I heard good things about this place prior to going. A friend had been in the past and told me to make sure I asked about the market price of the lobster for she paid $127 for her lobster! Knowing that going in, I got the Cap'n Geddy's Lobster Bake, as this was the only option for hot lobster unless I wanted to do the "Pay what it weighs option" like my friend must have done (or the lobster roll but I had a few previous nights). I liked that that the lobster bake comes with blueberry pie, chowder and corn on the cob so you're getting your money's worth. Well, I didn't want to crack the whole lobster at the table so note, if you ask, they will do this for you in the kitchen for an additional $4. I decided to go with this option. They call this the Lazy Man's Lobster I believe. So my $52 meal ended up costing $57. I will say though, the lobster was super fresh. One of the best if not the best lobster I had in Maine. Very good. Critique on the chowder though, they only gave me half a cup. It was delicious but not very much. The blueberry pie also did not have really any flavor. Boyfriend got the Gulf of Maine Salmon Teriyaki. Not much to report. He liked it. We also got the Geddy's Garden salad to start which I loved since it has mushrooms. I love anything with mushrooms. The ambiance was fun - very touristy but that's what we were looking for as tourists and the lobster was very good as mentioned. Super fresh. Most of our meals were good. I had fish and chips as a 3rd option after our server wouldn't tell me how much the lobster price per pound was and tried to upsell me to the lobster bake which is not what I wanted. I asked how much it was to add the lobster to a BYO pizza. She told me she would just charge me the 43.00 for the lobster, arugula and smoked bacon pizza. Without the extra toppings but pay full price? No way. My son had the seafood pie and it had several shrimps shells in it and was disappointing. Service was good. I got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and the cranberry ketchup (which was amazing) and a blueberry lemonade (which wasn't overly sweet, VERY good!) and my boyfriend got the haddock sandwich & enjoyed! Visited Geddy's on a solo trip to Bar Harbor after visiting their underground shop and hearing great things from the vendor down there about the restaurant. I ordered the mini lobster bake so I could get a taste of everything and was so happy I did so. My favorite part of it was the New England Clam Chowder. Geddy's ambiance was fun and inviting, I went there for lunch but I can imagine a lively and exciting nighttime bar. We made a reservation, but on this particular day, it wasn't needed. We were seated quickly, our waitress was polite. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It's not big, or at least it had a cozy feel. We have a little one year old, and needed a booster seat, but when we set him on the seat, it was slippery wood, no belt, and nothing to keep him from sliding off onto the floor. Not the best design. They did have a kids menu, which was helpful. We ordered a gluten free lobster roll and gluten free pizza. They were ok, but I would never recommend someone go there specifically for the food. We came to Geddy's after a long day of hikes and visiting Bar Island. Our meals were great. I appreciated the numerous gluten free options. They aren't all listed on the menu, but the staff is very knowledgeable so feel free to inquire if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. I had clam chowder as an appetizer and it was a great start to the meal. Warm and hearty. For my entree I had the fish n chips. This was a nice treat since most restaurants don't have a dedicated gluten free fryer or fried gluten free options. It was crisp, flavorful, and the tartar sauce on the side was great. We are here for our last night in Bar Harbor, and the food and vibes were great. If you want to eat here, I would definitely recommend making a reservation. We had a reservation and were seated immediately but there was a line waiting to get a table the entire time. I started my meal getting the blueberry giggle juice. It tasted really good, and I loved all the blueberries in it. To eat, I had to get the mini lobster bake which comes with clam chowder, a lobster roll and a blueberry tart. This is an amazing experience ! We were unable to make a reservation so showed up about 3:30-4pm. We met the manager who introduced himself. I asked about a gluten free menu and he said everything could be made gluten free. I was SO excited because eating pizza was one of my favorite foods and could not imagine doing without it. I had been sick 5 years and just learned I have celiac disease!! We ordered the lobster pizza and enjoyed it so much . Delicious !! Highly recommended. Even the staff there is well educated about gluten .many aren't. The manager I believe said he also had a gluten problem so he educated everyone . I think I got that right . Fun, friendly, and a little eclectic ! Time to enjoy some food ! When you're in bar Harbor, you got to stop off at Geddys, for lunch or dinner. I went for one of my favorites, the Fish And Chips ($23) A full fillet of haddock, breaded and seasoned in Geddys special mixture and Fridd. Also came with fries, coleslaw, and their homemade tartar sauce. All were delicious. This restaurant is definitely kids, friendly, as I did see a server walking around with a live lobster to show the kids. Don't play with your food kids. Funky restaurant with all kinds of things on the walls. There is a large bar in the middle and low and high top tables all around. Our table was next to the serving station which is always a pain. The menu was nice, with obviously more seafood than anything. Our server took our drink orders and the wine was a nice pour. I settled on the salmon teriyaki. Our order came quickly and the salmon looked good. The jasmine rice did not taste like jasmine, but it was ok. The salmon was just ok as it was bland, even with the teriyaki on it. As a gluten free diner on vacation, I had a very satisfying and comfortable experience at Geddy's! We went after whale watching for a late lunch (maybe 2 pm?) and our group of 6 adults and 3 kids was seated quickly. Our server was so welcoming and fun! I love that their kids menu included affordable and healthy snacks/appetizers. I haven't seen that on most menus! Even though the atmosphere is like a kitschy bar, it felt family friendly. They have high chairs, changing tables, and coloring pages. Kids meals are served on frisbees! I had an amazing gluten free beer from a local brewery and the gf fried chicken sandwich. It's incredible how much of their menu can be gluten free! If we had more time, I would have returned for another meal. While the service was good, the food was disappointing. Our group ordered the lobster rolls (warm and cold), the teriyaki salmon, and the haddock. All lacked in flavor. Both were delicious and generously poured. The Seafood Pie is generously served with enough for two hungry adults to share a steak (see below) and not feel hungry. There's no shortage of seafood in this dish. The crab crust turned out to be over the top YUMMM! Pub Sirloin was perfectly prepared and topped Gorgonzola. The garlic mashed potatoes and even the carrot/bean medley (that so often snooze on the plate) completed the flavors and were the best! The flourless chocolate tort (it was half gone before I could snap a pic) was dense with a deep chocolate flavor, not too sweet -- just right. I guarantee you'll want to lick the plate. Me and my family stopped by Geddy's while in town for lunch and loved it! Our server was friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered the bacon jalapeño lobster roll and my boyfriend got the fish and chips and we split both. The lobster roll was really good. The lobster tasted fresh and I liked the bacon and jalapeño flavor that was added with the toppings. It was a nice take on a classic. The fish was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. It had a nice light coating that was seasoned well. My mom also got the mini lobster bake and she really liked it as well! The mini lobster roll was a decent size and it made for the perfect lunch with the chowder and cheese tart. Absolutely one of our favorite places in Bar Harbor. The food at Geddy's is always solid, but the people working here make it 5 stars. We went there each day during our visit, even if it was just for a few cocktails. We sat at the bar and always got amazing service from Bethany and Mike. They were both very friendly and gave us wonderful recommendations of things to do in the area. The steamers and clam chowder were both on point and it makes me miss no longer living on the East Coast.
