I was a little bit skeptical at first because how good can a restaurant in the mall food court really be? I also came when they were about to close so I didn't have the highest of expectations. Happy to report that I was wrong and my food was delicious! I ordered the popcorn chicken rice box ($16) with mild spice and in less than 10 minutes, my food was ready. I think next time, I will be ordering the medium spice because the mild wasn't spicy enough. This Shihlin spot inside the Great Mall is still visibly great for Taiwanese snacks and beverages. Everything tastes good. They actually run a bit smoother and faster now compared to years ago. The one self service kiosk works fine. Staffs are always very busy fulfilling orders. Menu variety is still considered a bit more affordable than other Taiwanese food spots. Tables and chairs are always packed with customers and it seems like they keep coming back here. Employee was polite and helpful. I still think they should do something about calling out order numbers because it's hard to hear when there's a lot of people in the area. Having a display screen setup would help. I had my $12 popcorn chicken with the red plum beverage $5. Very convenient and good. It's usually better after 2pm on weekdays compared to rush hours. I still like Taiwanese snacks, so coming here for small rice bowls or noodles and snacks is reasonable. The business really made a good mark or good reputation and there's many available locations now. Delicious foods. I've tried braised pork rice before and knew that it's actually a delicious meal, so I was excited for my daughter to try it. After receiving and trying the braised meat rice order, I was truly disappointed in the food. They included a ton of cilantro on top and also throughout the meat rice, which was overpowering the other flavors. The addition of the pickled vegetable in meal was NOT working for me at all. My daughter was also not a fan of the braised meat rice. Luckily, the drinks were quite refreshing. I ordered peach green tea with only 30% sugar, which I truly enjoyed during the hot afternoon. There aren't any real interactions with the staff here, besides picking up your order. All orders are done on the kiosks in front of the restaurant. There is a convenient option to allow them to send you a text message once your order is ready. Overall, I'm not a fan of Shihlin's braised meat rice. And I didn't think the XXL Fried Chicken was actually XXL, I was wrong, it definitely looks XXL. And I opted, to get it in a Thigh and Leg for the nutritional factor. The Fried Cake was out of this world, the batter was so crunchy, and the contrast in texture is awesome. The Tawainese Fried Chicken, was next level. And I couldn't forget, about the original Brown sugar Pearl Milk Tea, it was so refreshing. This review is to the owner/manager of this location. Older asian gentleman with glasses. I will preface this review that I have been to this location many times and have had no issues at all. On 11/8/25, my 5 year old daughter went to get a sample for her and her little brother. She enjoyed the sample, but wanted one more. I told her to go back and politely ask for last one (I understand the unspoken rule is one per person, but she's a little kid. no harm no foul) She went to the man and she asked "May I have one more?" The man pointed at my daughter and purposely lifted the tray and put it on the top counter out of my daughter's reach and said "No, only one". She came rushing back with a sad look on her face. How can you be so heartless and high-strung on an unwritten rule to deny a little girl for a measly sample? New Location located in the Great Mall Food Court. First stop here to buy some Pearl drinks for me and my boys. All boba fans! I ordered the Passion Fruit Green Tea (add boba), and 2 Brown Sugar Milk Teas. 1st one is "Original" and a 2nd one made with fresh milk, both come with pearls. You have the option to customize sugar level (100%, 60%, 30%) also able to customize ice level. I usually go for 50%, I don't like my teas watered down. All the drinks were good and me and my boys were satisfied and enjoyed our drinks. I was checking out the food menu and it looks really good. I also saw some dessert. With the news of a new establishment opening up, in Great Mall's food court nonetheless, I was absolutely ECSTATIC!! Fast forward a few months, Shihlin is officially open!!! Come one, come all!!!! You will not be disappointed. Our snacking consisted of: -Popcorn Chicken -Fried Tofu -Crispy Mushrooms Popcorn chicken was super meaty. No cheap fillers!! The chunks of chicken were moist and savory- exactly what I craved. Fried tofu came with a dipping sauce- much needed imo because it was absolutely plain without it. Outer had a nice crisp shell but very soft middle- the tofu texture was well maintained and not altered. Lastly, the crispy mushroom [my fave btw] was lightly battered, seasoned very well, and also contained large pieces of mushroom. 5/5 stars for delicious, quality ingredients, and perfectly cooked foods. They called out the number on the receipt when it was done. I would say what I got was not as thick as how they serve it in Taiwan, but that's probably better nutrition wise. It tasted fine. It was my first time ever having Shihlin at Great Mall food court. There wasn't a line when I went, so after I ordered, I waited around 5-7 minutes before they called my number. I ordered the Popcorn Chicken rice box and added a Wintermelon Tea for an additional $2. The Wintermelon Tea was surprisingly really sweet, so despite my sweet tooth, I'll definitely have to get half sweet next time I go. I loved the wintermelon flavor, so my only problem would be with how sweet it was. They offer regular sweetness and half sweetness. For the popcorn chicken box, the popcorn chicken was AMAZING. It was crispy and not spicy at all, so don't be shy with your spice level. It came with rice, some tofu, half a boiled egg, veggies, and some popcorn chicken. The portion was huge and could easily be split into two different meals. I loved the sauce on the tofu slices and egg, and I believe it was the same sauce that was put on top of the rice. The veggies were extremely cold, and I think I would have appreciated them a little more if they were room temperature or warm. I understand the desire to have that refreshing crunch in your vegetables, but it was too cold to be enjoyable. I had to eat it with some sriracha because they were super bland. Overall, the meal was pretty decent for the price. If I divided it evenly between two meals, I would be satiated but not full, so I think it's in that awkward middle ground between 1 and 2 meals. Came here with a friend yesterday at the great mall food court. They used to have one in Milpitas. We got the oyster pancake, fried tofu, fried shiitake mushrooms, XXL fried chicken, brown sugar milk tea and red guava tea. I greatly enjoyed the tofu and shiitake mushrooms. The oyster pancake is an acquired taste. The saving grace was the sauce. Should I complain that the oysters isn't that fresh. They probably just put in four oysters in one order. The XXL chicken which we ordered mild still has a kick on it. It was a bit spicy. It is large, but so thin and lots of tendon. As far as drinks, I got my green guava, half ice and half sugar. The guava flavor is weak while the milk tea was more milk than Tea. There is a digital kiosk when you make your order and you will receive a text message when it's ready to be picked up. I would say I was overall pretty impressed with the quality of the food and it was definitely one of the best options in the food court. My only qualm was that the food is on the pricier end, although I did see their drink menu was quite cheap. The service was very speedy and the workers seemed on top of it.
