Venchi is an excellent addition to South Coast Plaza! Both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and with yummy treats. We were shopping one day and walked past this store. Curious to see why the long line, we soon learned it is a new gelato place, but we didn't feel like waiting in line that day. We came back another day on a Thursday evening and there wasn't a line. A staff let us know we can sample a piece of chocolate. It was delicious! So we decided to grab a few pieces to come home with us. Not cheap, but worth every penny. We also popped over to the other side of the store for some gelato. They let you sample some flavors. I got the chocolate and pistachio. I love the texture. It reminds me of a rocky road. My sister and husband both got different flavors too and I got to tried theirs. All were good! We would definitely come back for the gelato when we're at the mall shopping.
Definitely one of the better gelato places in OC! I do like Bacio di Latte at the Irvine Spectrum more, but this place is right there! I like that you order first then you can try samples before choosing. This does help keep the line moving. Don't get discouraged seeing long lines, it's all the people trying samples (I'm guilty of this). All the flavors were super creamy and flavorful! Favorite was the pistachio! Would recommend trying all the flavors, they were all pretty good, it was tough to choose!

This place was delicious! We were looking for a treat after dinner and stopped in for gelato & gourmet chocolate. I got dark chocolate & chocolate cream bites that were AMAZING. My family got different kinds of gelato with chocolate chip bases and loved it! The atmosphere was so fun with the chocolate fountain and all the different chocolate bites to choose from. The staff was super kind and took their time with each customer rather than rushing us even with a longer line making it feel more experiential.
Okay, this is my new favorite chocolate shop at SCP! We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't super busy. I was obsessed with the ambiance and interior. It was so beautiful! As for customer service, Vincent was sooo helpful and friendly! I'm super lactose intolerant and can't have any milk chocolate, and he was so helpful in showing me all of the vegan / plant based / non-dairy options! I ended up getting a few of his suggestions and they were all delicious. You can pick different chocolates and pay based on weight, which is nice. I didn't try the ice cream, because it seems like you have to commit to purchasing before sampling, which was interesting, but maybe next time. Can't wait to go back!

While I'm not a gelato fan, I do enjoy great chocolate. Did I get that? Absolutely!! Their variety of solid and filled chocolates (including "white" chocolate) is amazing. I prefer the solid, so I picked out a variety of wrapped squares. Warning: it's $58.00 per pound ($3.63/oz, which works out to around $1.25 per square. The 100% cacao, 77% cacao, 47% cacao and the raspberry were my choices. There's a reason they put sugar in chocolate, as the 100% was super bitter, with the 77% a bit less so. The 47% was most pleasant to me, not as super sweet as a Hershey Kiss but nicely balanced. The raspberry was in a different category, but it was very, very good! This is not going to be the kind of chocolate you can eat every day, but for a special occasion or treat, it's great!
Although Baccio still holds as my favorite gelato spot in OC, Venchi offers an array of rich and dark chocolate flavors along with a chocolate shop all in one! Out of the flavors I tried, my favorite was the mango! Don't get deterred by the long lines since it moves quick! They also have a system where you choose your cup size and pay before you can sample and pick your flavors, so the line moves quick!
Ooo if you want to give yourself and your wallet a break, touch down here for some gelato. Venchi is located in the South Coast Plaza. When I was there, the line was okay. It was about 4-5 people in front of us but the line moved slow! There were so many delicious flavors and I went with stracciatella. This is good especially upgrading it to gourment. The extra chocolate spread and peanut crunch is so good. It will definitely hit your sweet cravings.
I am obsessed with anything ice cream, gelato or yogurt. While shopping at South Coast Plaza, I couldn't help but notice the almost Disneyland ride like line waiting to get served at Venchi. I kid you not, the line forms around the corner of the store. So when in Rome I decided to wait for gelato. What did stand out was the variety of flavors and the chocolates. My husband and I decided to get the Gourmet option. You pick between spread, Hazelnut Milk Or Hazelnut Dark chocolate, choice of grains and we added the cookie as a topping. The gelato was good but ai was a little underwhelmed considering we waited 20 minutes in line. Gelato 4/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5
When you're in South Coast Plaza and you want something sweet, of course you gotta have Chocolates or ice cream from this store. Well organized and people who works there are nice, but I guess they need to be a little more friendlier than being so serious.
Venchi is a premium Italian chocolatier with tons of appetizing chocolate; however, the line around the store is for their gelatos and sorbetto, which are delicious. My wife and I shared stracciatella and cappuccino gelatos and we bought a few of their chocolate truffles. If you have a nut allergy, then this is probably not the place for you, as many of their premium gelatos and chocolates have nuts. Cost for truffles are upwards of $15 for a quarter pound. Prices are high; however, the quality is undeniable. Aside from gelato and chocolate, you could also get chocolate and nut pastes (such as hazelnut cream and the pistachio cream that you need for Dubai Chocolates). They have lots of classy, stocking-stuffer gift ideas if you want chocolate that's an upgrade from Sees. If you want chocolate, note that you don't need to wait in the long line outside of the store. You also may be able to order gelato along with your order of chocolate. On a hot day, I definitely would love their fruit sorbets. It's a good addition to South Coast Plaza and it's a good place to check out if you want something sweet after a meal.
Went to try out this new Gelato shop in South Coast after browsing the Cartier boutique. Heard some good things about it so we had to see the what's the hype. When you enter in, you can see that cool chocolate fountain with their signature logo, lots of candy and chocolate barks on display and their selection of various flavors of gelato. Seating is pretty tight and limited. The lady who served us was very patient and let us sample multiple flavors. I ended up getting Tiramisu and NOUGATINE and my girl got their famous Green Pistachio. Flavor profile was good and it came with this small toasted bread. Wasn't too sweet, just right. Two regular cups was like $17 total. Pretty expensive for the portion, but quality was pretty good. TBH though, I prefer Baccio di Latte in Newport!

I had my first experience trying Venchi chocolate at their Rome airport store and it was incredible. So having a store in Orange County was very exciting! The chocolate is gluten free and top tier quality. A huge selection of wrapped bars, small bites and also whole pieces that you can have broken off and pay by the weight. The gelato is the best you will find and it's the same as being at their stores in Italy. It needs to be on everyones bucket list! We got a small container of half pistachio and half hazelnut to take home. Just a tip, I had a lunchbox size cooler in the car on this hot summer day for the gelato and chocolate bars. The gelato containers are insulated, but even better to have it near ice on a 90 degree day. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Khao is always my favorite there. He is so kind, patient with my questions and is knowledgeable about the different children chocolate and gelato flavors. Excellent customer service Khao! It is right across from the carousel on the first floor, so great to have a candy or gelato treat for families too. read more

Hands down the BEST pistachio gelato I've ever had! The pistachio gelato (solid 10/10) was creamy, nutty and had actual real pistachio pieces inside. Wasn't overly sweet either, which is a winner for me. I got the one flavor option and the staff packed the gelato in so well! It was definitely worth the price point. Comes with a complimentary piece of chocolate on top. Staff was super nice and allowed you to try the flavors before purchasing. This is located inside South Coast Plaza and seems to always have a line. Suggest going on weekdays when crowds are less crazy. read more
We saw a longgggggggg line out the door and decided to stand in it. They had the logistics thought out where you pick the cup size and pay at door before heading over to the fridge. But trick is you can just walk to middle of the store to purchase some chocolates then slide over to the gelato line bypassing the 30 people in front of you. Anything pistachio is super yummy here. They're on the sweeter side though. We went with the baby cup and the portion came out to be adult size lol. As far as chocolates go we still think Laderach ftw. read more

The store is sooo gorgeous. Half is a candy shop and the other half is a gelataria. The staff is super friendly and I loved that you could pick the flavor of the chocolate sample yourself! My mom and I shared a small sized scoop of the Bacio di Dama - such a great hazelnut flavor with an incredible creamy texture :) Would definitely come here again to try other flavors. One of the best chocolate and gelato places I've ever been to! It is expensive, but everything is so worth it. The chocolate is so rich but also not too sweet. The pistachio gelato tastes like real pistachio, and the texture is perfect. Everyone working in the store is super nice. Love the bright lights and beautiful decorations in the store. This place is a must-try if you're in South Coast Plaza! read more
The amount of times I CRAVE Venchi gelato because it is just so delicious is ridiculous. I love coming to Venchi's and getting their gelato + trying their chocolates. All their gelato is fresh and flavorful. It's so creamy and I don't feel gross or overstuffed after eating it. The store itself is a little small and can get packed super quickly. The gelato price is a little more expensive. I got the regular so I can choose two flavors and it was a little more than $8.00 if you want the chocolate coating on the cup and fillings that's an additional cost. I think the gelato is delicious as is that it doesn't need all the extras. read more

I love venchi!! We first had venchi over in Italy and so when I heard venchi was coming to south coast plaza, I was super excited! They have really good chocolates and gelato. My favorite is the mango gelato and cremino. Cremino has hazelnut if you're a huge hazelnut lover. This location is pretty busy and there's always a line, but they're very fast and efficient. They are so organized. I've been here a hand full of times and it never disappoints. They have a rewards program now! You get discounts and specials deals. Highly recommend for dessert! read more

First time here! There was a wait time to order ice cream, which was nice. I went with the two-scoop option and chose mango and raspberry; both were delicious. The service was pretty good, and I appreciated being able to sample a few gelato flavors. It was a little busy, so ordering felt a little rushed, but overall the experience was positive. I also really liked the décor--it feels very intentional and thoughtfully put together. I was excited to see they sell chocolate bark, but I had already picked some up at Läderach beforehand. Otherwise, I definitely would have tried it here. I will definitely return to try. read more
I tried Venchi for the first time ever back in 2024 when they opened a location at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara, CA. Was pleasantly surprised to find that a location finally opened closer to me in Orange County AND that there was virtually no line. I think we waited at least an hour and half at for the other location, so I was so relieved that not only were we in and out of their line, but we even had places to sit inside!!!! The bar is in hell, lolol. What we ordered: - small-sized gelato with Pistachio Kunafa Delight flavor plus chocolate caramelized hazelnut spread - regular-sized gelato with Tiramisu and Baciodidama flavors plus regular chocolate hazelnut spread (this was my order) I wish my friend got the green pistachio from bronte flavor because the regular sized cup only came with two flavors, but he's a clout chaser and wanted their Dubai chocolate-inspired gelato, lmaoooo. It was good, don't get me wrong. I just feel like you gotta pay respects to the OGs (pure pistachio). I also don't think us adding the chocolate spread to our cup was the best idea either. It was a big back option we had to try, and it will definitely be a one time thing. Made the dessert 10x more sweet than necessary, but to each their own. read more

I got pistachio and some cookies and cream flavor. both were good but were they so good that I'd would come back and pay over $7 for small cup of ice cream? probably not. ice cream isn't cheap these days but for $7, many places will give twice the amount that I got from here. read more

Y'all this was about to be a 4 maybe 5 star review after my first visit but I just went back tonight and had a pretty subpar experience. The first time I came in there was no line for the gelato or the chocolate and the sales staff told us that if there ever is a line in the future for the gelato, we can skip it if we come in to buy chocolates. Okay! Love a pro tip. And I get chocolate. Win-win. Or so I thought. Cut to tonight, there's a loooong line of folks waiting to sample the gelato (and it is delicious btw, I had a scoop of the Baciodidama last time and omg). I bypass the queue, ready to employ my trick of heading straight to the chocolate counter. The staff says someone will be with me shortly and I head over the start perusing. A few minutes later, no one has come over (and, it's a small store, there's not that much to peruse). I wait a full 20 minutes before I'm finally able to checkout. It honestly would have been faster to just get in the gelato line. I hope they figure things out here because 5 people scooping and no one at the chocolate counter is just not working. Chocolate is solid, honestly. I might come back if there's no line. read more
Gelato and another chocolatier store at SCP. If you're interesting in purchasing their desserts, then you must line up at the first cashier upon entering. The line will continue outside the store. After purchasing the gelato cup or cone, then you can sample it. They had a couple of sorbets and authentic options. They had a lot of varieties of the same thing. Like a hazelnut flavor then a hazelnut with chocolate. I got the tiramisu and raspberry. My boyfriend said the raspberry tasted exactly like Talenti. The tiramisu flavor was delicious! It is really busy so the indoor seating and small tables are a bit sticky. They also sell chocolate truffles and have some samples available. I looked into the dark chocolate bars and it doesn't state whether if it's direct or fair trade. The prices are steep and I expect their chocolate to be ethically sourced. read more
Loved Venchi in Italy so it was natural I wanted to check this place out since they opened at my favorite shopping plaza. I came here on Valentine's day with one other person for a sweet treat. The line was pleasantly not too long but people were confused. They have a line for gelato getters and those just shopping can just enter. For those getting gelato they take your order before entering. You choose your size and dip and you pick your flavor once you are in. While you are in you can sample. I was annoyed at the Asian guy working behind the counter because I asked for one sample and pointed at it. He gave me a sample of something totally off. He scooped a random gelato that was way far from what I pointed at. Everyone working there was also not friendly and unpleasant. I know they are dealing with high volume but it seemed like they all hated their job and didn't want to help anyone but just quickly get through. Gelato also wasn't as good as I remembered. The two flavors I got was runny and consistency wasn't better than any other gelato places I've been to locally. They also ran out of some flavors. Sadly not worth the wait in line. Maybe once the hype has died down and the workers are more pleasant I'll be back. Not sure if I'd be back for their actual chocolate since there are other chocolate options in the plaza. read more

The gelato is delicious, but the customer service was so disappointing that I won't be coming back. First, the ordering process is confusing. You're expected to choose and pay for your size before you even know what flavors you want, and the menu isn't even visible until the end of the line. Its so small. It should be displayed at the entrance or above the registers especially when expected to pay at the entrance. What really frustrated me was the service. I'm pregnant and simply asked which flavor had the least sugar so I could make a more informed choice. Instead of helping, the employee told me to scan a QR code that opened a 112-page nutrition PDF. In a packed store with a line behind you--and while trying to manage a toddler--it's unrealistic to expect customers to scroll through over 100 pages just to find the sugar content of one flavor. When I was still trying to figure it out, the employee immediately offered me a refund instead of answering a simple question or helping me find the information. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. People ask about nutrition facts all the time, whether it's because of pregnancy, allergies, diabetes, or simply wanting to make a healthier choice. The interaction made me feel completely unwelcome, and I ended up having my husband order while I waited outside. The gelato itself is excellent, but customer service matters too. I hope management improves the ordering process and trains employees to be more patient and helpful. read more

Cute boutique gelatoria. With Italian music playing in the background and the bright and lovely decor, one can't help but feel antsy to eat gelato! There are a few fruity flavors like strawberry, raspberry, lemon, and mango. I opted for a cup of cappuccino and tiramisu/matcha blend. All of it was so good. Not just because I was in the mood for it, but the flavors were strong without tasting chemically. The texture of the gelato was so smooth and creamy. The tiramisu has bits of chocolate with a light mascarpone flavor. The matcha tasted perfect- not too sweet or earthy. The cappuccino was delicious and the right blend of espresso flavor without making the coffee flavor overpowering. I didn't get a chance to try the chocolates but will plan for another trip to purchase these perfectly wrapped, handmade artisanal chocolates from Italy. read more
Lines are always crazy here when I come to shop at South Coast. Saw a shorter line and took my chance! Heard lots of great things about this place and even standing in line! I had to get the regular size to try 2 flavors! They're super nice and let you try all the flavors you want. The chocolate is super rice and creamy. You can really taste the quality! Had to get the Cremino and I had to get the pistachio but all are so good! I'm definitely coming back to try more flavors and also so many choices for chocolate pieces. Must try next time also! They had a few tables inside to enjoy but always super packed so good luck! read more
Great addition to south coast plaza. Very beautiful and luxurious. The staff is very friendly and patient as we taste and decide on what flavor we want. Their gelato is really yummy and flavors are strong and high quality. It's kinda odd they don't have cones though. read more

I was shopping at South Coast Plaza when the bright lights and a bevy of gelato scoops in cones displayed caught my attention. I'm so happy I walked in and ordered their Affogato Gourmet. I got mine with caramel gelato. It was so creamy and authentic, as if I was back in Italy. It also came with chocolate hazelnut, nuts, and whip cream. Talk about decadence! It was so heavenly and the perfect pick-me-up. The service was wonderful as well. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Love that southcoast finally got a gelato spot. Lines are pretty long. Giving it 4 stars due to lack of efficiency to manage large crowds. At times the staff member who was helping me with samples would end up serving another customer and it was a bit chaotic. Outside of that, it's a good spot if you enjoy have chocolate in your cup vs a cone. Loved the pistachio flavor. Outside of gelato there were cute options for customized chocolate boxes. Looks like a great gift idea. read more
Absolutely love the interior design of this place. Super artistic, trending, vibey, and just aesthetically on point. This is located in South Coast Mall so plenty of parking inside. The staff were super friendly and hep provided recommendations when needed. Haven't tried the chocolates but tried the following gelato flavors: - Matcha & Vanilla - Hazelnut & Cappuccino All the flavors were good! Definitely can taste the earthy matcha flavor and I think my next favorite would be the hazelnut. Would want you to come back again to try more flavors and the chocolate! read more
This place I believe is fairly new and extremely cool and fun. My friend actually picked out several things and we had a nice little grab bag of chocolates and a caramel gelato. They have a sign up like near where a menu would be and its flowing chocolate and they had a wonderful guy helping everyone around the chocolate area. It was quite an experience. We walked around South Coast Plaza eating chocolates at noon. It was very fun, very tasty and rich. We will definitely be going back. Shopping around South Coast ,saw a crazy long line of this Venchi People talks great about their Gelato ice cream. I'm here right the front of their shop so follow the line to grab a cup of ice cream , enjoyed it (so smooth & creamy , perfect sweet enough) The workers are friendly, nicely here. read more

I literally shed a tear when I saw Venchi open up at South Coast. I ate Venchi 1-3x a day in Italy and have missed it sooooo much. The gelato is truly supreme. Their chocolate is heavenly. Their service is top tier. Gelato- 100/10. So rich, creamy, and delicious. They have great rich flavors that are amazing. On this trip, we got matcha (SO GOOD) and caramel. All were amazing. We also paid the $2.50 to line the inside of the cup with chocolate&chocolate chips, which made it even better. Store- They literally have a chocolate water fountain as their sign. It's so cool. The windows are nicely decorated, the wall paper is pretty, and there's plenty of seating inside. It's very clean and beautiful inside. It's also right by the carousel and in the center of the main area. Service- everyone is so sweet and helpful. They were kind in offering samples and helping us with our order. Extras- We went at 4pm on a Monday and there was no line and plenty of seating. I've seen the line wrap around on weekends. Depending on when you go, it can be pretty busy, but honestly so worth it! read more
Visited Venchi on a weekday, to avoid the long line. They have three different sizes - baby ($7.45 for one flavor), regular ($8.25 - up to two flavors) and large ($9.45 - up to three flavors). I wanted a couple of flavors and ordered the regular, which is on the pricey side. Unfortunately they do not offer cones. Got the Chocoviar and the Cremino. The Chocoviar is very chocolatey and not as sweet. Enjoyed my gelato at one of their tables inside the shop. They also sell chocolates, which are expensive. I already blew my budget on gelato, so I didn't buy any chocolates. Maybe next time! read more
