Gengis Khan is located in the food court of the Great Mall. It's made-to-order Mongolian stir fry. What I love about this restaurant is the cafeteria style set up. You to create your perfect meal by selecting from a variety of fresh ingredients. You pay a flat fee. What ever you can fit in your bowl (w/o noodles) goes onto the grill. Tofu, chicken, turkey, pork and beef. There are tons of vegetables choices as well. At the end of the line there sits the large circular grill where you watch skilled chefs cook your food. Not only do you get a custom meal, you get a cooking show. My food was amazing as always.

FOOD : Great food and flavors. Not much that can go wrong with plan veggies and noodles. SERVICE: I'm a vegetarian and asked the team to clean the surface before they cook my noodles and vegetables and they were very through with the cleaning even though they were super busy. Great service. AMBIANCE: It's inside the food court of the mall so technically no direct ambience for the store. But then the overall ambience of the food court is great since they upgraded the food court a few years ago in great mall. VERDIT : I would say a good try for the experience.

A special thank you to Maylani, who helped me so much while I was deciding what dishes to try.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

An absolute delight and a great choice if you're a mushroom fan!…read more This place has been on my queue for a while to try out, and it really hit the spot. I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.

I also really liked the mint beef soup. It tasted like a Chinese take on pho. The spicy garlicky sauce it came with was super yummy too. I met up with my non-vegan best friend, and we both loved our meals. We shared two vegan appetizers and each got our own entree. I appreciate that they have a separate vegan menu with lots of options to choose from. Here's what we ordered: Mango Mojito, Vegan Thai Tea, Roti Curry, Vegan Crispy Eggplant Strips, Vegan Shrimp Laksa Noodle Soup, and Premium BBQ Combo. The presentation of our dishes was on point, and the portions were generous. Everything I tried was super flavorful and delicious. The curry sauce for the roti was incredible, and the breading on the crispy eggplant was really flavorful and tasty, though I was a bit surprised by the ketchup on top. Next time, I'd ask for the ketchup on the side. The laksa noodle soup broth had an amazing depth of flavor. I didn't try the mango mojito or BBQ combo, but my friend said she absolutely loved them! Highly recommend checking this place out; we're definitely going back to try more things!
