This place was fantastic! First time there and so far it was truly a highlight of our trip! We had the Spicy Grilled Calamari Salad, the Lobster Roll, and George's Famous Fries. All three items knocked it out of the park. The calamari was spicy and delicious and the Quinoa and peanut salad was great. The Lobster roll was great as well, but those fries, with sliced pear and pulled pork were really something. The porch was comfortable and cool and the service was excellent. Very tiny but very good. Don't know why you'd order anything besides seafood here - grouper, snapper, catch o day - it is all very nicely turned out. Thank God. A new favorite after tonight. Dining in this immediate area is an overpriced challenge. We had two wonderful "my house" pours of wine, a Malbec and a South African blend. Both tasty. We shared a local arugula, field pea and shrimp salad that was clean its flavors and very, very satisfying. Wife had grilled grouper and appreciated the entire dish, and after reading the reviews here, made the lobster quesadilla my meal. Great call. It is huge, and full of seafood, and not a bunch of cheese typical of other run-of-the-mill quesadillas. I was a bit hesitant after reading some reviews here, notably the lady that said if to liked this, clearly you haven't been to metro dining hit spots. Well, she is food-snobbery challenged. Holy Wow! Explosive flavors, fresh and delicious fish, and great service. My favorite meal here in the Panama City beach area. The salt and pepper shrimp, forbidden black rice, jerk snapper, lobster quesadilla, and collard green slaw were all a hit! One tiny complaint was that my Brussels sprouts were under cooked but everything else really made up for it! I wish this wasn't the last night of vacation because I would definitely be back. I had the healthy chicken coconut curry wrap with grapes and nuts! It was very tasty! Our sassy waiter was helpful and provided suggestions. I think the atmosphere makes this place beautiful. Across the street from the restaurant is the beach but it's not within view. It's definitely a perfect date afternoon or night restaurant. It's fairly priced for the area. Had a yummy lunch again at George's, tried the calamari fries, they were very good. My favorite was the grouper and beet salad, it was lite and perfect before and after visiting the beach. Food is great but would get there early or late (which is difficult with kids). We got there at 6pm and weren't seated till 7:30 and didn't get out of there till 9. It is what it is as you can't make reservations. They do have a seating area around back where you can order drinks. I recommend you going for lunch as most people are at the beach. Our food and whole experience was amazing!!! We waited for our table on their rooftop area while drinking a glass of wine and then was seated in a cozy inside area. The food was to die for!!! When I was in Seacrest, I was craving a grouper sandwich for the last day of our vacation. I didn't want to spend time sitting in a restaurant so I called George's for take-out. I can't speak to the service, decor or other aspects of the restaurant, but I can speak to their grouper sandwich. It was excellent. It was seasoned with a bit of spice which gave it just enough kick. It was easily the best grouper sandwich I had when I was at the beach. read more

We've been going here once a year for the past four years. The food is always very good, but their best menu item has always been the Snapper (well seasoned and always perfectly cooked). Their warm chocolate brownie with ice cream is our second favorite menu item. I will say that the duck and peach flat bread appetizer wasn't anything special. read more

Food Quality - 5 stars Service - 2 stars Value - 0 stars $30 for a red snapper dish with black beans and some sort of chutney.. The presentation and taste was amazing; as good as anything I have ever had. But... The problem was I could have eaten 3 of these dishes. My piece of fish was about the size of a playing card, including the thickness (ok not really but close!) It couldn't have been more than 2 ounces of protein. The slaw was delicious but was served in a container the size of a shot glass, and my kids had the fish and chips (to die for) but literally 2 tiny bit size pieces of fish. The person who sat us was a total douchebag about us finishing our drinks we brought with us in red solo cups, claiming it was "the law." I honestly don't know how he could have handled it without being a douche to be fair, but it was pompous and rude. I'm sure it gets old saying it 100 times a night. If you aren't concerned about cost, and have a stomach the size of a ping pong ball, I highly recommend it, otherwise there are way better choices on 30A. If I do ever go back, I'll be sure to eat first; then I might enjoy it. read more

Food was mediocre considering the price. I can follow a bon appetit recipe and make something just as good. Bugs made the whole experience pretty miserable outside. Could barely finish my meal since I was too busy trying to prevent the biting flies from enjoying theirs. Three umbrellas toppled over in the hour we were there. My mouth is still watering. George's at Alys Beach is a great getaway with food you'd expect to see on Master Chef. To start, my wife and I shared the Fried Oyster App, delicious! They give you little pieces of cheddar cheese blocks and pickles to compliment the lightly breaded oysters sitting on a bed of cream corn. Just absolutely mouth watering. Not too dry and not too juicy, just perfect. I went simple and had the seasoned Ribeye. Just one of my personal favorites over the filet. The seasoning was superb and the char on the steaks was spot on for a Ribeye. They give you a very sizable portion of meat too, try it Medium and you will not be disappointed. The potatoes and asparagus compliment the steak quite well, all positives about this plate. My wife tried the Jerk Snapper. Being from Venezuela, she loves her plantains. The snapper was juicy and full of flavor. Couple that with a perfectly spiced dark rice and sweet fried plantains and you have one heck of a plate. For desert, if you've never tried pavlova, this is a must. It's best eaten with a coffee/latte. The pavlova had a perfect crust with an amazing lemon custard inside. 90% sweet / 10% tart. The glazed strawberries on top just made this a stunning desert dish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Liked the place so much I even bought a coffee mug to bring back home, thanks George and the rest of the staff!! read more

This is my first time on the Gulf in Florida, at least this part of the state. I've been to Sarasota many times and of course the ubiquitous south Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, where every NY family vacations each year. This strip in Walton County consists of multi-million dollar homes that all resemble a make-shift Truman show environment. Well of course, The Truman Show was filmed in the neighboring town of Seaside. Drive another 20 minutes east to this gorgeous dune filled stretch and indulge in one of the only upscale, read, truly edible and delicious eateries. To be expected, everywhere else is just touristy and downright fried. George's side salads can be switched out from fries: collard green slaw, red roasted potato salad, quinoa red rice, butternut black rice, nutty couscous (too sweetened for me) or pickled cucumbers. Melissa, a great server I was lucky to have offered to switch mine out and went that extra mile twice in a row. I'm such a finicky eater. The burger was perfectly done medium, thick and rich on a bun that wasn't sweet or too doughy. The seafood filled taco OMG, lobster, shrimp and cilantro with diced tomato and spices, to die for. There's a section of the menu called Mis-behave which means "fried". The outside porches are airy, air conditioned and light enough for me to write this review. Visited here for lunch on two occasions during my last trip to Panama City Beach. I was very impressed with the ambience and overall decor of the outdoor seating areas. Very tastefully done. Great atmosphere. Also a very dog friendly place, with both quality food and attentive service. I ordered the black grouper both times, once with the Mexican Street Corn Salad, and the second time as a seafood plate. Both times the grouper was cooked perfectly. That in itself was impressive. The combination of the Grouper over Mexican Street Corn Salad ingredients worked well and was fun but the street corn was present mostly in name. I added the red quinoa salad to the platter and it was excellent also. The fruit salad that day was fresh raspberries and pineapple, a neat combination. Anyway for a lunch spot at a coastal beach location, it is a good find and worth more visits to try other items on the menu and be able to enjoy a properly cooked piece of fresh grouper. Ate at George's twice last week, lunch and dinner. Both were outstanding. Food, service and quality of experience were all excellent. Staff was all masked, very accommodating to everyone and trained to take care of their customers. Our dinner in particular was the best. From wine to desert, it couldn't have been better. Our two different shrimp dishes were off scale great. Our waitress, a wonderful young lady named Natalia, waited on us at both meals and made the events special with details of the freshness of the food and how it was sourced, history about Alys Beach and George's, and recommendations. We were in town for a wedding and took our friends to eat here for their first time and we couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. We all left saying how that was one of the best meals we had ever had! James was very knowledgeable about the menu and all of his recommendations were far better than expected. From the Lobster Quesadillas and Fried Calamari to the Filet, Scallops and Salt and Pepper Shrimp dishes, they were all amazing! We had the best wine and deserts as well. Our server Angel was amazing! Our overall experience was completely unacceptable... we arrived at 7pm and waited (the quoted) hour and a half for our table. We are seated right about the time quoted, order drinks, receive them, and order food. Almost to the minute; one hour later we are told (by our server) they are out of shrimp. We replace the shrimp for all the entrees in our party of 12. One of which had pasta, she asked for just the pasta with no shrimp. About ten minutes later the manager (Frederick Walker) comes out and says they are out of pasta... we question what's been happening for almost an hour and fifteen minutes since we ordered and he went quickly on the defense, never actually taking the time to listen to anyone. He rushed the pasta guest to make a decision and ran away as quick as possible. We finally get out food; steak temps incorrect, cold food, etc. We never again saw the manager, nor received an apology from him for the issues. Our server actually apologized for his behavior. While this was a Sunday evening of Labor Day weekend, we're still sitting at out table at 10:45pm... No one has attempted to salvage this awful experience. George's is our favorite on 30A! We've been going there on our trips to 30A for 10 years and it is always delicious! Food and service are always amazing! Joe, is the best!
