Smooth, rich and flavorful! I decided to stop here on a whim during a recent trip to Scott's Addition and thank goodness I did! From the outside you really can't tell how cute this little shop is, but upon entering I was immediately captured. The shop has a very simple design with some really unique art pieces for eye candy. There's even a cute little chalkboard wall for kids to leave their mark too. There were a few guests ahead of me but the line went by fairly quick. The staff behind the counter was super friendly and patient,allowing me to ask tons of questions and try probably way too many samples lol. Based on all the flavors I tried I will say they have an awesome variety and there truly is a flavor for everyone. Ultimately I decided to go with a blend of two flavors in a waffle cone. " Just ask" and "don't ask." I would tell you what those are but it would totally ruin the surprise right? If you fall in love with one of their creamy blends (like I did) you can also purchase a pint to take home. They are super generous and really pack that thing to the top! The inside of this fine establishment is a lot larger than I thought it would be from always driving/walking by it. Decided to go in last night and try some gelato on a warm summer night and it did not disappoint! It was fairly crowded with a 3 min wait to order but there was still open seating. The inside is very modern, clean and unique. They have ice cream scoops for decoration, bar top stools, along with tables and chairs for large groups. I decided to get the coconut cream and my girlfriend got the chocolate decadence, both were superb. The coconut cream was "creamy", light, and had bits of coconut in it. The chocolate decadence was rich, a little heavier cream, and great chocolate flavor for chocolate lovers. The cons to this place and why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is as follows. The price, I got 2 scoops of ice cream in a cup and I was charged $4.84. You could buy a whole carton of ice cream for that price! But I get it, we're paying for the gourmet quality they are offering and unique flavors. Still though......pretty much paying $5 for 2 scoops of ice cream in a cup....not even in a cone......a cup. Second, I asked for my ice cream to be in a waffle cone and they were all out. This was around 8 pm and they close at 10 pm. So they still had a couple hours and weren't ready for the crowd on a warm summer night I guess, so I settled for a cup instead. While I was paying, I noticed that you could buy a pint or a quart of ice cream for $6.00. Financially that's a way better move. You get way more ice cream for an extra $1.00-2.00. So next time I'll probably do that. Overall, this is a great place to stop at to cool off and enjoy the best galati Richmond has to offer. read more

In my book, Gelati Celesti has the best ice cream store decor. The mint chair colors, the ice cream scoop art, and the cool temperature tells me "we scream for ice cream!". You can try the flavors and see the different sizes on the counter and menu. The customer service was friendly and they are open to you trying flavors. I tried Just Ask, Vanilla Chip, Coffee Cream, and Cookie Dough. I ended up with the second smallest size of a mixture of Coffee Cream and Cookie Dough. All in all, the texture of the ice cream was odd... It's like a sticky-honey consistency and I don't know if they were trying to do a cross between a gelato and ice cream or is it strictly ice cream? But they are a 3.5 for me and I want to try the other flavors they offer. The flavors were great and I will be returning here for ice cream again! read more

Gelati Celesti's newest location in RVA!! Me and my buddy came here a couple of weekends ago on a Sunday afternoon. He has a huge sweet tooth, I have a huge sweet tooth and we both haven't been to this location yet so it was a no brainer. I swear, Scotts Addition is becoming an awesome neighborhood and this new ice cream place is a great addition. This place is HUGE compared to their original location. Not only do they have window seats facing the Boulevard but they also have a couple of benches and table tops and regular tables as well; this place can easily seat about 50 people. It definitely has the classic industrial look/feel to it and it's very open. Surprisingly enough, the employee here told me that they carry the same amount of flavors as their two other locations, it's just set up differently. I don't remember the flavor that I got but it was a creamy vanilla with pieces of chocolate covered crunch balls. It was very tasty and I would get that again on my next visit. I tried a few other flavors as well and they were happy to give as many samples as you would like. My friend decided to get the Just Ask in a milkshake form and crushed it. It's a nice place for a date, get together or to catch up with a friend. There's a dedicated parking lot in the back but it's shared with a few other businesses. When I was a kid, my parents and I would frequent the West End location, but now that the Scott's Addition location is open, I haven't had to venture too far! My go-to flavors have always been Ukrop's Rainbow Cookie and Just Ask, but I've also tried their other flavors, and they've never ceased to amaze me with what they come up with! With the best waffle cones in Richmond and very generous portions (a small is 2 scoops!)-- GC is one of my favorite spots for ice cream! They have plenty of flavors with many of them being their mainstays with a good number of rotating flavors. They don't really do anything "bizarre" in terms of their flavor offerings, but they do have a great variety to please any type of craving. Despite the name, they don't serve up true "gelato" here but the ice cream itself is very good and is apparently even made on Italian equipment. It is on the thicker side which I prefer, but can get runny pretty quickly so it's best if you eat it quickly. The workers are always really nice and are happy to let you sample away before you settle on your final selection. Their freshly made waffle cone is an extra dollar and it's totally worth the upgrade. I think that the flavor and texture of their waffle cone, which is thicker than most, is why it's my favorite. The waffle cone is also huge and cradles all of your ice cream goodness wonderfully. This location is great for a pre/post-movie snack. Parking can definitely get tricky though when they're really busy but it's worth the effort! read more

They have a clean, modern space with plenty of seating and a ton (20+) of flavors to choose from. Everything our group ordered was good, including the homemade waffle cones. For some reason, my son loves this place. I'm not too impressed with it. They do have a fairly good variety of flavors, but there's nothing special about this place. This has been my favorite ice cream since college. I've been coming to gelati celesti since there was only one location on Broad street near the gym and theater. The texture is thick, flavorful, and unlike anything you have ever had before. They have a constant stock omit creative and top-notch flavors. Just Ask has always been my favorite, followed by salted caramel, chocolate decadence, and peppermint. Every flavor is spectacular, though. You can't pick a bad one! I don't live in the area anymore, and my mom always has several pints waiting for me when I visit home. I've never found an ice cream that lives up to this quality anywhere else. Love it!! read more

Located in Scott's Addition, this industrial ice cream parlor is rich in flavor and space. With over 20 flavors to choose from, you have a difficult decision ahead of you. The small scoops in a cup are generous and the ice cream is decadent. Definitely don't need that much. Loved that they had a free water dispenser that you can access, you don't have to ask for a cup of water. The bathrooms are individual M/F. It is hard to access because it it located right on the street, so park in the back lot or street parking. It was very busy on a Sunday at 7:30pm. They do not accept Apple Pay but fo accept card and cash. The prices are more expensive, $4-5 for a small, but you do get a lot for the money. A good place, definitely would go to again. They also have ice cream pies made that you can pick up. Also premade pints are available. read more

Wow! I am not a huge ice cream lover, but this is one of the best ice cream places I have ever been to and tasted. The ambiance and decor of the place is comfortable and cute, and the ice cream is to-die-for. They even have ice cream cookie sandwiches and pints to go. Best gelato in Richmond, hands down. Love how the storefront is open late for that evening craving. There are no less than 10 flavors available, and there is a respectable number of tables and chairs as well as a bar with stools facing out toward Broad and Norfolk. Recently, I had The Dude which is reminiscent of the character from The Big Lebowski. The flavor was sweet and creamy! I have also had the sweet cream and birthday cake, both of which are so spot on flavor-wise, it is nuts. The salted caramel is my go to, and it never disappoints. The flavors and texture are both consistent. The staff here is also casually cool. I also appreciate how the space isn't overly hot or cold inside, so you can enjoy your gelato comfortably. I really like this little shop. I was in the area and decided to treat myself and the kids. The decor is mostly ice-cream scoops which fits with big open space. There's plenty of seating for you to enjoy your treat and the aroma of the waffle cones. It was a little busy when we first arrived but it was definitely worth the 5 to 10 minute wait. I would say pay the extra $1 for the waffle cone, you won't be disappointed. They offer free samples of their huge variety. I had the cherry vanilla which was very good. I love their ice cream!! They have an amazing variety of favors and I finally got the chance to try their chocolate PB. Even if you are not a huge fan of peanut butter, you will be a fan of this flavor. I am not one for getting PB in my ice cream but after this I am a huge fan. The lines: Last night I went close to closing and was surprised how packed it was for a Monday night. Expect that with warm weather and people being out in the evening the lines will be long. The nice thing is that the lines move really fast. We were able to make it through and try some of their flavors within 5 minutes. Portion: Compared to other places, it's a lot of ice cream for your money. Which is awesome!! And if you love waffle cones, get that nice two scoop and you will be in an ice cream paradise. They will fill up the cone with two good sized scoops. This time I tried the coconut and chocolate PB and for the first time I struggled to finished it. Seating: For the amount of patrons, there was a decent amount of seats available. And people are coming and going so it is really easy to grab a seat. The big plus to Gelati Celesti. If you can't make it out to their shop, they have a truck that I have seen at so many events. This place is great!! The location is perfect on the Boulevard across from Movieland. I tried two different styles today, the Salted Caramel and The Butter Pecan. Their choices almost seem endless so I will be back to try others. Of the two the Salted Pecan was the best. The balance between salt and sweet is perfect, it literally melts in your mouth. That's not to knock on the Butter Pecan though it also was delicious! Everyone working here is as cheery as can be. The decor has been well picked out too, it's fun, but artsy at the same time. My wife and I used to go to the old location for years. It's nice they are in Scotts Addition now. I've liked this place since I first discovered it out in the West End. When I heard they were opening a Scott's store I was overjoyed. It's so cute you guys. The location is great because it's right across from the movie theater and when they have the side area open you can sit, eat your delicious ice cream, and look upon Scott's Addition and the Boulevard. The inside is clean, fresh, and trendy with wide open spaces and marble tables with colorful metal chairs. There are SO many flavor options, and they're really open to letting you try as many as you need to make your decision. Yesterday I tried one called Just Ask, white chocolate, peanut butter , Oreo...where else can you find unique flavors like this? They also have flavor such as Rum Raisin, Cookie Dough, Cake Batter, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Mint Chip, Chocolate...etc. They change up flavors quite a bit so it's always good to have a look at their Facebook where they post those changes. There are a few sizing options, but I usually go with toddler and I find that's just the right portion. It's about three dollars, so that's not a bad deal. They also have pints you can buy if you want to take some deliciousness home. Overall, I'm loving the fact that they opened up close to the Fan area so I can get my ice cream on without driving far away. I'm also proud that this shop has the most beautiful decor. There aren't enough good things to say about Gelati Celesti! The staff are always the perfect combination of efficient and warm and friendly. They are one of the few places that have not only sorbet options but also a dairy free chocolate on tap which is SUPER appreciated! If you haven't had the "Just Ask" don't ask, just order it!
