My husband and I split the Cap'n Getty's lobster bake and mini lobster bake which gave us plenty of variety and enough delectable lobster for the two of us. The clam chowder was rich & creamy with plenty of clams. The pie that came with the Cap'n Getty's was big enough to split and came with two scoops of ice cream! We tried to get a table for two on a Wednesday night but they were totally booked so we made a reservation for the following night at 7:15. We showed up on time and were asked to wait a few minutes for our table. We were seated right by the door where there were kids literally bouncing off of the waiting bench and a display light was turning on and off every other minute. It was far from a relaxing meal. In addition to the chaotic families around us the TVs at the bar were showing different news channels, with murder stories and debates on the vaccine. This is not what anyone wants to see on the TVs at a bar when they're on vacation. Our server was MIA most of the meal as we watched other tables around us get exemplary service. We ordered a couple of drafts, an appetizer and two entrees. The food looked kind of sloppy but it tasted a lot better than it looked. Bottom line is, I'm not sure why this is seemingly the most popular restaurant in BH. Maybe we were mislead and it's more for families with small children only. We'll probably pass next time we're visiting or consider Geddy's for takeout only. read more

Stopped here the other night for the last night in Maine. There wasn't a wait time but the place was packed. The service was great, and the inside was really nice. We started off with some mussels which were fresh and delicious. Then the main reason I visited was for the lobster roll. It was everything I expected and more, one of the best i've ever had. Okay, so I have been wanting to come in here for years, and on November 30th, 2024, I finally got the chance. I said for a long time: my first time here, I'm going for the fish and chips, and I am glad I did. The fish was in the Goldilocks zone - cooked just right - and the chips (fries) were nothing short of delicious. In between stuffing myself like a hungry walrus and eyeballing all the license plates and nautical decor on the walls (and even the ceiling), I think it's safe to say I found a great new place for lunch. The license plates and the nautical decor on the walls (and ceiling says one thing: this ain't no "Spongebob Squarepants Salty Spitoon". This is no hokey dive bar, people. If anything, the decor only enhances the "wicked good food served here" vibe. Plus, the wait staff are super nice, making you feel like they genuinely appreciate your business. Of course, I had to let the chefs know they did an awesome job before making my way to the gift shop downstairs. I left feeling full and satisfied, like I had stuffed myself like a hungry walrus. They're closed for the season, but they reopen on March 6th of next year. I will make a note of that on next year's calendar, because I definitely want to go back again. read more

My friends whom we met in Newport told us not to miss Geddy's in Bar Harbor. Met some other friends in Bar Harbor and they suggested Geddy's also. I had the Fish & Chips which I highly recommend, they serve Haddock ( VERY LARGE PIECE) with their (F&C), a good white fish and a good substitute for COD. My boyfriend and I went to bar harbor for a few days and saw that Geddy's was a must try on Tiktok. Today we stopped in here for a late lunch, outside it was cold, windy and rainy. However, inside the restaurant great music was playing and it was a good vibe. The GF options were a big surprise and the QR code at the table with nutritional information was an idea more restaurants should copy. It was great information for anyone with food allergies. Caroline, our waitress was very helpful in what our GF and DF options were and we both had the Fish and Chips. The Haddock was very fresh and so nice because we don't eat out very much! We really wanted some Clam Chowder, but unfortunately, it was not a DF recipe. She was very knowledgeable about the local GF IPA's too. As far as cleanliness, in lot of restaurants we go into they clean the tables with a wet rag and who knows what else. Today, the young man cleaning empty tables was using a spray bottle and paper towels. We noticed he was very efficient and his attention to detail was spot on. We stopped in here twice and sat at the bar both times. Michael and our other server were great. Ahi Tuna Fish Tacos were good. The Chicken Sandwich was as well. Beers are expensive, some much nicer places in town are cheaper somehow. They have a great gift shop that we got a few things from as well. Just don't ask for help, the girl told me that the sizes 4-5 on a pair of kids slippers meant it was for a kid 4-5 yrs old. That's not true at all, lol. By that logic, what size shoe is she? This place was very touristy bar feeling and really didn't live up to the hype for us after eating so many excellent meals locally. This was a giant drink, sticky floor kind of vibe which is just what it is as long as you know what you're in for, but I wouldn't recommend for food. I'm not sure why it was recommended for kids other than maybe having a kids menu that was nothing great. When I was researching places to eat Geddys and Side Street Cafe both came up with similar ratings but Side Street is way way better quality food and service. After an exhausting morning of kayaking, my in-laws were happy to find a Bar Harbor restaurant taking reservations so we wouldn't have to wait for a table. This definitely feels like a downtown-y bar that I'd frequent in my college days, complete with neon lighting and drink specials. We were quickly seated at a high top table for six. Our waitress was great, and all the staff members were friendly. Even though it was lunch, I had my eye on a spicy margarita. I love all their twists on the classic cocktails. The margarita was syrupy and not very strong, but I got a sufficient lunchtime buzz nonetheless. Would love to try the volcano bowl if I ever came here again. For actual food, I ordered the Bacon Jalapeño Lobster Roll. After a few days of eating disappointing lobster rolls, I decided to give it one last try. It was a little cheating because I could mostly taste the fresh jalapeños, but I enjoyed the cream sauce. Everyone else at the table seemed to give a three-star reaction to their respective dishes. Overall it's a reliable local restaurant in Bar Harbor with a variety of foods for everyone, from pizza to tacos. Whether you're here for happy hour or ending a night of drinking, Geddy's is a place (despite giving it three stars) I'd likely come back to if I lived in the neighborhood. I'm not one for spontaneity but I must say when it happens sometimes, great memories come out of it! Exhausted, famished, and craving pizza, I scrolled around Google Maps and landed on this spot. Geddy's was extremely crowded during dinner time, with many people coming in without reservations and being told to wait. I ordered 3 pies to go. The Lobster Pizza ($36) was not worth the price given the sparse amount of lobster, but it was still a delicious tame non-tomato pizza. The key point for me was the fresh arugula. The Meat Express Pizza ($20) was like your traditional comfort pizza, with a hotter temperature and just so much more flavor! We couldn't have gotten a more opposing pie duo, and I loved it. Lastly, we had the Blueberry Pie ($7) for dessert, which blueberries are actually quite popular in Maine. Personally, the pie just tasted really sweet to me. Maybe it was because I stuffed the pie in the fridge before eating, but there was a weird after taste. The blueberries also didn't have any flavor except to offer a mushy consistency.
