Picking my middle child up from OSU after work, she had selected Genghis Grill for our dinner before heading home. Not familiar with this fast casual chain, I was eager to give them a try! Located just a few blocks from campus, I was pretty surprised the restaurant was completely empty at 7pm on a Friday night, but that gave us the time and space to ask plenty of questions to the staff. My daughter ordered the Bangkok bowl, while I got the Hot N Spicy. With two fountain drinks, our total bill was $36.46 before tax and tip, which felt pretty typical for the city. Our food was ready in record time (again, we were the only patrons), and it was as hot as it was good! My daughter said her Bangkok was very good, which mirrored my thoughts on the Hot N Spicy bowl. Both of us especially enjoyed how fresh the sugar snap peas were, and how they were perfectly cooked! We drive from the Polaris area to campus once a month just for Genghis, the food is THAT good! The General Tso's is our go-to, and the staff is always incredibly friendly and fast. The service and quality never disappoint. We just wish they'd open more locations! read more

Mike G. clued me in that this was opening, and since it was close and I like Chinese/Mongolian/whatever, we swung by. Not busy on its first day, since OSU is out, but a steady stream of walk-ins like us. You can of course order online. It's kinda like a fast-casual BD's, and I think it's owned by them. Order at the counter, from a set menu including a bunch of options, or build your own. They grill it, then text you when it's ready. Took about 10 minutes. Baby K got bacon chicken mac, with only that (removed some veggies.) She loved it. Curly cavatappi in a light cheese sauce, real bacon, grilled chicken. No kid's menu, but with mac, rice, and quesadillas, you can make something they'll eat. Oh, also you can get a "flavor shot" in your drink, strawberry or orange I think, and she liked that in her Sprite. I had kimchee fried rice. Moderately spicy, chock full of veggies and meat, very tasty. I got a medium and came hungry, and it was plenty. Their website says the large is to share, and that actually seems accurate. (Baby K had a small mac and ate about half, and she came hungry too.) Service was excellent. Overstaffed on opening day, with a mix of brand new and seasoned employees. They were super helpful with Baby K. The place is airy and open, with comfy seating. Parking will be an issue during school, but for the summer 15th has some spots up the block. Some outdoor seating. Price was a little high, but quality and quantity is up there too. I'll be back to try other options, including breakfast bowls. read more

I have visited Genghis Grill a couple of times now. The first time was a takeout order, the second was a delivery order. I will start by saying that I went to OSU and this is one of the many new options that didn't exist on campus when I was a student 10+ years ago. On the day I visited in-person, I ordered at the shop and waited for my order to be ready. It consisted of a large jambalaya and a side order of their kimchi. This spot is an interesting concept to me because they have a mix of cuisines, all served in similar styles. It's extremely customizable from proteins to sauces, which I really appreciated. I got sides of a couple of different sauces. The large jambalaya was a very large portion, easily shareable with multiple people. I believe the staff member who helped me was an Anthony(?), and it was an EXCELLENT customer service experience, especially for a first-time customer. The food itself was delicious. The rice was cooked to my liking, I was pleased with the proportion of protein, and the kimchi I got on the side was fire (literally, it's spicy, y'all). My second order was a medium jambalaya and a fried rice dish. The fried rice almost had too much protein, but that's not really a huge complaint. The flavors were there, the portions are fair, and I ate every bite (after a couple of days). I highly recommend this spot if anything on their menu sounds good to you at the time. read more

Ordered for delivery. Food was fine but nothing I'd go out of my way to get again. Got a build your own stir fry and the drunken noodles. Portion sizes for both were fairly small relative to the price, in my opinion, and had very little chicken in them (roughly $16 for a small stir fry bowl on the third-party app-- maybe the prices are higher on those apps; I haven't looked at their dine-in pricing). Stir fry was slightly better than the drunken noodles. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

Visiting Columbus, OH fora few days, came here for dinner as the veggies sounded good. These gentlemen were super busy and we had a wait but they were super nice, friendly and professional. Great food, but absolutely terrible service. We waited so long for our food. It took me 15 minutes just to get my cups for the self serve drink station. I was ignored by staff. DoorDash delivery people were interjecting with staff and they seemed to take priority. Some of our food was never brought out.
