While "smaller" portions for the South, the food was high quality and delicious. They don't take reservations so if you have a large party, be sure to get there early. We arrived a little after six and were seated in about 40 minutes. They have a great waiting area with a bar so it doesn't feel like that long. read more

Typical fare. Nothing remarkable here. We were seated quickly after arriving around 5pm. We had a large party of 7. Good for kids. I would stick to the basics here. I'll start by saying that I'm glad my girlfriend and I walked there so we could burn the calories off on the commute home. We rarely eat dessert but couldn't stop ourselves after the first two courses. The service was great and conversational. It almost felt like we were having brunch at a very wealthy friend's home. The atmosphere was so comfortable that we felt we could sit on the patio for hours with no pressure to leave by the staff which is great considering the wait for tables. The seafood was delicious and we found ourselves absolutely stuffed because we could not stop eating. Fish tacos were huge and the golden fried oysters were perfect. They were large and tasty and we were somehow fortunate to score an extra one which we savored of course. Go here and you won't be disappointed. Bad Experience Turned Perfect Night! George's At Alys was absolutely amazing...especially Stuartt!!!!I wish I could give it 10 stars. My wife and I showed up at 5:30 with our 8 month old daughter. Being exhausted from a day on the beach, she wasn't in the best of moods. We asked to sit on the patio because we saw other families there and knew it looked much more laid back than the inside vibe. Our daughter got fussy, and a lady nearby did not approve...and asked to be moved. (fine, I get it...but it is 5:30 not 7:30). However, she couldn't leave it at that. When walking by she said under her breath (but purposely loud enough for us to hear that we were "rude" because our baby was crying). Aside from the obvious fact that babies cry, and we clearly chose a family friendly hour, they moved her. We felt terrible embarrassed, you name it. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and let us know that they are very family friendly. I left to table to push our daughter in the stroller to try and put her to sleep. When our food came out, our waiter, Stuart, made a point to put mine in the warmer until I returned. Then as I returned with our daughter (still crying), Stuart proceeded to ask if it was ok for him to push her while we ate. He pushed her for more than five minutes, and although he did not succeed in putting her to sleep, he went even further out of his way to hold her while we finished our meal and he continued to wait tables. Luckily, everyone else on the patio didn't mind. Oh, and by the way, the food was delicious!! My wife had the salt and pepper shrimp was perfect...spicy but not too hot. It has cantaloupe mixed in. She hates cantaloupe, but she mistakenly ate a few pieces and secretly liked it. I had had the jerk grouper....amazing as well. We contemplated several of the desserts, but didn't want to press our luck. I will definitely be eating here again. Excellent customer service and great food win out every time. read more

George's never disappoints. We had a wonderful meal there last night. As always, the food was excellent. Our waiter, James, was exceptional. It certainly enhances the meal to have such a personable and attentive server. We were there in the middle of a huge storm and the restaurant staff should be commended for their flexibility to get everyone inside safely without diminishing anyone's meal. We've been coming to 30A for several years and always have dinner at George's. Last night's dinner was terrific. The ribeye and salt and pepper shrimp were great. Our kids loved the shrimp basket and mac and cheese. The service was spectacular. At George's you get what you pay for. read more

Lunch was amazing! We started with the lobster quesadillas which had a generous portion of lobster and crab inside fresh tortillas and topped with a nice sauce and cilantro -YUMMY!! I finished with the quinoa/black bean/blueberry/kale and other green salad. It was topped with an egg which I took off because the salad was delicious without it. George's is normally a staple for our family when we visit this area for the last several years. Tonight, was a huge disappointment, and it will likely be our last visit. The service was extremely slow, the beer was served luke-warm, the wine was served with pieces of cork and floating gnats, and the food was definitely not the upscale food we normally expect at George's. It was like an entirely different restaurant, almost as if they had been bought out by a larger company. I hope this was just a fluke bad experience, because I know they have been fabulous in the past, but we will likely never be back. read more

Every year we go to George's and once again it was the best. The red snapper was perfectly prepared and the jerk seasoning was just right. A little heat then sweet from the plantains. Fantastic food and great service; me and my wife's best meal of our vacation in Florida last week. Prices are fair/good for the area and quality of food that you get. I got grilled salmon which was cooked perfectly and came out hot and fresh. Wife loved her crispy fish sandwich. Portion size was perfect. It was pretty good. With a very small menu I would assume everything would be amazing. The jerk snapper was really good, the Mexican Corn salad was great, and fish dishes looked good. The watermelon salad and lobster quesadilla were just okay. The service was fair. I honestly don't know how all the restaurants down here staff during peak season. For those that want alcohol there is only bottle beer and wine. read more

I had a similar situation as Ali C. Management walked over to our table mid meal and asked us to keep it down. Our table was flabbergasted and insulted. Manager was a total ass. Food was good, but won't return because of how we were treated. The wait time was a bit excessive for the food and service, for sure. read more

I really wanted to like George's. I am giving a low rating solely on the failure to meet expectations. We called in advance to make sure that a vegan plate could be prepared and were told that we could be accommodated with a chef's plate. Since their online menu offered a variety of veg options, we wanted to clarify before putting our name in with the host. We waited over one hour before being seated. When we were seated, the server was very rushed and curt; he seemed to lose interested after we declined ordering from the drink menu... (I'm sure that's where he gets his big tips from). Ready to order, we told him of our call in and dietary request. The server was quick to dismiss that this could be done, went on his elevator pitch on the fish special for the night (even though it's not applicable...), then disappeared to adjacent diners before answering any questions. Since the server was gone for so long, we went to the host (he was very nice) to ask about our request, and he said they could prepare steamed veggies with white rice. We ended up leaving; I couldn't even give George's a chance because I was so disappointed by my high expectations and the quality of service. read more
