I used to order from this restaurant every Saturday night mainly because the food was average and the location is close to my house. However they recently raised their prices for whatever reason probably " The atmosphere" either way the price of their food is not nearly worth it now, Go to Red apple on Hylan all you can eat for $20. - Seaweed salad , 4 spicy tuna , 1 chicken udon soup used to be $25, now thats $35 and their charging a dollar extra for ginger... your going see another sushi place close down in this location. I have only had the takeout at this establishment, never actually had a meal there so my stars are based on that. The system island roll was pretty good and the spicy mayonnaise tasted homemade. I would go back and have that again if I was in the area. Based on the reviews, I probably would not dine in because they have service issues. I got a staple in my sushi and I never complain about anything but a staple? I called and they came to retrieve the staple but nothing but apologies were offered. Wtf? I ordered from this place constantly. Something similar happened prior where the food order was wrong and they did not want to refund money. Food is good but will never give them another penny. from the toro to the fresh sushi found this place and so happy i did the volcano salad is just bonkers yes i used to bonkers plus it is very close to my house . fish is fresh fresh fresh unlike the other places out on this island that mask the taste by icing the fish cough cough tomo and all those other sad places. I have order food this place several times food was good and no issues till yesterday. I ordered my usual sushi, chicken fried rice, chicken teriyaki my delivery arrived in good timing me and my two daughters sit down to eat when one of my kids found a hair in the found she takes it out continues to eat and there goes 2 more hairs in the food. I was so upset I called and told them it got me to the point where I put all the food back drove over there showed them the hairs in the plate they asked if I want a new one no I don't want a new one are you kidding me! Not only 1 put 3 hairs in the food!!! I asked for a refund they go ahead to tell me because it rained they short staff and tight in the kitchen how does that have anything to do with hair in my damn food! I've been to Genki Sushi twice now. Their prices are really great for the amount and quality of sushi you get here. Their regular rolls vary from 2.50 to 4.50 and are really tasty. Their specialty rolls are between 9-12 dollars and are exceptional. Some of the sushi is quite warm and really does melt in your mouth. When you first arrive and decide to eat in, there is the added delight of being handed warm washcloths to wash your hands with. Very nice to have that. The food is wonderful but the service is poor. The woman st the front desk needs an attitude adjustment. Asked if a Boston roll could be substituted for a Philadelphia roll - was told there was $1 surcharge despite the two items being the same price. When inquired why there was a charge when they were the same price a poisonous smile emerged with the snippy comment of "you know you don't have to substitute". Only reason I didn't walk away without ordering something was because they were already preparing my sisters order. First time here and I actually ordered to pick up. There menu offers some pretty good choices of sushi and they even have a lunch special too which I like to see. I had me the Boston Roll and it had a little too much mayo in it which makes it greasy, the Philadelphia roll which didn't have enough cream cheese and then the spicy crunch tuna roll which was too spicy for me but I know lots of others will enjoy it, I'm not much of a spicy eater type and don't ask me why I ordered it! Thanks to the bf he took care of that problem & also the Kani salad was pretty good too. Prices are reasonably, the place is really also when I walked in, nice bright led color lights, huge fish tank and good amount of space and tables. Workers seem nice also. I'm wouldnt say that I'm a sushi expert... but something wasn't right with their sushi... I ordered a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, dragon roll and some sashimi. What got to me was their Salmon and yellow tail. I've had sashimi that were soft and melts in the mouth... however these were hard and tasted like refridgeration. I found myself forcing it down or over dousing my fish with wasabi to cover the taste. I give the restaurant 1 star for design, and 1 star for attentive staff. read more

Very long wait but that can't be helped. Extremely dark restaurant, so much so I thought I was going walk into things on the way to the bathroom. I ordered some unagi sashimi and some sort of spicy tuna roll. Everthing was mushy, especially the unagi which was sort of slimy too. The roll was also very small. I have had better sushi sold at supermarkets. If you want good sushi and are ever in newark Delaware try Mizu, its the best I ever had. Ever since they opened their Great Kills location this place has went down hill!!. The sushi quality is NOT the same. Nothing in rolls are fresh, the kani is SO FISHY & GROSS and the seaweed is chewy and nauseating!!! The only good thing about this place is the drink prices, but every cocktail tastes exactly the SAME!! We used to LOVE Genki back in 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013 & would come almost once a week for the great prices, good food & cheap drinks. I don't know what happened but I hope this place will go back to how it used to be. I wish this business well & appreciate it for the good food we used to eat. read more

We did not sit in, this review is for takeout only. I ordered the Staten Island Roll, it was cooked tuna, brown rice, avocado with sesame and crunch, some spicy mayo. Very good. My girlfriend tried their regular avocado roll and she thought it was very good as well. We will be back. read more

Ok so this place is located in a strip mall on Staten Island, but do not let that deter you!! Hubby and I were visiting friends on SI and we went for din at Genki... Very upset. Used to order form this place A LOT. Today I received my order and found a new black hair in the roll. I was furious and quickly called them. At first I asked for a new order, they lady on the line didn't seem to believe us so she offered to have the ordered picked up and then once they receive it to bring us another one. Which the whole delivery took about 45 mins so this would've been endless. I told them I changed my mind and didn't want the order just a refund.
