This is my second time visiting Alys Beach and stopping at this restaurant, and they never disappoint! Our server was outstanding- very friendly, great service, and he knew the menu very well. He told us his honest opinion on what to order and what not to order, which was appreciated! The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the vegetarian wrap with spicy balsamic is one of my favorite meals! My mother ordered the salmon salad with wontons and said it was amazing. I am very happy to be back and visit here. The setting is beautiful just like last time and this restaurant is more affordable (and has better food) than anywhere else we ate while on vacation. George's is an institution and the setting is world class. The Jamaican busboys are awesome, personable and remind me of the staff at the Homestead or the Grand Hotel in Michigan. Frankly they should be front and center and replace the waitstaff who were arrogant, snobby and didn't understand their left hand from their right. Simple things like chilling the white wine table side instead of setting it on the table in 90 degree heat or offering cream/sugar instead of delivering the coffee, rushing off then customer has to wait and flag him back down after it's delivered. The food was average and the prices are way too steep for the product you receive. For the cost, the food should be a wow moment at each course. The only wow was the amount on the check. The Mexican corn salad was mostly lettuce with little corn, little dressing and little flavor. The kids Mac and cheese was bowtie pasta and more Alfredo than cheese which the Kids pushed aside after two bites. The calamari was like a mozzarella cheese stick - oddly unnatural and processed consistency. The lobster quesadilla was solid but for $24 I didn't leave feeling like it was worth the cost of a NY strip steak. Speaking of steak, their filet tenderloin was also prepared appropriately to temperature but was presented on a small plate like an appetizer w no side and had no flavor. It was a grill and serve for $45. The Jamaican jerk snapper dish was overcooked, also had little flavor with a pineapple chutney that didn't help enough with a side of rice that was crunchy or too "al dente" The dessert was supposed to be a take on banana bread with a frosting - it tasted like it had been sitting on the counter for a week. Our family and friends have been going here for years, but we will be hard pressed to go there again. George, you need to reboot the kitchen, menu and waitstaff - such a disappointment. read more

This was a tough review. The salt and pepper shrimp that my wife has was incredible, one of the best dishes she's had, easily 4 star. But everything else was just ok. I had the lobster quesadilla and it was mediocre, didn't taste fresh and more like a seafood salad quesadilla...I couldn't find much shrimp or lobster. We had key lime pie which was ok, a bit milky for my taste. The worse part was the service. She never asked how the good was, pause when we let them take away half eaten, and hardly said a word. She seemed nice to the other tables, but maybe it was because we didn't order drinks and the other tables did? Just odd. But, it's still been a great anniversary AND I'd probably come back just for the salt and pepper shrimp. read more

Overall a disappointing experience. While waiting for our table we were rudely directed to a bar around the corner instead of the bar in the front where we have always ordered our drinks. The bartender (who has zero personality) served our wine in paper cups. Seriously, paper cups? The wedge salad was OK but fell significantly short of the wedge salad we had at Citizens next door. The salt and pepper shrimp were excellent as usual, but the crust on our Keylime pie desert was literally tuff. A major let down after our dinner the prior evening at the Citizen next door, which has a much more upscale atmosphere. They don't serve drinks in paper cups. George's, you're situated in a very upscale, high-end community like Alyce Beach you need to step up your game! read more

This was hands-down my best dining experience when I was down in the 30A area. Came here as soon as they opened for lunch with the wife and kids. This place is located on 30A in Alys Beach, right along the main drag. It is a cute little bungalow with a few seats inside, and the majority of the seating is outside around the side deck, which is covered, and plenty of seating under umbrellas. There is a small attached parking lot, but the Alys Beach amphitheater is just to the West of the restaurant, and has ample parking too. Service was awesome. Our server, Trent, was super attentive and treated us like royalty even though we didn't have ascots and spats like some of blue-bloods there that day. He immediately got us hydrated, beered, and took the orders for the kids. The rest of the wait staff was very engaging and played around with our kids, which was really cool. Great attitudes all the way around. We were told that the grouper sandwich here was legendary, and while the fabled sammich comes fried, you can also get it cooked on a wood-fired grill, which the server recommended or you can get it blackened. We were struggling because we didn't know how we could squeeze it into our meal, as they had lots of other amazing choices. Eventually we settled on getting a salad each and splitting the sandwich. I got an Sesame Crab and Avocado salad. Now let me be clear. I don't typically get entree salads. I don't even know why I ordered this particular one. But good god, it was the right choice. It came with big, flaky chunks of perfect crab meat, generous slices of perfectly-ripe avocado, fresh greens, and beautiful ripe yellow tomatoes. And the dressing - so good, perfect balance of soy, sesame, and perhaps some ginger. I was in love. I wanted to sop up the remainder dressing with the pita (oh hell, I did). The wife got a 'Dab Salad', which was a flight of the five side salads they had that day. Among them were hummus that was seasoned with basil and some other herbs, a pickled dill cucumber salad (really reminded me of an old Swedish recipe she makes, only better), and three other delicious salads. A great choice, especially if you are indecisive. Lastly, we hit the sammich. It was delicious. Crispy, perfectly cooked, and on a great bun with just the right amount of sauce. The wife loved her half too, and she had been averse to fish for a while. Came with some battered fries which were also excellent (and the kids helped us out with). It was great, but not legendary; I should have listened to the server when he recommended his favorite, grilled. A must-try place. read more

Love George's! This was our 2nd visit for lunch, also went 2 summer ago. Yesterday my friend and I started out with italian pinot grigio which was very good. I had the fish tacos with rice and beans-delish! My friend had the blackened grouper po boy and said this was our best lunch so far. Highly recommend. We did have to wait about 15 minutes but it was no big deal. The seating was a little cramped but we didn't care. read more

If every restaurant experience was like the one we received today at George's, my kitchen would probably forget how I looked. Where do I start? They are open daily for lunch, but close at 3pm. We arrived at 2:50pm and immediately felt the love from the staff, although they were closing soon. Our server James was the ultimate host. He was so knowledgeable of the menu and made excellent recommendations. I never felt rushed and he was overwhelmingly attentive, but not intrusive. He did a great job welcoming us and an even better job inviting us back when we were leaving. My daughter was pretty hungry, so we put her order in with our drinks. Not a full minute after our drinks arrived, her fried shrimp basket was delivered. Perfectly seasoned fried shrimp with a generous portion of crispy French fries. She truly enjoyed it. $11 is a little steep for a kids menu, but I felt it was well worth it. We both took James' recommendations and selected the fried grouper sandwich ( I substituted the roasted red potato salad in place of the fries) and the lobster quesadilla. Both dishes were nothing short of perfect and absolutely divine. The fried grouper sandwich was so fresh and flaky with a nice, golden fried batter on a buttery toasted bun. The potato salad was good, with a surprise addition of capers. It was delicious. The only thing I would have added was a tiny bit of black pepper, but I decided to forego adding anything. Now, about the lobster quesadilla! It was absolutely delicious. They didn't skimp on the lobster, shrimp and crab. There was a nice addition of Monterrey cheese mix inside and finished with a refreshing fruit salsa. It was perfectly balanced. I would definitely recommend this item on your next visit. Two thumbs up! We were too full to try dessert, but I will definitely save room to try next time. Finally, I never usually comment on restrooms, but find it noteworthy to mention that George's has an extremely clean, tidy restroom. Even my six year old daughter commented on how clean it was! Today's visit was definitely my favorite restaurant experience during my visit to 30A. Hats off to the staff and team at George's. Keep up the excellent work. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Great location, good food and good service. We started with the calamari fries. Very tender and filling. It was just two of us and this would have been enough for 4 people. I had the filet. It was good, but over cooked. I didn't send it back because I was too hungry. My husband had the spicy shrimp dish and thought it was very tasty. We will definitely be back. We ate lunch here on 07/07/21. We arrived at about 1:00 pm and were seated promptly on their large patio. The patio was comfortable. The service was great. I had the grouper lunch plate. It was very delicious. My wife had a salad with the fish of the day. She was very pleased. This is a great place for a nice lunch. We also ate dinner @ George's on 06/10/21. They do not take reservations. We arrived to stand in line at about 4:40. They open at 5. We were seated at about 5:15. Again the service was amazing. Paula & Adrian did an outstanding job. I had the scallops--wonderful. My wife had the salt & pepper shrimp. It was delicious. We finished our meal with the Chocolate Toffee Goo. It was very good. Fred, the manager, came by our table. Do NOT visit this restaurant if anyone in your party has dietary restrictions. When we tried to talk to the waiter about accommodating such issues he was very rude. The answer to every question was a curt "No." He offered no suggestions and showed no compassion. When a member of our party asked about maybe getting pasta with the sauce on the side, his response was "that would be an odd presentation." That's an odd response from someone in the service industry. We ate out every night during out stay and every other restaurant we visited went over the top to accommodate our member's dietary restrictions. I don't know if we were more disappointed in the restaurant or our friends that so highly recommended this place, as it is now obvious that they aren't in line with food we enjoy, which ultimately means we aren't that great of friends with those folks any more. He expertly recommended an appetizer and steered us in the best direction for our entrees and dessert. Our go to appetizer is the lobster quesadilla and if was great as always. I had the salt and pepper shrimp and was amazed by the flavor and textures. My wife's grilled grouper with power greens side was amazing. The fish was fresh and perfect. Had lunch here on our last day of vacation. Easy walk from anywhere in Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seacrest. Our party of 4 sat outside which was very pleasant. Ordered 2 California Lobster Rolls, the Angus Burger, and the Famous Market Fish Sandwich (grouper). All were excellent! As others have said, the fries are great. We knew this place was popular and my wife wanted to try it. Got there at 5:30pm for dinner. Line was long and it was a 45 minute wait for a party of 2. They have a back bar so we grabbed drinks and table was ready quickly. Server was nice but he knows how to turn a table. Felt rushed. Calamari fries were good. My jerk seasoned snapper entree was not good. Absolutely flavorless, which is hard to do if you're trying to jerk season something. My wife had the same issue with her grouper. The snapper and grouper were cooked well, but there was no flavor. We thought we might have covid because we couldn't taste anything. We ordered desert which was really good, and let us know we hadn't lost our taste and smell. Overall the experience was rushed and the entrees weren't good. Don't be scared to season the food. I liked that they had the back bar while we were waiting on the table, and enjoyed desert. I've just heard so much about this place and not what we expected. read more

The waiters rush you like crazy. They literally serve you over priced food. Also McDonald's is a way better option to eat.

We were a large party of 9. Definitely a challenge to accommodate. We waited for about an hour which we expected. When we were seated everything seemed great. Our waiter seemed to be a bit distracted but it did appear he had a lot of tables. Appetizers came out and we all didn't have silverware. His assistant provided us silver wear and was very attentive refilling our water glasses. Down hill from there. One person in our party received the wrong dish with the waiter seemed annoyed by with our party. Several dishes were under or over cooked. The porch chop special virtually raw. Our waiter never checked in on the quality of our food which we would have given feedback for. Our waiter had two tables left and virtually ignored us for 30-45 minutes. All in all. Service was bad food was mediocre. Not my top choice. read more
