Quality diner. Their breakfast platters are excellent and hearty. The hungry man omelette is my favorite and the seasoned fries are perfectly crispy when delivered. I always order a fruit salad with my meal and the fruit selection is generous and fresh. Big big fan of George's and glad that I discovered them by chance. Hate to stay late at work for dinner, but when I am staying, I just can't wait to have food from George's! Now I order delivery from them at least twice a week. Delivery is prompt as well. Only drawback so far is that the toast is not buttered before delivery =(. No biggie though. read more

I was desperately looking for a place to eat in the financial district. When I stumbled upon this place. It looked good from the outside and the menu looked good. However the food did not taste very good. Cheaply made sandwiches that you could make at home. Something about my sandwich didn't taste right. The service was good and the place was clean. After our Overnight stay at The Marriott on West Street on her way Home we discovered George s so Hubby and I decided to give Georges s a Try for Breakfast,I had the Italian Omelette and Hubby had the Waffle covered with Bananas,we both were satisfied with our choices.We had gotten good service and we did not have to wait for a long time to get our orders .Though its a very long schlepp from where we reside Hubby and I decided to once again eat at George s whenever we will be in the area ,next time we do we will try their lunch menu I am almost certain that we will not be dissatisfied. read more

After visiting the 911 memorial, we happened by George's looking for a family friendly place to eat. And we found it. Our server, Alexis, was top notch and well exceeded our expectations in making our dining experience memorable and pleasurable. We sat outside, at the risk of being neglected as we've been at other restaurants, and this was not the case. The food was good, and the portions were great, especially the kids meals, which come not only with a drink, but also a scoop of ice cream. It was a great find on a hot day in the city. The food is usually good, the portions are fair to normal and the prices are average for NYC. My three star rating is because we order from them weekly whether it be picking it up or delivery they always seem to F up our order! Always. It got to be completely ridiculous at one point and I went in and told them they need to focus. I ordered a sundae and got a root beer float, a oatmeal and got coffee in an oatmeal cup and so on. This place is overall a great spot and they are quick but they might be too quick for their own good and that is why they always screw up our orders. read more

Pretty good. My daughter and I split a pancake and egg platter...pretty satisfied. Pancakes are fluffy and sweet, eggs are cooked just right. Other than the fact that I accidentally poured ketchup on my pancakes, the food was great. Would definitely consider coming back if I am ever in the area again. read more

Staying nearby and needing a robust breakfast after burning through a long run, I went into George's, with low expectations. As soon as I opened the door I was warmly greeted and shown to an open table. Service was efficient and friendly. I ordered a basic breakfast combo which took just the right time to be made to order. What was surprising for the better, is that not just that everything felt fresh and cooked exactly as I requests (well done hash-browns etc.), but unlike the typical diner, it was NOT swimming in oil, but rather made very homey. Simple yet delicious! Prices are more then reasonable leaving less then $9 for the pleasure. Perfect! read more

My wife, son, and myself ate lunch around 2pm in March on a Thursday. I liked that there were not many tourists there. The service was great for a deli. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and she said it was the best chicken salad she has had. That is great praise, as she orders chicken salad frequently. We both enjoyed the split peas soup. We were in NYC recently, and being an EMS person, a trip to Ground Zero was a must-do. After we paid our respects to all those valiant souls who perished in the 9/11 disaster, we were walking around and came across George's. What looked like a typical neighborhood cafe turned out to be a gem hidden among the streets of lower Manhattan. Good food, great service, and quite the history among all the news articles hanging on the upstairs dining area's walls. If you're in the area, stop in for a great meal, great service and a brief history lesson about what happened on 9.11.01. Loved this place. read more

My husband and I walked around the financial district for quite some time before settling on this place. What a mistake. I ordered moussakka for lunch. My husband ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. I've never seen a thicker, grayer moussaka in my life--totally unappealing, but I was hungry, so I gave it a shot. Why was it so grey? Maybe frozen forever? Regardless, it was nuclear hot on the outside and iced cold on the inside. I was beyond sending it back at this point, just nibbled around the edges and called it a day. My husband's entree was just as bad. He was presented with spaghetti swimming in water, with a dollop of darkly colored meat sauce on top. He also ordered a side of meatballs, which he had to send back to be heated because they, too, were ice cold inside. I see good reviews on their breakfasts, but when you think about it, how hard is it to screw up an egg and a side of meat? Steer clear of this joint if you want a good lunch or dinner. read more

Good breakfast! As usual, a bit packed-in, but we got used to it after a while of eating in the city. The menu was good and the service was pretty prompt, except getting the bill. It seemed no matter where we went we had to wait 15-20 minutes after finishing our meal to receive our check. I'm not sure what is with that, but it seemed to happen everywhere. No frills, classic American breakfast spot. Can be a bit of a wait to be sat and for service, but it's quite busy and the layout of the restaurant (2 floors and an old building) make it tough. Was looking for a quick breakfast at 12 in the afternoon and went to a deli but they had turned off the grill. So, on my way back home, I passed George's. I had the Eggs Florentine Breakfast, and it was delicious. A little on the salty side, but that was what I was in the mood for. The spinach was piled heavy, the english muffin was kind of oversized for the egg, but I don't mind that since I love bread. I just felt that the spinach slightly overpowered the egg and feta. The egg was also a little too soft for my taste. I love a good running egg, however the egg white was kind of runny as well. You can see in the image one of the eggs was already falling apart without even being touched. The home fries were AMAZING. The perfect amount of crunch and actual potato. Other than that, there was fast service and I was quickly seated. Given I was only one person, the food came out pretty quickly which was great. I sat downstairs, but they also have a second floor with additional seating. A little pricey for what looks like a pretty typical diner, but what can you do, its New York City. read more
