This was absolutely, by far, one of our favorite places that we visited while in Bar Harbor! The first night we went there after an evening tour (probably arrived around 9:30PM) and we ordered each a drink then the chocolate desert that was absolutely to die for!!! If you like chocolate, get it! The next day we went back for dinner because we were so in love, each ordered a drink (I got the tropical sangria which was delicious) and we ordered the spicy calamari and an order of the fried shrimp entree to share. The spicy calamari had such a unique flavoring to it which was the perfect mix, and the fried shrimp entree had a ginger sauce on the side that we could not get enough of! To top everything off, the atmosphere of the restaurant was so fun and our bartender who helped us during both of our visits, Mike, was such a nice guy!! Even the host did a fabulous job of taking a picture for us. Make sure to check out their gift shop downstairs for super cute souvenirs!!! Totally stop by for a visit!! read more

This cute restaurant is spacious. There is a large bar and plenty of seating. I ordered the lobster roll with a cup of clam chowder. Wylie ordered the baked scrod, which came with mixed veggies and rice. My lobster roll was good, but the freshness of the lobster was somewhat lost in the sea of mayonnaise. The bun is quite large and thick. I only ate about half of the bread. The clam chowder was cooked perfectly. The soup was not too thick and contained large chunks of potato and clams. I did think that the prices were a little high for a such a casual restaurant. Our meal, along with the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu (around $28), was nearly $100. There was a time when we enjoyed Geddy's; the food was good and worth the price, and the service was very good. But unfortunately the last few times we've gotten food there it hasn't been a positive experience. We come to Bar Harbor for an overnight once a year during April break (we are both teachers). Our go to has always been Geddy's. After doing Acadia for the day, we order our food and take it back to the hotel. Like I said, the last couple of years we weren't thrilled, but we decided to give it another try this year. Looked up the menu online, and rather than order online we decided to call because we had some questions about ingredients (bell pepper allergy). The phone message told us we had to either order online or come into the restaurant, we couldn't talk to a person on the phone. Okay, so then I just decide to place my order online. By the time I submitted it the time was 7:46pm, and the online ordering wouldn't go through because the cutoff time for online ordering was 7:45pm. So I end up driving over to Geddy's to place my order as per the phone message instructions. I go in and when I say I want to place an order the person at the hosting station tells me that I need to place my order online. I tell them I tried but the online ordering said it was past the time. She looked confused, and then reluctantly started taking my order off the cuff...didn't offer me a menu, didn't appear to be writing anything down, and clearly not thrilled. When I said I wanted two orders of clam chowder her spirits immediately lifted as she informed me that they were all out of clam chowder because they were so busy; the attitude came across as "we don't have what you want so I don't have to take your order now." When I still wanted to place an order she immediately went back into "not thrilled" attitude. I ordered two fish and chips, and a bowl of lobster stew which she informed me was $25 so I canceled that. I also got two desserts. The bill with tip came to $69.80. The desserts were fine. The fish and chips were practically inedible. The fries were not offensive, but not great. But it was the fish...it had to have been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time. Probably since before we ordered it. It was tough and dry, and big chunks of it were (and I'm not exaggerating) like fish jerky. I've never experienced anything like it. And clearly I couldn't call to complain because the automated phone message won't give you access to a person. And I wasn't about to go back out at 9pm to fight for my right to a decent meal...why should I have to do that? And in Bar Harbor of all places? So, we agreed we were done with Geddy's, which is really too bad. For all appearances it seems to the public like it should be a fun, positive experience. read more

I'm not sure if it is fair to cast aspersions on a restaurant in Bar Harbor for being too touristy, but Geddy's was just that - from the neon lobster claws outside to the gift shop downstairs. I'm not sure we would have ventured inside were it not for the coupons we received for staying at Central House B&B. From the start, the service was a touch... off. Nice enough people, but just... off. And slow. Perhaps I'm too entrenched in my local Midwestern, folksy charm... I know waitstaff the world over doesn't *truly* care how I'm doing or what I'm having for dinner, but you could fake it a little more, no? Or at least bring me my Bar Harbor Bluberry Ale a little more promptly. The menu is predominantly seafood based, but there are a couple other options for those underwhelmed by Atlantic sealife. The most noteworthy thing was how drastically overpriced everything was. For example, a bowl of chowder was $5. Ordered Cadillac margarita while looking at the menu - it came in a giant glass, water down and with a weird aftertaste. Chicken quasadillas were suspicious as chicken tasted almost crunchy and felt like uncooked. Gross. My husband, a group of friends and myself had just gone hiking for the first time on the Cadillac Mountain. My husband and I both had the surf and turf option of steak and lobster. I thought the lobster would be prepared for you, like out of the shell like in most places, but when Ryan came around with the bibs and claw cracker, I knew what was ahead. We got our lobs-tahs and I started at the claws but it was so well cooked that I didn't need the cracker. And the meat inside - melt in your mouth. Yes, Bar Harbor is beautiful. Yes it is a tourist town with lots of tourist trap restaurants. Geddy's was not one of them... Honest, reasonably priced lobster, solid menu, staff and vibe. The "mega pound" place around the corner (Stewmans) was so overpriced it was insulting. To look at someone with a straight face and say that lobster is $27 a pound is a joke. I pay that at high-end DC steakhouses. Geddy's is the spot IMO. Writing this review after a fantastic 2 1/2 pound lobster lunch (properly cracked and split) and will be heading back in a few hours for dinner! We had a lot of Clam Chowder while we were in Bar Harbor, and believe it or not, Geddy's was the best! We stopped in for some "Chowdah" and some nachos which they serve up in a gigantic hubcap stuffed to the brim! They don't skimp on toppings so every chip is covered in deliciousness and it was a perfect snack to hold us over for a late lunch! The store is also one of my favorites in town! We got some cute knick knacks like a little wooden whale to commemorate our time in Bar Harbor and our whale watching adventure that looks cute on our shelf. But, even more importantly, some triple XL shirts! This was the only place in all of Bar Harbor that carried plus sizes and I kept an eye out quite a bit when we were shopping to see if anyone else had some. I was dying to pick up some shirts for my dad to bring back home and was so happy when I saw a pretty broad assortment that went all the way up to 4XL in their store! It's really a bummer when stores don't carry extended sizes for the loved ones in our life that wear those sizes, so thank-you, Geddy's! Your shirts made my dad's day and made him feel included in our vacation even though he hasn't been to Bar Harbor quite yet! Check this lil place out, it's one of the few restaurants that is open year round and their food quality is actually surprisingly great despite being portrayed as pub food. read more

Came here with my boyfriend, sister and her boyfriend while on vacation in Bar Harbor. Yes the decor is loud. Yes the music is loud. Yes the food is just typical pub food. But there were a lot of cute, outstanding qualities about this pub. Service was great, our waiter was very friendly, cool, made me smile (had an accent and was so gracious). There were coloring sheets and crayons for kids and we proceeded to color. Their fries are DELICIOUS -- wonderfully crispy yet soft in the inside. Very much a seafood tourist location. It reminds me of Joe's a little bit. The food is huge and good and the staff are friendly and fast. Its not too hard to get a table because the place is pretyy big but on cruise boat nights it can get a little busy. The lobster is the main attraction but there are other really amazing dishes. When I imagine a stew I envision a hearty meal with lots of vegetables or protein. This one was mostly a bland broth with a few pieces of lobster. I asked the waiter to replace it with clam chowder which he did receive approval for. The chowder was better but still lacked a hearty flavor. We were told that the lobster stew only has 1 ounce of lobster in it after. I appreciate that the restaurant replaced the meal but I hope they will update their recipe. I can't lie. I wanted to go ahead and give this place 5 stars because it gives me warm and fuzzy feelings about my vacation. But if I did that, I suppose I'd be contributing to misleeding the masses. Now, I stayed up in Bar Harbor for a week @ the end of August, and the town was just-right crowded. Not a ridiculous touristy mess, easy parking, but enough people-watching to keep you occupied. We found ourselves here many nights out of 7, mainly because we fell in love with Sea Dog Blueberry Ale, and they serve it here with blueberries in your glass, which pretty much rocks. Plus, its next to one of the many fudge and ice cream joints, which makes for a nice combo after you've been imbibing. Their steamed clams were kick arse, but their lobster roll was sub standard at best. I'd say its an easy way out, reliably "Ok" if you want somewhere centrally located that's easy and will almost always have a table for you. read more

Great food! This place gives you the best bang for your buck. You can get a steamed lobster, corn on the cob, clam chowder, and blueberry pie for $29. The staff is awesome and helped me out when I couldn't figure out how to eat a lobster (hey, I'm from Vegas. At night this place looks pretty! There's a moose on top.. lobster claws lit with Christmas lights.. I think they have one of the cheaper lobster combo specials for dinner than any of the other restaurants in the area~ Mine came with a soup, small lobster and fries, and blueberry pie. Their lobster stew is watery, not much flavor, and there's only a few pieces of lobster meat that are tough- and for the price of $18, it was just way too small of a portion. The lobster roll was tastier, with a twist of jalapeño pepper and bacon, but again, the lobster meat was too tough, and it was $34, pricier than other places we have been to during this trip but not better.
