Came here for lunch the other day while in town with family. It came across as a fairly typical diner ambiance. Service was super friendly and quick. I ordered the chicken fried steak, garlic mash potatoes, and broccoli salad. I was pleasantly surprised that each item was pretty good, and all for $12.50, in 2024. We also got a large burger called the George, which, from what I heard, was pretty tasty too. Overall I think it's a great deal for decent food. read more

I've always loved going to George's! But they had changed their soda to their own brand. We stopped going there for awhile because I had to bring my own drink! But we went there two nights ago and yayyyy! They brought back real Diet Coke and Coke products! I could not be happier about this! Now we can go to our favorite restaurant again! Yesterday was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant! We went up to the hostess and said we wanted a table on the patio, they said they were cleaning the table and we would have to wait. We walked back to the bar to order a drink and just standing there when Averi came up and said ( very rudely )we need to check in with the hostess we said we already had. My friend said you don't have to be so rude about it, Averi came back with "you don't talk to me like that" VERY RUDELY. We called the manager over ( tall dude with a beard) and he did absolutely nothing. Needless to say I will never step foot in a George's ever again!! read more

We came in tonight and when we got our food, noticed the burger was made wrong. Thank God he wasn't allergic. We kept trying to get our waitresses attention, oh but of course too busy reminiscing with the guy in the blue shirt. Assuming the manager. Only for my husband to eat 1/2 the burger. ONLY BECAUSE HE WAS STARVING! While we were trying to get our waitresses attention, A STUPID WAITRESS STARTS SWEEPING AND FLICKING THE BROOM IN THE AIR ON OUR FOOD! No regards for us or our food. Then when our waitress finally came over there I told her about the mistake ... they made the hamburger with mustard not mayo. She didn't even ask as if she could remake it.... ! I ordered a blueberry waffle. I got a blueberry pancake. When I quietly stated I thought I'd ordered a waffle, the waitress looked at a ticket, said nothing to me, and walked away. While our group was there, along with a group of 2, and another of 4, a girl came in with a huge cleaner of some kind and cleaned around a table no one was sitting at. From out of town. Slid through for lunch. What a nice find for a weary traveler. Had zero expectations - as that is often so disappointing these days. Place was wall to wall with people Monday lunch crowd. Must be doing SOMETHING right? Nice variety on the menu. Waitress recommended pork chop on the lunch menu- I was stuck in the meatloaf, hamburger, catfish, chicken, and almost every other lunch menu option. A slew of 2 sides to pick from. I selected broccoli rice casserole which was average- but good! Also picked cheesy grits. I won't pretend to say where they come in on the scale- as this Illinois boy knows nothing about grits- only that my tongue made this big swooshing noise pulling these things off my lips. The Pork Chop- that's something I DO know a lot about. I would personally like a little larger cut but this was perfectly fine- not overly breaded like so many for the purpose of hiding the nothingness inside. Crispy- cooked perfectly, seasoned wonderfully with a gravy on the side that kept intercepting my fork on the way up. Now - I fully enjoyed this meal and the kind employees- who all had plenty else to do- and then I got the bill... $8.93. Are. You. SERIOUS? Is this place full of liars? I paid the bill and slid out and no one chased me down. THAT is the REAL draw here I think. GREAT VALUE- what you get for your money. So many other places pitching cheap prices then giving you microwave TV dinners. NOT at George's. I get through once a month. Glad to know where they are at. Thank you Georges crew! read more

This location has been slipping slowly downward for a while. The food has become average many more places offer colder fresh beer for a cheaper price. It's still OK in a Waco staple if they're not careful, they will be left in the dust just because you've been around a long time doesn't mean you'll be around a long time in the future read more

After recently hearing about this place, decided to check it out on our last visit to the Waco area. Didn't disappoint. My steak fingers were so tender i could cut with my fork. tots were crispy, bread was tasty. My husband had chicken fried chicken-tender, good taste, crispy coating. We will be back again for sure. Horrible! Don't do takeout! Staff could care less. They got their money and put out crap.

What went well? Everything! There was a line when we arrived and a line when we departed! Chicken fried steak, bbq wings, and Kimmy's Sante Fe (salad) were are scrumptious Waitress complimented our grandson and was attentive to our needs the entire meal even with a packed house! Came here with a party of 12 people and I was delighted that they take reservations. Our table was all ready for us when we got there! Food was amazing!! Everyone loved the burgers, fries, onion rings and several of us enjoyed a variety of delicious salads! Highly recommend!! read more

Went and waited half hour for a seat outside the inside was way too cold. I was fine waiting for a warmer seat, we got seated under an air vent in the outdoor bar, was still very cold. Waited ten minutes to see the waitress, when we saw her, my husband asked for a warmer table just behind us. The coasters were pulled and the waitress just disappeared. Poor service, we left without eating, can't tell you anything about food or drinks. Never got any. read more

I know there's no one that's been here will be surprised by the glowing review, but this restaurant is truly a gem. We were traveling thru town and spent the nite in Waco. Needed a restaurant that would allow us to bring the dog, which they did on the patio. They had such a gracious staff from the greeter to our waitress, and the manager that came over and talked with us about where we were from and going etc.... The food we ordered was unique and very tasty. Deep fried bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast with jalapeño and cheese to the baked potato stuffed with chicken fried steak, gravy, and cheese...crazy good. The ambiance has a great cross section of Waco locals and student vibe to it that was pretty cool. I wanted BBQ when we left the hotel, but the wife talked me into this place and it was a fabulous choice. I thought the prices were reasonable for the amount of food we were served. Oh yeah, I wanted to try the onion rings since they were a house specialty on the menu and I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to O.R.s, but they passed the test.
