We were disappointed in this seafood restaurant in downtown Bar Harbor, which served up a generally lackluster menu of options in a crowded, frustratingly loud setting. Aside from lobster and haddock, there's a surprisingly sparse lineup of seafood dishes available, although the menu also includes a selection of salads and fish tacos. My lobster stew was watery and had about half the meat I would've expected, leaving me hungry after spending $18 on my entree. My kids were reasonably pleased with their chicken sandwich and burgers, and my wife's Taco Salad was also decent. The Lobster Bake seems to be their most popular option, but it's a huge dish that's probably best shared. There are also pizzas and burgers, but that's not what we were looking for at a seafood joint. Geddy's has a full bar, with tasty margaritas and a decent selection of craft beers on tap. But we really expected more from one of Maine's most popular seafood restaurants. Tough to recommend, with so many other great choices in Bar Harbor. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Geddy's. After exploring Bar Harbor a but, we got hungry, and Geddy's was not only open, but also had a but of a wait - usually the mark of a good spot. So glad we stopped in here. The decor is kitschy/ beachy which was charming and cozy - lots of nautical-themes things on the walls, along with license plates from the US and Canadian provinces. We sat at the bar where I enjoyed a Sea Dog Brewing blueberry ale which was nice and cold. I didn't want a super heavy lunch so I was happy to see that I had the option for a poke ahi tuna salad. It was just perfect - field greens, rice, thin sticks of cucumber, a nice portion of cubed, raw ahi tuna, avocado, and a gingery sauce. It really hit the spot. The reason I wanted a light lunch is so that I'd have room for blueberry pie! The slice was a nice size and was served with real whipped cream. Bar Harbor during (after??) the COVID pandemic is a place struggling to find good help just like any. Geddy's was the rare place we were able to get good, friendly service to match the inflated tourist pricing on the menu. The food was, you know, not bad. I had the fish and chips which was fresh and tasty. The place was packed but not just super loud which is always a plus. The accomodations are cramped. You have to squeeze through everywhere and the bathrooms are in an inconvenient location. Overall, Geddy's was probably my favorite restaurant of my Bar Harbor experience. Bar Harbor is a fun town, just not a foodie paradise - look for your kicks out on the trails of Acadia National Park and you won't be disappointed. read more

With many cozy restaurants appealing to us up and down Main St. we chose Geddy's because 1) a friend recommended it, 2) it's near the bay, and 3) it's less expensive than Galyn's next door (we haven't eaten there). Our waiter was funny and attentive. We liked seeing the cooks do their thing in the back where we sat at a hightop. NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER: Best we've had since moving to Maine 3 months ago. Strong, savory fish flavors without being too fishy. CLASSIC POUTINE WITH NATIVE CHEDDAR CURD: Respectable fries and savory gravy with cheese curds that made me keep digging for more beyond the point when I should have just stopped. GARDEN SALAD: One of my pet peeves is a house salad on a plate too small and everything falls off while you're cutting too-big lettuce and cucumber pieces and blue cheese dressing drips all over the table. This salad came in a nice asymmetrical bowl with plenty of room for tender greens, sliced black olives, grated carrot, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumbers. Delicious. SAUSAGE & STOUT PIZZA: Brick oven fired, soft crust cooked perfectly, tasty sausage and caramelized onions made each bite a superb mouthful. I've been coming to Maine regularly since 1964 when I lived here for 4 years so I know a bit about good Maine seafood. We're here this time for a memorial service for a friend and we threw caution to the wind and decided to stay in nearby Bar Harbor, a typical tourist town. Instinct told me to seek out an "out of town" restaurant for dinner but after a long drive getting here, we chose Geddy's, a short walk from out hotel. The warning bells went off when at 6pm, we were told they were out of two Maine staples, mussels and steamers but we pressed on. I ordered calamari for a starter and found them to be borderline mushy. For a main course I had the lobster stew. It was tasty but lobster was very sparse for $18. The biggest disappointment was my wife's selection, one of their "Signature Specialties, the Atlantic Seafood Pie at $27. The menu claimed it had haddock, shrimp, scallops, lobster and crab. If it did, there might have been one piece of each at best, all held together in a mush of what we think was an abundance of breadcrumbs that my wife had pushed to the side, so much so that the waitress asked if she wanted a doggie bag. We walked out mostly dissatisfied with our meal and a $100 less in our wallet but hey, it's a tourist town serving tourist food to folks who will probably never be back. read more

So delicious. Server was great. A different servers dropped plates of food in the dining room, I was impressed that all employees nearby immediately jumped in to help her. I came in with no expectations and left with a shirt that says Geddy's. Boy, what an amazing restaurant huh? This place has, no lie, the best clam chowder I've ever had in my life. I ordered the mini lobster bake meal which came with a lobster roll, clam chowder, and a blueberry pastry. It was amazing! However, it was a little bit small and I had just done a big hike so I ordered a second clam chowder to top myself off. My only recommendation is that the servers set your plate in front of you (as opposed to handing it off by reaching across in front of other guests). My girlfriend and I walked into Geddy's after taking a nice walk down the shops in Bar Harbor. We announced our reservation which the OpenTable app took immediately when we did so, and we sat down. We sat down in a cozy little nook in the back near the AC and an open window where the ocean breeze intoxicated us as the wonderful and kind waitresses took our drink order. Rachel likes steamers and she's also going gluten free. The waitress took extra time to point out the menu items that were and were not gluten free. She also was very informative of how many clams came with the steamer appetizer. My steak was cooked to perfection and honestly I felt like I could close my eyes and see the farm it came from. The veggies were tasty and the potatoes were amazing. We left after our meal feeling like a family dinner had just taken place. Geddy's is and will always be a part of our annual stay in Acadia. We both decided on the Lobster Stew and were shocked when two bowls of 'soup' were delivered to our table. The soup was made with cream, watery and barely had any lobster in it. The lobster that was there was very small pieces of shredded meat, certainly not a stew; more like a thin chowder or soup. We were extremely disappointed and spent $20 per bowl. I liked the atmosphere and the decor. But the food was a disappointment. We were there on our honeymoon. They gave us a piece of pie free and that was very nice of them. But the pie was lackluster. Food was OK but not as good as their competitor right around the corner. Better places to eat in Bar Harbor! Service was friendly and efficient. But we made a reservation and still had to wait about a half an hour to be seated. I understand that due to COVID-19 the occupancy requirements were probably 50%. This was the only place in the area that was open April 1st week. We hiked Jordan pond and up to eagle lake view point, and were starving. We were happy that this place was open, and was serving Vegiterian and fresh see food. There were Vegiterian options to choose from. It took 30 minutes for food to arrive, and food was ok(more of a bland side). My friend ordered lobster rolls that had very tiny lobster for a high price, and it was chewy than fresh. So, it wasn't a fresh catch as the waiter sold it to us ! read more
