallops, braised short rib, garlic butter shrimp & mashed potatoes

WOW!! If you're looking for a place to eat that also makes you feel at home, this is where you come. We've been dying to try this place and finally had the chance for our birthday! This is a small family owned business, and Wanda made us feel right at home. She recommended that we eat family style (there were five of us) so we could try a little bit of everything. We started off with the jumbo shrimp appetizer which was fried to order. It came out hot! For the mains, we got to try: shrimp garlic mashed potatoes, chicken farfalle pasta, braised short rib, pan seared salmon, and seared sea scallops. I love that this place has photos for each of the menu items so you know exactly what you're getting. The portions here are HUGE! We definitely didn't need to order 5 dishes, but we have no regrets at all. The sauce on the shrimp garlic mashed potatoes was so good. The shrimp was cooked perfectly - very bouncy. The braised short rib came on a bone and it. fell. right. off. Talk about tender!! The pan seared salmon was also cooked very well and the crispy potatoes had us fighting over it. The sea scallops were also really good! I've never had that pasta shape before. The chicken farfalle pasta was okay, nothing wrong, but the other dishes were better! Wanda mentioned they make all their desserts in house, so we couldn't leave without trying it. My god the tiramisu was SO moist!! The cheesecake was well balanced. Can't go wrong either way. We will 100% be coming back! They have a ton of regulars here and Wanda recognizes everyone, can't wait to be a regular.

Garlic shrimp mashed potatoes! Must order dish!

I Just discovered a hidden gem in Alhambra! The food is incredibly flavorful! Everything we ordered was absolutely on point. The boss lady is so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. And their butternut squash soup, SO good. A total must order!!

We're off to the Ahmanson Theater in LA on a crazy rainy night (in the middle of the last deluge period) and we walk into Sage Bistro...and no one's there except a server! We were treated very well and split every dish. Unfortunately, the deviled eggs were a bit of a letdown (too sweet, not enough mustard to balance) -- certainly passible but underwhelming. But then the butternut squash soup came and it was unique and delicious...but nothing prepared us for the excellent stuffed chicken breast with its crispy outer coating and the remarkable mashed potatoes. So, overall, the latter two dishes made up for the egg issues and with the fine service I rounded 4.5 up to 5 (wish Yelp would allow people to do 1/2 star increments). Casual environmentals.

Delicious! Every time we come here, this spot never disappoints. I decided to try something new this time and go with Salmon. It was a risk because many places typically overcook their salmon, but to my pleasant surprise the pan seared salmon wasn't overcooked, and was very flavorful. It sits on a bed of rice with sliced potatoes. I finished my plate so quickly I ended up eating some of my bf Cajun pasta because I was bored. The Cajun pasta has a slight kick, but nothing too crazy. Also full of flavor and had a lot of seafood! Also comes with a delicious garlic bread! Overall, a great experience. The owner is friendly, funny and helpful. She is also very attentive to her customers which is much appreciated! Parking is also very easy, right on the street!

4.5 stars. Haven't been here in a while, but food is still good. FOOD: Pan Seared Salmon 5/5 Usually I get the Salmon Salad, but opted for the Pan Seared version this time. I like it. It's got potatoes and rice. Flavor is good and no fishiness from the salmon. The thing about ordering salmon or seafood is worrying that it's not fresh or have that fishy smell (in an over bearing way). Beef Rib Soup 5/5 Tasty and comforting. Shrimp & Chicken Jambalaya 5/5 BF's favorite. It's more of a 4.25 out of 5 for me. I like it, but would usually order other dishes. Usually I get the Shrimp Garlic Mashed Potato or Salmon Salad with Mango Salsa. Gotten the Duck Breast dish and other pasta dishes in the past, which are 4.25 and 4 stars respectively. Not completely sure if it's a husband and wife run small business or not, but it seems like it. The front of house lady is server/order taker and cashier. Back of house, there's a chef. Don't know if there's any other staff, but support small, local business if you can.

It was quiet when we went but a quaint little place. We received attentive thoughtful service, but we were the only customers as it was the week of Lunar New Year, so everyone else is having Chinese food. The food? Amazing! Al dente pasta with perfectly cooked scallops and larger portions. We got the salmon mango salad (an interesting combo but it works), Cajun seafood pasta and sea scallops with trofie pasta (short, thin twisted pasta).

Food is always delicious here one of my favorite hidden gems. Forgot to take a picture of the salmon bruschetta but also delicious.

Finally, french food place that is good! We need more out here in SGV. Definitely family-owned and have pride in their dishes. I really enjoyed the seabass the most. When you taste all items on the plate together, it felt like the ingredients harmonized. Ambience has some nice light melodic music, so it feels lighthearted. Wish they added more decorations to make it feel romantic for dates. Otherwise, good for a date if you want to take someone for some french food.

We all know the crispy rice bits are the essence of the dish and it was perfectly crispy without being overly burnt. Also scraped off easily. There was a good topping to rice ratio. I knew I liked it when I found myself eating a little more than I usually do. I can only speak for the claypot rice here and it's def comparable to Chong Yuen Fong's. I came with a large group of 7 adults and 4 kids on a very busy night, with a crowd waiting outside the restaurant. Despite how packed it was, service moved steadily and dishes came out in a timely manner. Most of the food felt very homey -- the kind of comforting dishes that reminded me of meals my grandmother used to make. That first visit was pleasant enough that I decided to bring my dad back specifically to try their signature Vietnamese lobster dish. Unfortunately, the second visit turned out to be disappointing. We intentionally came for lunch to avoid the dinner rush and were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was only about 75% occupied. Drinks arrived quickly, and we ordered salt and pepper tiger shrimp, green beans, and the house special lobster with an extra order of e-mein noodles on the side. Our server briefly returned with a live lobster in a metal bowl, mumbled "4 pounds," and walked away. A few minutes later, the shrimp and green beans arrived along with rice. We ate, waited, and continued waiting. By the time we had completely finished the two dishes -- probably about 25 minutes later -- nobody had checked on us, updated us about the lobster dish, or even acknowledged the delay. We finally flagged down another staff member and asked for the check because at that point the lobster still had not arrived and we were ready to leave. We asked if the lobster could simply be removed from the bill, but were told it was already being prepared. Ironically, the lobster dish finally appeared moments later, the e-mein noodle followed a few minutes later. For what is marketed as their signature dish, the lobster itself was honestly not very memorable. The preparation with green onion and basil was interesting since it was our first time trying lobster this way, but neither the flavor nor the presentation justified the long wait (if that's what it was or just an oversight in the kitchen) or elevated expectations. What stood out more than the food was the lack of service and communication. Delays happen, especially at busy restaurants, but a quick check-in or update would have made a big difference. The restaurant also automatically adds a 12% service charge to the bill. While automatic gratuities are becoming more common, and in this case, I even added extra just to bring the tip up to 15%. With that expectation, there should also be a basic level of attentiveness and customer service. Overall, the food and service felt comparable to a typical Chinese comfort-food restaurant like Sam Woo, satisfying enough for a casual meal, but not particularly memorable considering the Michelin Guide recognition and pricing. Personally, the experience did not justify a return visit. I'd rather go to places like Lunasia or Kim Tar Seafood, where the overall experience feels more polished and consistent with the price point.

Tom Yum: hot, sour, and tangy, this broth is very aromatic with explosive flavors. At the end of the meal, you can ask for their complimentary ice cream. I was able to find metered parking on the street; not sure why but I didn't need to pay that day! Upon arriving, we were fortunate that there was no wait time and got seated right away. Their menu was quite extensive so we took some time to browse before we ordered. They had a main menu and also a special menu. We pointed out some allergies to the staff and he helped us work around it. The orders came out quickly and he checked in on us frequently to see if we were okay. Great service! Bakka Wild Salmon - This salmon had a lot of things going on for it, in a good way! The combination of flavors felt very refreshing, especially on a hot day. The lime and basil played a big part there. Crispy Short Rib with Lime - Even initially before coming here, this was the dish that caught our attention. I will admit the portion size was a bit smaller than I expected and was even skeptical when it came out. However, without a doubt, this was the highlight of the visit. As someone that loves savory foods, this really hit the spot. The burst of flavors settles in right away. Truffle Wok Seared Noodles - We wanted to pick this noodle dish as a balance to the protein dishes. It did its job but it tasted okay. Not something that stood out. Slow-Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan - I liked the caramel that was layered on the flan, it was crunchy and added a nice texture. It was a nice presentation but tasted okay. Thai Tea - This was my personal drink. It was a standard Thai tea but came with ice cream on top. It was not too sweet but didn't stand out compared to other items. Strawberry Pandan Lemonade - This was my girlfriend's drink. I had a small sip here but found it was refreshing and not too sweet. However, I didn't really get any pandan flavor, mainly strawberry. When it all comes together, it was a good experience. The interior of the story is more dimly lit and felt like a romantic night dinner, despite being the middle of the day. The dishes had a balance of standard and hidden gems. Everything was more than sufficient for two people to share. Service was great and very attentive. Will come back for the Crispy Short Ribs! American Express is accepted here.

This time i almost finished a whole plate to myself. I think if i didnt eat the squid legs i wouldve been able to finish. I still ask for things seared cause seared fish is the best. It looks like they added a dessert menu as well all the way in the back. I wanted to try their clam miso but the salmon plate already came with miso soup and you cant upgrade it. Service is always good, water gets refilled pretty fast without having to ask and if you need anything they get it right away. Parking is pretty decent. Even when the restaurant was packed, we were able to find parking.

But, it turns out this restaurant is Korean Japanese, which is fine. I was greeted by a hostess when I first entered and it turns out she was also the server. She was nice. The restaurant is relatively spacious and well-decorated. The menu was plentiful. The restroom, though, needs updating, but it wasn't dirty. These were the items I got: Skirt Beef & Tempura Bento ($23): It came with miso soup, side salad, rice, teriyaki beef, tempura, 4pcs of CA roll, & 2 pc tempura roll. I think it's actually big enough for 2 people to share. Everything was decent except for the beef. Next time, I think I'll stick to chicken or salmon. 3.7/5 stars Salmon Roll ($9): This was simple and delicious. The portions are small though. 4/5 stars. There is free parking on site. Overall, I think I'd come back to try other dishes.

The server told us to look at the menu when we're ready to order we can go to the front and order with someone once we ordered we were able to find a seating and the server who greeted us told us to sit in where we want so we chose a seating in the back near the drinks fountain. We ordered a premium New York steak dish and a regular beef dish with a drink, and we ended out getting some diet Pepsi. Near the drink fountain was sauce and utensils, which we tried both soy garlic and sweet and sour sauce. When the food came, it was super hot, so be careful when you have a little kids. We had to cut the steak into small pieces to make sure that we can share it together and also mix it with the rice which was in the separate bowl. The other beef dish was easier to mix, and we ended up using the white garlic for both because it tastes the best vs the other sauce. The New York steak was very tender. Definitely enjoy the size portions and loved the variety of vegetables it comes with. My son enjoyed the New York State more than the beef bowl. The place is very nice. I think I really enjoyed how we were able to choose our own seating after ordering. They even had a restrooms in the back, which are very clean.

But recent experience really didn't quite do it for us. The place feels grimy and sticky everywhere, the tables, chairs, and even the doors. The big order panel doesnt even work and you have to order at the counter, which is also taking phone orders. I had to wait for the staff to take a 5 minute phone order while I stood at the counter awkwardly. They also rolled out a kids menu, and my daughter was very excited about the pasta option on there because on the drawing it looked like pasta with a tomato sauce. It came plain with bits of dry chicken. Very disappointed. The food from the main menu is still decent but I doubt I would be going back as often as before now.
