My initial conservative review has needed to be updated for some time. After several more visits I'm definitely a fan of this under utilized restaurant. Lately, there has been deals on Groupon like sites that lead me to believe they might be struggling. Here are some of the items I've tried since my first post. 1) Chicken parm, lunch version is ok, thin cutlets but a tasty red sauce. 2) Pork Milanese, very good pork with a Marsala type sauce, my aunt loved it. 3) Cheesesteak quesadilla, very good take on this. 4) Mussels in white sauce, excellent quality shellfish in a light white wine and butter sauce, one of my favorite versions as of late. 5) Mushroom pizzas, very good crust, cheese and sauce, all have been delicious but read more

A good start to a disappointing end. Entree $42 (steak medium) sent back twice (over cooked and then undercooked); kitchen backed up and service slowed down dramatically. No reason and no waiter to be found. Further, the place was packed when we arrived only to find ourselves 1.5hrs in, place half empty and entrees finally coming out. To top if off, we had to ask to remove a charge for a $14.99 replacement entree and never once saw the manager/owner (the least a premium restaurant should do). If you want to charge premium you need to act like it. Only when we left did we get asked how was the service! This place is not what it used to be sadly. Almost 5 stars! I liked my lentil soup, but wasn't blown away by it. The mussels in white - tremendous - not too garlicky - nor buttery - nor salty. I even "drank" a spoon of the sauce when the mussels were all eaten! The pizza was absolutely delicious, despite my suspicions when first seeing it arrive at our table (it looked too thin / burnt). This is one of my favorite restaurants! I enjoyed dining in and I'm so happy they have outdoor dining when the COVID restriction was lifted. The outdoor dining was very nice and spacious. I ordered the margarita pizza, calamari, my favorite capellini al granchi, and grilled salmon. I also ordered the tiramisu dessert and a strawberry cheesecake dessert. The calamari are very well season and I enjoyed every bite of it! I also love the complimentary bread they gave! The margarita was ok. Nothing spectacular or out.of the ordinary. My all-time favorite dish as I mentioned is the capellini al granchi! I ordered this dish every time and I will order it again and again! The dish has a good amount of crab meat and well balance noodles/ vegetables! The desserts were also very good! I will come back again for sit-in dining! Food is delicious. Had pumpkin pie martinis to start. Fried calamari was very tender and tasty. Bruschetta was good also. I had salmon carciofi and it was delicious. Huge portion served over pasta--took half home. The others in my party had the veal francese, the cod oreganata and the pork chop and all were delicious. The apple cobbler was an excellent ending. Grabbed lunch from here recently and enjoyed my meal! While I got takeout, the inside of the restaurant looked pretty cool, so my wife and I will likely be back for dinner at some point. The food was prepared pretty much on time and was reasonably priced. My buffalo chicken cheesesteak was pretty darn tasty although super filling! I kind of went into a carbo-coma after eating it. The homemade chips were OK but not amazing - I think they needed some more seasoning, and they were a little limp. My wife also liked her sandwich. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Their linguini with clams in white wine sauce is absolutely delicious every single time. However, I recently had a bad experience here that has left me wanting to be absent from this establishment for some time. I ordered the chicken parm dinner one night and it was absolutely amazing. A week or so later I ordered the same dinner again. It was awful. The chicken was chewy and splintery and old. (The sauce and pasta were both delicious though.) I called and spoke with who I believe was the manager. I will say she was friendly and accommodating. She offered either a credit to use in the future (although she should have offered a refund), or the delivery of another newly cooked chicken parm dinner to my house (since I paid for delivery for the first dinner). I said I would take a new dinner because frankly I still had to eat. It was delivered timely and I was so excited to eat. I began cutting it and noticed it felt similar to the other chicken. I took a few bites and it was just as bad as the previous. I realized they probably had a batch of old, or just really poor quality, chicken. I never called back after that because I knew I wouldn't get a refund and I didn't want a credit because I have no desire to come back here for a while. Such a shame. Also, $20 for chicken parm is a lot in general. But to serve it at that price and not ensure it's good chicken?! Not a good look. I'll be going elsewhere for my chicken parm. read more

Delicious sandwiches and a great version of fish and chips. Portions are huge and the fish cake delivered hot too oily and crisped just as you'd want from a platter. Great roll, good proportion of toppings and lots of flavor. read more

Working out of our Hamilton, NJ office always provides great opportunities for me to try out new restaurants in the area. I decided to order in for dinner and most of my options were you guessed it, Italian! Based on Yelp reviews, I decided to give Gennaros a try. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and a side of garlic bread. When the food arrived I noticed another container. It came with a side salad. That was a wonderful surprise. What I thought was a side order of garlic bread was an abundance of bread. The portions were great and it was very reasonably priced. I couldn't hardly begin to finish it all and I was only in town for a night so I wouldn't get to enjoy the leftovers either. The food was really good. Perhaps next time I'm in town, I'll stop in for dinner. read more

Been back a few times since the takeout disaster described in the previous review - food has been consistently fine, atmosphere is pleasant (we love the outdoor seating area in nice weather), and (drum roll...) they now serve alcohol, so they are officially a real restaurant. The owner was very disrespectful to one of his waitresses, yelling at her on the open floor and was very unprofessional. On top of that, the food and service was SUBPAR at best. One of the best of the best in Jersey for Italian food. We went during COVID and with a party of 6 adults and 5 kids we were able to secure a long table outside and spent the entire afternoon eating. Since we had reservations later on for the nearby Sculpture Gardens we decided to meet here and get the chillens fed and the adults relaxed. Bring your own wine and spirits so you can have a drink with your meal. We brought several bottles of wine and spent hours with our friends and family just enjoying a beautiful spring day and eating non-stop. When I say non-stop... I mean we had so much food over three hours of relaxing. Three orders of stuffed mushrooms, 3 of mussels, at least three orders of wings,artichokes, fried mozzarella, a few entrees and a few pizzas for the kids and another couple of dozen plates during our meal. Everything was excellent and the service was stellar as well. Kids were satisfied and there was never a moment where we wished we could find our server. The perfect weather and the relaxed atmosphere made for a tremendous time and we look forward to when we will be back in the area to stop in again. I have been here a few times and have never had less than an amazing meal with exemplary service! The owner is there often, stopping by each table to ensure you enjoyed everything and always willing to grab something, answer questions, or just make you feel welcome. This visit was a party of 6 and we were sat immediately upon arrival. BYOB helps keep the cost reasonable, but even so the cost of their dishes is quite reasonable. The outside seating is beautiful on a summer night. The breaded mozzarella with capers is a must, just wow every time I have it!! The rolls are warm and perfect to dip into the sauce - yes no calorie counting here!! For dinner we've had pasta carbonara. It's more of a winter time dish, but oh so yummy. The penne vodka is also a winner - I added broccoli because it's just a great combination to me :) The chicken parmigiana and chicken piccata are just amazing. The sauce is cooked to perfection, not too overpowering but enough to have some with each bite. Each dish is just the right size. I generally have some for lunch the next day, but that's because I can't resist the aforementioned bread and mozzarella. The final 'win' of this place is that you never feel rushed. Sit, eat, drink, chat and just enjoy your friends, love, and meal at your own pace. It's the ultimate win in a time where everyone is go go go! WOW! WOW! WOW! This was my first time here and I can't wait to return! I ate the artichoke franchese for appetizer and the clams with linguine for my meal. They were both delicious, nothing left on the plate! I have to say in a world where service has taken a nose dive, waitress Autumn was phenomenal! We met up with friends here for the second time and the food and service continues to live up to my previous 5 star rating! For appetizer we all shared the Spiedini Alla Romana, once again. And again, fabulous. It's a deliciously breaded mozzarella cooked to perfection served with a tasty tomato sauce. It's the appetizer that you must try! We also tried the bruschetta crostini; a very tasty creation too. For main course, we ordered the Chicken Marsala again. Why stray from what you know they do oh so well.... Moist chicken, flavorful Marsala wine sauce, delicious. It did not disappoint. We also got the Shrimp fra diavolo. This Diavolo dish would definitely be at home in the plane of existence of il Diavolo himself. It was way to spicy for me to eat. So, I gave them an amazing review in a magazine that I was featured, but unfortunately they really disappointed me. I ordered 3 slices one day, and they were overly burned. I'm not picky at all, but I had tu return them, the crust was black and the cheese was so burnt you couldn't see it. Then I went to the restaurant a few times, the last time I went, they had me sitting down for 30 minutes before asking me if was going to order anything. Didn't even offer water. Outstanding gluten free pizza crust! It's made with cauliflower. The escarole and beans were good too. Service was attentive and efficient.

What a nice unassuming restaurant, it is quaint, atmosphere is beautiful, and the wait staff is attentive. Christian was the waiter he was very nice. I had the capallini something and it was absolutely delicious. My cousin had the special quinoa with scallops and it was delicious. The fact that they are a BYOB makes it very nice and need to mention that they have paper straws which makes it 5 stars for caring about the turtles. Definately would go again. read more
