Exceptional work, accomplished what I needed done. We'll see tomorrow if they hold up in the grass which they absolutely should. (I'll update if they don't) This was some of the worst customer service I have ever received. I was told over the phone they had what I needed, I drove out of my way to get there and when I walked in the gentleman had no idea what I'm talking about. Doesn't matter, he came up with another solution that would take him 15 minutes and cost me $25. I said yes please! I came back in 20, weren't ready. Came back in 30, not ready and no update. So I just sit and wait calmly because what am I going to do? I need the shoes. A guy walked in, waited a while, hollered and was able to get some service after I told him I've been waiting (at that time) an hour for something that was supposed to take 15. Another woman came in a day early to see if her shoes happened to be ready. They weren't. He stopped with my shoes to finish hers, now this is a smart move on his part because she's a repeat customer and me? I'm from CT, headed to upstate NY for a wedding , I'll never be back here. However, the woman said she didn't need the shoes today, she actually asked them to work on mine after I shared my situation with her. Well he finished her shoes, she goes to check out- they didn't repair the buckle. Now I've been here 1 hour and 45 minutes. Finally he gets back to work on my shoes. I got my shoes after waiting 2 hours and 3 minutes. He said it would take him 15. I wouldn't have waited 2 hours, he knew that, he wanted to sale, he got it. He wins. He did good work hence the GRACIOUS 3 star review. read more

Once upon a time,this fellow may have been a good cobbler; I don't know. If so, then that time has long since passed. I needed a pair of work boots reconditioned because the soles wore out quickly on a roof project but the uppers were in great shape. We discussed removing and replacing the midsole, reusing the welt, and adding a new Vibram lug outsole. I dropped them off, paying a deposit, and looked forward to picking up my new old boots... The day after they were supposed to be ready I called and was told ready to go. They were not. So I wasted some time walking around a cold rainy north street until they were. Except that they still weren't because as soon as I got them in my truck I noticed that the outsoles were not firmly attached and already coming off the boot! Immediately, I brought them back inside, pointed out the issue, and told him I will leave them for two days to be finished. Three days later I returned. My boots were on the counter ready to go, smeared with glue, with areas of the outsole still not firmly attached. I pointed this out, he said give me a minute I'll take care of it right now, then smeared some more glue around... at this point I was just done. I took my boots and left. After less than one full 40 hour work week the new Vibram soles were 30% detached from one of the boots and 50% detached from the other. There was no new midsole, it was just a series of scraps that had been glued together and shoved between the new outsole and the original midsole. Boots are an important tool, especially when climbing ladders or walking on roofs. This fellow made my boots unusable and unsafe. Essentially, I paid $135 for nothing. A cobbler is an artisan- a skilled craftsman; this shop is neither. If you value your footwear I would absolutely recommend to avoid this shop. read more

George stretched a pair of shoes for me. One of the last shoe repairs around. Service was good. Shoes feel great.

Stopped in to have a sole glued (it was separating from the shoe at the toe end). Sloppy job- arguing between the man who did the work and the owner in front of me about how the person doing the job did it wrong. Took over 40 minutes. When it was finally handed back- it was a mess- the glue was showing, AND they had obviously tried to get the glue off the leather by sanding it- thus ruining the leather! I don't know how they could have any good reviews. The place is a mess and the people working there have no professional presence. read more

I had a shoe emergency for an upcoming wedding. Drove from Bennington, VT to find George's Shoe Repair. George dropped everything he was doing on a busy day to help me. He updated and shined my husband's shoes and skillfully repaired and padded my heels so that I could dance at my daughter's wedding. The work superb and I cannot recommend George highly enough. Rare to find such care and craftsmanship in these times. read more

The young man who is now working in George's shoe repair is very pleasant and professional and generous with his time.. I took a sandal in to be stitched expecting full well i would have to leave it and probably pay more than the show was worth, but instead he fixed it for me right then and only asked for $2.
