I've been coming here for many many years. There is free, easy parking on the street in front or at the Jack-in-the-Box next-door. It is a very large store with a humongous selection of alcohol, from luxury Scotch, Wines under $10, tall cans of Hard Seltzers etc. They could have a bigger variety of seltzer. I usually get shooters, and I love that they have a wide variety of single cans of various mixed cocktails in a can They also could benefit from having a lot more selection of chips. When we first walked in, we were the only ones there and one man stocking a refrigerator. We waited at the sandwich counter for him, when he arrived and simply said, "sandwich?" We ordered the special, just one guy, he had to stop making our sandwich to ring up other customers. While I was waiting I walked around the store to take a look, although they offer a large selection of different wines and liquor, everything in the store was hidden under a deep layer of dust, the more I looked around the less confidence I had in what I had just ordered. The potato and macaroni salad were clearly being served from a large premade container. I started to feel uncomfortable and unsure of what I was about to eat. We got our sandwich a bag of chips $19 and headed out. We each had one potato chip, looked at each other and spit it out. Stale chips. The sandwich unfortunately didn't look like it was any better, I took one bite, and threw the rest away. Even my 1 star is too generous. Please don't make the mistake of coming here. I've never had a nasty sandwich before until today. Well this was one of the WORST sandwiches I've ever had. Honestly how hard is it to make a veggie sandwich. They forgot the avocado and the bell peppers. And instead they added pickles. The bread tasted old and the mayo tasted rancid. I ordered thru a delivery app so luckily they will refund my money. Wow, what a disappointment. Been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally was able to convince my beautiful girlfriend to indulge here for our Saturday Lunch. Well, long story short, I don't get to pick the lunch spots anymore. Which sucks, but I get it and don't blame her because this place absolutely sucked. From the moment we walked in, it felt off. Nobody in there, and everything looks old and dusty. The guy working (dark hair, beard and foreign) was NOT happy that we were there for sandwiches. Almost gave a sign/groan like ugh dammit, you sure you want one? Really didn't like that. Guy went ahead and made our sandwiches. Selection of meats and cheeses was extremely poor. Sandwiches sound so good in the description, and you get to also chose your cheese type. Welp, he didn't do that. Just went and made the sandwiches. We asked a few questions about the sandwiches and he wouldn't even respond. Pure mute the entire time. Then when I paid, there was no "thank you", just handed me my change (which I almost felt like he wanted a tip and was awkwardly handing it back to me). It was $37 for two small sandwiches, no sides (which he was supposed to add in) and a complete rip off. We tried the sandwiches and wow, they were like eating an old sandwich that has been left out for 4 days. Bread was hard, dry and chewy. Absolutely no dressing or condiments on there. And very minimal meat. Check out the picture of how much bacon and what kind he put on it! Literally bacon bits!! We actually had to save a half, go home and put mayonnaise and mustard on it. Unreal. These sandwiches absolutely SUCKED! I was and still am very disappointed and will never be going back. Sucks because I was stoked to go. Oh well, live and learn. Also, if you're just buying singles without marked pricing you'll probably be wayyy overcharged -- $6.00 for a single, 12oz, two-year old tequila & soda cutwater?!? Just now I noticed that even the pack of Trident gum I bought expires in five days, yes, a pack of gum. Don't come here. I made a mistake of letting this guy know, who looks like the owner, that my family will be hungry after a swim. Ordered three large sandwiches. Pastrami. Turkey and roast beef. The menu said a certain price which individually would be less than $10 each. When I got to the counter his punches on the cash register, it totaled $44 + to my surprise. He said the sandwiches were more than $12 each. That is still just $36 right? Didn't want to argue anymore and wanted to get the H... out of there since it was clear he was unscrupulous. Besides the overcharges, I waited a long time for the place to make the sandwiches. The owner had to wait for his Helper to arrive before rhe sandwiches were made. Not only did I wait a long time, got overcharged, the sandwiches were sloppily made. Nothing special at all with this deli sandwich place. It was pleasant to spend a good 15 minutes talking with Alan (the owner) about European and American wines. Boy, oh boy...is it nice to have a local shop (support local!) that offers great fine wines which are most likely not available at shopping center anchor stores. Currently with my champagne taste and beer budget, I went for the "frugal" choice of wine. But nevertheless, I did get persuaded to try a Burgundy, where as normally, I lean towards Bordeaux's (thanks to my great aunt Isabel). Variety is the spice of life! I use to come here all the time Maybe 6-7 years ago. This use to be the spot for a great sandwhich and some yummy sides. It's been that long since I have been here. We were hungry and I was telling my boyfriend how it's been years but I'm sure they are still Good! Well Nope! That train has left and I am sad! We both got the classic Italian and nothing really exciting about the sandwhich but the bread smh! I think I would have been better off making it at home. Not a fan of iceberg lettuce in my sandwhich. I mean it just was a plain sandwhich nothing special. What's really not good is the boxed potatoe salad it came with. I took one bite and I had to split it out. As you can see in the pictures. "Sorry" but yeah I would have been better off getting the sandwhich next door from Vons. ABC my suggestion, care more for the deli. Add spinach or mixed green option for the sandwhich. Cute your tomatos and onion with care not like it's being made by a 5 year old. And Please make the sides from scratch! It's super easy and yummy. And if you plan on using packaged sides put it in the back.. it's a super turn off to see a big box in the fridge with a scoop coming out. I take my food seriously as you can tell. I agree with what the other reviewer said they do have a nice variety... surprisingly so. As my friend is getting used to his new area we went in search of a "nice" liquor store and was referred here by the Dude that works at the "Secret Spot" in Huntington Beach. *BTW have I mention that is a MOST excellent place for all things YUMMY? =] Anyhoo so we took the drive down PCH cut over to 2nd street found ABC and it isn't fancy it's a rather large old building with a gentleman that works the counter that know his stuff and very friendly. The prices are what you should expect from ANY neighborhood liquor store... Which brings to mind my peeve with neighborhood liquor stores you usually go to them because you ran out of something at home or you just want to run out and GRAB something and they have a better selection than the grocery stores. I would advise this to you all that live in this area go to BevMo they are about (on average) $5.00 less expensive and their selection is just as extensive. Store = 4 stars Deli = 2 stars ABC is a large liquor store that was the BevMo of Long Beach before there was even a BevMo, run by the same guys for at least 20 years. They have a large selection of beers, wine and liquors, some of which won't find in the regular grocery or liquor stores. They even sold Everclear at one point. I have also have bought a few kegs from them and they were priced reasonably. Don't bother with the deli. I just tried their "Classic Italian" which basically tasted like a bologna sandwich. It was made with a packaged white roll, some deli meats, mayo and lettuce. There were supposed to be onions, but I didn't taste any. Overall, it was dry and flavorless. read more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE BEER LOVERS. Purchased 4 beers from this store. The bottles were on the shelf, not in the cooler which is fine...buttttt the beer was old. When I called the store the owner explained it was the distributors fault and that he could not tell me how long they had it in a warehouse before selling in the store. Instead of offering to replace the beer he made all sorta of excuses, passed the buck and talked over me....super rude. The beer is from a local brewery and does not see 'warehouse time' like bud or other junk brew. This is simply a store that put old beer on a shelf and sold it to me. Perhaps if the store maintained a current inventory this would not happen. But here's the deal: I called the brewery and spoke to one of the brew masters whereupon he politely told me that given my description of the label, the beer was over a year old. He also offered to replace my purchases. That's customer service. Now I could continue blathering on about the ABC owners poor customer service, but instead I will say this: ABC is not the kind of place that values patronage and we will never buy anything there ever again. read more

My wife and I were nearby and in need of some food without having much time, so we stopped into the store to grab a sandwich. The man there couldn't have seemed to have been more bothered. ABC has been right under my nose for a few years now. I usually just make a stop at 'ghetto' Vons next door, which is more like a big liquor store than a place to buy groceries. (By the way, Vons currently closed for remodeling.) So ABC has everything alcohol-related that a girl could wish for. Mixes, gin, vodka, wine, glassware, etc......it's all here. There's even an extensive collection of premium liquor behind the counter if you want to buy your boss some expensive scotch or somethin' The real star here is the help behind the counter and the owner if he happens to be in. Darn!! I can't remember his name!!! But he hosts monthly wine tasting trips up to Santa Barbara for about $125 per person. The cost includes transportation (wine served during the ride up so you're already toasted when you arrive!) a tour & tasting or a few vineyards and even some special VIP extras like meeting the winemakers etc..... He was so friendly, I wanted to board a bus right then and there. I got on their mailing list and the next time I need to drown my guilt and sorrow I'll come to ABC. read more

I live in the area and I work from home. This is my favorite place to go for lunch. When you walk in, you will see a wide variety of wine, craft beer, and liquor. It is a lot like BevMo but the staff actually knows where things are here. If booze is your thing, I'm sure you will like this place, but personally, I am here for the SANDWICHES. The place is clean, quiet, air conditioned, and it is never crowded, so there is no waiting. The owner is nice, but let's focus on what really matters... SANDWICHES. The back portion of the store is a sandwich deli in the traditional New York style. Ingredients are of a high quality and the portions are generous. There are a few small tables where you can sit and eat, but I order to go so I can eat my sandwich at the beach, which is a 2 minute walk from here. Hot and cold sandwiches are made to order, fast. Get in, get out, enjoy your sandwich. This place is the best sandwich place around. Actually I lived down the street from this place for a while but never came in because the Yelp reviews are not so great. I don't understand why. Went here for the first time to get a couple bottles of champagne and just moved to the area a few blocks away. The guy was not too keen on giving me the receipt. He never offered but I asked for one and he put it in the bag. When I got home the I put the bottles in the fridge and glanced at the receipt and noticed 4 charges instead of 2. There's a service fee and an extra bottle of wine I was charged for and not aware of. The service fee was annoying but not a big deal, but when I called to tell Tito, the cashier, about the extra bottle I had been charged for he told me I would have to come back the next day in the morning to get a refund. After I make my way back to get the money he wrongfully took from me, I will not be back. I would check your receipts if you go here. Its sketchy anytime they try not to give you one. read more

Went there for lunch today and ordered a tuna and avocado sandwich. Although it was fresh, it was all bread. Small amount of tuna and you could barely find the avocado and tomato. And the Tomato still had the stem on it. I went home and doctored it up and turned it into a really good sandwich. This local Liquor shop has everything you need when setting up an evening at the pier or a picnic on the beach. Huge selection of international and local wine, lots of beer, cheese, crackers, and novelty snacks. If your looking for a gift for a friend, look no further; novelty bottles of alcohol in little gift kits, cigars, and other cool stuff. The deli is alright, and reasonably priced especially for the area. Don't even bother with THE MARKET next door, you'll be happier eating from ABC. Good variety of "fresh" meats and cheese with good combo meals and sides. in the mood for some deli food the bf and i headed down ocean blvd looking for a beach side sammie locale. along came abc. first off, lemme say abc looks like a great wine purchasing shop, as it's filled with bottles boasting price tags anywhere along the lines of $5 to $800. secondly, the deli is located off to the side...and business didn't seem to be bustlin today. i ordered the italian sub, while the bf opted for the hot roast beef dip. both were yummy. mine was regular sized and cost $5.99 which includes any salad side (potato, anti pasto and pasta are a few of the choices). i enjoyed the dining experience and i'm sure my bf did too. we'll return for the reasonable prices and yummy sammies but the service leaves something to be desired. read more
