It was pretty crowded on a weekend morning. I always walk by this spot to and from work and it was always closed. I always wondered what they served and was so excited to visit. Their tiramisu was well spoken so we knew we had to try it. We started with dessert first and it was delicious. Amazing cheese cake, amazing tiramisu. For food we got an omelet, which was delicious. Then we also got the cream cheese toast with fresh fruits, which my partner and I felt like was just not in. I ate the fruits and half a french toast bagel and ended up eating his toasted bread butter. I just really didn't like how the french toast and cream cheese and maple syrup tasted together. This little stretch has a few good places to eat. Zaza is one of them! They close early (despite having what they call "dinner offerings," but they close at 3pm each day). I came for a brunch once, they do offer a full bar. But also great coffees! My husband noticed they have a "frites bar," which has all kind of delicious fry offerings. He got the Zaza fries which is a chicken a La vodka variety, and the disco fries are waffle fries with mozz and gravy. I didn't know what to expect but let me tell you... it was great!! So good I actually brought some home. I think they're shareable. The service was pretty good. Again I think the only drawback is that they close so early? I suppose they have their reasons. The hostess was friendly, and we were seated immediately--there was no waiting at all. Our server was attentive and asked us what we would like to drink, and then a second waiter came by to take our food orders. We ordered a Western egg omelet with home fries and multigrain bread. This was a gem. We happened on this spot on our lunch hour! It was a classic diner meet modern Manhattan moment there were people from so many different walks of life at lunch, folks on lunch break, families and tourist just to name a few. The menu had so much variety to choose from, it took me a while to pick what to get - eventually, I decided on the eggs a la Zaza, which is a smoked salmon benefict - and it didn't disappoint! My friend and I went to Zaza Diner for brunch on a Friday at 10:30am. I did not think a random diner in the financial district would need reservations, but when I arrived, it was POPPING! I would recommend making a reservation if you come here during a peak dining hour. Fortunately, several tables turned when we put our names down, so we only had to wait 10 minutes. The interior is like an upscale diner. They have a pretty display case with their pastries and the classic long diner booths. The prices on the menus online are higher than what they are, and I paid in cash for a discount. I do not remember the prices, but I remember thinking they were reasonable for the location. My friend ordered the breakfast nachos, and I ordered what I believe was called American breakfast. My friend enjoyed the nachos and only did not finish them because the portion size was huge. For me, I chose the breakfast because it is one of the few I have seen that came with a croissant. I wish they told me that everything would be on the croissant. If so, I would have asked for the components separated. The sandwich ended up being pretty greasy, which would not happen if I had everything separate. However, the home fries were delicious! If you like crispiness on your home fries, you will appreciate them here. Service here was non-existent with the exception of our orders being taken and delivered. There were no check-backs or water refills, and we had to go to the front of the restaurant to pay. However, the front-of-the-house staff made up for that with their helpfulness and positivity. If you are in the area, I think this is a nice place to eat, but it is not somewhere I would go out of my way for. read more

Stopped in for lunch on my way to my car. The place was clean and the hostess seated me right away. It took a little while for a server to come over but the menu is huge so I appreciated the extra time. I ordered the corned beef Reuben with a side salad instead of fries. The salad was the best thing. The Reuben was served open faced, which I don't really like, but can look past that if the flavor is there. The menu says it comes with a spicy mustard. The one they brought me only had bread, sauerkraut, meat and cheese. I asked the server to bring me a side of thousand island dressing. I was really disappointed. The cheese was congealed and not gooey. It was really dry because it wasn't cooked with any sauce on it. I would go back to try other items. I'll skip the Reuben though! read more
