Our company utilized them again for another Gelato event and it was a splendid success. My last review was for their Fashion Island location. We did a tasting in advance to narrow down our six (6) flavors. Some were more subtle and some more memorable on the nose holes and palate. Flavors we were interested in but were unavailable or not already made that tasting day: Italian cream; peanut butter; panna cotta; toasted almond; strawberry cheesecake Our finalists were: PEACH; ESPRESSO; VANILLA; MANGO; DARK CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT; MINT CHIP The flavors REVEIW: ESPRESSO: -- bolder than a typical coffee ice cream which is milkier, but this is not "blow your hair back" espresso strong -- not too sweet; least sweet of the bunch -- if it had dark chocolate chunks or chips it would be even better -- quite creamy -- the more whipped texture of gelato is growing on me RATING = A DARK CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT: -- I would never order chocolate ice cream as I am a vanilla lover by nature and chocolate ice cream has not appealed to be since I was age 10 -- this is so good with the interest level rising high with the addition of hazelnut -- the chocolate is so rich and deep that this became top 3 for the day -- simply decadent -- creamy goodness -- more nuts would make this even better RATING = A- VANILLA: -- pure vanilla goodness -- only missing Madagascar vanilla bean specks to put this over the top -- creamy -- a little sweeter than the prior two -- milky -- melted quickest of the bunch RATING = B+ MINT CHIP: -- in a nutshell this is like an Andes mint became a Gelato -- great, whipped texture -- stays cold longer than all the rest and maintains texture without melting -- this was my fave of the day RATING = A+ PEACH: -- milky versus icy; tasted milkier creamy than the sorbet I anticipated; tiny taster spoon must have misled me -- not very sorbet like, more like a peach milky creamy ice cream; not a bad thing but not as anticipated -- flavor and sniff lighter than I recalled; seemed more aromatic in the store -- melted quicker than others RATING = B The STAFF are always friendly, accommodating and very professional. read more

Gelato Paradiso, is my family's all-time favorite gelato company. Ninety percent of the time, we frequent the LB location just because it's across the street from the water. A good alternative if you're shopping and don't want to wait 20-30 minutes in a long line at LB, is the NB shop. They're much more accessible now versus their old spot at Fashion Island They essentially have the same flavors, however, they do offer more items here in NB. What you can grab in addition to gelato is an Affogato, which is gelato topped with espresso. A Gelappe, gelato blended with espresso and milk. Shakes which are similar to a Gelappe minus the espresso. Shots of espresso as single or doubles. Favorite flavors for this family: Pistachio Tiramisu Almond Panna Cotta Mango Double chocolate Cookies & cream Hazelnut Strawberry Cheesecake Salted caramel Cookie dough They have a lot of flavors available but these are the ones we've had. Service is pretty fast and friendly. At this location there are plenty of tables with umbrellas right outside the storefront. Now that it's gotten much warmer we are due for some more gelato. I've always loved Gelato Paradiso so I was really happy to see them open a storefront with easy parking in the plaza. Their gelato is very creamy and flavorful and their home made waffle cones make the store smell like heaven. The staff was very nice and let us try several samples. Located in Corona Del Mar Plaza, this gelato shop used to reside nearby in the Fashion Island food court. This location is probably a better fit. I love their high quality gelato and visited recently when in the area. The shop itself is small but they have a good-sized patio to sit and enjoy your purchase. The woman who helped us was quite cheerful. I chose two scoops in a cup - stracciatella and caffe. My wife, who is lactose intolerant, chose a scoop of mango (from four fruity sorbet flavors offered) in a waffle cone. Both of my scoops were very creamy. The stracciatella had lots of little dark chocolate chips within the sweet cream. The caffe had the bold taste of espresso with an occasional chocolate-covered espresso bean. I correctly knew my wife wouldn't be able to finish her cone, part of my master plan all along, so also enjoyed some mango sorbet which was bursting with that fruit's flavor. I decided to stop by and have a valentines treat with my daughter. The atmosphere was welcoming, customer service friendly and the gelato delicious. We chose a mixture of rocky road, coconut and Raspberry concoction of some sort. The flavors were lovely, the texture smooth, and the memory created ; priceless! We are bummed that they moved from the mall location to the plaza, but we will still come here and make the extra trip. Plenty of parking right out front of the store. Dark chocolate hazelnut and pistachio are the best flavors. They also serve up affogato and shakes, which I have yet to try. Service is friendly and they provide samples. Waffle cone plus 2 flavors comes out to a little over $8. That is a STEAL. They also very generously scoop out those scoops. This is enough for 3 people to comfortably share. Pro tip: ask for extra spoons and cups to share. I have tried lots of ice cream shops. Handels is great, Bacio di Latte is good, but Gelato Paradiso beats them all when you stack up quality and price. Be back soon!! read more

Luckily, the line moved pretty quickly. As soon as you walk in, the gelato shop smells absolutely divine! Ok, I hate to do this because it's gelato--how could it go wrong? Well... it did. Is it gelato? Yes. So if you're just looking for a cold treat, it's fine. But I came in hoping for an authentic Italian affogato al caffè con gelato alla vaniglia--a true affogato. What I got was a mediocre, tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream drowned in a cup of coffee. By the time I sat outside, it was basically a tablespoon of ice cream floating in lukewarm coffee. I was really disappointed, especially since they charged over $6 for it. The flavors didn't hit the spot, and I was tempted to toss the rest out after just one bite and a sip. That's why I'm giving it 2 stars. That said, if you're just after gelato, I'd probably give it 3.5 stars--it's decent. The staff was friendly, the shop was clean, but it's just a basic ice cream spot, nothing special. The gelato itself was decent, I've had better. The selection was on the smaller side compared to the other shops I have been to. Now why am I giving this place one star? After we had dinner, we came to this shop a little before closing. It was very nice for the staff to help us and so I gave them a $4 dollar tip for doing so, which was almost the price of one scoop of gelato, which is what I ordered. I asked for a glass of water and they refused, despite the big tip I gave them! It was insulting and I was tempted to ask them to give back the tip. They eagerly answered our questions about the flavors of the month and let us sample the ones we were interested in. I had their new White Chocolate Peppermint flavor this time and it was absolutely TO DIE FOR! My usual go-to is their rocky road so also strongly recommend! I've been to their other locations and so when I heard about their new location in Newport Beach, I had to try it out! We have been going to the Fashion Island location for a very long time and we were given 3 free cups to go to their new location. When we arrived not only did they not transfer all of our points but they had us paid $26.00 for our gelato that was supposed to be "on the house" Very disappointing as we drove completely out of the way to go to their new location. read more
