A nice little diner. Came here cause i was in the area and was craving an american breakfast. They've adjusted the inside dining during covid time. Was seated immediately as we were the only indoor diners. Served quick and friendly and was attentive. I ordered the hungry mans which was 3 pancakes, 2 sunnyside up eggs, 3-4 pieces of bacon, 1 sausage, and 2 pieces of ham that were hidden underneath the pancakes. They gave me syrup, butter, and grape jelly on a separate plate. I cant complain as it somewhat filled me up. I guess my only knock was the bacon didnt have that bacon flavor. The sausage was really flavorful so it made up for the bacon. They've got a lot on their menu Would recommend! read more

I came here once recently because I live super close by. I really wanted to love this place because of the convenience of location. The menu is Incredible, so many options from sandwiches to eggs to wraps. I got the Mexican breakfast burrito which came with friends. It was decent, the fries were under salted and came out cold. We were sitting by the kitchen door and the door flew off and almost hit my boyfriend in the head. It was funny because no one got hurt but no one even apologized lol. Not sure if I would come back to eat brunch but maybe to try the cheesecakes. read more

We stopped in on our travels around NYC. They sat us upstairs with the staff talking loudly and yelling across the room at each other while they sat at a table. We ordered...the water tasted odd...old/sitting to long? I ordered the chicken soup...which turned out to be chicken noodle (wish I had known as I can't have pasta right now) it was very bland and had 3 tiny pieces of chicken with 2 carrots. The Hubs got a roast beef sandwich...he said the roast beef tasted no different than that of the bread. The Son got a burger...it was a pre made patty that was tasteless and rubbery. We dined inside & were seated immediately for lunch. They have plastic dividers set up between the tables for COVID and all the workers were wearing masks. Like, I didn'teven have time to pit my pants on, and had to run to open the door in a Tshirtand me knickers! . Stopped in for breakfast on my last day in town. It wasn't bad but it wasn't really good either. Ordered the two egg breakfast with cheese and bacon. The cheese was two slices of regular American cheese placed on top of the scramble. The coffee was ok, nothing to write home about.. most telling was the guy at the table next to me who literally told his wife "this is the worst breakfast burrito I've ever had in my life.. but this Diet Coke is pretty darn good". We were with a group of 17 and just walked in at noon and were seated within five minutes! This was a perfect spot for our group who came off a red-eye flight so half were craving breakfast and the other half lunch. Everyone loved their meals! Four stars seems appropriate for the large tumbler of Mimosa I received on a recent brunch visit with family! The place was busy, so it's obviously popular with a great breakfast and lunch menu. We were seated right away upstairs, the server immediately coming buy for our drink order (hello Mimosa Big Gulp!). We were a mixed group of adults and kids so we had an array of menu items ordered. I had the Lumberjack breakfast, we also had a breakfast burrito, cheeseburger sliders, chicken fingers, and a couple other items... all of which were tasty! Good meal and excellent attention to social distancing doing the Covid-19 pandemic. The coffee was excellent and the server was attentive to refills. I had an avocado toast with an egg and it had nice spices and the egg was cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his eggs, bacon and hash browns. He said they gave him more bacon than at most diners, and was happy about that. We were there on a Sunday morning and it was eerily quiet in the financial district, but we were happy to find George's and have an outdoor meal. read more

This has to be the best waffle that I have had in a resturant. Everything was vibrant, and I can tell the restaurant uses quality ingredients. The food was flavorful, it came quick and the service was great. Our waiter stayed close by Incase we needed something. The prices weren't too bad, for a meal for two it came to $45. There was a faint seafood taste, I couldn't tell if it was from the eggs or from the salsa. The salsa was different, sweet, but good. FYI: Just to start off I have very high food expectations. I can appreciate high or low cuisine as long as someone put some love into what they are serving. I suppose if you are starving or lost your sense of taste during COVID then George's will do. But my goodness if you are in NYC, treat yourself! There are hundreds of places where you'll get a better meal. Downtown can be tricky for breakfast but there are a few gems and a few good bagel spots. Just type bagel in to google maps: Leo's, Black Seed, Pick-a-bagel are all good. My experience there was below average food and service. Tip: Do not get anything with "avocado sauce" on it. And the coffee is like coffee before coffee was a thing. I just didn't feel anyone cared about what they served or how they served it. You know how sometimes someone will ask you what you had for breakfast and you can't remember? This is that. Maybe they had an off day? But there was nothing that made me interested in ever returning. read more

I asked the doorman at our hotel for a local diner. He recommended George's. I ended up having breakfast there five days in a row. This is a typical New York diner. They serve breakfast all day. I tried the waffles, pancakes, and the egg and bacon sandwich. All were perfect. The coffee is nice and strong. The staff are all very nice and attentive. It feels like a family owned diner. I had the same waiters every day. I cannot comment on the other meals but breakfast is definitely a winner here. read more

It was hot and good- 4 stars Philly steak sliders - 4 stars 2 eggs with home fries - 2 stars since the home fries was bland. A good home fries is really in important. After having already sat down at one place and perused the prices, our NY insider with us steered us to George's. It was definitely lunch time but we had absolutely no wait for the three of us, though it was crowded. Yay! Seated upstairs in a tight seating area (not an issue for me), two of us decided on breakfast -- they have specials that were decently priced. I opted for the beef gyro platter with huge portions of beef and salad but only one pita. What's with that? So, I stuffed my pita and then proceeded to eat the rest by itself and tzatziki sauce (it also comes with bbq sauce but I didn't try it). It was quite good and the price was, again, decent. The total bill for 2 breakfasts, one lunch, and non-alcohol drinks came to 43.33 total. I'd call that fair pricing and our stomachs seemed happy enough. read more

The first time I came here, I had a double mimosa and a slice of oreo cheesecake. I didn't enjoy the cheesecake, however I come from a clean plate household, so I finished it. The mimosas are strong if you request it. Maybe strong is inaccurate, light is a better term. The lighter, the better.. The second visit, the group was seated in the exact same place as the previous group. The server was also the same. This time, we feasted!!! There were burgers everywhere and they were good. I ordered the Santa Fe burger and the kid ordered chicken fingers. We got a couple of pitchers of mimosas. I don't like maraschino cherries, the first pitcher was full of them. They also put cherries in the cups. Mine were removed and the second pitcher was sans cherries. The rest of the group ate them. When I'm downtown, I'm going there. read more

Our waiter was rude and unhelpful, making it clear that our presence was an inconvenience to him. Throughout the meal, our requests for basic items such as water and utensils were ignored or met with a dismissive attitude. The food itself was mediocre at best, and the poor service only made the experience worse. When we attempted to voice our concerns to the staff, we were met with hostility and unwillingness to rectify the situation. Overall, I would not recommend George's Dinner to anyone.
