First time here and we had such a fun experience! We ordered the Peach Party Bowl which comes with Sprite, sweet peach syrup, and a full upside down Peach Soju bottle. Our friends got the Shark Bite Party Bowl. It starts bright blue with a tropical raspberry and citrus flavor, then they pour in red strawberry syrup at the table for a cool bleeding effect with an upside down soju bottle. Both drinks come with light up colorful ice cubes which made them even more fun. We chose the premium dinner menu. The whole table has to pick the same menu, which worked well for our group of four, but it is good to know if you have a larger party. The meat was tender, flavorful, and easy to enjoy. The sauces had great flavor and paired well with everything. The regular dinner menu comes with sushi, and dessert is a warm pancake style treat that was the perfect sweet bite at the end. Customer service was fantastic. The staff checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. You get one and a half hours to eat and it is AYCE, but with good food and good company the time flew. We left full, happy, and definitely in a food coma in the best way. So good. We will be back!

We came about a month ago so maybe the service is better. We got here right before it got busy and we're the first people to be added to the waitlist yet people were getting seated before us without a reservation and it was just me a my boyfriend party of 2 so that was really frustrating. It was a busy night and they had a huge party reservation of over 15 guests so I understand and am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Food was good, the cuts of meat themselves were good and they had a good selection on their menu. It's nice that they included some sushi on there, especially that Alaskan roll. I did not like the white sour sauce on the salmon carpaccio. I usually low sour stuff but whatever that was, was just not it, I had to scrape it off and dip it into soy sauce :( I love that there's a nice modern kbbq place in Tucson. I love the unique feel Tucson has but it's also fun to have something like this as a choice to go out for birthdays, occasions, or just to hang out with friends too.

First off, the place is super cool in its decor and ambience. The staff are friendly, fun, knowledgeable, and efficient. We never had to ask for anything because they were so good at their job. The food was off the hook. You have a mini bag at the table and you order your meat off the menu and bag it yourself. You pay a certain price and just keep ordering unlimited meats. There are premium meats that cost more, but each is just one price. Premium was $30 per person, but it is all you can eat. It also comes with appetizers, kimchi, salad, and rice. All unlimited servings. There is a full bar and many different wines, beers, and sake. They didn't have much for dessert, but there was so much food, dessert just sounded like an overkill. It does get pretty crowded for dinner time, so come early. I highly recommend this place for a great meal.

GEN Korean BBQ hasn't even had their grand opening yet, but we couldn't wait! It was the Panera on Broadway just west of Wilmot and not even recognizable as its former self! The interior is filled with tall booths providing total privacy and feels like an elegant minimalist decor with Asian influence. I had been to one Korean BBQ restaurant so had an idea of what to expect. We arrived about 11:30 and it wasn't too busy yet. We were led to our table and given the various menus, and assured our server would explain everything. The booth was roomy enough for six, so we were comfy. A big cutout in the center of the table had an insert for the wok-like cooking pan. Our server, Ethan, was fantastic. He carefully and clearly explained the menus and options. The lunch menu, $19.99, had more than a dozen appetizer options and more than double that number for the meat and vegetable entrees. For appies, we chose fried dumplings, glass noodles with onions, and Korean fried chicken. For our entrees we decided to start with the garlic chicken, marinated beef belly, and brisket. First the side dishes and salad were brought out: kimchi, pickled radishes, pickled cucumbers (I think!), mashed potatoes (more like a mashed potato salad), cabbage, and a green salad. We each were given a trio of sauces for dipping. Then the appetizers came out. I particularly enjoyed the dumplings that they called gyoza (Japanese) but really are mandu (Korean). I'll just call them delicious. Then the platters of meats came out. They were HUGE! We cooked and ate and cooked and ate. The marinated flavors were so good. I really enjoyed the chicken. Our waiter came by several times to check on us and see what else we wanted. We were stuffed, but had to try the shrimp and the pancakes that were actually on the appetizer menu. The shrimp were whole: shell, head, and legs. They cooked beautifully and were yummy, though removing the unwanted parts was messy. The pancake description sounded like dessert, dough filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and peanuts. They were the perfect sweet bite to finish our meal. The hostess brought her tablet to the table for check out. This was a nice, convenient procedure. Adding beverages and tax, the lunch bill was $24 each, very reasonable for AYCE of this quality The dinner option includes additional items and is $29.99 and for $20 more you can get the premium meats and sushi. Each table has a huge exhaust fan running to eliminate smokiness from cooking; music is playing too, so it's pretty noisy. The advantage is that we didn't have to overhear conversation from other tables, lol. This was a dining adventure that we really enjoyed and we will definitely return.

I saw the deal for Sunday to Thursday lunch so my friend, her aunt, and I came here. However, after we were seated, we were told that the lunch special changed as of today to Monday to Thursday only. The manager came to explain and we advised him to put up a sign or have hosts tell people since I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones who came for the lunch special. Their website and social media still have the Sunday lunch deal listed, and there's even many Yelp reviews mentioning it. With the dinner menu all day, the plus is you can also order sushi. Ambiance is nice inside with blue lights and windows. The vents don't seem to work too well so it's very smoky when cooking, but the meat quality is really good for AYCE and the sushi tastes fresh too. I was hoping to get the $19.99 deal, but I think it's still worth the $29.99 price.

The long-anticipated Gen Korean BBQ has finally opened in Tucson, and I was excited to try it. I've been to Gen locations in Phoenix (twice) and Las Vegas, so I had a good idea of what to expect and was really hoping this one would deliver. We went in shortly after opening, and there was plenty of seating--well over 20 booths available. We requested a booth, and while there was a bit of initial confusion, the staff regrouped and ultimately accommodated us, which I appreciated. The lunch pricing (Sunday through Thursday) is hard to beat. While there are premium dinner upgrades available, we found them a bit pricey and stuck with the lunch option, which did not disappoint. My favorites were the premium chadol (brisket) and the woo beasal (beef belly). Portion sizes were noticeably larger than at other Korean BBQ spots I've been to, which was a pleasant surprise. That said, there were a couple of downsides. Ordering was a bit slow--our second round of meats took over 15 minutes to arrive. I also have to mention the tongs: they're quite small, which made grilling a bit uncomfortable with hot oil splashing close to your hands. For a restaurant that specializes in grilling, this felt like an easy thing to improve. Service-wise, it was clear the staff was still in training, which is understandable since we went during their third day of opening. I'm hopeful that efficiency and flow will improve with time. Overall, I had a solid experience and fully plan on coming back. I'm optimistic that with a few refinements, this could easily be a five-star spot for me on a future visit.

Gen was so good that I took my wife here when she got into town. Loved the atmosphere and it was busy. Had a great server, Noah who made great recommendations to try. The food was great and I really liked the spicy pork ribs and paper thin radish. We had the $39 all you can eat dinner which allowed us to have endless choices. Great place to go. Also had clean bayhroom.

My husband and I visited GEN Korean BBQ House for the first time, and the experience was amazing from start to finish! Our server, Alex, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Since we were not familiar with the menu, he took the time to explain everything, recommend items, and even introduced us to Korean soju -- we even took one to go! The restaurant was extremely busy, but Alex handled the rush like a true professional while still making us feel taken care of. His customer service honestly made our night. The food was excellent, and I don't think there was a single item we didn't enjoy. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Alex, for making our first visit nothing less than perfect!

I highly recommend this kbbq spot now open in Tucson ! I am so glad that they open one in Tucson. I had Gen at other locations in California and Tempe. This one is by far the best one among all. The price is reasonable. The food is good quality and amazing. They got basic kbbq or you can do the fancier all you can eat that include sushi, rolls, and other premium meats. Every appetizer we tried including fried shrimp, bulgogi fries, and calamari are great. They also got other dipping sauce you can add on such as salsa verde and herbs, which all tasted good. The service here is amazing. Our waitress is very friendly and she always remember to bring our requested items and constantly check in with us. This is one of my fav kbbq spot in Tucson now with kotu. I highly recommend this to anyone.

As we began to look,(basically, we just did a google search) , Wings and Rice showed up on our, "food radar" . After noting the high number of 5-star ratings that were consistently being given to WINGS & RICE by my fellow Tucsonians, my wife asked if I would stop by and grab some wings to bring home to share with our honored guests. Upon arriving home, the wings were quickly decimated by our guests. The fact that they were gobbled up so fast and raved about, is probably the best and most-honest evidence that the numerous five-stars ratings given to WINGS & RICE are "spot-on" in their assessments. The place is "kind-of unassuming"--as it sits on the south-east corner of Pima and Craycroft in Tucson. Despite the fact that I have passed it numerous times-- wondering about it, and even considered giving it a go, I ultimately have never stopped in. Shame on me, as i we came to really enjoy the food here! This does then beg the question... "How many other hidden gems like this have I been passing by?" But then, in the bigger view of it all, isn't this the primary reason that YELP exists?! I think YELP got its name from the sound a dog makes after being kicked--which is what should have happened to me for passing this place so many times. ( *That origin story is not true--I just made that up for comedic effect.) So anyways, in my humble opinion (*for what that is worth), the place is the culinary equivalent of Duncan the Tall--a simple, but honorable hedge-knight in the HBO series, "A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms." (It's not my place to recommend TV shows here, but this one is a good 'un). And, if you are thinking that my saying this restaurant is like a lowly knight roaming the country-side seeking justice and honor is a criticism against W&R, you are so-so-so wrong! My comparison is intended as a compliment in the highest of regards. For, like Dunk, this place embodies the true ideals of what it means to serve. WINGS & RICE does not adorn itself with fancy-pantsy decorations and art. Instead, it strives to modestly, and without "pomp and circumstance" follow the noble ideals of serving up high quality and tasty chow (at reasonable prices) to the tired, huddled masses--yearning to breath free and fill their bellies. So, my lords and me ladies, pray, allow me to express my final thoughts on the matter of sustenance and refined beverages that can be had-ith at WINGS and RICE... If one be-ith in the moodith for-ith some tastely victuals, this be-ith the place. I probably just lost all shreds of any "street cred" that I may have had-- with my, "playing the fool" by comparing the W&R to a character in a show. (*not to mention my attempt to use the language of the middle ages and falling short). Despite all that, don't pass this place up. It really is, "the good stuff". Make yee way, post-haste and full-tilt to-ith WINGS & RICE!!! Anon! Post script. We opted for the buffalo wings and the lemon and pepper wing flavors from their menu. The lemon and pepper offerings went first and were demolished in seconds...but the buffalo flavored ones did not last long either. Our guests nearly came to "unshielded swords" over who would get the last of these tasty morsels of delectable meats. *And, an added bonus was the side of rice, which, while I was waiting for my order to be completed, I over-heard two different patrons rave about. Cah-ching! They were not wrong... "food-ith of the gods" were those starchy seasoned soft and sticky white grains of heaven--bathing in spicy buttery flavor!
