Sunday 3/1/2020 at 4:45 pm I had walked in to Gelsons, wanting to get a slice of pizza. There was a lady who ethnicity was either Polynesian or African American I could quite catch her name. I had asked her kindly what restaurant was next door to Gelson. Her response was I dont know not professional, very rude, lots of attitude. The gentleman next to her looked at us as if we were stupid. I went ahead and order a slice of pepperoni pizza, out of an entire pizza she gives me the most burnt slice on there. I come and shop here at Gelsons all the time, and never once had an employee treat me like this. Almost every employee knows me by first name, she must be new. I am hoping Gelsons will take care of this very rude, unprofessional employee. read more

Every once in a while a company will get it right. Everything they sell here is available at other grocery stores but it's not displayed, it's not prepared and it's not offered to the customer like it is here at GELSON's. From fresh homemade pizza, sushi, a cold refreshing glass of wine to a bag of delicious Popcornopolis buttered gourmet popcorn, this place has everything. The fruits and vegetables look as fresh as they could be. The aisles are clean, the floors are clean and the restrooms are clean. This is the best store I have visited is a long time. read more

Clean. But there's no WiFi. Called ahead to check and there are WiFi signs everywhere. I bought a meal and sat down to do some research and the WiFi does not work. When I asked a worker how to get on, he just looked at me and said it doesn't work. Bad customer service and false advertising. read more

Best bread in the area. Only place I can get get the pretzel rolls that taste fresh. Probably a slightly better buffet than Whole Foods. Beer section isn't at the level i was expecting. read more

I usually don't write bad reviews, but I just have to this time. This is regarding their hot food counter. The lady who helped me was very nice, but food I got was just awful. I ordered bbq pork ribs to go. They are expensive because obviously they're pretty heavy. I got home to eat them and discovered that 50 precent of meat on them is just disgusting fat. It was all covered with bbq sauce so I couldn't tell until I started eating them. If I wasn't so tired I'd probably would got back to the store and demanded a refund, but I was, and didn't feel like making that trip. Instead I just threw them away read more

After a lot of controversy over the closing of the local Albertsons (which has been in that spot since it was Lucky before) and the particular closing of the Long Beach classic called Hof's Hut, Gelson's is now open here. The space is modern and posh. The cafe is on the second floor and has a great view of the marina. It's a normal Gelson's to me but it's a great improvement from the past. I was sorry to see Hof's Hut go, but glad to see this area of Long Beach get new developments. In with the new. Out of the old. CVS and Lucille's should be opening soon in the same complex. read more

Very dissatisfied with my shopping trip to Gelsons tonight. I paid good money for spoiled products...the prices have also increased no wonder the store was almost empty...this was at Marina Pacifica in Long Beach...what a shame..it used to be my go to place to treat myself..now it's a depressing place to shop. read more

Gelson's is not just a grocery store--it's an experience. Here's why: 1) The rooftop deck on top of the store where you can hang out and eat your food from the deli (Don't think you have one of those, Ralph's) 2) Extremely friendly and helpful staff who seem to actually enjoy their jobs 3) Delicious chicken skewers at the meat/seafood counter 4) Quality produce and exotic fruits (holding pinky out as I type) Gelson's is my favorite grocery store in Long Beach. Best Grocery Store Experience to Date Wow the place is great like an updated Whole Foods but cheaper and their SALAD BAR is AMAZING. Everything you could want seriously. The Meat Section WAS TOP NOTCH! The employees must be getting drugged or paid really well because they are ESPECIALLY HELPFUL. BEER Selection was GREAT...IPA's are on the back wall. Celebrating the Holidays and being able to be with friends for the Huntington Beach Boat Parade I stopped at Gelson's to pick up some pastries and fresh bread for tonight. There were three young women working the bakery and I asked if they had fresh breads, the one girl plopped a loaf of bread with raisins on the counter not saying anything. I asked do you have other breads and she said very curtly states aisle one! I decided to get the pastries and after that would take a look at the bread selection. I started the order and said I'll take two eclairs and she just stood there looking into LaLa land! I asked if she was going to wait on me and she said yes, as she slowly moved towards the pastry boxes! I felt like I was putting her out by asking her to assist me so I left and went to Sweet Jill's Bakery on Main and they were amazing! Pastries for twenty-four complete! Don't need to waste my time at Gelson's again! read more

The local is beautiful & the store is beautifully arranged and organized. Customer service is some of the WORST I have experienced. The prices are roughly 10% higher than other area markets. Typically, the staff are unfriendly & it appears to be too much trouble for them to assist anyone. There is rarely more than one checkout line open. Today, many shoppers, one checkout, & two managers just standing around talking to one another. read more

Just returned from the Long Beach store and was delighted to see that they had my favorite salad - Grilled Artichoke. It is the BEST salad I've ever had, and generally it is only available in the summertime. Keep up the good work, I think this is a plus having it in the winter also. Thank you. I am used to good service at other Gelson's Markets. The service here was not good and I felt that they took their time to help me and when they did they got things wrong. I had to wait at the deli counter 3 separate times before being served. I should have walked away after the first two times I waited. It wasn't busy any of the times I waited and the deli staff was standing to the side having fun amongst themselves. I told the assistant manager all about my experience and she told me twice that the person who helped me could've done things the way I requested. However, she did NOTHING to make things right. Great service and they have some of my favorite things on hand at all times. Those lobster rolls are pretty good too! A little pricey but worth it. They also have some very nice interesting fancy little desserts. I do agree that the store is kind of empty most times I go but I do like the simplicity of being able to run in and out quickly without lines and such. The service deli is good sometimes the wait staff are little tiny bit stuffy but maybe they were having a bad day the times I've gone. The fish counter is great. Shopping for dinner tonight with my mom Great produce, inventory and such, bakery employees were on point. Everything was enjoyable until getting up to the cashier, her name was Carol by the way and she didn't say hello or anything. Purchasing 10-15 groceries and a bottle of wine. I was behind my mother when she asked for an ID and not your basic "ID PLEASE" it was more like "ID" the only words to come out of her mouth and she asked for my ID not my moms when it was obvious my mother was paying for groceries etc. I wasn't even in the picture when rolling up to the check out. It was obvious as well that she just wanted to make a point... With her sturdy duty as a cashier in a supermarket Anyways my mother said No I am paying for it its my wine, I proceeded to be like No let me get my ID so we can go home. I am 21 exactly and left my wallet outside all the way in the back parking and she wouldn't keep going meaning keep ringing the items while I agreed on going to get my ID. I come back and he lady didn't even ring the items in our basket. . . When she could of kept ringing she stood there like a BEE. My point is don't get ur panties in a wad your a freaking cashier at a super market CAROL. read more

Gelson's is an overpriced Albertsons. I went on opening day and don't get me wrong the service was exceptional, but I am not too impressed with their products. There is nothing super fresh or fantastic about this place. They have a good selection of hot food, as well as cold, but it is overpriced for what it is. You could easily visit Whole Foods or Lazy Acres and get cheaper and healthier food that supports local farmers and promotes a healthier lifestyle. If you want to get Albertsons products and pay more than go to Gelsons. It is kinda or snobby in my opinion. read more

For years Bob's Market in Santa Monica was my go-to spot for a great sandwich made EXACTLY how I want it using top-quality ingredients. When I moved to Long Beach I was thrilled to try out the new places but every now and then I'd crave and even miss the places I grew up going to. Now, I have a great deli nearby (also Boar's Head cheeses) and it's Gelson's. It's not exactly the ma & pa grocery deli I'm used to but they have an extensive selection of sides, a wine bar, salad bar, an upstairs patio, and tons of parking so this corporate thing really has its advantages. The employees (especially at the deli) are funny, friendly, and welcoming. As for the grocery store, it's clean, well stocked, and they've got cheese. All kinds, lots of it. Mmmm. Cheese. read more

I went in the store with my partner, both of is very excited to see all the goodies they had in store. 1st stop PIZzA!! Which was just as amazing as the team member that served us. We walked the entire store checking out all the unique and specialty items they had to offer.......only to notice a youngish, tall white male following us in every aisle. By the time we got to produce and floral my partner was really irrated and ready to check out. While waiting in the line the same man, who was an assistant store manager came to a line to check what we have put on the conveyor belt. My partner turned around and asked him if we did something wrong and what was the reason that he followed us up and down each and every aisle he explained to him that he felt very disrespected that he lost to potentially loyal customers and we will never be back again. read more

This was my first time shopping here. It was a very enjoyable experience during this time of COVID-19 madness. They had all name brand items, Bounty, Charmin, Dasani. An employee was monitoring the toilet tissue to ensure no one was hoarding. They even had cooked breakfast food as well as cooked chicken, ribs and other goodies, even though it was 7am. The store was clean and the staff was extremely friendly, especially Rudy, the cashier and Natalie, the bagger. The only negative is that the prices are a little high but worth the experience. I heard of the high quality standards of Gelson and couldn't wait to try this place. The reason they are high is due to the so called organic quality of their products. I thought the produce at Sprouts were superior and cheaper and the meats looked much better at Ralphs. If you want to pretend that you are high class snob, then come here to pay for their overpriced products. Not sure what happened?! I visit this location regularly and have always had wonderful service and wonderful products. Went on Sunday and got two corn dogs that were so greasy I wrapped them in eight napkins each and they were still greasy! Got some coffee from Renauds, my husbands Americano tasted just like water with a small hint of coffee and my blended drink had no flavor. We got some Macarons and asked them to change a flavor and the guy was getting ready to throw out the ones we wanted to exchange. That seems incredibly wasteful. We kept the ones we didn't want just to keep them from going into the trash. read more

Honesty is my policy.. So I'm not going to lie and say that I venture to this market for great prices , nor can I suggest going here for a huge selection of fresh produce...BUT, I can gladly tell you, that I love stopping at this market because of the impeccable customer service! Always genuinely friendly, thoughtful and very helpful. Another bonus is the prepared foods area with mini bar, coffee bar and Wolfgang Puck express station. Good selection on all your other market needs, but the prices are a bit higher than the other 3 grocery stores in the area. If I was just rating the customer service and cleanliness of this store it'd be 5 stars for sure! Much love to every amazing employee there.. U always bring a smile to my face read more

Loved this market!! Great service clean and so much to see and taste. Ready made specialty for a bit in the pricey side but worth it. It's a specialty market so understand they have things you won't find at Ralph's or Vons or even Costco. But expand those taste buds and venture out to Gleson's, you won't regret it!! read more

Gelson's is over priced. One can find the same items elsewhere cheaper. Trader Joes down the street is a good option. Lazy Acres is another good choice. I have to say though, Gelsons roasted chicken it the best and a reason to shop there - just don't buy the rest of your groceries there unless you want to waste your money. read more

Im obsessed with the turkey meatball soup from the deli here. Its perfectly zesty and has a kick to it! They have bread rolls you can buy on the side for like $1-$2 but they should be free IMO since the soups are not the cheapest...but the meatball soup is worth it. Unfortunately its not available everyday but Gelsons please change this!!! I also love the cotton candy grapes but they are pretty expensive for grapes lol. read more
