This Shihlin spot inside the Great Mall is still visibly great for Taiwanese snacks and beverages. Everything tastes good. They actually run a bit smoother and faster now compared to years ago. The one self service kiosk works fine. Staffs are always very busy fulfilling orders. Menu variety is still considered a bit more affordable than other Taiwanese food spots. Tables and chairs are always packed with customers and it seems like they keep coming back here. Employee was polite and helpful. I still think they should do something about calling out order numbers because it's hard to hear when there's a lot of people in the area. Having a display screen setup would help. I had my $12 popcorn chicken with the red plum beverage $5. Very convenient and good. It's usually better after 2pm on weekdays compared to rush hours. I still like Taiwanese snacks, so coming here for small rice bowls or noodles and snacks is reasonable. The business really made a good mark or good reputation and there's many available locations now. Delicious foods. If they expanded the fast food snack menu or created more meal sets for customers, it would attract more people to revisit.

    Popcorn Chicken 鹽酥雞

Delicious popcorn chicken, but the XXL Crispy Chicken is the best thing here for sure! Perfectly juicy and crispy. I got the popcorn chicken 鹽酥雞 this visit and the order came out relatively fast. The mild was shockingly pretty spicy! But the portions were huge and it was a great mall food court snack.

I was a little bit skeptical at first because how good can a restaurant in the mall food court really be? I also came when they were about to close so I didn't have the highest of expectations. Happy to report that I was wrong and my food was delicious! I ordered the popcorn chicken rice box ($16) with mild spice and in less than 10 minutes, my food was ready. I think next time, I will be ordering the medium spice because the mild wasn't spicy enough. I was also worried that the popcorn chicken was going to be soggy since I drove home to eat, but even after I got home, the chicken was still warm and crispy! YAY! The whole meal was enjoyable and was enough to feed me for 2 meals. Very worth it for $16 if you ask me!

Closed for rats and cockroaches. Check the Santa Clara county reccords for closure status. They are in a food court. Probably all of the places in there are infested. Just so happens if the dead roaches or droppings were swept up right before the inspection. Yuck.

This was the great mall Milpitas food court and we absolutely love the food we picked out. We did fried chicken plate, fried mushrooms and tofu. The food brought back back my memory of how street cart food taste on my Taiwan trip. All fried items were nice and crispy and moist. Well seasoned to my liking. As most fried mushrooms it goes soggy quick due to all the moisture mushroom holds. There fried mushrooms was crispy even after it was cold. Since it comes out made to order you can expect a little wait but you know your getting it fresh hot and crunchy

    XXL chicken thigh

Ordered the XXL chicken thigh no spicy with default seasoning fully cut. The batter was perfectly crispy and tasty. I asked for the chili powder when I picked it up and it was perfect for when I wanted a little kick to my bite. Ordering is easy you just order from the kiosk and wait for them to call your number. Definitely coming back when I go to the mall.

This location really knows what they are doing. I walked up on a busy Saturday afternoon (day after black Friday) obviously it is busy and people are walking up and down trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. As soon as I walk up an employee hands me a piece of their fried chicken. I wasn't sure of what to get yet since my husband was getting Chinese food I was thinking of doing something a little different to share. But once this man handed me that piece of chicken I knew he got me. They had a Popcorn Chicken Ricebox and I just knew this was my lunch for the day. The popcorn chicken special also came with a drink. I got the Spicy (Medium) popcorn chicken with a Honey Lemon Cooler. The chicken was fresh out the fryer, the rice was perfectly cooked and I don't always care for the hard boiled egg in a sauce but I loved this one. The only complaint I would have is the vegetables were Fridge cold. I was expecting warm veggies but I think that's just a preference thing. All and all this is definitely be my go to when holiday shopping this season.

    Grandma's braised meat rice
    Paula-Mertha C.

I usually don't have high hopes for food court meals at any mall, so I ordered here knowing that it will be average at best. I've tried braised pork rice before and knew that it's actually a delicious meal, so I was excited for my daughter to try it. After receiving and trying the braised meat rice order, I was truly disappointed in the food. They included a ton of cilantro on top and also throughout the meat rice, which was overpowering the other flavors. The addition of the pickled vegetable in meal was NOT working for me at all. My daughter was also not a fan of the braised meat rice. Luckily, the drinks were quite refreshing. I ordered peach green tea with only 30% sugar, which I truly enjoyed during the hot afternoon. There aren't any real interactions with the staff here, besides picking up your order. All orders are done on the kiosks in front of the restaurant. There is a convenient option to allow them to send you a text message once your order is ready. Overall, I'm not a fan of Shihlin's braised meat rice. The flavors were way off and didn't taste like the other Taiwanese braised pork rice that I've tried in the past. The drinks however are delicious. 2 out of 5

    Crispy Chicken Meal
    Jack T.

This chain has been serving some good value for the price that will fill you up or last 2 meals for many years now. I always order the crispy chicken but have ordered most menu items at this point. If you are familiar with the food, this is fast and hits the spot. For those not familiar, this is some region specific snack lunch type cuisine. Try it out!

Sort of a late review but the food is not bad. I'm not too familiar with Taiwanese food overall so this is a good introduction to the genre.

Last time I was here, I was at the Great Mall, I see this spot, and I knew I wanted it. Today, I'm at Shihlin Tawain Street in Milpitas. I had the Fried Rice Cake. They asked me what flavor did I wanted, and I asked them what's their favorite or top pick. I went with the Mixed, you can call it a variety pack. And I didn't think the XXL Fried Chicken was actually XXL, I was wrong, it definitely looks XXL. And I opted, to get it in a Thigh and Leg for the nutritional factor. The Fried Cake was out of this world, the batter was so crunchy, and the contrast in texture is awesome. The Tawainese Fried Chicken, was next level. And I couldn't forget, about the original Brown sugar Pearl Milk Tea, it was so refreshing. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.8-4.3 stars, I rarely do something like this, but I give this 4.4 stars.

I ordered Grandma's braised meat rice through the front kiosk around 11 am. It didn't take too long for them to prepare the food but I waited for a little bit for them to pass the food to me. They don't have many staffs for early morning. The braised meat rice was quite flavorful. I don't mind order it again.

As much as I love the deep fried, stewed, saucy dim sum chicken feet, I grew up eating chicken feet akin to the ones at Kickin flavors, so I was thrilled to check them out. They are located next to a Ranch 99 in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. The store is small but clean and cute. There is a display case with all the chicken foot flavors, pre-packaged. The man working there was very friendly and allowed me to sample all the flavors. I tried the Thai, the spicy, and the garlic, and ended up going for the garlic (though the Thai was a close contender!) The chicken feet are cut into smaller pieces and deboned quite well. The garlic flavor is pungent and refreshing; I definitely needed mouthwash after eating it though! The flesh is crunchy and flavorful, just super super satisfying. Overall, the chicken feet here are quite well made and prepared. I think the price is a bit steep but you definitely get what you pay for. As someone who likes deboning the chicken feet myself, it did feel like I was missing that 2% to take this place to the next level. I would love for them to also offer bone-in chicken feet at a slightly lower price, I would totally go for that!
