My husband and I wanted to try George's for lunch because it had been recommended. We arrived 10 minutes before opening (11:00) and were the first ones to arrive. We sat at a four top table on the upper porch. Once they opened, my husband went in to let them know we were there. The hostess told us we could not sit on the upper porch (which has a view) because it was held in case larger parties came in. We were then seated at probably the worst table outside- a four top metal table closest to the delivery door. Since we were one of only two parties in the entire restaurant, we again asked to be seated back at the four top table on the porch instead of the four top table where we were seated. We wanted a table with a nice view rather than a view of the empty good tables. Our waitress gave the same response as the hostess, but offered us a table inside. We declined the offer and decided that we were already too irritated with the bizarre customer service to stay. However we had a fantastic meal elsewhere! It is inexplicable that the management would opt to hold out good tables from paying customers ' just in case' when there were dozens of empty tables around. read more

We had an amazing dinner the jerk snapper on their spring 2016 menu was absolutely amazing. The whole family (8 people) were seated at a generously spacious, well lit table. Everything was great, except for our waiter, Kelly. She started off telling us about a bottle of wine we didn't order and acting as if we were wrong when we said we didn't order anything yet. She was very short and didn't care to offer any insight other than only offering us the most expensive items on the menu when we asked for suggestions. At the end of the night, the ticket she gave us had 5+ items we had not ordered. When we told her, she was condescending and acting as if she knew already what was going on. Location is beautiful, with inside and outside seating and a great selection of wine. The dab salad was my favorite item due to its variety and fresh ingredients. The Alys burger was mediocre, the oyster tacos needed more of the slaw but the lobster quesadillas were absolutely to die for. Their fries were pretty good. This is a great place to hang with your kids. Why the three stars? The service was terrible. They obviously have their almost caste system of server and busboys and it seems as if the servers WILL not remove a dirty dish. I hate when a server comes by and sees a pile of dishes and just leaves them there. When we went back for lunch (since we wanted to give it another try), my husband literally sat at the table for ten minutes without the waiter ever coming by to give him the check. He had to ask the busboy for the check and then had to give him the credit card to run it. We are not fast eaters and know the beach isn't a hurried place, but two out of two times the service was bad. read more

We've been here many times and it only gets better! Georges is one of our favorite restaurants in the area, if not our top choice. The service is always good whether or not it's crowded, but the service we had by James tonight was particularly outstanding. Nice restaurant right near Rosemary Beach. Went with my girlfriend and started off with the mussels in a yummy broth with a side of bread. I had a couple of their local beers and she had some wine. All were tasty. I then got the grouper which came with fruit salsa and was very delicious. She got the filet cooked to her liking and was also good. The waitress was alright. Only thing from not getting 5 stars was it was a little overpriced for you what you receive. For the price tag, a little bigger portions and better wait staff would be expected. So the grouper sandwich is definitely up there on the list of excellent meals (apparently it's on a few "Top 100 Things to Eat Before You Die" lists), but it's only for lunch and this is a place not to miss in the evenings! The appetizers were fabulous. We ordered the lobster quesadilla's, George's fries, and flat bread. I think I liked the appetizers even better than my actual meal for which I ordered a salad and Mac & cheese. If I ever return, I will order seafood. The Mac & cheese was good, but not great. The salad was forgettable. I could make a meal out of lobster quesadilla's alone! We waited for about an hour to get a table outside for a large group of 12, which was totally expected. Great ambiance. Great food. Great staff. What more can you ask for? If you go, ask to sit in Angel's section. She's a great waitress. The mussels are great served in a spicy broth. The Jerk Crusted Snapper is amazing combination of flavors: make sure you have some salsa, black rice, and plantains on your fork when you take a bite of snapper. The Spicy Salt & Pepper Shrimp is sweet, salty, and spicy. Great flavor combination. The Rack of Lamb is cooked to perfection and has an impressive presentation. The only constructive criticism I would have for this dish is to add more of the cauliflower couscous. It didn't seem enough on the plate given the amount of meat. read more

The fish tacos were very good. Dessert was not bad at all, the carrot cake is def my favorite. The server took to teasing my friend who was visiting a little too far and went on to publicly berate another member of the staff but other than that, it was some pretty darn good food. read more

We eat here every time we come to the beach. The food is always a hit, but this time the service was a miss. The busboy dropped a glass of water which shattered and knocked two more glasses of water into my wife's lap. Next, our salads took about 20 minutes to arrive, and then only after we asked about them. My wife's order was wrong and it took longer than expected to correct. Finally, as we were leaving a waiter brought out my wife's walker(she broke her foot recently and uses a walker). Except he carried it past our table and was halfway out the door before we could get his attention. It would have been nice if the manager had stopped by to speak to us, or if they had comped a drink or a dessert. Accidents happen in any business, but it's how you respond that is important. At George's, the response was to ignore it. We actually got more comments and concern from the other guests. Update: The owner of George's contacted me the very next day by email. She apologized for the incident and wanted to make it up to us. I was very pleasantly surprised, and we will take her up on it next time we're in the area. Based on her obvious concern I'm changing the rating from 3 to 4 and hope to update it again when we return. 2nd Update: My wife and were at Watercolor for the wine tasting festival in November and had dinner at George's. As we arrived we were warmly greeted outside the restaurant. It wasn't until we were seated that we asked if the manager, Joe Messina, was available. It turns out that it was Joe who had been welcoming guests outside. While he stopped to check on us several times during our meal, I noticed that he also stopped to check on all of the guests that evening. Long story short, the meal and the service were both wonderful. It was a great way to spend our last evening at the beach. I'm bumping my review to a 5. We'll definitely be back during our next trip to C30A. read more

This is the premiere dining experience on 30A, in my opinion. This is the place I immediately think about when I think about Rosemary and Alys. Totally chic, yet laid-back, friendly servers, ocean view (well, sort of...) and a GREAT scene. The people watching was incredible. I am vegetarian, so I can't speak to the seafood, but we ordered about 4 different dishes between my dining companion and I, and they were outstanding. All I remember is some sort of crepe with asparagus and beets. I licked the plate. Nice wine and cocktail list. Only bummer was that West Coast me was traumatized by sitting outside in the early evening in 99% humidity. It was a little scary. But George's is so great, I dealt happily! read more

It was a gorgeous, sunny day, even in November. We brought my dog, so there was a 25 minute wait to sit outside on the patio. Who would sit inside on a perfect day like today?! I had a sparkling wine while waiting. The service was outstanding. The food was excellent (grouper sandwich, burger, & lobster quesadilla). The waiter brought water for my dog. The day was perfect. We also walked over to the Alys Shoppe, which is a couture gift/apparel shop. I bought a very unique colored Panama style hat. You must go to George's. Thank you fellow yelpers for steering me in the right direction. Absolutely delectable meal. We had the southern sampler and beet salad as a starter. Both were full of great flavor, only complaint that the beet salad was a small serving. The entrees were phenomenal. We both had the mixed platter, the wife had the grouper and shrimp and I had the grouper and oysters. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sides were perfect. Collard green slaw was so tasty. This was our favorite meal so far on vacation! Very delicious food, quick and friendly service! We liked the variety of options available on the menu. The spicy shrimp dish was my husband's pick and he was in love. I had the salmon, and the fish and sides were all prepared perfectly. I have family in SRB who have been wanting to try out George's so we went when I was in town. It's a really cute and charming spot. It definitely had a "lunching ladies" kind of vibe, but there was a mix of people including vacationing families and some gentlemen. The patio looked like a great spot to dine, but it was raining. We ordered some wine and I ordered the grouper sandwich. Not bad, but not amazing. It's a piece of grouper, which was prepared nicely, on a bun, with lettuce and tomato. So, IMO, nothing special. I don't know, it needed some freshly sliced avocado or red onion. Just something to make it more than a piece of fish on a bun. If we go again, I may try some of the "salads" on the board, which I believe included hummus or cucumber salad - those sounded good to me. read more

Walked right in at 5:15pm for a table inside. The fish tacos were excellent! I had the grouper basket with potato medley and salad with spicey ranch. It was also excellent. The kids had the chicken baskets with fries. They liked their baskets but wanted to try the blackened grouper. I think the kids liked the blackened grouper as much as the chicken. Wow...I just ordered their jerk crusted gulf snapper, green bananna salsa and yucca potaoes. I'm speechless. That has the most amazing blend of herbs & taste, it just melted in my mouth.
