Went here for take-out over the weekend because it was the closest place to eat near my hotel. The person taking out order was not friendly at all, and had a bad attitude. We hadn't finished placing our order and she assumed we were done and have us our total after we ordered one thing. The milkshake was good but the roast beef sandwich and baked potato we ordered had no taste. Maybe if we had dined in and ordered something else it would have been a better experience but I don't think I will be going back. And the sodas that were ordered were both expired. Someone else who came in ordered and cheeseburger with lettuce. She rudely asked, "no bread?" the customer had to explain to her 5 times what he wanted, which was just a cheeseburger with the bun, which is what burgers come with unless asked without it and with lettuce. read more

Typical diner food. It was okay nothing special. For the price it was decent. The delivery man however, was quite rude, and they forgot part of our which was not delivered until almost an hour later. It was a quick bite to eat, but more than likely I will not be ordering from here again due to the customer service. read more

Brainer is your kind of waiter!! He not only was accommodating to what we need or asked he also was a joy! He was very personable and he got the order with all the substitutions correct!! Bellhop suggested George's for breakfast. Good, hearty breakfast and it was cool to have a diner with bottomless drink specials. Food wasn't spectacular, but got the job done. Waiters were around, without being overbearing. My California omelette was good as were the white sangrias. Prices are great. Not very good. It was close and I thought it would be nice for lunch, but the Huevos Rancheros I got was about equal to if not a bit worse than what I could have gotten at a corner deli for half the price. The English muffin wasn't crispy at all and there was little sauce. Although the menu advertised unlimited refills, they would not switch me from orange juice to grapefruit juice. Unfortunately we decided to dine here while waiting to get into the 9/11 memorial. Out of 4 meals, they were all disgusting! My Chicken Gyro had what I can only describe as flat 1 inch strips of some kind of chicken mystery meat, our milk shakes were just cold milk (no shake) the onlion rings were soggy and underdone and all four of us ended up very sick later that evening. The service was even worse! We ordered water 3 times and never got it, the waiter never checked on our meal and we had to go hunt him down to get our check and pay! Came into NYC for the day, stopped here for breakfast. Food was decent but the service was S L O W. Server never asked if we wanted more coffee or needed anything else. We sat for 20 mins from the time we were done eating until server came again. He brings us the bill and they automatically added 18% tip. The menu says they only add for 4 or more people, or for bills more than $75, we had 3 people and a $40 bill. When you read the bottom of the bill it says "gratuity not included, please tip" or something to that effect. What started as a good experience ended on a bad note. Will not come back.... read more

Here on business and tried George's out for the first time with my daughter. Overall, the service was excellent. Sat outside and the weather was perfect. I had the chicken kabob with rice and side salad. The food was good, I won't say it was great or memorable. The menu is large and covers your basic burgers, sandwiches, mexican, Italian, Greek and the list goes on. The breakfast selection is large also. Will try it again and a different dish. read more

We were desperate to find a place that served pancakes on Thanksgiving day, and luckily George's was open. They had a full brunch menu with bottomless mimosas and the owner even stopped by before we left to ask if we wanted one last carafe. The service was great! He opened the door for us as we left also, and it was freezing outside. I ate the Southwestern Eggs Benedict with the Chipotle Hollandaise sauce. The eggs were perfectly runny. We were tourists looking for brunch before visiting the World Trade Center memorial. We were very happy to find George's and while it was quite busy on a Sunday morning, there seemed to be an efficient method for seating people. The food was absolutely fine, but it not get to our table hot. Unfortunately, that problem is not unique to diners like George's. You can pay a lot more money for a pretentious, lukewarm entree. And I'd also like to mention that the lock on the restroom door did not work, causing this individual some anxiety, given how busy the place was. read more

Dont come here of you want friendly service at the counter. Staff is beyond rude and the place looks filthy. Too bad, because the food ive had in yhe past in the restaurany part has been good! Walking around after hitting the 9/11 Memorial, I happened upon this little spot that looked like a great place to eat. Unfortunately I was not overly impressed. I realize that real estate in NYC is at a premium but the way these tables were positioned in this restaurant was not even close to space efficient and was not at all conducive to actually eating a meal. That being said, my friend ordered the turkey club and was satisfied with the meal. He said the turkey was a little dry but overall it was fine. I ordered a chicken sandwich that had guacamole and other flavors (no idea what it was called) and truthfully, it was "meh". The ingredients didn't seem fresh and no flavor actually stuck out as great. We had to beg our waiter for water refills and I ordered a soda and the can was absolutely filthy. You're greeted in the store front with a beautiful pastry counter, but don't worry, they don't make any of the items there. They buy them and resell. I guess I got spoiled while I was in the city and had so many homemade amazing tastes that I don't think I will ever need to stop back here again. It did the job though. We ate. read more

Don't eat here - I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and after 25 minutes, I asked the waiter to check on it and it arrived with no meat. Really, a Philly with no meat. They said they would take care of it and after another 20 minutes I finally got a sandwich that really was not very good at all. The folks next to us ordered a breakfast and indicated they would be leaving and going someplace else to eat. Very bad experience. read more

Based on my first (and will be only) visit, I have to agree with the first reviewer. The food here is nothing special. For a weekday lunch, the service was OK. I tried their house special burger - The George's Burger - which left me unimpressed. It was a cross between a burger and a meatloaf with toppings mixed in with the meat. Kind of strange. I would go to Burger King instead. Limited seating downstairs. Additional seating upstairs. Busy at lunch - why? Might be that you need to know what to order and what to stay away from. read more

You know why they're great? Because they deliver my oatmeal to my job which is like two miles away from them!!!! I love their 5 dollar minimum delivery. It's so hard to find in this area!! Quality diner. Their breakfast platters are excellent and hearty. The hungry man omelette is my favorite and the seasoned fries are perfectly crispy when delivered. I always order a fruit salad with my meal and the fruit selection is generous and fresh. Big big fan of George's and glad that I discovered them by chance. Hate to stay late at work for dinner, but when I am staying, I just can't wait to have food from George's! Now I order delivery from them at least twice a week. Delivery is prompt as well. Only drawback so far is that the toast is not buttered before delivery =(. No biggie though. read more

I was desperately looking for a place to eat in the financial district. When I stumbled upon this place. It looked good from the outside and the menu looked good. However the food did not taste very good. Cheaply made sandwiches that you could make at home. Something about my sandwich didn't taste right. The service was good and the place was clean.
